This tutorial is for those who are on lollipop and are unable to upgrade to Marshmallow due to the error "Failed to stat /oem/oem.prop permission denied" & other status 7 errors
STEP 1 :
Download the marshmallow ota package s031 (for Pixel V1 White)

Download the marshmallow ota package s110 (for Pixel V1 Gold)
https://r3---sn-85po58p-itqe.gvt1.com/packages/data/ota/lava_pixelv1gsprout_pixelv1/c49385466d92b587bf89bff5bdaa8b444b398bff.s110-full-ota.zip
STEP 2 :
extract the zip and navigate to META-INF/com/google/android and delete the file 'updater-script' and replace it with the updater script attached below
STEP 3 :
repack the entire zip file and copy it to your sdcard
STEP 4 :
do the following in fastboot

fastboot format system
fastboot format cache
fastboot format userdata
NOTE : all your data will be lost so do a backup before
STEP 5 :
flash TWRP recovery attached below and install the OTA package , :good:

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
NOTE : after flashing the recovery do not restart the device instead press and hold power button and volume plus until you enter the bootloader menu and from it select 'recovery'

yes after downloading the ota package extract it and delete the updater-script & replace the updater-script attached above and repack the zip and install it through TWRP
I already have twrp installed and rooted device im on 5.1 lollipop...
If i dnt follow the fastboot steps...and just flash it...won't it update?

Yes it will update even without formatting anything from fastboot ,but you can't expect it to be bugfree and fully functional than a fresh marshmallow

For onscreen navigation buttons you can download & flash s031(white) ota it will also work with gold version , but capacitive buttons will be disabled & only onscreen buttons will be enabled ,I know this because I flashed gold version ota on my white pixel v1 & capacitive buttons started working ! Yes this is true white version also have capative buttons and can be activated by flashing gold version's ota ,this is a little secret LAVA kept hidden from us :silly:
& as of porting cm 13 rom ,yes I can port from source but right now I don't have access to a decent internet and computer so I can't do it , its our badluck that second gen Android one have very little development going on at the movement bcoz second gen is divided in to both mtk & snapdragon chips , but if I find any mtk6582 second gen Android one rom ,I will try porting it .

yes you can flash this as a fresh rom , if twrp is working just follow the process mentioned in post it will work .

It is just showing in twrp when i tried to flash the zip after replacing the update script...

Instead of the Jelly Bean raw fw mentioned in the guide,download the LOLLIPOP raw fw for a500cg(yes it completely works with a501cg too)here https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByyTke3RolFoUEF2Zk8ydGN4bkE/view?pref=2&pli=1 and follow the above guide, after doing all the things,u will be updated to .60 fw,do the adb sideload with .87... thats it...
This will lock your bootloader and restore the original recovery too, ur fone will be completely become to original factory one

Download kitkat version and then take these files from update: recovery.img boot.img and fastboot/droidboot.img
Boot phone to fastboot and flash these files. Then type in fastboot reboot bootloader, then open recovery and use adb sideload to flash the update what you download.

Dude, stock rom zip flashes with Stock recovery ONLY and not using twrp, if u r doing sideload of official zip,u have to be on STOCK recovery...

calibrate your batery / clear batery stats you should do it after flash new rom using TWRP or using app from app.. if you dont know how to do it use Mr. google

Man I already did it many weeks back.
You know I have gone tired of telling this simple fact to everyone, but no one understands that this is the easiest way to installa custom recovery. Even a modified boot image or any modded file can be flashed before flashing the ROM. Only that for APK's, the MD5 checksum is mandate.
So,looks like no need to unlock officially or unofficially then lol.
Spread this post like virus bro,people are trying so hard to unlock their phones officially and at the end of process unlocks unoffiially and gets so much problems because of xiaomi's worst policy of unlocking.

Btw, unlocking does not matter at all, tbh. It does not matter the worst if you are on LBL or ULBL.

You can flash ONLY official MIUI Stable/Dev ROM using Mi Flash Tool

Hi @supercowz, could you please edit the original post?
I don't think official TWRP will work. From the guide, ZCX TWRP was used and you recommended Alka TWRP, which is cofface TWRP based. The common factor between these TWRP is that they are able to bypass dm-verity (built in in settings of ZCX TWRP, cofface based TWRP's flash cracked boot.img automatically). Also, it is important to boot to recovery after flashing the modified fastboot dev else it might cause bootloop. Also official TWRP might cause bootloop.
To all:
I'm still looking for the reason why this method might work. Based on concept, bootloader starts first before recovery so the bootloader will verify if correct recovery is installed before it boots the recovery. Only explanation I can think of is that MiFlash tool and/or fastboot DEV rom is able to fool bootloader that the flashed recovery is acceptable.
To those that have tried this, can you check if your bootloader is still locked? Thanks!

So i take it that i better go back to stock and from there flash the latest version of Lineage, could you very quickly but effectively explain the steps to do that as well?

With 6.0 i mean Android Marshmellow or newer.
And about going back to stop you need to download the firmware and flash it with KDZ Updater.
There are a lot of tutorial online, and on xda too, well detailed with all necessary steps.

V10 is jellybean
V20 is kitkat
V30 is lollipop
For most of custom rom you need V30, so... Dont falsh previous firmware else you'll get black screen.
Check language and 16/32 storage too.

Great, i've done everything, and i'm pretty happy now, just have a few other things to ask i hope you're willing to answer.
First, is there a way i can improve reception, i feel sometimes my phone has some kind of problem because one second it catches the carrier, a second later it goes totally no service, it's very weird, maybe a different modem to flash could help that?
And the second thing is, is there a way besides xposed, to customize the navigation bar and few other things like the lock screen shortcuts?
Hello guys, I had successfully updated to official Pie, but now I regret it since Google Camera doesn't work.
Also, some people on the Xiaomi discord tried to install custom ROMs but they ended up bricking (or almost bricking) their phone.
Did anyone try to revert to 8.1 or just simply succeed flashing a custom ROM without facing any serious problems?
I think I'm not the only one with this issue, I'm grateful for any help provided.

me , i was no some lucky. i think i device it's brick, because after i reinstall 8.1 with november update from xiaomi website, my device boot for a few seconds with android one logo and after that he restart.
the only way to use my phone, is to install a custom rom or a android 8.1 beta (8.5.11)
Before getting back to stock 8.1 i have repartitioned in twrp and that's why am successfully installed stock 8.1 November 1 patch

This method works if u are on pixel experience ROM
And these steps are given by Gautam thapper/
Download treble twrp from XDA
Boot into twrp then go to Tissot manager from advanced options then select repartition
After select repartition u need not change any thing just press next at last u will be asked to select type of boot u have to select single boot system..
After this get into fastboot use miflash tool rest of the process are same

If you installed twrp then flash sep8.5
I have same device as you have and it's bug less rom
It's much better than stock and it is noghat too!
Here are the link of threads that is preferred and it's the only way that can use your phone as you want

You can choose between these two rom
If you Don't care about theme and some ability like this install sep8.5 lite(first link)
And if you want some stuff like edge panel floating messages and themes and these things install Secend one(sep8.5)
Both of them are bug less and completely stable and fast

You have installed twrp??
If yes download that img file then at install section select install img then look for your file and click on it then you will see boot and recovery option that you should select revovery then slide to flash
Btw download latest one from twrp.me

How ever it's great rom
But you know some roms creat for some special twrp
Just prototype solved that bug on his rom(sep8.5)
Now for this Just see which twrp is preferred on its threat
It should be zonik's twrp ikd
But just check which is recommended by dev
