XT1528 - Script to use Moto E with GSM carriers (automated) - E 2015 General

Hi guys,
I created a batch file that should simplify the selection of LTE/GSM mode (which is hidden/not enabled on XT1528) for usage with GSM carriers. It includes ADB and the batch file itself.
Windows only guys, sorry to others platforms. Tested with 5.1, if doesn't work with other versions, just let me know to test.
THIS DOESNT REMOVE THE SIM LOCK, JUST ENABLES A HIDDEN OPTION FROM MOTO E 2ND 4G XT1528
I didnt found this, I just gathered the info and created the batch for easiest method. All credit to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e-2015/general/how-to-verizon-moto-e-2015-gsm-network-t3098953
Instrucctions:
0) Insert sim card on phone (if wasn't already there)
1) Download the attached file and unzip it somewhere on your hardrive (something like "c:\temp" for example)
2) Enable USB debugging on your cellphone.
3) Connect your cellphone to the computer that has the files.
4) Accept the RSA Key in your cellphone screen (it will pop when you connect the cellphone in USB Debugging mode)
5) Run the "gsmfix" file (either via command line or windows explorer)
6) Follow the instructions.
You should be able to use gsm signals after the reboot. Remember to add your APN or you wont have internet.
If something doesn't work, let me know and I'll to fix it fast.
Bye!

I can use on the xt1511 ? 3G ?

This script selects GSM instead of CDMA in the cellphone Moto E 2nd Gen Verizo). If your phone doesn't have the option to choose that on mobile networks, you can give it a try.
If you are looking for something that will unlock the carrier lock and allow you use your cellphone in other carriers besides the one intended, it wont do anything. For that, you'll have to buy a unlock code from one of many websites that sell that service on internet.
Bye!

So instead of doing this
5.1 Updated Instrcutions:
With the SIM you want to use the the phone :
Put the phone into Airplane mode (I'm not sure this is needed, but it doesn't hurt)
Go to Settings -> About Phone and tap on "Build Number" until it says you are in Developer Mode (~10 times)
Go back one menu, and right above About Phone there should now be an option for Developer Options, go into that.
Turn on USB Debugging
Connect the phone to your computer and type "adb shell" in your CMD window
Run the following commands in adb shell : settings put global preferred_network_mode 9 settings put global preferred_network_mode1 9 settings put global preferred_network_mode2 9
Turn off Airplane mode
Power off and Restart the phone
Open up the settings app, go to the mobile networks panel, select "Prefered Network Mode" and change it to "4G"
Input the appropriate APNs for your specific carrier
I can just run this script and I'll get the same outcome? Because I'm switching my sim card out and I heard that you have to repeat the process above when the sim card is taken out etc.

Y es, it does the same thing

I guess it's good to have one more option for GSM, even if it is the same as in the other thread.

Unlocking the HTC G1 from germany!

Hello,
I new here, i'm from germay, and i only found a way for unlocking USA Phones.
Now my question is if anyone knows a way hot to unlock my phone which is from germany and also locked on german t-mobile.
Sorry if there was this question before but i havnt found it.
Merry Christmas! tollmar
Afaik the german g1 do not have a Netlock or Simlock, only the austrian have. I rooted my german g1 with a goldcard.
yes, yes, bastards is right, you need a goldcard and root our germany G1 canbe very easy , do it ,you can
My german G1 never had a Netlock. Are you sure that your one really have it?
And the first Android Devices released here in Austria also never had a Netlock, the G1 and the Magic (at least the Vodafone ones).
Well i mean the Austria one But t-mobile austria and german is the same
SO anyone got an idea?
I tried to unlock it with a code i get from a site. But it havnt worked..
Now there is not any longer the screen where i can enter the code..
Is it normal that after 1 fals entering i cant enter it anymore ?
When i Start the phone now, i just see the screen to log in google account, but cause the handy is not unlocked i dont get connection to it.
What shall i do?
Which release are you on? On 1.5 or 1.6 you could just skip it for now and use wifi later, after activating it in the settings. If it's older you have to search the forums, I've seen a few threads about that.
Well the its the fact, that the phone isnt UNLOCKED... I asked at HTC and they ment if the phone isnt Unlocked i cant logged in Google!
The best solution
I performed this procedure during rooting my G1 without a T-Mobile data plan. I don't remember who published this info so I can't give credit where it's due. I found a root kit along with specific instructions here: http://forums.t-mobile.com/t5/Opera...oot-G1-even-if-it-has-1-6-android/td-p/237395. Once you downgrade then upgrade to 1.5 or cupcake, you are within the 'security hole' to root you G1. In order to proceed from this point, you must have a data plan or follow this procedure to enable wifi and log into google. Also, this process works without a sims card. Here goes.
Activate Stock G1 over WiFi
I've seen a few guides around the internet in regards to activating a G1 over wifi without a data package, and decided to test it myself. Since it worked, I'm compiling the information that I've gathered into one easy-to-read thread.
Standard disclaimer:
Bricked phones, not my fault.
The Setup
1x Stock G1 running cupcake, this phone has no root modifications on it.
1x USB cable
1x SD card, at least 128MB
The image file to downgrade to version RC29 of Android, download here
ADB for your computer:
Linux Download
Mac Download
Windows Download
Windows Only:
Windows Drivers for Android (XP only)
--End Setup--
1. Ensure that your SD card is formated FAT32, and place the DREAIMG.nbh, that came out of the DREAIMG-RC29.zip file, in the root directory of the SD card. (No, DREAIMG is not a typo.)
2. With the phone off, insert the SD card into your G1.
3. While holding down the camera button, turn on the phone.
3a. You should see a rainbow screen, followed almost immediately by a gray screen. (mileage and colors may vary)
3b. One of the lines on the phone should read: "Press power button to start update image".
3c. Press the power button
3d. Wait for the entire process to complete, do not interrupt! It will tell you it is done updating.
4. Reboot phone.
Download the appropriate ADB file for your system, if you're on a Windurrs machine you'll need to download and install the Android drivers as well.
Ok, we're done rolling back to RC29; and we have access to the 'sploit which gives us terminal access without seeing the terminal.
Until I tell you to later on, do not touch the screen for any reason. During the rollback process the screen has turned into hot lava and will burn your hand if you touch it. If you can't resist, and touch the screen not only will you be sans one digit but you get to reboot your phone and start over.
You should now be at this screen:
<pic>
5. Hit <enter>, type "reboot"(no quotes), and hit enter again.
5a. If all went well your phone just rebooted, yay good thing!
6. We're back to the last screen.
7. Plug your phone into your computer using your USB cable.
8. If you mistype this step or it doesn't work(because you mistyped), you'll need to reboot your phone and try, try again.
9. Hit <enter>, type "setprop persist.service.adb.enable 1"(no quotes), hit <enter>
9b. If all went well you should get an error message saying something like "cannot dial 7387767 7377478.7378423.232.362253 1, it's not an emergency number. This is a good thing, we hope.
10. Set your phone down.
11. Open a terminal on your computer, and navigate to the folder containing the adb file you downloaded earlier.
edit: First cd 'drag and drop the folder Tools into the terminal window. I will copy the proper directory path.
12. If all is well, you should be able to type "adb" and get a big screen of options.
13. Type "adb devices".
13a. You should see the following: <pic>
13b. If all you see is "list of devices attached", and nothing below it, reboot your phone and move back to step 8.
13c. type "adb shell" (no quotes)
14. Copy and paste "am start -a android.intent.action.MAIN -n com.android.settings/.Settings" into your terminal.(no quotes)
15. If your copy+paste-fu is strong, you'll see this screen: <pic>
At this point you're in. You will see the 'Settings' window allowing you to set up wifi, and connect to google data and hence the internet.
Regards, davidrol
Obviously, my g1 was unlocked, after my first attempt.

Rooted Locked Razr M/ How do I get recovery/GSM Straight Talk

The situation is this: Friend got a Droid Razr M, and I went and rooted it. I have learned that it's impossible pretty much to unlock the bootloader since his was built May 24th and has the most current OTA update.
What he would like to have is the phone on the Straight Talk Network. He would also like a custom recovery and ROM. I'm a little lost on this phone and have spent 3 hours reading at least on the forum between last night and this afternoon. Is it possible someone could give me some pointers?

I prefer using the NV Item method with CDMA NV-Items Reader Writer, offered free from CDMA-Ware.
(Credits for this go to tehjolly81 for his PagePlus guide to connect phone)
1) With the phone off, do the three-finger salute (hold Volume Up and Down and Power to boot) and boot into BP Tools mode (looks just like normal boot).
2) Now connect phone to PC via USB cable. If you are on Win7 x64 like me, Windows should find 4 new devices but won't have the drivers to install any of them. If prompted to install anything by Windows, (i.e., Add New Hardware Wizard, etc) cancel out of it.
3) Click 'Start' -> right click on 'Computer' and choose 'Properties'. Click on 'Device Manager' on the left. Here you should see 4 items from the phone that are missing a driver (they will have a yellow question mark next to them).
4) One of the items with a question mark should be labeled something similar to "QC Interface" (NOT the NMEA interface). Right click on it and choose Update Driver Software. Now choose Browse my computer for driver software -> Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer -> Show all devices -> Motorola -> Motorola QC Diag Port. Finish running through the wizard and it should install the correct driver. After installed, it should show the COM Port # that the diagnostic interface is installed on under the "Ports (COM & LPT)" section of Device Manager.
After getting the QC Interface and getting a com port, just download the free NV-Items reader writer from Here.
Unrar the exe and run it;
1: Select the com port of your phone and hit connect
2: Press read at the top, bottom should say this: Log message: > SPC is correct. Phone unlocked
3: In Range (Dec): put 8322 in the left box 8323 in the right box and hit read; it will prompt to save as a text file.
4: Open the file and change the first 01 to 00 under the 8322 section DO NOT MODIFY 8323. Save the changes.
5: Tap Write and select the saved text file, it should show Writing NV-items from a file: Done at the bottom.
6: Tap Mode > Reset then tap Disconnect and close the program, GSM should work fine after that.
I find this method easier and less dangerous than the Radiocomm method.
This is *IF* you want to use Straight Talk's GSM BYOP, they DO offer CDMA BYOP now, which then should just activate like a normal Verizon phone after you buy their network code and activate the MEID with them.

[How To] Edit ALL Network Bands on ALL M9's

EDIT: 21/06/2017 THIS MAY NO LONGER WORK DUE TO NEW SECURITY. LEFT HERE FOR REFERENCE ONLY
WARNING: THIS PROCEDURE MAKES DANGEROUS CHANGES TO YOU DEVICE, I DO NOT ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR DAMAGES
EDIT: FINDINGS SHOW THAT GSM MODELS DO NOT SAVE THE BANDS AFTER REBOOT. QPST/QXDM MAY SUIT BETTER FOR THIS. CDMA MODELS SEEM TO BE FINE AT THIS STAGE.
For GSM MODELS (please click unhide content below) thanks to @guidojusto, be sure to thank his post

Well I did find some little time to do a guide trough the process to change LTE bands, take in consideration that I did this process on my HTC One M9 Developer-Unlocked version (Should be the same as the AT&T one).
I DO NOT ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR DAMAGES
You will need:
QXDM Pro 3.12.714 (I do not have any links, and deleted my installer, I’m sorry) .
HTC Diag drivers (Find these drivers on first post).
DFS CDMA software (Also find the link to this program on first post).
NV LTE Calculator (I found a couple of apps on the Play Store, I used both of them in order to check if the values matched).
Phone should be:
Rooted
Developer Mode Enabled with USB Debugging activated
S-Offed (Not completely sure about this one, I'm while doing this process though)
In order to install the drivers on Windows 8 and upcoming OS’s you will have to turn off signature driver verification.
Also, please, use the two screenshots provided in order to make things easier for you.
1.
Open a terminal where your adb folder is and run
Code:
adb shell
su
echo 1 > /sys/devices/virtual/android_usb/android0/f_diag/func_en
Note: After this, you need to install the diag drivers you download before, when you are ready, continue.
2.
Open DFS CDMA software and look for the COM HTC Diagnostic Interface, take note of the COM port the phone is using. On the screenshot provided is COM 3, yours may differ. Close the program now.
3.
Open QXDM Pro and go to Options --> Communications… Check for the COM with diagnostics (In this case COM 3) (Step 2 on the screenshot). Then look for Target Port and select the COM your HTC Device is using from what you saw while using DFS CDMA software on the beginning (Step 4 on the screenshot). Click OK (Step 5 on the screenshot).
4.
Go to Category Filter and select LTE there.
5.
Look for the first value 06828.
6.
In Fields press Read (Step 8 on the screenshots)
7.
Save the value to somewhere safe, as a backup of what the phone is currently using for connecting to LTE antennas.
8.
Input the number you want to use (Use NV LTE Calculator or other program to get the right number for the LTE bands you want to use) (Step 9 on the screenshots).
9.
Press Write. Close QXDM Pro now.
10.
Go again to your adb terminal and type
Code:
adb shell
su
echo 0 > /sys/devices/virtual/android_usb/android0/f_diag/func_en
11.
Profit!
If you want to check if these settings stick after reboot, then you reboot the phone, and do the same steps up to the step 8 where you need to read the values the phone has, if it has the same values you have manually changed it means the process worked perfectly.
Hope this helps @stifilz you should thank him!

Hi all,
I have been playing with this for the last couple of days.
Hopefully this will help you to change the network bands available to your HTC One M9 - All variants should work - Tested on Sprint M9 and GSM M8.
Prep:
You will need DFS CDMA tool from http://cdmatool.com/ demo version will work (create an account too, it is free and you do not need to add credit)
You will need HTC Diag drivers (attached)
Preparing your device:
Device Should be S-OFF (S-ON may work)
You must have ROOT
ADB must be enabled
Firstly USB diag mode must be enabled, on CDMA devices you can use ##3424#.
This option is not available for GSM devices. So we have to echo '1' (which means turn on) to the f_diag USB mode, this is set to '0' (which means turn off) by default.
So you have to use the following code:
Code:
adb shell
su
echo 1 > /sys/devices/virtual/android_usb/android0/f_diag/func_en
This is the code available on my Sprint M9 but should be the same on other variants.
I have tested this method on my HTC M8 GSM and it does connect to the PC
M8's code is slightly different.
This should have enabled DIAG mode and you should have a new device on the PC.
Please install driver by manually updating the unknown driver.
Install DFS CDMA Tool if you haven't already and open DFS.
I should show a login screen, you may need to create an account (I can't remember). Log in and close that window and the main window should ope wait 50 seconds (demo limitations).
You should be presented with your device on the 'Equipment' tab. Mine is COM3 HTC Diagnostic Interface (COM3).
If it is not showing please check you drivers and close the program and then open it again.
If you are still having trouble try to use QPST to check that the device is recognised.
From there double click your device name and it should put a 'tick' next to it.
It should show your device details and the bottom under 'Devices Online:'
From the click on the 'Band' tab.
This will change screens to the band menu.
CMDA/GSM/HSDPA
ALL THE BANDS will show for CDMA/GSM/HSDPA (NOT YOURS)
Down the bottom right change the radio (black circle) to 'RF BC Config' form 'Band Preferred'
Click the Read button and wait 300seconds (demo limitations)
This will show the bands that YOUR DEVICE HAS.
DO NOT ADD MORE BANDS THAN YOU REQUIRE THIS IS HIGHLY DANGEROUS
To enable more bands, simply click the ones you need and then press Write when you are ready.
LTE
Click the 'LTE' tab
ALL THE BANDS will show for LTE (NOT YOURS)
Down the bottom right change the radio (black circle) to 'LTE BC Config LTE #6828'
Click the Read button and wait 300 seconds (demo limitations)
This will show the LTE bands that YOUR DEVICE HAS.
DO NOT ADD MORE BANDS THAN YOU REQUIRE THIS IS HIGHLY DANGEROUS
To enable more bands, simply click the ones you need and then press Write when ready.
For good measure also change the vaules in 'LTE BC Config DIV LTE #6829'
You can now close DFS.
Disable diag mode using the following code
Code:
adb shell
su
echo 0 > /sys/devices/virtual/android_usb/android0/f_diag/func_en
Don't freak out if you loose signal, this is normal. Simply reboot the phone and signal should come back.
Please read bands from the phone again and let me know if they stayed
I tested it using my Sprint M9.
For me I in New Zealand I enabled LTE Bands 3 (1800+) and 28 (700 APT) and WCDMA VIII (800 MHz).
It seems the change was permanent as I rebooted and read it from the phone and it was still there.
I am unable to test as it is still Sim Locked . If someone could help with that, that would be greatly appreciated
I also tested on my GSM M8, but I did not write to it as I have all the bands I need.
Any questions, feel free to ask.
Hopefully this opens up some doors for this device.
Band LTE reference:
Sprint: 2, 4, 12, 25, 41
T-Mobile: 2, 3, 4, 7, 12, and 17
AT&T: 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 17, and 29
HTC Dev & Unlocked Versions: 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 13, 17, 29, 30
Cheers
Stifilz

Such as phone model, brand, s-on/s-off etc
You may well be the very first tester (other than myself) and I would be happy to add you to the credits.
Thanks

Tested on a spare sprint m8 with the sim unlocked. It was fairly simple process but you have to be patient and make sure its copied correctly. I used windows 7 since windows 8.1 & 10 was annoying me a times with driver issues. My m9 is already gsm unlocked so cant really test on that nor can i try on a dev m8 which i got already.

Thanks for the feedback. The idea is that it will WORK on GSM
The f_diag code can enable the diag mode on GSM phones. On CDMA you can use the ##3424# code from phone dialer.
I could read the bands of my GSM M8 but had no need to write to it.
Also tried on a spare GSM M7, but this did no keep the bands that I added / removed after a reboot. Whereas, the M9 kept them changed.
With windows 8 you'll have to disable driver checks etc also. It was such a pain
Thanks again for your input
Stifilz
Are the drivers same for m8?
Worked without any issues at all. Thanks a lot, I needed in order to unlock band 28 700 APT. I'm using an HTC One M9 Unlocked - Developer Edition.
Only thing, I had to reboot my device after doing echo 0 command in order to get signal again.
Thanks again!

Glad to hear. Can you please confirm that the band is still available after the reboot by reading the bands from the phone again? I thought it had worked with my M7 but the bands had changed back after boot. I'm hoping it was an isolated incident

Just checked after a couple of reboots and I can confirm BC 28 is not sticking upon reboot. I tried deselecting another band (BC 29) and adding BC28 thinking maybe there was a maximum limitation of bands HTC One M9 can be capable of handling but it does not change the result. It sticks while it is on and when the phone reboot it resets to its original bands configuration. I can only edit 'LTE BC Config LTE #6828' on DFS and not DIV LTE. I'm running Maximus ROM, S-Off, latest firmware and modem radio.
Hope it helps!

I believe it was 6.0 marshmallow. I do know that its no longer working for the newer version. I havent look into it but the idea is to get pass any screen that would allow you to install the apk via. 3rd party you can frp reset with the same apk file. (sometimes requiring you to push different buttons in certain order or speed)

True. I've watched the video a few times, and the goal is just to get to the place where you can interact with the phone and run that file. I want to say I made it most of the way through this method before, when I first started. But I was only beginning. So I didn't know about ROMs, and versions, and such. Now, i realize it wouldn't work because I had 7.0 and the menus and such differ. Anyway, off to try again. Sigh.

Root ph7 firmware? Needing hotspot

Hello all, I'm trying to get a workable hotspot for my wifes S7 on sprint. She has PH7 firmware, from what I have been reading I can't root with that firmware. True or no? If not should I go ahead and update? TIA
I can root any Samsung firmware for you. 7.1.1 included down to 4.4.2

To make it faster find out your Firmwares revision (enter recovery with key combos) and download matching firmware file at androidfilehost.com or similar to get started.

Hotspot Hack
1. Enable developer mode:
a. Go to settings
b. Scroll down to about phone
c. Repeatedly tap "Build number" until developer access is granted
2. Get ADB installed w/ drivers
a. https://forum.xda-developers.com/sho....php?t=2588979
3. Enable USB Debugging
a. Go to settings
b. Go down to developer options
c. Scroll down to USB Debugging and turn it on
d. Connect phone with USB to PC
4. Get into ADB shell
a. Open a command prompt (windows key + R , type "cmd" in the box and press enter is my favorite way)
b. Run:
Code:
adb shell
5. Enable the bypass
a. Disable the DUN requirement
Code:
settings put global tether_dun_required 0
b. Overwrite the DUN APN
Code:
settings put global tether_dun_apn "APNDUN,n.ispsn,,,,,,,,,310,120,,default,mms,dun"
6. Turn off Mobile Data
7. Turn on HotSpot
8. Turn on Mobile Data
Every time that you want to use the hotspot you have to turn data off; turn hotspot on; turn data back on. When you disconnect your hotspot you need to do the following:
1. Turn Hotspot Off
2. Turn Mobile Data Off
3. Turn Mobile Data On
People will complain, but after you run the code the first time, turning hotspot on and off literally takes just seconds.
Awesome, it worked great, thanks a lot xdaSEx10! How would you revert back to original settings if need be?
Actually, I spoke too soon. It worked a far as it allows me to create the hotspot, but it doesn't share the internet data.
I followed your steps exactly. Any idea of a solution please?
Thanks!

Did you follow the directions and copy the correct code? It should work flawlessly. I would try it again just to double check. To use make sure you:
1. Turn off mobile data
2. Turn on hotspot
3. Connect device to hotspot
4. Turn on mobile data
You have to do this for it to work.
Hi thanks, I got it working! I ended up finding the OP with these same instructions listed as the alternative method.
I used the first method in that post, with slightly different adb commands, and it worked like a charm. Thanks again!
