Looking for porting CM for ZE551KL (maybe other models as well) - Zenfone 2 Laser Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys
I want to build CM for ZE551KL (doesn't have much time now but I want to know how to start). I was searching compatible devices with CM and found that Samsung A8 has very similar specs and has a port of CM working. Tried to contact the developer and had no luck but I think we can take it as a start point for ze551kl and for other models later.
This is the place for gathering info to build CM for ZE551KL, any help is appreciated

Wish I knew more about how to develop/port. If there's testing needed for this model, i'm happy to help. Or if there's other ways, lemme know.

Have you tried booting (not flashing) the Cyanogenmod recovery? Since the recovery is a standalone OS that doesn't depend on the system partition etc, you should get a fair idea if the port is going to work. Also why not try the WileyFox Storm as a base. The Storm (codename kipper) is officially supported by both CyanogenOS and CyanogenMod:
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=kipper
https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Kipper_Info
I think the main difference is in the Snapdragon version, MSM8939 (Snapdragon 615) for the Storm and MSM8939v2 (Snapdragon 616) for ZE551KL. I suspect the version change is a mere speed bump that will be autodetected by the kernel anyway, but the recovery should work if you can boot it using fastboot.

Samsung A8 with CM isn't the version we need, so that cellphone as base is discarded.
Type-C thanks for the hints, didn't know much about CM Recovery. I was searching cellphones with same chipset [1] and found that Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 already has unofficial cyanogenmod [2] and the source code is in [3]
I think we have good background to start with, I will get my hands dirty as soon as I can

We have kernel source, root ,TWRP, official bootloader unlock and the only thing we need is ROM developers for zenfone lesers. However @rajlko has done great job in developing root solution for 550kl but I don't know whether he was working on any custom ROM for ze550kl.

we also have the official cm rom of a practically identical device (Yureka Plus).
- same processor (same architecture)
- same graphic chip
- same ram
- same screen
- both dual sim
- same storages
- some same sensors
- cameras is different
I was working on custom rom but, Unfortunately, I have brick my ze550kl, & now it s in asus service center, will have to wait for around 20 days to get it back.

CM 13 FOR MEIZU M2 NOTE (under development) UNSTABLE !

Guys I was searching from last 2 months for a cm 13 rom for my m2 note . And there is nothing. So I decided to port the ROM. And I got a similar specs ROM. And decided to port it. As there is lack of CM tree for stock development.
This is the first beta version of CM 13 for M2 NOTE.
Guys it is under development so many features won't work as it is ported. It is just a sample to try.
Link to download it:-
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B693ci4TiVJZbHZhTmVfcXpJMFU/view?usp=sharing
Link for google keyboard as it is not working after the first boot:
you can download it from apkmirror.com
Guys sorry for the link as I am a Junior Member. So I can't add link drirectly. But you can select it.
Make a backup before installing it !
Steps to install :
1. Go to recovery and Wipe :
*Advanced Wipe : Dalvik, Cache, System, Data.
2. Install it.
3.It will take time (5 Min)
4. Wipe Dalvik/Cache.
5. And Reboot System(so easy).
6. It will reboot and Finally CM 13 lands on your M2 NOTE.
7. Skip all the steps of setup.
8. Keyboard will not work as gapps are not installed.
9. You can install apk link is above.
It is a beta version so their is no question of working.
Install it, it is working quite good. But there is a lack of good features that can be changed by working on it, I will try to upload a working ROM in coming days but it is impossible without your help. Reply with Bug reports in comment. So that we can improve it. I am also inviting senior developers to help me. As I am a beginner.
Also I worked hard to develop it. So hit thanks button if you liked it.
I will try to make it fully working in future.
So guys join me and please help me.
Many things need to be change.
I am still not a full stack developer and I know you are. So please help me to develop this custom ROM. You are free to ask for the source anytime-any day.
email me any time:-
[email protected]
So i tried it and RIL doesn't work, Bluetooth doesn't work, camera doesn't work and it's not hardware accelerated, External SD card not detected,
Men port rom are so buggy and you have a lot of hard fixes to work on
Maybe you should wait for Moyster build he has only to fix the camera
Hello, This ROM is compatible with all version of Meizu M2 Note?
M2 Note M571U, M571C, M571H and M571M? Thank you very much for the support!
I'm going to test the rom, thanks for sharing.

Building Lineage OS for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (N9100, trlteduos)

Hello xda community,
I would like to try my hands at building Lineage OS for the Galaxy Note 4 Duos. I was a little surprised that there seems to be not even an unofficial build for it (or cyanogenmod for that matter). Is there some technical reason why it hasn't been attempted yet that is specific to the Duos?
Otherwise, I'd be happy if someone could point me in the right direction. Maybe someone who already did it for a different model could post a basic guide since I have no experience yet in this area.
Speaking of it, my current level of experience is that I have rooted and flashed roms on android phones a few dozen times, and developed a handful of apps for android. So hopefully it's not too far outside of my skill-level.
Thank you in advance.
You can take a look at Note 4 General section, a new thread was made on how to build LinageOS for the Note 4 N910F/N910G. N9100 will not support 2nd sim if im not wrong, you need a dev who want to work on this project
Try this:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0By...llGSnVyVDVfRlE
I downloaded this from the Chinese website. The latest build is 29 April. Donno why. Give it a try.
Thank you very much, I'll give it a try when I get to it.
Btw. the url is incomplete, I'm trying the original thread.
Did it work for you? (the April 29 build )

Kind of. Fingerprint and HDR camera don't work, which was expected, but for some reason phone calls don't work for me, I can call and receive, but there is no sound on either end. Otherwise everything seemed fine and the phone performed relatively well.

I've finally managed to build it from a pure omni device tree borrowed heavily from _mone's trlte twrp device tree. Chinese variant users: please test it as thoroughly as you can, including backing up and restoring with and without encryption. If it works, _mone will push it for official support.

[Discussion] SM T819 - Lineage OS - A possible starting point!

I have been waiting quite some time for a custom rom for SM T819 but I haven't see much progress in this. I looked for a device with similar specs for our device and came across this device which already has a Lineage OS build available. Its practically the same device but with a different screen size.
LeEco Le 2 Specs: http://www.gsmarena.com/leeco_le_2-8053.php
LeEco Le 2 Lineage OS Github Repo: https://github.com/LineageOS/android_device_leeco_s2
It will be a good starting point as I think for getting a custom rom for this device with a great potential. I have read that having spec devices is a great start to porting a ROM from one device to another without specifically building it from the source. However it includes a few build prop tweaks and changing few lines on kernel which I have no technical expertise.
Looking forward for your thoughts.
It's true, personally I don't have this tab but I had experience with a Tab I used which was similar in specs with S4 Mini ..
You'll get bugs though and you can base device tree from the Leeco Phone to build ROMs
Anything new here?
Seems like @tuxing built a modified T813 LOS build for himself, but of course no LTE in there. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73992901&postcount=552
i really hate the lack of support for LTE Tablets :/
Hi guys, I don't know if i am on topic but 'cause of this lack of ROMs for the T819, can I install the one for the T813? I know there is no LTE, but if I wanna try the ROM can I install it or it is incompatible with the T819?

Not that easy, but I had a nice chat session with @LuK1337 and he explained me how to get things built and boot on T819: https://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-s2/general/guide-build-lineageos-15-1-t819-t3721477
It's not that difficult as I thought. @LuK1337 told me it's simple and even I managed to get it working.

Is Project Treble compatible with the S5?

Hi... I've been reading some news about Project Treble, and how it helps with the custom ROM development and software updates. But I want to ask. Is this working on phones like the Galaxy S5? Because it would be helpful considering the potential of this phone and how stable it is running on Nougat, and an Oreo update would be easier to Port.
Unfortunately, it's not. It is only compatible with phones that were initially shipped with Android 8.0.

But Huawei Mate 9 got an AOSP build of Oreo in one day thanks to this. And it has never gotten updated since Nougat. It used Treble as the blog said.

Mate 9 have 4.4 kernel with android Oreo. S5 have 3.4 kernel always. And treble is compatible by phones with 4.4 kernel and above. So no treble for s5.

I heard something about repartitioning, so it doesn't necessarily has to do with the Kernel, it's more like partitioning the device storage, with A/B partitions and stuff with vendor. I heard about a tool that can do that job called REPIT but I didn't do so much of a research of it.
Mi3 with snapdragon 800 on kernel v 3.10 got android p today so is there any hope for our s5s ,can it be ported to our phones like the redmi devs did
https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-mi-3-xiaomi-mi-4-xiaomi-redmi-4x-android-pie-ports/
I looked into it.
In order to get Project Treble working on our Samsung Galaxy S5, we would have to :
- Repartition device to have 2 partitions, Vendor & AOSP
1. All vendor-specific blobs should be moved to /vendor
2. Some blobs load config files from /system/etc. Just hex-edit them to load from /vendor/etc instead
3. Label and format that unused new partition as /vendor - this should be automatically done with an OTA script
4. The kernel should mount the new partition as /vendor as well
OR
https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr.../tool-capire-le-treble-terble-vendor-t3774629
Without repartitioning?
- Have a 'Treblified' ROM already installed. (I believe we have Oreo ported..)
- Have 8.1 Vendor Blobs? I don't know much about this.
Any dev willing to make this dream a reality, please, step forward!

Xiaomi have a terribke habbit of skipping android versions
Take the MiBox for example, from what i hear it never got an official 7.1.2 only leaked builds, they went from 6.0 to 8.0 and still face quite alot of bugs.
don't know if this is the right place for this but my old moto g 2014 with 3.4 kernel version just got android pi port its very smooth as per the reports, i have not installed it yet as i gave that phone to my mom. the phone runs on with a lowly snapdragon 400 chip and 1gb ram also its kernel version is 3.4 which is the same as our s5s so there might be a good chance android pie can be ported to our device

Anyone working on 9.0 for S5?
Official Aex devices will get 9.0 soon so yes I presume
The Galaxy S5 (klte) Kernel source on LOS has reportedly submitted comments about LineageOS 16. So we're having our pie soon.

I've heard from the official website of lineage os that they can turn a device into an A/B device, but I am not sure that whether the A/B device is the one that have 2 partitions, here it is (https://lineageos.org/Changelog-19/)

Its not as simple as having a/b partitions , there is a kernel issue. a simple google search wich show you guys that there is a minimum kernel version required for treble which the s5 is far and i mean far behind that minimum requirement for treble.
I know this is like off-topic but there is now a project WIP going on for Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo, since it's using 3.4 kernel, we using S5 have luck to support treble. At least if someone willing to do it.
For the AB partition it might be impossible to do so.
Now with pascua28's Intelli-Kernel we're even closer to the dream. This guy has managed to do wonders with this device... The last thing that may happen is him being able to update our Kernel version. I don't know how the A/B partition things work, but from what I've heard it requires a higher Kernel version. The S5 runs 3.4 right now, but with @pascua28 work it may get a higher version soon.
