Problem with deep sleep in Xperia C4 - Sony Xperia C4 Questions & Answers

Hello to everyone!! I've been having problem since yesterday with my xperia C4. it wont deep sleep. I've tried uninstalling all the recent apps (like beautifull widgets and the recent app updates like gmail) hoping to solve the problem but it doesnt.
I notice 2 signal bars, so it can be posible that low signal keep the cell awake?? In 10 hours, 8 were awake and 2 in deep sleep. Battery stats doesnt show anything because the device is not rooted. Tried installing watchdog and OS monitor and dont show anything weird using the procesor. But in the FRECS CPU tab (system monitor app) show the procesor working only in 1,2ghz, never in deep sleep or in other frecuency.
I dont know what more i can do. Tried using 2g instead with all signal bars and the problem is the same. tried hard reset, uninstalling chrome, google search.
PS: Sorry my bad english!!

[Q] Deep sleep investigation app ?

Hi,
i tryed to investigate what app/process is always waking my phone from deep sleep.
is there may an app out there wich can do that ?
as u see in the screenshot theres something triggering like every minute ... while screen is off.
i can exclude my sync settings (exchange mail, gmail, facebook, greader, weather)
as i tryed disabling them all and no change
also checked logcat, but theres alot happening ...
thanks ahead
last time in sgs1, i use to be able to do that with Spare Parts. Under battery history, you can select to see which apps were keeping the cpu awake. But it doesnt work in sgs2 and seems to have ceased development.
Someone else wrote Spare Parts+, but the same battery history functions says something about incompatible rom.
CPU Spy does exactly what you want.

huh, i use cpu spy here, but cant find an option wich apps causing no deep sleep ...
all i see which modes been active and how long, like 40 min deep sleep, 5 min 200 mhz, ...
may a hint where to look ?
thanks ahead
someone has posted "battery history for gingerbread" you can use that to check partial wake usage - OR id suggest looking at logcat. ignore everything that scrolls at the beginning logcat will show only a few lines every minute or so - you should be able to find out whats happening there.
ok, after a long search what this could be i finally found it (1 day marathon installing ...)
its the latitude in maps wich is causing this ...
bad thing is, doesnt change when only turning it off, have to kill process and clear
data in app to solve the 1 min wakeup ... then maps is working normal and no more
wakeup´s from deep sleep, the reason why i didnt figured before ...
i hope google will fix this one day or give a choice how often it syncs ...
just in case someone is interested.

Thanks for creating the thread.
How did you check that Latitude was awaking the device? By what app?
Everything was going fine for me till yesterday night it started to Awake again while screen is off. Believe me it really pisses me off. It's a disgrace of Android OS, ehh.
Here, why the underlined Reds are there? (Nothing is set to Auto Sync, No Widgets, No push-pull Email)!!!
I tried to see what's running and awaking the device and used these software's, SeeCPU, CPU Spy, 3G Watchdog, but none of them shows anything.
i know its a pain
also tested system panel, quick system info (logcat), ...
at the end i made an trial and error, installed one by one, started, rebooted, checked.
after each setting change same procedure ... after almost a whole day i activated
latitude and checked in there ... voila, only way to get rid of afterwards is clear data
on googlemaps app and turn latitude off ...
sorry that i cant help u further, but i gave up on all kinda apps checking ...
It's a PITA. I so hate it. Well I also will try to get rid of this damn Latitude stuff and see what happens further and post back.
Regards.
PS- Well how do you turn this latitude off? I can only Sign Out of it!
Try BetterBatteryStats.
I have similar battery graph like you, alturismo, but with the difference that it's not consistent 1min wake always, but certainy most of the time. Also tried different tools to find that out, but the only thing I figured is that maps are trigered by certain app_84 and app_68, but didn't found out what apps these are.
Nevertheless, I never checked to Latitude and the odd thing is that I have a high % usage on maps and Sygic (navigation) even though I haven't used them for weeks. So I'll try to clear data on maps now, thanks for the hint.
Update: I was indeed checked into Latitude. Seems that it was automatially set up after registering the google account. :S
dont forget to clear data in app settings from maps, otherwise the wakeups keep ...
then u can use maps normally again
Strange .. I simply sign off latitude (well it's a bit hidden option, but it is there) .. and latitude is KO. Also when I am on latitude, maps shows in apps in battery stats.

[Q] need help or advice on deep sleep problem

Hey guys,
i am on latest CM9 quarx build..but my phone is not going into deep sleep atall
it says 0% deep sleep in CPUspy...tat has become a headache..i was on epi CM(..there also it had come problem..then installed latest quarx build..then it was going into deep sleep unto few hrs ago..now it says 0% deep sleep.
I cant few detailed battery drinking info on ICS unlike GB..
Any help would be appreciated name of the app..or advice..or any kind of help will do..
Thank you
Try editing your build.prop and adding
Code:
ro.ril.disable.power.collapse=1
Don't know if this will help , but in the event that it doesn't , try ending processes before locking the phone , or use some system analyzer to see what app is stopping deep sleep
Herpderp Adreno + Tegra.
thanks but i did a full data wipe and reinstalled everything from scratch..later restored apps with the help of titanium backup
its pain in the ass to do everything from scratch...anyways if still i face this problem then will report back..anyways could anyone suggest me some apps which can findout which app or process is the culprit?
Try this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
I had the same problem on CM7 120126.2206, and it turned out that Google Maps was the culprit. However, I discovered that Google Maps doesn't prevent the phone from going into deep sleep when the GPS is disabled. Try disabling GPS whenever you're not using it, and see if that helps.
Edit: after further testing, it seems that Google Maps may not have been the culprit after all, or I may have more than one problem with deep sleep. Occasionally the phone gets locked out of deep sleep even when GPS is turned off; yesterday it failed to enter deep sleep even while the phone was untouched for 4 hours. The "BetterBatteryStats" app indicated listed "wifi_wake" under Kernel Wakelocks as the primary culprit. Disabling then re-enabling wifi solved the problem, at least temporarily.

Large amount of Audioout_2 and Audioout_3 wakelocks

So I get these wakelocks for some reason, about 2-10 minutes of Audioout_2 and Audioout_3 per hour when idle, with screen off.
And they seem to show up as wakelocks, even if I have my phone active. So I get like 47minutes of this wakelock, but awake time is 56:27minutes and screen on 54 minutes. And this is not the problem until you see how much of this wakelock has kept your phone awake after 24 hours, I had like 3-5 hours. Should I be worried?
APP - Wakelock Detector, BetterBatteryStats.
What I have tried - Uninstalling Viber, no difference. Disabling all lock sounds, touch sounds, dial pad tones, not much difference either.
I didn't have this before, what could it be?
Android 4.3 Stock, not rooted
I seem to be having the same issue. I'm running on stock 4.3, no rooting, I do not have Viber, and while I do have Skype installed, I almost never use it. I have haptic feedback disabled as well as touch sounds.
Rebooting the phone seems to fix the issue, but that's obviously a bit of a pain to do every time.
Other than maybe blaming Poweramp for keeping the wakelock going, I can't think of any other apps that could be causing the issue.

After you reboot when does the issue seem to come back? What apps are you usually using?
Do you have any of these apps - Light Manager, DashClock Widget, Smart Wifi toggler.*
*These apps have no deal with audio wakelocks whatsoever, but still, maybe 4.3 has caused one of those apps to use the audio wakelocks somehow.

My main apps are Gmail, Chrome, Facebook, Twitter, BaconReader and Poweramp. After rebooting the length of the wakelock time definitely isn't as long. And yes, I do have DashClock Widget. I didn't consider that one to be a potential culprit.

I have the same problem.
I noticed that audioout_2 only runs when my screen is on.(most of the time)
The audioout_2 run time and SOT are always close.
The audioout_2 and audioout_3 will not run (very minimum) when your cell goes into deep sleep.
I have mostly Google apps installed.
Edit: After searching on internet,Many users told these wakelocks can be caused if there is a corrupted mediafile (picture,music,video)..
Need a solution for this.

What do you mean corrupted mediafile, like unsupported MP3 file? Could that be a problem? God dammit, this is too complicated.
I have only a few pictures that I have taken with the phone, no videos. Only music could be related.
So I yesterday turned on location services, the results I got were pretty bad. I am not 100% sure that the issue is location services, but I did not have this bad screen_on - awake ratio before. Here are some screens.
I didn't do anything unusual, I might report back tomorrow about results w/o location services.
I left only GPS setting active in location settings. Here are the results.
6hours phone on, Battery left 87%.
55:31min awake, 38min screen on.
1013 wakelock usage 32:12min.
I played a few games, made some calls for the time when screen was awake.
I would call this a success, because usually I could barely make through a day, almost 3hours screen on in 12hour period. And the battery is dead.

I disabled Wi-Fi & mobile network location in Location access settings. But I am not entirely sure that this is a solution.
I am very confused with all this Android and Nexus 4 problem amount and uncertainty, I am not even sure what to believe anymore. I am starting to wish I had bought an iPhone. Maybe it was because I was at just at home and in a city mainly, and the cellphone just didn't have to look for different cell towers, I am not sure what should I even think anymore.
But currently this has helped me, I guess. Disadvantages of this might be that the phone will not be able to select the best server available when indoors... I'm just so tired of Android.
I can't shake off this stupid wakelock, it keeps my phone awake, Android is soo annoying, I would probably never notice this if it weren't for the battery usage apps, but I would notice the horrible battery life on Nexus 4.
Has anyone had this problem and made it go away? Or is still having, and just got through with it and ignores it? Please help me!
I think I had 0 amount of this wakelock in the first few days I got these battery status apps, I had only a few Media, Caldendar, Gmail etc. wakelocks
The wakelocks are caused by the touch sounds that are enabled by default.
Everytime you touch a button on your phone it will make a sound, which will initiate the wakelock. Turn off these sounds in:
Settings -> Sound -> Touch Sound
You can also 'hear' the wakelock, because when you hold the back speaker of the phone to your ear when a sound was just played, you will hear some static noise for ~2-3 seconds after the sound finished playing.
When you listen to music or watching a video you will also get these wakelocks, but that's completely normal.

+1 to that
Even if u have ur dialpad to sound off. Go ahead and type numbers in like crazy then check the wakelocks!
Even if u have turned that option to OFF.

Right, did You have that before? Or it just turned up recently, I don't remember having this much wakelocks, and why are ''wakelocks'' wakelocks when you are using your phone and the screen is on?
I noticed that if I don't have internet access, the wakelock doesn't come up as much. It's some kind of app, maybe, it very much could be one of Google's, It ain't Viber (for me), I have tried disabling, turning it off, no change in wakelock amount.

I just checked that now
To be honest i'm in the same condition u are in. I don't know whats causing these. Try greenifying Google+, Google Now etc. They have helped me a bit in saving some... Google+ updates/syncs, and that makes a wakelock as well.

I have set syncing and updating google apps to the minimum already. Google Now is not active.
Does other android phones like Galaxy S3, S4, HTC One also have this bad battery life, or is it Nexus 4 specific?

Do You have Flash Player installed on Your Android device?
This is really weird, I restart the phone, use gmail, and some other apps, turn off screen, check for wake locks, no Audio wake lock at all, I open Chrome, use it a little and then check for wake locks and it has appeared and is at at the top, also other wakelocks have increased count.
Also another matter, I notice a little pop in the speakers sometimes, even though I have set to vibrate only mode.
EVERY TIME I TOUCH THE SCREEN THE SPEAKER TURNS ON, it is just quietly hissing, you need to be in complete silence to hear this. This is definitely causing a big battery drain, I need to fix this ASAP. Anyone has a clue?
Turned off touch sounds, hissing has disappeared. But it literally started hissing after I press anywhere on the screen, even though only a few buttons make a touch sound.
Got to stop typing now, my hands are burning when I'm using Google chrome on my nexus 4...
I disabled Google+ Notifications through Google+(app) > Settings > google account > notifications
And I turned off all Sounds, from Dial pad touch tones to screen lock sound and vibrate on touch. Now I had tried this before the Google+, but I still had the issue with the wakelock.
I get little to none of this wakelock, also turned off google+ backup feature. Disabled some sync options in google account.
But basically I get a lot less of this wakelock now, I am not entirely sure it was Google+, but I have been using the phone casually, as usual for 30+ Hours, charged once, and I get better battery life and much less of this wake lock, phone is mostly in sleep mode when screen is off, about 1-4 Minutes awake.
Now I don't guarantee anything, maybe it's some service that didn't start up this time, but I'm pretty sure that I had opened every app that I was using when I had the problem, this seems to have fixed the problem, see if it helps, if you are experiencing the same issue, and please let me know, thanks!
Oh and I have been using the phone's speaker indeed, for games, Youtube app, Chrome etc. and Received calls, messages, notifications.
Any solution? I'm still having this 1013 wakelock without apparent cause..

WLAN_WAKE wakelock + Wi-Fi not showing

I'm at a loss here and i hope somebody can help me out here.
I've had my Note 4 for a while now, working great, but after a week or two after flashing Simpl-rom (latest)(Android 5.0.1) it started to drain battery while the screen was off.
I tried to debug this issue and found that WLAN_WAKE is preventing the device from sleeping.
Of course i did search for solutions but none of that worked, disabled all the background scanning and stuff in advanced wifi settings.
I tried to freeze all my regularly used apps planning to unfreeze them one by one to see when the issue started to show up, odd thing is, the issue persists even if i freeze all my daily-use apps.
I also noticed no networks in range show up in my Wi-Fi list, only the ones that i saved in the past (of course most showing out of range).
Using a 3rd party Wi-Fi manager works fine, it detects all the networks in range.
Disabling Wi-Fi allows the phone to go back to sleep again. However, when enabled again after that no more sleeping occurs.
The only "solution" to this is a full reboot. This solves the wakelock/batterydrain issue temporarily but not the Wi-Fi networks not showing up.
It can take 30 minutes before the issue shows up again or it can take half a day.
I also tried to detect if any apps were using background data, none that i could detect.
Even stranger, i have the exact same issue with my Galaxy S5 running Omega-rom (latest). (Android 5.0.1)
The drain on the battery isn't huge (10-15% per night), but it's there and unnecessary (i know it can do with 2-3% per night if the bug doesn't occur), obviously something is going wrong and i wish to find out what and resolve it.
Anyone experienced similar problems or knows how i can proceed to debug this issue?
I say issue because i feel these problems are related, they could be separate problems though..

Deep sleep problem

The phone (Mi Mix 5g) is struggling to go into deep sleep and occasionally registers 0% in accubattery stats (for 'deep sleep'). I have followed all the guides and threads posted here and tinkered with all the obvious settings. The phone is not rooted and running stable android 9 MIUI 10. Sometimes I get 98% deep sleep which is what I am looking for, other times I get 40-60% (not acceptable) and other times 0%. I have installed Greenify to try and shutdown apps but something seems to be hampering it, everything is greenified accept battery stats and Nova. I do get a notification on greenify to say that the screen lock was to fast for greenify to operate but I cannot see any setting in MIUI10 to change the time between sleep and turning off the screen (although I do remember seeing this on previous android versions).
Any clues as to what is causing this and how I could go about diagnostics to see what service/app is causing the issue.? As i said before I have tried hard reset, soft reset before sleep and all the settings outlined in previous posts here on the forum. One possible issue is poor reception inside the house which causes it to jump bands regularly, could this be waking the phone up in deep sleep?
eagerly awaiting your suggestions.
Might be good play services. Have you tried stopping them and erasing the data?

Thanks for your reply, I had seen this and cleared the cache of the play services as mentioned in another thread. Did not seem to have any noticeable effect for me.
Small update for anyone experiencing similar woes. I changed the setting in clear recent apps from 'after 10 mins' to 'never' which seems to have had effect, since this I have been getting multiple +60% deep sleep figures. Reset the phone yesterday evening which produced 96% deep sleep result. This is acceptable and what we are seeking however resetting the phone nightly is not.
Update.
I have resolved this by going into data usage - system apps and clearing the cash of the top data users. Also clear cache on play services and play store. I am now achieving deep sleep in the region of 90-100% of screen off time.

The problem appears to be intermittent and requires regular maintenance using the steps above combined with soft reset.
