CorvusROM v.0.0.1 (ALPHA) for D5, K8 mini, etc (Android 5.1) - Other SmartWatches

This is my first ROM for a MTK device, so you will need to have some patience.
No files by now, because it's a pre-alpha. Once the rom is somewhat useable I will upload the needed files.
By now you can see:
http://imgur.com/tzUFoD0
Please, don't ask me for files. I will work on this image only in my sparse time, so the development could be slow.
WORKING:
Wifi
Bluetooth
Lights (screen brightness)
NOT WORKING:
Audio
Default android launcher (no watchface)
Sensors
No Gapps
NOT TESTED:
Modem

For my use

And this too

Cojo sitio!
Enviado desde mi MX4 mediante Tapatalk

Very nice

Amazing!

Nice! I think with us devs playing to our strengths we should be able to put some polish on the W812a. A working 5.1 base also opens up a few doors app wise.

Excellent idea, and thank you for this work. It is a pleasure to see these active community for this device.
Sorry for my translation by goolge

Very pleased to see this @corvus
Great effort mate - thanks very much !
This will open be a big step forward in the way of development.
Let us know if there's anything we can do.
I have a K8 Mini, a D5 and a K8 regular round - so does @Lokifish Marz and @cyrux75.
Cheers

There are some big problems with this rom. I try to port the launcher of the K8 mini but like Lokifish said in another thread there is not a unique apk and some resources are spread in several apks in the stock image. Audio is not working, and I do everything that I can to get it working, but by now no luck, and the bigger problem is sensors, they have some kernel modules (not a problem, because we use the same kernel) that are loaded with a bunch of binary files, and those binary files only run in KitKat, and don't work in Lollipop (and they will never work without recompile them to work in L), so no sensors in this image and seems that we will never get them until some chinese manufacturer release a L image in a device with this sensors.
I try to port the Omate Truesmart+ image that it's Lollipop and same mtk chipset, but without luck (and seems that they have another sensors, so I don't spend so much time on this).
So, if some one with more experience that me in mtk devices wants to take a look or ask something, I'm open to share my work with anyone.

What about a simple ROM with Nova Launcher and GAPPS?

Without audio or sensors? and with a draining battery... I'm not sure that this will be useful for anyone. I could share the zip, but I don't want users without the needed knowledge using it, breaking their devices and coming back to ask me why it's not working.
Anyway I continue searching for another rom from where make a porting with the same sensors.

Vamos, que la rom es bastante inutil por ahora y no quiero romper nada a nadie. Pero sigo investigando...

The W3 is completely different architecture. It uses an Ingenic M200 MIPS.

I stumbled across this one:

I'm actually not a developer, but maybe it is of some use for your work. At least it is our chipset and kernel.

Yes, one of this roms is what I use as base, but sensors are hardware dependant and watch has not the same hardware than a phone

[ROM] Minimalist 3.1 - Stock, Stable and Completely Deodexed

Another ROM you say? I've tried all the Acer-based 3.1 custom ROMs and none of them seem to suit my needs. They seem to add lots more bloatware and tweaks that made my tablet quite unstable.
So I went ahead and built my own ROM which essentially is a pruned-stock standard Acer 3.1 with only the barest minimal features to maintain speed and stability of the system. I've also gone ahead and deodexed most all of the frameworks and apps so feel free to mod this rom to add custom skins and animations if you so please. I'm sharing my work in the hope that you will find it useful.
The ROM can be downloaded here - http://www.multiupload.com/9H43RO49H0
Please leave questions, comments and queries below.
*Patch update* - I made a slight error in the update script and didn't set the right permissions for Superuser access. Apply this patch to fix it if your ROM doesn't have a working Superuser.apk - http://www.multiupload.com/RUO6SVRXEV
Stable ROMs are always welcomed. Never too many of those!
I like them too, i will give it a shot!
Anyone tried it yet? Thoughts? I have it ready to go, but would like to hear what others think before jumping in.
Updated the ROM to fix the root access.
Saludos !
Thanks for this ROM. I had been deleting apps I did not want but could not get past the Vendor subdirectory. This is now my daily ROM.
Does this still have the annoying, battery wasting "screen on in standby" problem?
Just installed it and work well for me. Thanks!
I'm going to try this now, I'm unimpressed with the acer 3.1 update, lots of FC, dhcp issue on wifi, overloaded ram (seems to have worse mm than 3.0.1).
argh!
looking forward to yours!
Thanks for the rom .slight problem can t seem to gain root acsess i installed the su patxch even though i have a working superuser .apk/ using v1.2 gingerbreak can t root help!!!

Sorry if Superuser isn't working for you. I didn't test the update script for the patch so that might be why. I have however updated the main ROM image in Post 1 to have support for SU.

Is there anyway to pre-build root access and USB 3G support in your ROM?

Yes, I can make a patch that you can apply to your stock ROM to get USB 3G support.
ETA ~ 4-5 hours.

Anyone got the cifs.ko working? with this rom? i used the same cifs.ko i used with the leaked kernel so it should be ok
Hello folks. I am new owner of the Acer A500 and naturally, a total noob in these matters, but could the OP please post installation instructions and perhaps even a list of what has been taken out from the stock Acer firmware??
Hope I am not asking for too much here.
This is weird, I was using p2-2 rom and had it oc'ed at 1540. I have been switching back and fourth between roms to see which is more smooth and stable, Mininmalist 3.1 was the last I tried that I am on now, And this rom is running fast and very stable, I think I'll stay with minimalist.

Miracast on ZTE Blade L3

Hi, this is my first post. I'm a self-experienced using Android. For year I had no problems with my devices. I had a Motorola G 1st generation who worked fine, but I waste it. Now, I bought ZTE Blade L3. Such as Moto G, Miracast feature is not enable (at least in my stock rom).
I want to know if this device is compatible with that technology (read that works in every phone since 4.2.x).
This phone has Android KK 4.4.4.
Tried to first connect trough WiFi Direct a Miracast Dongle (easycast), but the phone doesn't connect. Then, I tried whith screen cast option, and the same. Finally, I looked forums how to unlock modifying bootloader.ini, just as I had to do Moto G. I added the lines with BuildProp editor after rooting with Kingo Root:
persist.sys.wfd.virtual=0
persis.debug.wfd.enable=1
AAAAAND nothing happens
I need some help, first to know compatibility (wifi drect certification page is down, unfortunately), if there is a ROM that solve this problem (CM maybe?) and if there are other lines that I must add to buildprop.
Thank you very much for your asnwers, and sorry for the bad english (I'm from Chile).
If you need any further information, please ask!!!
UPDATE: use #MirrorEnabeler and the message is "Your Rom is lacking the audio_submix file. You must contact your device mantainer and ask them NICELY no imlement it. Please refer to the red part of the original post on XDA-Developers" This going to take long time, so decided to install stock ROM from other country using SP Flash tool, to see if it has the same problem.
UPDATE 2: Stock ROM from other country, same problem. Rooted the phone to make changes using KingRoot. Followed instructions from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/har...experimental-enable-mirroring-device-t2812193 The thread was closed, and will create another thread for dongles (no chromecast)
It says, or those STILL having issues,
Check /system/lib/hw directory for the file "audio.r_submix.default.so".
If it doesn't exist, ask your device maintainer to add audio.r_submix.default to
the product_packages in the device.mk file. (You may not know what it means, but they will.)
So, Asked my mobile company to do the changes, they said "the manufacter must". Contacted ZTE to do what is being said, and ther is still no answer.
Will ask in thread posted after, to see if they can help me. Please let me know if somebody can run Miracasr in his Blade (also did't found another ROM that's not a Stock one)
created another thread in hacking software http://forum.xda-developers.com/har...e/help-to-enable-miracast-feature-to-t3209364

Stable custom ROM for Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 (T320)

What is the latest custom stable ROM available for Tab Pro 8.4 (SM-T320)?
I have been using this Tab since 2015. Still it is running Kitkat 4.4.2 version. It is ok but I need to upgrade my OS to ensure support for newer applications.

1. ColtOS ( Android 10 )
There are not as many Custom Roms for SM-t320. I have used almost all the latest SM-t320 Roms. And I found Colt OS to be the best:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-pro-12-10-8/orig-development/rom-coltos-t4090429
PROS:
Unlike all SM-t320 roms ColtOS is actually Official Rom, that get updates. Its is packed with lots of customization and its quite stable.
CONS:
So I have been using ColtOS for a while now and it seems to hang some times. Like just stop working. Or it slows down alot and gets back to its normal speed again. You can easily fix this by holding the power button until it reboots.
2. LineageOS ( Android 10 )
This Rom is Very Stable And Has Lots Things Working. I actually only glitched on this rom like 2-3 times. It is very stable. The Only Thing I didnt like about this ROM is that it is very Stable but not Customizable. Thats why I switched to ColtOS.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...nt/rom-lineageos-17-0-android-10-0-q-t4014565
PROS:
This ROM is very stable and almost everything is working!
CONS:
This Rom is Not Customizable. There are VERY few customizations which makes it fell basic. But you still get the Android 10 UI.
So yeah now its up to you to decide. Also Let Me Let You Know that I am compiling Evolution-X for SM-t320 and AospRemix for SM-t320. Both Android 11, So yeah those will be upcoming soon!!
Is there any upgrade patch available so that I can at least upgrade from Kikat to Orio (Android 8) without rooting? Because rooting seems a little complex.

I have the same question. What is currently the best Rom?
Using my SM-T320 as a daily driver Resurrection Remix 5.8.10 (28/01/19) works best for me. Despite it is only Android 7.1.2 all apps I need run properly. It runs faster and smoother than any other ROMs I tried: LineageOS 16 to 18 and even the official ColtOS 6.5.

Have you encountered problems with the speaker sound not working with LIneage OS or Colt OS?
I recently tried to flash LineageOS 17, Lineage OS 13, and Colt OS 6.5 onto my Samsung Galaxy Pro Tab 8.4 (SM-T320) and all the programs work but the speaker sound doesn't work for all 3 OSes.
I wonder if I missed a big step or did something out of order when installing the OS.

Speakers work fine with all ROMs when playing media. When playing games the sound is often not clean with LineageOS and ColtOS.
On the latest Stock ROM I only flashed TWRP (without rooting), made a complete backup (but luckily never needed), then installed RR-N-v5.8.10-20190128-mondrianwifi-Unofficial.zip and Gapps ARM 7.1 Nano. It wasn't a big deal.

Thanks. I wasn't able to install RR-N-v5.8.10-20190128-mondrianwifi-Unofficial beause it kept saying there was an error/mismatch, but I was able to install an earlier version RR-N-v5.8.5-20180916-mondrianwifi-Unofficial.
The weird thing is the OS actually makes its notification/bootup sound when it boots up, but then the sound is completely disabled again when I am fully booted into the OS.
I believe it is some sort of driver issue where the LineageOS, Colt, and RR aren't loading up the drivers correctly. I just flashed the stock OEM ROMS and now the sound works...so the speakers are fine.
Edit: I think I fixed it. For some reason, all my notification sounds play fine but the media sounds only play through the headphone. So I had to get a program to disable headphones to get the media sounds to work.

I am making an stable Touchwiz 5.1.1 rom port from tab pro 12.2, if everything goes up to plan, soon it will be on xda. Its an continuation of the lollidrian rom. I have made and custom kernel for it, and even in its current alpha state it is the most stable rom I have used on my tab pro 8.4. I was able to use youtube for 2h with no restarts and no overheating.
The working things are:
Gpu, 3d acceleration
Wifi
Gps
screen and its brightness control
audio
usb
storage
headphones
touchscreen
keys light
smart filp cover

Can someone please help me? I am going to root my Samsung tab pro and already watched the video posted above on the how to. I want to be able to download a newer version of Android since it’s still running KitKat 4.4. Can someone point me in the right direction on how to install a newer version and where to get the files. I honestly don’t really know what I am doing but I am smart enough to follow directions lol. Any help is appreciated!!
I have tried a few ROMs. If you really want to enjoy the tablet, then I can only recommend LineageOS 20. This ROM is by far the best custom ROM I know for our Galaxy Pro 8.4. All other ROMs are not bad, but have here and there some quirks or do not run smoothly enough!

I'm not responsible for any damage to your device of any sort. By flashing this, you take responsibility of anything that happens. Process at your own risk! If you want to check - please make backup. Better to store all partitions. What works...

No, Huawei shut down their service for unlocking the bootloader (which is required to do any modding really) a long time ago. Since these new phones could never be unlocked at all, their bootloader can't be extracted and modded to use with PotatoNV is my guess, pretty new to this topic though.

Nubia Alpha Jailbreak?

Hello! I've recently got my hands on a brand new Nubia Alpha. This device is based on Snapdragon 2100 and uses modified Android Wear (based on Android 7.1). But global version is a crap - it does not have ability to install apps. That ability is just locked away. That's ridiculous!
So I want to unlock my device to make it fully functional. I've tried:
Installing apps via adb install. It says:
Code:
>>adb install WearforInstagram.apk
$ adb: failed to install WearforInstagram.apk:
Exception occurred while dumping:
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: forbiden install apk.
at com.android.server.pm.PackageInstallerService.createSessionInternal(PackageInstallerService.java:581)
Yep, with misspelled "forbiden". Some proprietary locking mechanism, I guess.
Invoking package.installer via ADB. It does not work as installer, which is pretty common for Wear devices. I managed to call uninstallation screen that finishes successfully, but it has no effect on any app.
Calling system and factory apps using ADB. Looks like no special engineering menu is present here.
Using ADB --disable command to stop some system processes and see native interface. Yep, that works, and I even managed to disable a launcher. But then Alpha displays just "Loading Android" screen with running circle. No crashes to some fallback GUI, sadly.
Bootloader unlock from Fastboot. Does not works, displaying a standard message about oem lock.
DirtyCow exploit to get root. That could work... but ah, ADB shell seems pretty limited - I can't use chmod there, so I can't run anything executable from PC. I had an sh, but Shellshock vulnerability seems fixed here.
Temporary TWRP loading from Fastboot. Nope, it is locked too.
So, I've started to run out of ideas.
What should I try next to free my device from that nasty lock?
Thanks!
I bought a nubia alpha, is there anything new?

Bootloader unlock from Fastboot. Does not works, displaying a standard message about oem lock.
DirtyCow exploit to get root. That could work... but ah, ADB shell seems pretty limited - I can't use chmod there, so I can't run anything executable from PC. I had an sh, but Shellshock vulnerability seems fixed here.
Temporary TWRP loading from Fastboot. Nope, it is locked too.
So, I've started to run out of ideas.
What should I try next to free my device from that nasty lock?
Thanks!

Couple of month ago I also tried things on my own but I lost hope. For the unlock part did you try this command ?
Code:
fastboot oem nubia_unlock NUBIA_SW1002

There are actually 2 versions : the eSim Version and the bluetooth ( or global ) version. I think the eSim version is only available in China and it is the unlocked version where you can easily install app. For the Bluetooth version (ours) it looks like there is a lot of restriction. But Definitely we could have a great toy in our hands if it was unlocked....
I don't know if anyone speak Chinese but there is a lot of Chinese forum, maybe they also have hack but I could find anything good as I am using google translate. I remember finding a small exe file to push apk to the watch but couldn't make it work.
Here is a link

I don't know if anyone could make it work on bluetooth version

SO in theory you guys are saying, that the Chinese eSim version would work if properly set up?
Any chance we could modify the ROM on the International Version (or even chinese). My main concern with the china version is the lack of bluetooth tbh - as without an esim it'd be impossible to connect to a phone. While Local providers here do allow the configuration of an eSim, im concerned it wont work - let alone the fact that we do not know whether the China version allows for app installs.
So in essence we're here, someone correct me if im wrong:
1. Chinese version of the watch MAY allow installing apps.
2. International version of the watch MAY allow for the Chinese ROM to be installed .
Any ideas if the above would work?
Any ideas on modding the International ROM?
Additionally I made a reddit thread on it, that's going nowhere aswell.

Hi everyone,
My message is just to support you in what you are trying to achieve. The OS I confirm is horrible, and the worst part is that its biggest strength (its huge display) it is nowhere used to its full extent, starting from the watchfaces.
It is such a pity that such a marvel in terms of HW is ruined by such a poor SW.
I personally got the Nubia Watch and I was wondering in terms of OS/ROM how different it really is from the Nubia Alpha ?
I do only have limited skills in rooting devices, but I am willing to perform tests on my watch/es if it can help.
Let's push this!

Completely Agree. The software is so horrible, ive even thought of ways to make it work with some RaspberryPi or any device that provides better support - even though realistically it seems unlikely that it'd be possible knowing the way manufacturers design screen cables .
Im realistically open to anything to make it function properly and provide us with a window of opportunity to leverage the capacities of the device.

Well, that is the part I have already been through. I know the details of the display HW and it uses a MIPI interface that could be theoretically interfaced to a Raspberry. However, the connector (which includes both signals for display and touch, see attached photo) requires an adapter (contacts are super tiny). That would need to be built on a custom PCB, requiring fairly high electronics skills. On top of that since the resolution (960x192) is not standard I'm sure several custom parameters would need to be set. Last but not least a driver would need to be found/written in order to be able to talk to the display controller (RM69330).
As an alternative, an evaluation board like the one from ST could be used, but the same issues would apply.
32F469IDISCOVERY - STMicroelectronics
32F469IDISCOVERY - Discovery kit with STM32F469NI MCU, STM32F469I-DISCO, STMicroelectronics

That's why the easiest option is still to use the Nubia HW...

Great post.
Ill still investigate how can this be expedited as a process - while of course I focus on a way to leverage the current handset.
Even if we can interface it with a RaspberryPI, most raspberries tend to be pretty large for the power they provide - so I'm not to keen on doing that tbh.

Hi,
Thank you for the post.
My understand is that the Chinese Esim version does have the Bluetooth/Wifi. The Esim is just an additionnal feature. You can read the description of Esim here : https://www.fonearena.com/blog/276408/nubia-alpha-price-specifications.html
So to me your are right on both point,
1- The Chinese version allow installing apk. In a previous a post a link to a tool I found on a Chinese website.
2- International version of the watch MAY allow for the Chinese ROM to be installed. To me the difference between the Chinese and Bluetooth are only on a software level. The HW should be the same. ( this is only my thought)
I tried hard to find the original Esim Rom but wasn't able to find it.... But knowing that I'm not the only one working on it bring my hopes back

@RomeusPrime
I did see your post about the tool on the Chinese website. I was able to see the file list but I wasn't able to download them since apparently, it requires to have an account that can be created only with a Chinese phone number. Am I missing something?
Definitely bring your hopes (and contributions) back ;-)
Thanks!

Hey thanks for the heads up!
That's a big step in the right direction. It seems that Aliexpress. Has the chinese version available. Maybe it's worth a try to get it.
Would i be able to unlock the eSim?
Does it have english?
And if i do get it would I be able to pull an image of the ROM for you guys?
Is it the same thing with the Nubia watch (that one seems a bit prettier)?
I think we should keep this thread alive and slowly work on this until we have a solution.

From the information I have I can tell the following:
1) The Chinese version you are pointing out supports both Chinese and English languages.
2) The e-Sim it is stated works only in China. Not sure whether this is a software lock or else.
The supported frequencies are as follows:
2G: GSM:1800
3G: WCDMA:2100; CDMA:BC0
4G: LTE FDD:B1/B3; TDD-LTE:B38/B39/B40/B41
Ultimately however the goal is to unlock the OS, so even if eventually the e-SIM does not work it will be just like the global version, which I understand is the one we all currently have.
Nubia alpha vs Nubia Watch: they of course definitely share a lot of features, see the attached comparison.
The main difference being the camera on the Alpha. The internal PCB I would assume it is different since on the Watch it has been reduced greatly in size.
The major difference I see however is in the ROM/software. Just by comparing the available pre-installed apps and settings the 2 watches are quite different.
I currently own a Nubia Watch Global, but I would pull the trigger on the Alpha Chinese if that can help.
I would personally suggest creating a new thread in which we start collecting all useful information and keep updating the initial sticky post? This could attract more interest and stimulate people to contribute. Or we could ask the moderators to create the Nubia Alpha/Watch dedicated section. Agree?
Let's continue!

Completely agree.
Also sounds (id rather not experiment) like ill pull the trigger to the Nubia Alpha Chinese Version these days aswell so that we can work on something concrete. I dont care about the esim so im not really worried about that.
Also if mods could create a section for us to talk and share it'd increase the exposure we get and hopefully pull more people in - as well as itd make it much easier to followup on this task.
