SoundRecorder.apk - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
I noticed there's an app with the name of SoundRecorder.apk in the apps directory, however, Android does not show any app in launcher that could record audio. So I am wondering... where is it, the Sound Recorder?
Thanks!

Maybe for FM radio recording.

That is the Android default key app for voice dictating... you can download the sound recorder shortcut from the play store to gain direct access to the app...
Example:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thinkleft.soundrecorder

Thanks... Just to clarify... The app you linked... Is it a shortcut or another install of the app?
Thanks!

Actually that link is for the ported app.
You can find Shortcut apps on the play store like this one:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kayan.nurav.soundrecorder
Or you can look in here on xda for the same unbranded shortcut.

Sound Recorder

I accidentally found out that there is a sound recorder app in the Tab by it is kind of hidden. Anyone knows how to get it out to the surface, so it can be of good use?
Btw, I discover it when I try to upload a file from browser.

/system/app/SoundRecorder.apk => com.android.soundrecorder
It needs to be called from another application though, it's not a standalone app.
Thanks! But I can't seem to find an existing app that make use of the sound recorder (apart from video?).
Was hoping to be able to use it to record telephone conversation.

The better the plicacion stock as long as you have a cooked rom, usually all usually have that option, which is very valid and no cumbersome.
If having to install soware seconds.

Did you ever figure out a way to record it?
I had used this app on my evo 3d with no issues.
..now it doesnt work on the Galaxy s4...records my voice only..
just wondering if you figured it out?
Using "another call recorder" on 9505 stock not rooted. Works flawlessly just have to set outgoing delay above 0. Recording via bt headset also works perfectly.
Slig, searched for that in google Play without any luck. Do you have a link?
Thank you in advance.
Here you are: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nll.acr&feature=search_result.

Thanks.
What are your settings for:
Recording format:
and
Audio Source:
defaults: 3gp and voice_call
The only setting in recording i've changed is that delay. I've set it to value of 2. When it was zero outgoing recording was failing from time to time.
I'm using this app in auto recording mode with few numbers excluded. My save folder is located on sd card.

Followed your exact instructions...doesnt work.
I made a few calls and it said it was recording. Now each recording is exactly 641 bytes and cannot be opened (the built in player opens and shuts right down), tried other media players and accessed the recording in the ACR folder without any luck as well...;. I'm on T-mobile service but i dont think it matters.... weird...
I downloaded version version 4.3 from the market. not sure which one you are using.
I have version 4.3 from the market. Don't know why it behaves so weird in your case. My rom version is MEA. There is also program called Galaxy Call Recorder which worked on my phone. Maybe try this one.
My phone isnt rooted....
I'm using this app now thanks to Slig.. works reliably with my unrooted S4

Not sure what phone you are using it on but it does NOT work on the galaxy s4.in fact each output file is 641bytes (even though the recording times differ) and EStrong audio player cannot even open them

Voice Recorder

Is there a built-in voice recorder app on the Nexus 4 running 4.2.2?
No, but if you need a good one, I use ASR recorder on the market. It's free and saves the recordings in mp3 format.

I can't believe stock Android doesn't have a voice recorder. I tried the app you suggested but I can't seem to find where it stores the files after recording. I see nothing in the app to retrieve it and I don't want to have to search thru the file system for them. I'll look for an aftermarket.

The app is just a shortcut to launch the built in app. If you go to Settings > Apps > All and scroll through the list, you will see "Sound Recorder". It's been there since Cupcake days on most Android phones. The sound files are in amr file format if I remember (been a while since I used it), and QuickTime Player will open them. Now I use "Google Keep" which lets me create notes in the cloud with text, sound, or pictures.

Where are the files stored with "Sound Recorder"? Format is not so important to me as I just need to make short voice notes to myself and then play them back on the phone at a later time. On my current Gingerbread this was so simple and I had the shortcut placed on my desktop.

On mine, it's in "Nexus 4\Internal storage\recording69490665.3gpp" filename will vary of course.
There are a lot better apps though. For your use, I would look at Google Keep:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.keep
Later, you can access the notes from a PC as well:
https://drive.google.com/keep/
This is what I now use

Help: HTC M8 Music app on HTC 10?

I didn't know where to post this so here goes...
My wife wants the HTC Music app that came off of the M8 on her HTC10. I was able to find the M8's .apk's but every time I try to install the music .apk I get the following error.
https://flic.kr/p/Ge2JnZ
Now, I know what you're thinking... just get a different app. Believe me when I say, I already tried...lol
So, Java wizards - what's the issue here?

Your wife is right to demand the HTC music app. I bought the HTC 10 and I'm really disappointed in the lack of HTC apps, gone is the gallery, gone is the music app and widgets, gone is the calendar app and widgets gone is the car app, I've replaced all except the car app, so thanks for this thread
And if anyone has the latest HTC car apk would be much appreciated

Missing the Music App on M8
Yes, I have also recently got the HTC 10 and missing the music app which was there on M8. It was easier to organise my music on that. Also I could edit any of the music to make it into a ringtone.
You are my savior!!! Thank you very very much!!
I don't like google music and gallery..

Make sure you allow "apps from unknown sources" in your settings and that you're trying to open the app from a file manager (I've had trouble sometimes just installing an apk from Downloads)
