Desire 820 Dual Sim Roms Work Single Sim ? - Desire 820 General

Hello huys,
I use desire 820n single sim. But Rom developers use dual sim. I use dual sim roms on single sim ?
This is yes or no ?

if you are S-Off you can flash every rom.
If you are S-ON you are limited to your CID operator/country, and your Single Sim, like me. Try tomals discovery rom, is the best rom to 820N on Lollipop (im using it)

WARNING: UNREVOKED TOOL from this URL DOESN'T WORK ON HTC 820
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile...on-htc-android-phones-with-unrevoked-forever/
"In their devices, HTC have installed a sort of security check whose level is determined by S-OFF/S-ON. Essentially, this security level is a flag stored on the device’s radio that checks signature images for any firmware before it is allowed to be written to system memory. This hinders using any custom ROMs, splash images, recovery etc., and also restricts access to the NAND flash memory. However, when security level is set to S-OFF, the signature check is bypassed, allowing a user to upload custom firmware images, unsigned boot, recovery, splash and HBOOT images, as well as official firmware that has been modified, this enabling maximum customization of your HTC Android device.
Furthermore, S-OFF also reduces restrictions on accessing the NAND flash memory on the device, allowing all partitions (including /system) to be mounted in write mode while the operating system is booted."
On HTC 820 you need hardware to make S-OFF. You cannot do it via software. You need XTC2CLIP

You can use dual sim rom, but you can't flash dual sim firmware(coz of s-on). In some cases it may not work, but several time ago i had dual sim rom, and SIM2 was just showing "no service". Everything worked.

1. You need a paid tool called XTC2Clip to perform S-OFF
2. There isn't many ROM other then stock can be installed on 820, there are still a few ROMs like MIUI7.

[Q] How to make s-off and super CID(sim free)?

I use Unrevoked, and I still got s-on,how can I solve that?I want to make s-off.And my WF is still unlocked(sim),This is my bigest problem, pls help
Both are not possible as of now on the Wildfire. The only way to unlock is to buy an unlock code, and, S-OFF is still no possible on the Wildfire. (AlphaREV is supposed to implement this, but, it there is no release yet)

£100 for that!! if you are rooted, you can use clockwork mod to access /system and other system folders (similar to s-off, but you are responsible if you brick your device in doing so). to unlock your device, contact your carrier. they should be able to do it for between £0 and £20

To goldcard the phone to bypass Cid please search the forum. Xda does not need another novice adding more stuff to it. That is already there
Edit. This will not provide s-off just the ability to flash any buzz ruu

[GUIDE] China Unicom 802W Dual Sim.. how to root and install Google Apps

Update Dec 2013
Rather than following all the steps in my post below.. I suggest that if you are looking to have 802W with English or European ROM, Google Apps, English blinkfeed etc.. that you follow the instructions in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48247850&postcount=1
*************************************************************************************************************************************************
Update 9th July 2013.
Android 4.2.2 has been released for the 802W since this thread was started. I suggest that you apply any OTA updates to your phone BEFORE rooting as you cannot apply them automatically afterwards.
you can then follow the process as outlined below to Root your phone, or alternatively you can just install the Google apps from the HTC store.
I have added at the end of this post some links to some of the most useful posts and downloads available throughout this thread.
=============================================================================================================================
I have now successfully rooted my dual sim HTC ONE .. model 802W from China Unicom.. by following the steps in this posting :
http://bbs.gfan.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=6174406&extra=&page=1
but even with the help of my Chinese speaking wife, and google translate it wasn't exactly easy.. so to save you the work these are the steps I followed:
Note I am assuming that you have some knowledge and experience in rooting android phones, using ADB, fastboot etc, and you have the usb drivers installed, as well as set up your phone to allow USB debugging etc.
1) Unlock your phone go to http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader and follow the procedure there .
2) download and unzip the zip file which contains clockwork mod recovery image, SuperSU.zip and the google apps installer from http://rapidshare.com/files/885321457/HTC1_802W Root.zip
3) Switch off the phone and boot it into Bootloader mode. Coonect the phone to your computer with usb cable.
4) Open a command window in the folder where the cwm802w.img file is placed. Now type the following
fastboot flash recovery cwm802w.img
This will then flash Clockwork mod to your phone.
5) copy the SuperSU and Google apps zip files to your EXternal SD card
Reboot into clockwork mod recovery
And first flash the superSUxxxxx.img file from your external SD card, and then flash the google apps .img file.
Voila!..
***************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
Okay a lot of water under the bridge since my original post...
I will try and add in links here for other useful info found in this thread so its all in one place... if i'm missing anything pm me and let me know!

Be aware of others want to use this method, it is not root your phone only but is to flash a custom rom which has root authority. This rom has all google app and remove 3 dot menu mod included.
If you want to keep the original rom but just want to root you shall use the method in first post.

I just did some more research on that website and cannot see any mention on availability of a recovery for the China mobile 802T version.
I suspect that you wont be able to use that version in the US or outside China for 3G data as that uses TD-SCDMA which hasnt been widely adopted by any network operators outside china?
Yeah, I'm afraid you're right, but since I live in China it's ok. I only need to get it more international since I can't read Chinese.
So, do you think your recovery could work for me?
Thx

Hi there,
I just purchase HTC M7 802W (china unicom version with 2 simcard)
But Since I Need google framework (google appslaystore, map, gmail, google contact etc etc etc more importantly, I live in Indonesia)
Then I guess I need to install the google apps into my HTC one.
The question is:
Is it possible to install the google apps without flashing the recovery?
If there is one, can somebody share it here?
So is the device dual on? Or is it single on with easy switching?
I'm thinking of getting the 802d variant, but I'm not sure if it can be used in Indonesian CDMA network though. Theoretically, it should work as the frequency bands are the same. But if it doesn't, then I'm screwed big time, cos I think the GSM network on 802d is stuck on EDGE only.

802d supports 800/1900 CDMA, same as Indonesian carriers. Roaming internationally, it will pick up UMTS 900/2100. I've rooted my 802d, but haven't tried other sim cards in the primary slots, so I don't know if there might be a carrier/sim lock there.
In any event, to root 802d, the recovery for 802t can be used, I've tested it.
The device concurrently uses both sims, and you can call or sms out of either by choosing the corresponding touch button (named "slot 1"/"slot 2")

Nice! Are you from China? Maybe you can loan me your 802d so I can test it on Indonesian network. Hehehehe.
That's the problem though. I know the frequency band 800/1900 is the same. But I'm worried our Indonesian RUIM card maybe rejected.
But you are saying I can still use the secondary GSM network and I can get at least a UMTS/3G ?
Thanks! Worked on my 802t. No I only need to figure out how to bypass the Google apps block in China....

Thank you very very very very very very very much aki0306. But may I please ask if it is for dual sim or single sim version ? I bought this phone from Dubai (so probably asian version) with dual sim capability and soft bricked it when trying to root it. The phone is only 3 days old and I bought it while I was holidaying in Dubai. Now I am in NZ and cant go back to ask for the repair and so dependent on the people like you who provide the RUU for that dual sim phone. Any help would be much appreciated.

How about freezing or uninstalling the blinkfeed using Titanium backup and reinstalling sense 6? Not sure if it works but can give it a try! It would pay to nandroid backup, before you play with it.

Hey aki0306, do you know what happen when you install it over the dual sim version ? Does everything fails or it will install properly but you can use only a single sim ? Did any of the users tried by any chance ?

Desire 816N middle east (BACK TO STOCK)

Folks! this is tested on Desire 816N with HBOOT 3.18 others do at your own risk. (Single SIM Version)
now that you have tried your hands on everything like unlock bootloaders, rooted, changing boot.img's, flashing rom's from other variants, trying all sort of recoveries...
and you find out that you have screwed a lot of things like SMS, OTG bla bla bla..
now at some point you get tired and want get back to PURE STOCK as how you bought your fav device. but your warranty will charge you since you screwed up from top to the bottom.
FINE! lets say thank's but no thank's we want to get things done for free free free
Ok so here what we have to do.
download and copy the zip file to the root of your sd card after pulling out the sd card out from phone, hook it in the card reader and copy from the computer.
the zip file is the sense 6.0 firmware RUU file provided by MIYACHIKI to be flashed from fastboot menu
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358538793
download and keep it when the link is up. afterwards please do not tell me to re upload it.
rename it to 0P9CIMG.zip before coping to the SD card.
1) reboot to boot loader
2) flash this boot file provided by jithumon https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4m...it?usp=sharing (fastboot flash recovery filename.img)
3) fastboot oem lock
4) if the mobile restarting keep the vol down button pressed so that you are back in bootloader menu.
5) if your mobile is showing fastboot, take the cursur to the fastboot and press power button will change it to hboot and automatically will start flashing the files. the whole thing will take more than half an hour. system unziping and updating will happen 4 times don't panic.
one's everything is done it will ask you to press the power button to reboot the device. DO NOT SWITCH IT OFF BEFORE THAT.
VIOLA! and the party begings.
the first boot will show you that you have new updates available. download and flash.
all the problems you were facing by flashing roms from other variants are solved.
for example.
while booting it will not show developer version
it won't show tampared at the bootloader screen
your SMS will start working
your OTG will work flawlessly
now once again you can charge in power off mode
SPOILER:
We face a minor problems.
1) the bootloader will show as "relocked" instead of "locked"
I guess you can even give the device for claim if any thing goes wrong with the hardware if the guys over there are not very smart i mean the only thing stoping us is the "relocked" status.

ok sekhar, HTC Sold Desire 816N for middle east some said it's a dual sim and others claim its a 4G. when you actually go to see, it's a 4G single sim the other sim slot is simply closed with a rubber and when you open it it's a tai tai fish! i don't know how you get your hands over dual sim in Dubai. if you see Dubai souq.com you will find 816N
I bought it from DJ Sharf store in Dubai mall and they said there are two models available and he asked me to choose whether 4G or dual SIM 3G version. Then I choose this dual SIM version.
Also the middle east version has got a typical fast download feature in the rom where you can download anything faster using both WiFi and network internet at the same time. This feature was not given in any of the roms available. So I was so looking for that when you say it is a middle east version.

Hey @jacktackle, although your system says as relocked, you can unlock the bootloader again in the same manner as you would do to unlock your bootloader freshly. It is just that you will get a new code to unlock your bootloader. So if anyone using the previous bootloader code to re-unlock your device, it shouldnt work other than that it should work though. So it is not a big spoiler.
The only thing is in my fastboot bootloader screen, everything is showing up as invalid except Hboot and OS version. Not sure how to fix that. But this is only due to flashing a different country's rom on your device. This should not stop you getting any OTA's as long as the status of your bootloader is still relocked.

the only reason i called it a spoiler because if you claim for warranty they might see that it's relocked and nothing else.

Yea, i see comments that everything is working
The site is probably fake
I tried downloading the so-called ROM (which is being split into 3 zips, which is weird) and it was hosted on downloadsafe, which I believe is also fake. And the comments are fake too, the site doesn't even have a user login, so how come there are "testers" with PROFILE PICTURES comment on that?
I know how disappointing it sounds, but sadly I'm almost sure that there are no lollipop ROMs available at this time.

http://www.upgrade-lollipop.org/mp3-...-820-6636.html ==> Fake
I already found plenty of similar links about several devices. They said they copied the procedure from XDA forums but this doesn't exists on it -> no more comments needed I think
... but I can't wait to see Lollipop on a 64bits CPU
No Custom ROM yet, not even CM12??
It is hard for me to digest the fact that it has been nearly 3/4th of a year since Desire 820 DS has been available and yet there is no 5.0 custom ROM. It is weird.
Not even CyanogenMod 12??? We should have at-least a nightly build of 64-bot CM12/12.1 available for D820 DS!
On a side not, D816 users have reported that if you upgrade to lollipop (official) without doing a hard factory reset then you might get memory issues. One of the users reported that he did a hard factory reset before upgrading to official 5.0 update and it seems that everything is working very much fine. But that was for Desire 816, who knows we might have a totally different issue since it'll be a 64-bit build.
Guys I have posted stock recovery file link at the forum, do fast boot flash.
