this is probably an easy question to answer but im not sure so i installed titanium backup and made a backup of all my apps and i moved the backup to my sd card and i flashed a new rom so all of the info was wiped and now i cant move it back onto the phone because i dont have enough storage and everytime i make a backup of 1 app to see where it backs up to it backs it up to my device storage so is there any way to move the back up i made before to the titanium app so that i can just put all my apps back on there the way they were supposed to be?
Yes, but I advise you to keep the backups on your external SDcard so they don't get wiped out later.
After each time you do a fresh ROM install: reinstall and open Titanium backup, go to menu, then preferences. Scroll down a bit to "backup Folder Location". You can either browse to it, or the easier way is to click "Detect" and scan "Whole Device". It will find the location of your backups, then just click "use the current folder"

I have a 4gb sd card with partitions on it that I want to move over to my new 16gb card. how do I move all data over? I can see the fat partition when I mount it but what about the ext partition with all my apps? I have Alps installed via app2sd.

Ok, I don't quite understand the above.
go download titanium backup off the market = Download Titanium Backup from the Market app on your phone.
backup apps = using Titanium, select 'Backup/Restore' at top, then using the Menu softkey select "Batch" then push the RUN button for 'Backup all user apps + system data". I'm not sure if this is the correct batch job to run... Then push 'Select All' then "Run the batch operation". This will take a moment or two to finish.
"pull all your files on the new card after you paritition it" - this is where I get lost. I have no idea what this means. There's several steps missing here:
- how do you partition it? What file system is used? How many partitions?
- how do you pull (put?) all the files on the new card? It's nonsensical.
- at what point do you copy all the files off the old card onto your PC?
"restore all apps" - I assume you use a batch job in Titanium Backup to do this?

you partition your sd card in your custom recovery image you should have if your phone is rooted, set up your partition ext 2 3 or 4 however much you want then the rest fat32 after that put your old card in your computer copy all the files onto your computer then put your new card in then copy all the files over to the new card put your sd card back in the phone then start up batch restore all apps and settings all done not that hard really if you dont know how to partition your sd card i dont know how you rooted your phone

Heres how I did mine yesteday, went from stock 4gb to adata 16gb c6;
- Went into Ra recovery and did a nandroid + ext backup
- Toggled ms-usb, copied everything from my card to my computer
- Turned off my n1 then inserted my new card
- Went back into recovery, formated my new card with ext partition
- Enabled ms-usb again and copied everything to the new card
- Disabled ms-usb and then did the nandroid restore which also restores your ext partition

My Vibrants USB connector is screwy and im going to ask for a replacement. Once I get my replacement, how I do transfer my info?
Contacts and Calendar will automatically get transfered from Google.
With Titanium Backup - do I just copy that folder over from one internal SD to the other and then proceed to reinstall apps?
What about other app data, etc.. Should I just copy over folders from one to other? Would that work?

I'll just echo shrivel and say you should be fine doing that however you will probably need to download the actual apps as the all's don't save with Titanium. Basically when you go to the market and download an app the apk is saved and installed on your phone what titanium will do is save all the data once you make a change to your phone say installing a Rom it wipes the data and uninstalls all of your apps. But it does not delete the apk so when you use titanium to restore it looks for that apk to reinstall it with the same data and setting. If you completely wipe your phone or copy the backup file to a new phone titanium will be looking for the apk to reinstall but its not there.
I know that was kind of long and if I'm wrong someone please correct me.

your backup folder containing all the backups should be named TitaniumBackup and placed on the root of your internal sdcard. or you can specify the name of your backup folder in the preferences menu in titaniumbackup.
also, titianium backs up your app+data for you, so you don't need to re-download it from the market. if you want to backup other stuff like call log, text messages, home screen icons, phone contacts etc, use 'mybackup pro'

In astro if you press the home button it should take you to the root of the internal sd. Top should say that you are in directory /sdcard. Just move the TitaniumBackup folder to there and it should work.
EDIT: The home button in astro BTW, at the top under the notification bar, not the android home button on the bottom of the phone.
titanium backup folder is there and all the files are in it.
When I open up the app titanium back up, go to back up/ restore and then hit menu, batch, I don't see the files that are in that folder only whats on the phone as it came from tmobile (none of my apps and files)

If your going back to the same kernel/ROM you can do a nandroid backup of your system files as well.

No need. You just install titanium on the phone and do the backup. You can then move the entire directory to your external sd card. When you flash, you just install it again and then restore your backup.

norm2002 thanks, you know without changing the directory (before reading your post) i backed up everything and then flashed with JMI, flashed perfectly and then installed Titanium back and when i tried to restore i see no files to restore it was 0 written. I was assuming TB uploads all data to it's server but now No Voila for me. But now you taught me how to backup. Will press thanks for your help.

That was very helpfull. Had the same problem wenn i flashed the Roto-rom. Thought i was covered with Titanium. But the flash deleted mij internal-sd. Now all is on the external and i am very pleased..

oh men, no offence, but this forum is becoming a rubbish container...
times ago I remember this forum as one where there were only advanced users posting their finds and where the newbies could read and learn about...

If you want to be sure, you could always copy the titanium backup folder from the tab to your PC(USB), and copy it back after formatting/flashing a rom.
Nice tip norm2002! I can't count the times I have deleted my precious backups when I repartitioned!

The more places you can have backup files saved, the safer you are. With TB it's wise to have the backup files stored on:
- External SD card
- PC
- Dropbox
This way, regardless of what happens, you have your backup files safe and can set up your Tablet (or a new one if your old Tablet gets lost/stolen) easily.

When i realized that Rom Manager was not fully functional on our phones I was pissed. One of the reasons is that at first i couldn't get my phone to do a quick backup and restore with cwm or cwm Manager so it seemed to take twice as long when the progress bars were showing during backups and restores. Anyways you dont need to keep rom manager installed to do this but you have to do it at first in order to get the files to enable the quick back up and restore feature.
1. Install Rom manager and enable "quick backup and restore" - this will create a folder and within the folder a number of files one of which is called "hidden progress". Rom manager most likely installed it on your internal sd card and if you do backups to your internal sd card and not your external then you dont need to do this next step of you dont want to, although it wouldn't hurt to do it anyways.
For quick backup and restores to external_sd
2. Copy the clockworkmod folder and its contents (if you already have backups and you dont want them on you internal than just create a new folder on your external_sd and name it clockworkmod. After that copy the hidden progress file over to the clockworkmod folder and thats it. whether you use CWM Manager or just boot into recovery and do it that way, you should always have the quick backup and restore feature back)
*There are a few other files in the clockworkmod folder than rom manager creates. I went ahead and just copied the whole folder including everything inside the folder and thats how i was able to finally get it working, but I think it is most likely just that one file that doe the fix.
Backup and Restores now take me 2-3 minutes as opposed to 5 mins and longer

4.2 does something strange because of the new Multi-User Feature.
Place the TiBu folder where you want it.
Open the app and click on the settings button.
Click on Preferences.
Look for backup folder location.
Click on detect and wait.
If that doesnt find it the back arrow soft-key will take you up to the previous folder keep going up till you get to the root folder (by root folder i mean when it says "/") and then from there find your backups.
hope this helps
