List the best / stable ROM for your device type - Onetouch Idol 3 General

I thought it may be a good idea for folks to list what ROM / Kernel they are using and details on its stability. Since we have different versions of our phones and kernels / Rom combos I thought listing the details on what each of us use may help others.
Here is my best (or most stable) setup so far:
ROM: CM 12.1 Build 20160104
Phone: 6045I
TWRP VERSION: TWRP-2.8.7.1-test2
KERNEL: ARDE OC (But not OC'd right now)
GAPPS: Open Gapps arm64 - Nano
REBOOTS PER DAY: 0
MODS INSTALLED: XPOSED / FM RADIO / CM CAMERA MOD
SCHEDULER: Noop
GOVERNOR: Interactive
OTHER KERNEL TWEAKS: None
ATuTu SCORE: Usually about 29,000
BATTERY LIFE: Excellent
Notes: This is my fallback daily driver build. This is what I have as my go-to TWRP backup. The battery life is even better than stock. For Xposed I use Greenify / BootManager / Burnt Toast / Xposed GEL Settings
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
ROM: PAC ROM 01.02.2016
Phone: 6045I
TWRP VERSION: TWRP-2.8.7.1-test2
KERNEL: ARDE
GAPPS: Open Gapps arm64 - Nano
REBOOTS PER DAY: 0
MODS INSTALLED: None
SCHEDULER: ROW
GOVERNOR: Interactive
OTHER KERNEL TWEAKS: None
ATuTu SCORE: Usually about 31,000
BATTERY LIFE: Great
Notes: Only 1 day of use so far but battery life is very good. No reboots so far. Used the non OC ARDE kernel with no mods.
-With both the CM and PAC ROM I tend to flash the ROM then the ARDE kernel before the first boot.

[DISCUSSION-TEST][25 JULY]CPU Governors and I/O Schedulers in DooMLoRD's Kernels

Since the moment that most of x10 users are using custom kernels and our devs are working hard to add new features and add-ons, i think that this thread can be a good place for most of us,like me, that would like to know much more about technical specs and options and for all devs, like a place for reporting experiences and give suggestions.
Before starting..
ALL CREDITS AND MANY THANKS TO:
- zdzihu for providing us custom kernels and for all his hard work in x10 development
- DooMLoRD for modding and adding new features and helping us with kindly support
Link to Z’s kernels: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1135475
Link to DooMLoRD’s kernels: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1172200
In the last few days, DooMLoRD has worked over his kernel ( v03) in order to add new I/O scheduler types and new CPU governors and he has let us the possibility to choose all settings we want and prefer (according with his kernel’s name “Power to the people”). So now, the objectives of this thread are:
-Post and link information about scheduler and cpu governor types
-Post tests, opinions, comparisons and suggestions about differences between them and over different ROMs
So standard posting form should be as below:
Kernel type ….(including max OC frequency used)
ROM and baseband version …
…all that you want regarding cpu governors and schedulers… ( benchmark tests are very appreciated )
Here, there are some starting and basic information:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I/O_scheduling
http://www.mjmwired.net/kernel/Documentation/cpu-freq/governors.txt
I hope this thread can be useful for all and may become a way of improving our experiences with the x10!!
Best regards
Kekko
my phone wroks fine @ 1152 with doom's kernel v3 x series (UNDERVOLTED)
@1152 interactive governer is the fastest and doesn't drain the battery. smartass though i think it's less battery consuming but is laggy.performance governer: wlod after a pretty time
@1190 smartass:so laggy and can't use it. interactive &performance :reboot
what's strange for me here is that with WB cust. kernerl 4.0.3 phone reboots always @1113 and didn't be stable till i reduced the MAX frequency to 1036
now with doom's kernel it's stable @1152 is that because of undervoltage?!! and if so..can i reach @1228 with more UV ?!!
for me i didn't use the s series (same kernel with stock voltage) so can't decide
I got error: "failure at line 1: copy_dir package: system system: installation aborted" when flash Doomkernel v4b for lockbootloader. Can u help me to fix it?
Yeah sometimes you get errors but still the kernel gets installed
Go to Settings-> about phone and check the kernel version
How about others added in v6 of doom's kernel
such as: smartassV2,interactiveX and etc..

You can download older kernel versions to test them out but as I said numerous of times, its not stable and it gives problems to 99% percent of users (other 1% percent reported to work OK but they never complained to add S2W again)
@XperianPro
Hello, for my nexus 10's kernel I have added a sh script that at boots mount the partition according to which formatter has been used to format them.
Here is my script and my fstab. That way, you can make an universal kernel.
You just need to add this line into your init.target.rc
C:
exec /sbin/busybox sh /check_fs.sh
before
C:
mount_all /fstab.aries

I assume that this script is only for f2fs\ext partition dual version problem.. but not for universal kernel (flash your kernel in miui/ moonlight roms for example)

Frequently asked questions
Q: Will this conflict with any mod I'm using?
A: As long as it doesn't have any entropy related stuff, its okay. Since the kernel already comes with an inbuilt entropy generator, it will conflict with the ones from mod, causing a poor, stuttered performance!
Q: Deep Sleep isnt working for me, Google Services causing wake-locks, what to do?
A: Go to settings, Privacy, Privacy Guard, All apps, long press Google Services, and deny/disable wake-locks! (Thanks to @Paget96 for the solution)
Q: Which version should I flash?
A: Flash kernel with toolchain that you prefer.
Q: What is the difference between the UBERTC, Linaro, SaberMod and Google toolchain? Which one is the best?
A: It's a good read on the toolchain UBERTC you are wanting to know more about it, this for Linaro, this for SaberMod and this for Google.
Q: What is the difference between the HMP and Miui kernel?
A: Miui folder is for miui roms -> xiaomi.eu, MiuiBR and other derivatives from miui official. HMP folder is for aosp rom and derivatives -> Aosp, Lineage and other derivatives from aosp
Q: Is your kernel secure?
A: You MAY face some issues, but it's safe! My cell phone has not exploded yet.
Q: WiFi doesnt work for me.
A: Reflash ROM and Kernel.
Q: What application can I use to configure the kernel?
A: Use Spectrum, and if you have enough knowledge of what to modify or do in the application use together Kernel Adiutor.
Q: Can I use the kernel source in my ROM?
A: If you want to use my kernel in your ROM, just put my name in the credit, just like I did.
Q: Does your kernel support writing to the NTFS file system?
A: Yeeh, you can use flash drives and HD with NTFS via OTG.
Q: My cpu clock is locked with any governor.
A: Just disable the thermal control in the kernel temperature settings.
Q: I have problems with your kernel.
A: Take a logcat and kmesg, this website and this video should help you
Q: Why does my magisk and root disappear after installing your kernel?
A: The kernel script makes changes that directly interfere with both, reinstall the magisk that it will function normally, follow this installation line always: FloppyKernel -> Magisk -> Reboot system.
Q: Does your kernel support Miui ROM?
A: Yes, support was added in "RC1.2".
Q: Why did your kernel go straight to "RC1.2"?
A: Because it is based on the FloppyKernel for MI5, which is already in RC1.2.
Q: What is the "Battery" profile in the spectrum?
A: Based on Project Zhana & X.A.N.A was made for trying to be as efficient as possible without compromising the performance. Thanks to the discovery on Voltages used by our SD820 I could make a profile that utilizes more the BIG cluster. My first attempt was to move ALL the load to the BIG cluster, it was against anything that I have learned about little. BIG CPU but I tried, it turned really good at first, low usage was just amazing... But on more usage things didn't go that good. So what I did it was to give a twist to things, but not such twist. It kind of works like Nameless and Shotgun, Mostafa Wael and I worked the same idea. #LITTLE cluster will be running on low-mid frequencies but delivers full performance when is needed. # BIG Cluster will help LITTLE ease Load, but in a great way than before. Things can be done faster and more efficient giving us profit in form of battery. It should run smooth on all scenarios, but you guys tell me. You can easily get around 7~9 hours SOT for 24 hours even more If you don't play game. This will, of course, may vary, but it will definitely be better.
Q: What is the "Balanced" profile in the spectrum?
A: Based on GhostPepper was made to uses a quantized, frequency-aligned parametric curve to influence low core clock rates while providing extremely smooth transitions from each clock rate and exceptional battery life. Really well-defined clock speed escalation for a good battery and performance.
Q: What is the "Performance" profile in the spectrum?
A: Based on FusionP this profile brings a more "agressive" way to scale frequencies. It will scale frequencies sooner(regarding load values from cpu) and will use more the big cluster to provide more performance doing the tasks on hands. Battery should not take a big hit but using heavy demanding tasks you can expect a higher drain.
Q: What is the "Gaming" profile in the spectrum?
A: Based on Burnout PR5, this profile's main goal is to provide absolute maximum performance when needed, but lies low quite well. You see, some times I see the CPU hitting some of the high freqs of 1190 while making something as simple as watching YouTube or playing some spotify tracks needlessly, and sometimes I feel it is a bit slower than it should be in things like brute multitasking. Most profiles do aim at bringing a mid-ground to rest on. But with the sensible words of one of my favourite idols Jeremy Clarkson, he says 'Power solves everything' and right he is. By eliminating the mid freqs of the Little cluster and efficiently using some specific frequency steps, you get some power savings by staying on lower freqs as much as possible, and even on brutal tasks you get the job done faster as well, since the CPU will give you all the power to finish the job as fast as it can, and hit back to idle faster.
Q: I want more information about your spectrum profiles.
A: Read this thread.
Q: I want more information about governors, I/O Scheduler, Hotplug, TCP Algorithms and other things.
A: Read this thread.

The Infinity Kernel is a custom kernel for Redmi 4A (rolex) and Redmi 5A (riva).
For Redmi 4A and Redmi 5A, from Team Infinity!
Based on Fabian's device tree, only to be used on ROMs compiled with Fabian's device tree + Treble.
Code:
#include "std_disclaimer.h"
/*
* Your warranty is void.
*
* Team Infinity is not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this kernel
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger us me for messing up your device, we will laugh at you.
*/
Steps to flash:
1. Clear Kernel Auditor's data.
2. Wipe "Dalvik Cache" and "Cache".
3. Flash kernel.
4. Reboot.
Configuring the kernel:
Please use "alucard" governor instead of "interactive".
Other than that, we can't give any other advice. We already have our recommendations set as default.
Bugs:
OREO VERSION:
"ondemand" CPU governor is pretty broken but it shouldn't be used anyway. "interactive" is the way to go.
We couldn't find any other, tell us if you do!
Changelog:
Code:
Oreo Stable v2: Up the charging current to 2A.
Oreo Stable v2: Supports both Murali and Fabian tree now.
Oreo Stable v2: Initial release for Redmi 5A.
IMPORTANT: Fabian? Murali? Who are those?
There was a time where we had to build two versions for two different device trees.
Do not worry, though. Those days are over.

My God... At last.. Never thought this would happen.. Thank you so much, bro. You rule!
Oh btw, why no underclocking? Stability issues?
P.S: Wondering what ROM I'm using? I'm on Official AOSPExtended Treble GSI. Flashed Magisk (custom Magisk for Treble devices) and Systemless Xposed with no issues.
Will report back if I find issues or bugs while on InfinityKernel.

Fresh flash, no kernel setups, default settings; interactive governor + alucard hotplug + cfq as I/O sched with 128kb readahead + max/min cpu at 1651/960 MHz, gpu max/min at stock values + 400Mhz initial gpu speed.
Better battery life for sure, you won't even feel the difference in battery life. Performancewise, if you change the governor to alucard, plus tweak more settings (change I/O sched to zen) you'll get more juice and response, than stock ootb settings which suffers from staggering and slow response.
Batterywise and temperature wise, I feel it's better than stock.
Apps usage? I cant give you any review about battery life more specificly, because I deep sleeped the phone since last night and havent used it for daily use yet.
But honestly I woke up seeing the battery only drop around 2-3 percent, under the influence of mobile data still on.
Playing games with mobile data was a surprise, usually the phone went straight to hot but now it's cooler.
SoT? No Idea. I'll info u later.
and can we use on Nougat Redmi 5A ?

Here's the deal. Why not backup your boot partitions and just try it yourselves? If the 5.5 nougat version doesnt boot (because it says its for 4A) you can always just restore the old kernel.
Kernel v5.5 for Rolex working great on Riva running cr droid 3.8 nogut
Only 2 bugs , battery always shows 100%and charging
2- notification led dosent work
Other than that every thing works great .
Could you build us a special version ? + Could we get the GPU overclocked to 800mhz ?
Thanks
Underclocking, KCAL + Sound Control. @caghandemir, you rock! :victory::highfive:
Reverted back to v2. v3.1 had issues on performance. Super slow response, staggering here and there, choppy multitasking when switching from one app to another, plus slow gaming performance (which didn't happen on v2). Even unlocking the device from screen off (the moment where the pattern dots shows) suffers stagger.
My settings where:
Governor: alucard (tried interactive with manual settings, worse)
Hotplug: alucard (tried turning it off, worse)
Max CPU freq: 1651 Mhz
Min CPU freq: 200 Mhz (tried returning it to stock min, no changes)
I/O sched: cfq (tried zen, it was worse)
Readahead: 128 kb
zRam: turned off
Entropy read/write: 64/128

Not only me, I'm just a contributor! The ones that did most of the work were Fabian, SouradeepB and #Kamil. Especially Fabian, his 4A/5A unified tree is awesome! Thanks, by the way! It makes us happy to see users using our kernel!

That is very weird, since the only commits we did to the kernel since v2 were the ones Fabian did. If you encounter any issue, our first recommendation would be to wipe dalvik cache and try a reboot.
By the way ezrawk, thank you for replying to comments when we couldn't! You rock!

Yeah, without their (Fabian, Murali, Soura & Kamil) trees, these awesome mods won't exist. Still, you rock for bringing to life a custom kernel for riva. I honestly nearly lost hope upon custom kernels when I compared the progress and development of 4A with 5A (which was heaven and earth). That lost hope got ignited again when I saw the threads of Fabian (Unified Treble Support & Unified LOS 15.1 for 4A-5A) posted in 5A's forum & I started to open 4A threads again (In the past I use to help friends of mine that have 4A and wanted to customize their phones, I was a silent reader in 4A forums, this was before I had a 5A). I'm the one that's totally happy about Infinity Kernel. :victory: :highfive:

I've always stressed upon wiping dalvik cache everytime I flash something crucial (custom kernels, rom updates, etc.), which now wiping dalvik cache has become a habit of mine. To simplify things, yes, I did wipe dalvik cache + cache after flashing v3.1 & before booting up. I've even flashed it two times between two boot ups to see if I did something wrong (2x wipe dalvik cache + cache). It didn't change a thing, the performance issues were still present. Do you need me to make a log or dmesg for it?
About helping the replies, the pleasure is mine, I mean it's a users duty too to reply and help other users.
*UPDATE
I'm now using stable v3 which I downloaded from your AFH account, and WOW it's smooth AF. I've been wondering, what's the difference between v3 (yours) & v3.1 (Soura's)? Is it just the absence of KCAL and Sound Control?

crDroid is based on ChalapathiRevanth's tree, not Fabian's. That's why you're facing lags and a LED issue. For now, Redmi 5A users can only use Infinity Kernel on Fabian's tree (Treble included). We may release a version for ChalapathiRevanth's tree in the future, but not now.

Try stable v3 bro! It's super smooth!

Soura, Kamil, me and kacskrz make up the Infinity Team. There are no differences between Soura's builds and my builds. Sometimes he builds, sometimes I do that's all.
