Oh is this like a security method on the Priv? I have never had one, I assumed the phone had a bad installation of McAfee. Because honestly, I never trust android antivirus

Return device to owner. And I'm happy you are not able to unlock/bypass this.

Pull battery...put the battery back in... hold the volume down, the camera button, and the power button all at the same time until u see black with blue writing. Use volume rocker to go down to wipe data then press the home tab. Confirm and ur phone will be wiped resulting in by passing the lock code. Another way....... figure out the lock code.

If you incorrectly enter the pattern 5 times or so, a button "Forgot Pattern?" should appear and you can unlock your phone with your Google account information.

turn the phone off, when off, hold volume-up, home button and power button...a menu should pop up, navigate using volume buttons to factory reset and select using the home button (I think)

Why don't you call your seller and ask for the code...
Looks like "hot" SGS to me :|
You would be lucky if he enabled "USB Debugging" on his phone. Flash the phone and your phone would be brand new. This is theoretical though. Never faced any problems like this.
Doesn't seem like you bought the phone eh mate? If he has Tracker Apps, you would be screwed my friend.
Just do the factory reset, it will work.

Help! Nexus 7 won't turn on

I sent my nexus 7 in to Asus because it wouldnt turn on and they said the mother board had water damage. Tried to charge me $150 so i declined and they sent me back my tablet. I brought a new mother board and installed it myself. It was real easy but the tablet just charges but won't come on still. Wondering if anyone else experienced this and if anyone can help me with this. Thanks for any help in advance

You tried any of the adb commands like adb reboot or adb reboot bootloader. Might be worth a shot

@Elsworth
Ummm ... I'm pretty sure you need a booted OS running on the tablet for any adb command to function. As for fastboot, it needs the bootloader to be running in a specific mode before it will do anything.
@OP
If you have the tablet plugged in to a PC when you try turning it on, do you hear any noise indicating device detection by the PC? If so, does any device show up in the device manager? BTW, where were you able to purchase a mobo from?

Interesting. If it were used, it should have factory software on it somehow. If it were brand-spanking-new, though, it might be completely unprogrammed - only capable of doing APX mode, which to date nobody but Asus knows how to use.
I'm interested to hear what you find out trying to start it up attached to a PC. APX mode only would not be good news.

Reflashing Stock Images on Dead Phone

OK guys, woke up the other day to find the Nexus 4 with a solid (not flashing) red light and couldn't get it to boot or fastboot or anything, whether plugged into PC or not. Phoned google (they didn't ask about root or bootloader or anything) and they have sent a replacement. I will be sending my broken one back to them soon, but is there any chance I'll be able to relock it first? Does anyone have experience of this kind of situation before?

Don`t think they will be able to see or take the trouble to check if the phone`s unlocked. No, you cannot flash a image to a dead phone, if you could do that it wouldn`t be bricked

Well I hope you're right - would be frustrating to be punished for what is clearly a hardware issue!
And of course you can't flash a dead phone, I was wondering if there was some magical key combination that might reach fastboot that I haven't already tried or something like that :laugh:long shot I know...

Absolutely nothing, although I'd not heard that one before so thanks - with any luck it will just be checked for powering up and then wiped at Google once they can't get it on. I'm sure people must have sent phones to them in this condition before?
Usually by opening the phone and disconnecting the battery you can fix your red light issue, google it, it's pretty common.
yes but that also voids the warranty.

Follow iFixit guide or one similar. You won't void your warranty by taking off the back cover and unscrewing the screws that holding the battery connector.
Then remove and replace battery connector and undo all previous steps.

No, no response at all from it whatever I do - might leave it a couple of days to see if the battery fully discharges, seen that in a couple of places as potentially helping. Wouldn't be too keen on taking it apart, seems like tempting fate regarding the warranty to be honest.
No just RMA it

Screen Lock using Power button

Hi all,
first post here.
I recently purchased the Galaxy S8 - love it!
A friend told me that using the power button regularly will damage the button. Is this true?
the friend also recommended using a Screen Lock/ Off app to use this (similar to the iOS quick ball)
Any thoughts?
How would regular use damage it? If you're skeptical, use the fingerprint unlock feature.

Thanks for the reply. Exactly my point. Samsung would make these buttons with a very good usability time span right?

And to lock? the power button?
It's a little finicky compared to the iPhones... The buttons are bigger and more clicky on the iPhones. Can't really fault the galaxy though since that edge screen use up half of the side bezel.
The power button is there for a reason. Use it.
Don't be silly, no it won't break...
Thanks all for the help

or just search and install Softkey Edge from Galaxy App and use it from edge side.
