Dual Recovery for Honor 7 - Honor 7 General

It's very simply!
We have 2 recovery partition. First - Recovery, Second - eRecovery. eRecovery isn't useful.
I tested flashing TWRP in second partition. Its work!
Fastboot flash recovery2 yourTWRP. Img
For enter to eRecovery power off the Honor, hold vol up and connect to pc
Or type adb reboot erecovery
Cons and pros
+ you have both recovery and can flash OTA updates.
- entering via root and terminal command: reboot erecovery
You have stock recovery and TWRP forever! [emoji6] Before you do full software update
Usefull app from @m_esser - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67463880&postcount=6

good news! good idea!
But without pc connection not usable. No way to recover a backup if you are not near a pc!
What is the trigger to identify a pc connection? 5Volt signal? Bridget contacts?
maybe it will be possible to create a little usb-adapter?

yes, this seems to be right!
btw: there is a w-lan network inside too, but i was not able to connect to the huawei server or to dl a rescue file, so i think you are right and we can ignore them.
Info: If necessary, you can find the stock erecovery.img as recovery2.img in the v121 full rom. It seems to be unchanged since v121.

Hi,
I am using a dual recovery configuration since several weeks. My personal preference is to install the stock recovery on /recovery and to install TWRP on /recovery2.
In order to get rid of the con mentioned above I have used Tasker and Tasker App Factory to make a small program for that purpose.
This APK is definitively not a masterpiece of software engineering (more a q&d solution) but it does what it should (at least for me) ... it shows a (re-)boot menu with some options the reboot the device into several modes including into eRecovery.
A Screenshot and the APK file itself are attached below.
Requirements:
To use this APK
the phone must be rooted (and therefore the bootloader must be unlocked)
root access must be granted to the app
Other Honor / Huawei devices:
Originally this app was intented to be used only on the Honor 7 phone. In the meantime several users on android-hilfe.de have tested it successfully on other Huawei devices as well. As far as I know by now the app is also working fine for the following devices:
Huawei P8 (GRA-LO9)
Huawei P9 (EVA-L09)
Additional comments:
There is no warranty for this app => you will use it on your own risk!
Due to very restricted spare time I will not provide any kind of support and I don't make any promise to continue development
The app does not check which recovery console is installed on both partitions - that's something you have to keep in mind by your own
The APK was developed on a Honor 7 with west-european firmware PLK-L01C432B330 by using Tasker and Tasker App Factory (decompiling will probably not work)

Thanks to
@Sminki for the implementation of TWRP 2.8.7 for the Honor 7
@paulobrien for the implementation of TWRP 3.0.2 for the Honor 7 (the only aspect I am still missing is the option to reboot into /recovery2 from TWRP )

Hi,
in addition to the above mentioned con I see another weakness regarding dual recovery configurations.
Whenever the current configuration does not meet your needs you have to re-flash the recovery partitions manually by using adb and fastboot on a PC ... and that's quiet difficult if you are not at home or on travel without a PC.
Because of that I have created a flashable zip file for this purpose. When loading the zip file using TWRP you will be able to choose
recovery configuration
- /recovery: stock recovery + /recovery2: TWRP
- /recovery: TWRP + /recovery2: stock erecovery
- /recovery: stock recovery + /recovery2: stock erecovery
- to install the app "Reboot for Huawei & Honor devices" optionally
The only weakness of this approach is the fact that you need TWRP on one of both recovery partitions because the zip file cannot be flashed with the stock recovery .
For those of you who might be interested the zip file can be downloaded <here>.
Requirements:
To use this flashable zip file
the phone must be rooted for using the integrated apk file (and therefore the bootloader must be unlocked)
TWRP must be installed on one of both recovery partitions
TWRP's screensaver should be disabled to avoid issues with Aroma Installer
the flashable zip file can only be executed on Honos 7 devices with firmware versions PLK-L01C432B313 to PLK-L01C432B330 (no other device and currently no other firmware)
Additional comments:
There is no warranty for this zip file => you will use it on your own risk!
Due to very restricted spare time I will not provide any kind of support and I don't make any promise to continue development
The zip file was developed on a Honor 7 with west-european firmware B330 by using amarullz's Aroma Installer
Credits:
Thanks to

@paulobrien for the implementation of TWRP 3.0.2 for the Honor 7 (the only aspect I am still missing is the option to reboot into /recovery2 from TWRP )

hi , I want to debrand my huawei honor 7 to china firmware because it have more feature than Europe firmware but is it worth it ?
is it stable ?

The flashable zip will not work with TL01H ... and the integrated recovery images might be flashable directly but I don't know whether the recovery images will fit to your firmware.
Only for the rebooting apk it is very likely that it will work.

If you don't mind, can you define the perfect? For example; compare with B371.
And what are the differences between TL01H and UL00 rom?
One of them is Dual 4G version, the other is 4G Mobile Edition... I couldn't understand.
Edit: Actually I need 4G+ or 4.5G, whatever you calling.. so CA support is important.

Good, but there is easy way download that rom, and install it for TWRP(select full wipe, include internal storage) - emmaus.pro/MX4_custom_roms/Flyme/4.5.7i_twrp.zip
and there all stock Flyme roms for twrp - emmaus.pro/?dir=MX4_custom_roms/Flyme
Author all rom "nikk3d" russian 4pda users - 4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showuser=2196261
And this method works even on newest firmware, let's say 4.5.6i downgraded to 4.2.8i via 4.0.4i? Or is a easy variant of previous method, patched uboot by meizu remains after 4.5.6i upgrade if i understand, no matter if you downgrate to Kitkat?

Does anybody have any clue?
Thanks,

It is easy, do you need download de rom (190) in the emui website
Afer that extrat the update.app and flash in fastboot "system", "boot" and "recovery"
You have tutorial in this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-7/general/guide-beginners-how-to-root-update-fix-t3255452
In other order of things, do someone know a twrp how works with his rom? (190) I tryed with 3 diferents and not works. With 188 i dont have any problems with twrp
bro i already have B188 update and i done the all things like extract files from update.app and then manually flash via fastboot,,,but those dosent work..and i m not able to boot in recovery i can only boot in to fastboot..
i already follow all instructions.
and i m not using europian version
im using PLK AL10 64gb model

I know that you have chinesse model, not eu, me too, but i put this tuturial because the steps are the same (not roms).
Maybe you could try with other adb tool (minimal adb fastboot works fine) and you can download the rom again. I had the same problem that you and i solve with this way (flashing system boot and recovery Of 190)
I hope that you can solve it soon

I have rooted B188 [PKL AL10]. I unrooted it, than updata to B190 than to 5.12.16 - all using local updata. I did not loose any data.
After that I received OTA to MM 6.0 (ROM 6.1.1) - instaled via OTA.
All my personal data are ok.
But now I do not know if it is possible to root MM 6.0 Rom 6.1.1?

[GUIDE] Unlock Bootloader, Root, Install TWRP & Decrypt

For an easy way to Unlock, Root & Decrypt your Mate 8 here are the steps you need to take. This has been requested by a number of you so here it goes:
1) Unlock your bootloader. There are three steps you can take. The first is free. The second method requires you to pay a few dollars but it works and is the fastest way. I would highly recommended this method. This is confirmed working on all models.
Option 1: Make a Huawei ID on your phone and stay signed in for 14 days and go then online to unlock your bootloader and it should work on the website.
https://uniportal.huawei.com/accounts/register.do?method=toRegister
Option 2: If you want to unlock your phone immediately and don't mind paying a few dollars this method works. Visit here:
https://www.dc-unlocker.com/buy
- Download the DC Unlocker Software
- On their site buy 4 credits. I used PayPal. It cost me around $4.38 USD.
- Follow the instructions in their tutorial. Choose "Read Bootloader Code" in DC-Unlocker to get your bootloader code. It was pretty easy.
- Put your phone in bootloader mode (plug into the computer and hold in power and volume down with the phone off) and download the Android tools from the link at the end of step two. Extract them to a folder on your desktop and open a command prompt to that folder and type in fastboot oem unlock xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx where x is your bootloader unlock code the DC Unlocker program gave you.
2) Download the TWRP recovery of the EMUI version you are currently on (5.0 ,5.1, 6.0) from here:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B5I_q70mNuR4Vmo5LUUyU2t5TWs?usp=sharing
Then put your phone into Bootloader Mode (plug phone into computer and hold in power + vol down) and fastboot flash the TWRP recovery file you downloaded. Here are the Android tools you need to fastboot flash. Extract them to a folder and put the twrp recovery img file inside the folder as well and open up a command prompt to the folder and type in fastboot flash recovery TWRP-ENG-XXX.img (where XXX is the version of TWRP you downloaded) Then type in fastboot reboot. When your phone reboots shut it back down and then hold in volume up and power until it turns on and keep holding in volume up until the phone boots into TWRP recovery.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5I_q70mNuR4UzdkeERRZExnUVk/view?usp=sharing
3) Root your phone.
In TWRP flash SuperSU:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5I_q70mNuR4OWlXeTJuTjdoS0k/view?usp=sharing
After flashing you will be rooted and on TWRP successfully.
4) Decrypt your internal storage.
You must decrypt your internal storage so TWRP can see it or if you want to be able to flash a rom. If you're getting an unable to format data in TWRP then you know you need to do this. Boot into TWRP then go to Wipe then Advanced Wipe then Format Data and type in yes. This will wipe and decrypt your internal storage. BACK UP YOUR INTERNAL STORAGE before you do this if you have anything important on it. (Pics are at the bottom of this post) Then either flash one of my roms or decrypted boot.img to keep the internal storage decrypted. If you boot with the stock boot.img installed it will encrypt your internal storage again and you'll have to repeat the process.
*To take an ota or do the dload method you don't have to relock"

Does this now mean we are likely to see numerous custom roms & kernels being developed in the very near future for this awesome smartphone ?
i sure hope so especially since huawei seems to have publicized its kernel source for the mate 8 just recently in the end it depends on the interest of the devs, though, and the overall popularity of the mate 8! im staying optimistic that itll be better than with the mate 7

Don't worry, it works with the Mate 8. You're doing something wrong if it didn't work.
Say we do unlock BL and then root... Than I guess we cannot get OTA updates right? Also does the BL re-lock?

You should still get ota updates if you're unlocked and rooted. Yes you can relock just make sure you fastboot flash or do the dload method to get back to stock before you relock.
it's the code in first line, cofusing

Are you on MM? Did you download the rollback package or just the stock firmware for your device?
You need a rollback package to go back to LP from MM.
If you are on Marshmallow you have to flash the rollback first. Otherwise follow below steps.
Try to update it manually, assuming you were rooted, follow these steps:
Download your phone's lollipop firmware and extract system.img, boot.img, recovery.img, cust.img from UPDATE.APP using Huawei Update Extractor tool.
Boot into bootloader mode by switching off the phone then pressing only the Vol DOWN button, and connecting it to PC simultaneously.
Flash recovery first, using this command.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Flash all other extracted files similarly firing these commands.
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash cust cust.img
fastboot flash system system.img
After doing this put that very UPDATE.APP from which you extracted the files in dload folder of your external SDCARD.
Switch off your phone, and press Vol UP + Vol DOWN + Power button simultaneously.
Your device will now get to the full stock firmware.
NOTE: If the manual flashing doesn't works or you get any errors, then first try only the force update method, i.e Putting the UPDATE.APP from which you extracted the files in dload folder of your external SDCARD and pressing Vol UP + Vol DOWN + Power button simultaneously after switching off your phone.

I suggest you to backup all your stuff with Huawei native backup app. Copy it to a safe place or let it be at the SD card.
If you have root, unroot H7 in SuperSU (full unroot).
If you have TWRP recovery flash (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img) recovery file from (extracted) current version ROM.
Copy transitional package to dload folder in H7, and force update (from off state, press vol+- and power untill it shows a screen)
Then you can flash B180 full ROM and update to B190.
Restore your backup and your done.

The linked transitional package is for PLK-L01 (European version), while ashishpupri has PLK-AL10 (Chinese) and he needs another rollback file, like I do. But I haven't found any rollback package that works with B380 (or B395) builds.

Is it possible to simply "overwrite" the current system with fastboot flash? You know we don't have rollback package for PLK-AL10 but want to go back to lollipop.

I don't think it'll work, as rollback has some other packages too which needs to be flashed unlike the common ones.

It will work, I´ve done it for PLK-01. The problem is the partitions will be messed up and you get first a nice bootloop. Then it´s a matter of trial-and-error to fash img files from full LP releases to see which work. Once I spent a whole Saturday and Sunday doing flashings and praying for the best. I got lucky.
I honestly don't recommend, AT ALL, this way. It´s a nice attempt to get your device bricked.

The first bootloop only states that it doesn't work in a pattern, so no one should try or do it.

I am sorry buddy. Checked multi-tool options to write the post for you but I got this (you can see it under model names in the pic below)
"Change model possible only on version of Android 5.0"
And moreover I don't see honor 7 plus supported here in the tool as you can see in the image.
If you want to check it out for yourself, head to the thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-7/general/honor-7-multi-tool-t3281176/page1
and download multi-tool but it will unlock your bootloader, root your phone and in the end, you will not get what you want. (IMHO)
The only possible way I can think of is to contact Huawei customer service with your problem via email but most likely they will ask you to take your phone to a customer service center.

Try the Huawei firmware finder. You may find the complete and transitional packages if available.

Thank you. I found the version B396 and its change log says it can be rollbacked to emui 3.1. However it did not find (search for) rollback packages, hopefully it will work with the existing ones.
I unrooted my phone yesterday, installed B396 rom but none of the rollback packages work. Still "software install failed". Any more idea what could be done?
Who makes the rollback packages? They are only 18-19 kB.
What is the realistic size of a rollback file? What I found for PLK-AL10 are only 17-18kB (!), while on official honor site the rollback file made for the European (L01) version is 200-300 MB.

It should be anywhere from 100 to 300 MB. That is the size I usually observed.
But 18-19 KB is not possible coz it has to has multiple partitions inside it.

Hi friend,
The problem is still how to go back from Android 6 to 5 on PLK-AL10.
Another guy suggested me a simple solution: format (wipe) my phone and then any operating system can be flashed. Here is the way he did:

Do you think it can work?
Thanks in advance.

Nubia Z17 LITE (NX591J) ROM

Hello good afternoon.
I am a big enthusiast of the Nubia product line. I bought the model Z17 (NX563J) with Snapdragon 835.
The company has just launched the Z17 Lite (NX591J) which has a GLOBAL ROM.
I wonder if a Z17 LITE ROM is compatible with the Z17.
Could someone with experience take the test?
??????
Hello. JD tricked me and sent Z17 Lite with Chinese ROM. Can you upload your global rom on google drive?
http://ui.nubia.cn/rom/detail/46 here is the latest ROM for Nubia Z17 Lite, but i can't download it. Could someone help me and upload it somewhere else?
Hello. I have the Nubia Z17 Lite here. It was bought from geekbuying and has a Firmware called "NX591J_ENCommon_V1.03. I guess that this is a custom shop rom and not the original ROM from Nubia.
Why?
- Nubia ROM listed on the Website is already at V1.20 while mine is on V1.03 and doesn't show an update
- There are GAPPS and multilanguage included and I don't think that this is the case in the chinese original ROM
Also I wonder why you think that there is an official Global ROM for this smartphone. Can you tell me your reasons to beleave that? I think the device is only for chinese market.

I think the ROM shipped on this phone is the global version, as this is the only variant of the Z17 series (to my knowledge) to support Google Play functionality out of the box, and therefore is more intended for the global market...using online stores/apps as primary distribution channels. The regular Z17 was never intended to be sold outside China, hence why getting Gplay to work in it out of the box is a pain. OP just wants to know if this ROM is anywhere online to download.

Sure. Based on jafaroff123's description from 4pda.ru:
1. take the TWRP archive from here . Unrar it.
2. Make sure in settings your phone is with unlocked bootlader, usb debugging on and you have the ADB drivers installed (I have no file for this, if you played with other phones on youir PC, these are probably installed.)
3. Open CMD prompt in the folder where you unrared the TWRP.
4. Connect the phone with USB
5. In the CMD type in order:
adb devices
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
fastboot oem nubia_unlock NUBIA_NX591J
(Return after each line and wait for the command to take effect. On step 2 here your phone should restart in fastboot mode)
5. Now start the unrared TWRP file from Windows. Do not worry, it is in Chinese. Type 3 and Return, wait for the installation.
6. Do not restart the phone. First restart in recovery mode. TWRP will load. It is in chinese. There are 2 buttons at the bottom. The right is to select language. Select English and then you will be able to navigate to find the root command in the TWRP menu.
7. After the root, there will not be SuperSU installed, but it will be rooted. Instal it from Playstore.
If anything does not work, repeat it. I managed to root on the second try.
Good luck!

Thank u very much.I manage to get twrp and root my phone. The thing is everytime i boot in twrp i must choose the language every time. And the most important is that i can't flash anything because the internal storage doesn't recognised by the twrp.Any solutions?
Also i want to ask.Can we flash magisk? Is working?
Hi. Glad you have it!
1. The language issue is like this. I use it like this. Made in China
2. If "flash" means any others apps via the Recovery, I have not tried. If you can't do it from TWRP, try the phone`s inbuilt updater as manual update. But this TWRP version is not old, maybe try some permissions issue. I am not a TWRP master myself.
3. First time hear about Magisk. Do not know if it works.
it would not be a video tutorial
I guess I'm mistaken and you can not fail me.I would be very grateful
It's my first nubia, before I had xiaomi there it was easier.
I'm lost:angel::angel::angel:

Maybe try to load the ROM from SD card through OTG in TWRP?
Or try Fastboot flash through CMD?
