Google Now cards - Mate 8 General

Does anyone know how to enable the home button swipe function to launch the Google now cards? Thanks!

do you have root? do you have gapps installed?

go ahead and try: settings/apps/advanced/default app settings/assistance & voice input
and set "assist app" as google app
then swipe up from home button and configure google now cards

[Q] Google Now Swipe Up Action

Just got my nexus 7 and have been playing around with it and I have a question about google now. When I first started using it, if I did the swipe up from the home button action it would bring up the google now voice prompt. Now when I do the swipe up it just takes me to the google now cards, where I can say "Google" and get the voice prompt to start.
My question, what happened? Did I change a setting somewhere I forgot about or did the default swipe up action change when it upgraded to 4.2.1?
Google now goes right to search until you add a Google Account.
When you agree to use Google Now with a Google Account you get the card interface.

With Google Now on I get the cards too. With Google Now off I get the basic google search bar with microphone and the keyboard is open. I put the Voice Search icon in the dock (Nova launcher) and just hit that to go straight into voice search. I honestly can't remember if it worked differently before.

(??) Make Google Now Override S Voice

I used to be able to double tap home to open Google Now. Now it opens S Voice. How can I make it open Google Now.
Also... Does anyone actually prefer S Voice?
Thanks!

You need root for that, use Wanam xposed to configure double tap on hope run Google Now.

I am rooted, however, I cannot run Xposed because it borks games by SquareEnix, and I play FFIV lol. Thanks though!
Any other ideas?
very simple; Install home2 shortcut, assign double-click button to Google now. I have mine set to voice search, so I don't even have to hit my mic when I open google now.
Very convenient when driving
BTW, NO root required!
Even better for driving is to enable the "Hi Galaxy" wake command. Then use tasker to switch over to Google Voice Search each time S - voice runs. There's a 1 sec or so delay but it works and no hands required.

I now realize after switching to Nova launcher this disables the ability to return to your main home screen from another home screen. Is there any xposed or other solution I can use to avoid this issue? I already tried xbutton actions with no option to use double click home button to launch anything!
S for switch voice app in playstore. No root needed.

Workaround for Google Now access

I really missed the Note 2 default of long pressing the menu key to invoke Google search. Here's the workaround I've been using today that I think is kind of cool:
Make sure S-Voice is enabled on your device. In the S-Voice app, use Menu>Settings to enable double tapping the home key to activate S-Voice. Also handy to set the "Hello Galaxy" command to wake the device into S-Voice.
Activate S-Voice by double tapping the home key, or saying "Hello Galaxy" while the device is asleep.
Once S-Voice is listening, say "Open Google".
Once Google search is open, you can say "Ok Google" as normal.
This sounds more involved than it actually is, and I now feel I have a way to get fast access to my preferred voice assistant again.

You can use wanam to remap hardware keys. So you can actually make it open Google now directly

Not rooted. Should probably have mentioned that.

Also should mention that, unlike remapping the buttons, this technique gives you a way to kind of "bootstrap" yourself using voice alone from screen off right into google now with the mic active.

Another option is to use a custom launcher. Apex allows you to bring up Google now with the menu key. Don't know how you feel about ditching touch wiz though.

1. Go to app S Voice, enable home key to activate S Voice.
2. Go to app info for S Voice, clear defaults.
3. Go to your touchwiz home screen and double click your home button, it should ask to set default for the search.
4. Select Google and put always.
I have google as my default this way..

Hmm. I would love for mine to work that way, but when I go into the app info for S Voice, the button to clear defaults is disabled and it says no defaults are set.
I do have the option within S Voice set to activate S Voice when double tapping the home key, and that is working.
When I posted this, I assumed everyone not rooted had the same situation as me, where there was simply no way to have anything but S Voice be the default for a home key double tap.
Seems that's not the case, though I can't imagine why.

Unfortunately, this does not work for me. When I go into S-Voice, the home key option is already enabled. The option to "clear defaults" is grayed out in the App Manager. Disabling and re-enabling the home key in S-Voice does nothing. Same with clearing all S-Voice data in the App Manager.

Same here. Also, when I disable S-Voice entirely using the App Manager, I still don't get an option to set the home key double click to Google Now.
Use this app

I can confirm that this works. If you hold the menu key for a short period, Google Now pops up and if you hold it longer S Finder pops up.
i agree with gator, home2 is the best at that. i have used it for about a yr or so and its flawless

Oneplus gestures

https://www.xda-developers.com/how-...es-navigation-oneplus-5-5t-android-10-update/
This is present on the 8 Pro too, but back also trigger home in my case ?
Does anyone know why and how to fix?
Same for me love the old one plus gesture of swiping up from the corners to go back, and this edit using the app in the article brings that back, but correct when you swipe up from corner instead of taking you back to the previous page in an app etc ,it just takes you straight to home screen .
It seems both OP gestures and a10 gestures are on simultaneously. There should be a way to disable a10 ones
I got it fully working on my 8 Pro I just need the assistant disabled it keeps popping up when I go back. I asked on the other thread (themes and apps) of the 2 button gestures control got no reply it's been a fews days. If after you set it in the app to activate then in settings, and buttons and gestures you should just see the how to on the bottom of the screen with no option to pick it but there activated

Disable assistant on settings
---------- Post added at 12:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:13 PM ----------
Settings>apps& notification>default apps>assist & voice input>assist app> none
I wasn't able to disable Assistant as I have no option other than Google in the Assist & Voice input.
I found a way to disable the Assistant with the following adb command:
Code:
adb shell settings put secure assistant 0
This will remove the assistant gesture completely.
The only problem, that the setting resets after restart.
Another possible solution is to install Tasker from the Play Store and start it up.
Go to Settings > Apps & notifications > Default apps > Assist & voice input > Assist app. Select Tasker and click OK.
Perform the assistant gesture and click "Stop Reminding".
Open Tasker again and in the menu on the top right just select Disable Tasker.

You can disable it through settings. Unsure of exactly where the setting is, but in settings, search for default assist.
Is it just me that despite all this tricks still ends up home when swiping for back on the right hand side?
I manage to only go back, but for that to work I need to swipe aaaal the way to the right (like on the curved part), and still there it triggers the to lines coming in from the sides and meeting up in the middle. I think this is something like a animation for the assistant.
I didn't know I was able to disable it (Google Assistant). thank you very much. Done and back to stock OnePlus gestures control. ? Much appreciated

And this option (none) as it is shown on the picture isn't shown to me. There are only Google Assistant, Firefox and a third app to choose but the option"none"is not offered. So it seems I am unable to disable the Assistant to get back the OnePlus gestures. Someone has any advice how to get it disabled?
If you follow my post to change it via the command of just change it to use Tasker, it'll work.
I don't have to option to select nothing either, but with the ADB command, you can force it, until a restart and this method will disable the gesture completely. If you decide to use tasker, the gesture will stay there, so you'll see the lines going from the corners towards the middle, but no action to8 be performed.

Yeah I have the same problem in apps and notifications / default apps./ Assist. On previous devices this is where I disabled the assistant, but the option none isn't here. The one found if searching for "default assist" is somewhere else, I think somewhere in Google settings as the background color changes to a lighter one.

Hello, is this still possible with the new Android 11 update? I just tried the op_gesture_button_side_enabled and it only sort of works, I can disable google assistant with adb however swipe up from the bottom side triggers both back and home action now.. Anyone solved this problem?
