Inappropriate questions
Trolling
Being a rat (steal stuff and pretend it's yours)
Things you should post here:
Everything helpfull for the development
Logs

When I tried to build it with the guide given, I ran into an issue saying "fatal error: pm-service.h: No such file or directory". Someone else had this issue too, and it was suggested to use this patch: https://android-review.googlesource.com/#/c/180351/. Once I did that, the build succeeded. I have not yet tested it out.

Ok recovery has successfully compiled! I'll test it tomorrow, since I got access to the device then.
Qeustion : Does anyone know if the kernel uses dt v1 v2 or v3?

Hi All
As a part from the team (though not a developer), moderators kindly and please do not remove this post !
As Qube2 said the rom is in its alpha stage or pre-alpha and this is not a team failure rather it's the beginning of what I hope an epic rom.
What exactly we need from you ( As Developers/Kernel Experts/Positive Contributors)
are the following:-
1- Joining the team if you have an expertise in cooking or developing.
2- Patches/fixes.
3- Thought's or Ideas.
4- Look at the logcat posted by the OP and try to figure out what we can do
5- Please keep this thread as professional as you can !!!
Currently exynos is not doing good with the libs and this might be due to what's mentioned by Qube2 (the outdated libs). So if you have anything that may solve this you are most appreciated .
SD card is not mounted by the system on Nexus S port, so again if you can help with this you will save our team a lot of time.
Please remain positive
Thanx and Peace.
Hey odd thing in case you didn't know Google chrome is reporting that http://sense4all.nazuka.net/ contains malware.
Ain't having a go just thought id let you know.
will it be running on aosp based kernel or samsung based kernels?
okay guyz these are some great stuff wish u luck really
---------- Post added at 02:51 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:45 AM ----------
okay man and for the exynos thing u better contact and cm9 relataed dev cuz they had many issues with it there too and look if u wanna any help i can do i will i amnot dev but i can do basic stuff and ofcc be a test rat
will you inform us with the progress from here or from a twitter account or your site or we will be surprised when one day while reading the news on xda-developers.com we see a title like sense 4 port working for galaxy s2?
Great guys and keep positive. If someone like in the Nexus S forums is posting negative comments all the time just ignore them.
And to the persons who dont know: The site doesn't conatin malware but the hosting has some sites who are hackers and spammers and that's why the warning comes up. Just ignore it it is 100% safe.
Ps to the OP: try contacting Chainfire. He is an expert with the Galaxy S, S2 and S3. He was the first to root all the devices I think or one of the first and is the responsable for the CM9 Galaxy S2 ports. He is Dutch too !
EDIT: also look on the dutch community/forum Tweakers.net they have great devs over there !
i have found something we need to compile the libs from source but that will be impossible because htc sense is closed source anybody knows how to edit libs ? if so please contact me and no cm9 devs are not the answer they are compiling van aosp source what is open source

he is in it but i haven't got my lastest zip i will send him a older one for now
I can only wish you luck. I'd love to have sense on my i9100. I can't understand why people would complain... They don't have to use it, right?
A good tip: look for devs in the hd2 section... they had to do the same thing. Thereare verry talented devs over there...
Or alternately look around in the zte blade ics threads... as a user of the blade I know they had to edit most of the libs for ics to work...
And be sure to contact shenye he is a great dev... once he started a sense 3.0 port for the glxy s2 and had an alpha released for some beta testers and just right after that he closed his own thread
I don't know if it was because of the rom but I think he had succes in booting it but there was really a big discussion in the thread between a handfull of persons and that is the main reason for shutting it down i think...
There used to be another guy around named tids2k. Even he was working on a Sense port. We guys can't really help you, so we'll try to provide you with the best help that we can.
you didnt answer me :/ will you be using a new kernel or cm9/samsung kernel?
By any chance long a ago there was a dev known as SNQ at the HTC section, there isn't any sign of him right?,he was amazing. used to cook up kernels and overclocking them without even having kernel source.

[ROM][4.3.1][UNOFFICIAL] Carbon

About Carbon
CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub.
We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.
Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.
Features
Simply stated, we can't really list features here. There are too many and they change too frequently, and we now support a truly insane number of devices. Chances are, if you like a feature, we have it already. Seriously.

Support
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our goo.im page linked above. It's new, but expanding fast. Just like us!
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Join our G+ Community: http://community.carbon-rom.com This is where we spend the bulk of our time and the best way to reach us and other community members. We update and frequent this community far more than XDA, simply due to time constraints and the convenience of G+.
5) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

Great news indeed. About a week ago I've requested XDA's OEM relations manager Jerdog to contact Yota, and today he sent me a message that they finally obliged. His action together with some social media attention and requests through other channels probably all added up.
I've put it on github: https://github.com/SteadyQuad/android_kernel_yotaphone2
There's still a lot of work to do however, it's not plug-and-play. As far as I can see there's no kernel config included, so that might take time to figure out. I'm not an experienced kernel dev, but I'll give it some attention to see how far I get with it. Anyone else interested to help out here?
Wish that I could help, but this is not something were I'm able to add value... :/
Best of luck to you and any other that may go down that road.
what about the progress
now?

Config is in arch/arm/configs and seems to already be set up with the EPD display, so likely the same that Yota is using:

Do you still have the original tarball?

Can't find the original tarball. Sources on Github are pretty close though (I think I only missed some firmware files on very first commit). You probably found it already, but Yota seemed to have adapted the standard arch/arm/configs/msm8974_defconfig file for yp2, which contains amongst other things the Epson EPD driver:
Code:
CONFIG_FB_EPSON_S1D13522=y
CONFIG_EPSON_13522=y
It's been some time, but I remember after some small tweaks (on github) the kernel actually built and booted.
I've never managed to get into contact with Yota directly, but if you're planning development work, maybe you should ask them for an updated tarball, might have updated EPD firmware, CVE fixes and other updates .

Exactly.. I sent a follow-up mail with a friendly reminder of the GPL license and some other "plz gib" attempts, but the response felt more like this:

You're welcome!
And keep in mind: not Yota (mobile carrier), but Yota Devices (SW team)
So, how hard is it to merge this old pile of sources into a newish CM13 branch? I've compiled a linux kernel before but never did any more involved stuff than that - Anyone with prior experience or a decent written guide on how to adapt CM to a device around?

So, are you a member of the Paranoid team? Have you built the rom yourself? Do you have Paranoid official signing key? Do you have any idea what signing key is? What's your contribution to the project? What makes you think you have a right to post "we" are launching a brand spanking new version of android? How did you help to launch the new Paranoid? Can you post a link to a single commit that you have contributed to Paranoid rom? What makes you think you can post the official version of a rom, to which you have zero relation on a development thread? Did you get an authorization from Paranoid to post their official version on XDA? How are you entitled to members' 'thank you', if you have contributed ZERO to the project?
You are a joke!
Edit: Memebers should know that they have the ability to 'unthank' their 'thank you' in this thread. This guy is doing nothing more than taking thank yous for the work of others...

Oh. Is that why you said this:
"We are launching brand spanking fresh. All new features. New team members. New everything and we have made sure that everything that we are releasing has been polished to our best."
So, you must be that new team member with an authorization and key to post and you have done things to make sure the rom is polished to Paranoid's best...
If you happen to find a rom to which you have absolutely no connection, you just post a link in a General thread. This is a development thread and you have no clue, as to what development is. This is not even an unofficial version that you could build yorself (you actually can't build anything). You are just plagiarising the work of others to get "thank yous", to which you have no entitlement. Shame on you...
There's probably a reason why no one from the PA team didn't make a thread for this(which is probably because camera isn't stable yet). Its official because they built it on their servers and they maintain it. They don't want unstable builds being used by the public, which could ruin their name.
All in all, you shouldn't have made a thread in the development forum to post the work of another person/group.

Yes since he arrived on xda a month ago, he started by asking for eta and posting bull****..... And now he robs hours of work. Because yes, you robbed what they did. Now it is enough. Somebody already did a thread in general section for cm 12.1. If you wants to share roms like that, create threads in general section.
Anyway...i will test it! I love honami sry for my bad eng

Open Source Code Available after all!!

Thank you to aloklike for pointing out the written offer in the lemax 2 about screen. LeEco did supply to us an open source after all at their website opensource.le.com!
Here is the direct link to the file for x829 (american version coming soon)http://g3.letv.cn/211/25/72/lefoss/0/Le_X829_OpenSource.zip . I have no clue what can be done with this but to current developers, I hope this will bring magic to custom firmwares now!
If you decide to share source code, by all means do so but please give proper credits to aloklike and me and especially XDA for pointing it out Don't forget to click Thanks if you find this helpful
Edit 1: This is the x820 source http://g3.letv.cn/232/13/5/lefoss/0/Le_X820_OpenSource.zip

No, but you can have fully working CM13, ResurectionRemix, Moke, MIUI, etc.

The link might not work due to ERR_UNSAFE_PORT in Chrome or other browsers...I just used a Download Manager (Jdownloader) to download the file.

You have them because they were developed with unknown sources and probably they were not working at their full potential. (even the working features)
Building them with official sources should reduce the bugs and lags and bad behavior to 0.
So if I am right, we will have good camera software en good FP sensor with the source code.

The stock camera software is decent except it doesn't have RAW mode enabled so maybe someone could re-work it to include RAW mode, or use google camera and re-build that for our device?

Nice, so how do i tag all the previous developers to this thread so they know?
This makes getting up this morning worthwhile!
Took a lot of poking and prodding and forcing motivation to get this out....Lots of us devs have been waiting for it. Personally, I'll thank all the devs I know and the ones I don't, for their efforts to get it too, cause I know they've pulled some strings along the way as well...

i'm so lucky,... lucky lucky lucky.. *sings*
Please dev's make some good rom's now. We're all pretty excited
Exciting news indeed. I can't wait for a fully functioning MIUI8 rom, with OTA and all the bells and whistles. I was getting frustrated. Hopefully, it won't be a long wait. All the best to our trusted DEVs out there.
Today source code for X820 has been released and source code for other devices, too. I don't know if there is a big difference between X829 and X820, but I don't refuse it ^_^
I think that my petition in Change helps this to become reality so, thanks for all people that have signed it, giving me support to continue and thanks to developers that have made roms, recovery and other stuff, doing a hard work, since there isn't available the source code.
There is no difference, x829 is the american version I believe.
