i download and bought from itunes an album , format aac , extension m4a
i have noticed that the player does play ogg vorbis , mp4 but not aac at leat in this format or extension
i tried to scan all my folders , nothing
and about the lyrics may i know which metadata files does it read ?

A. Install another audio player or
B. Convert all files to accepted format

I have the same problem.
Only Poweramp works for me + it has build in equalizer and you can change themes.

hi
try blackplayer ! it's free
but i'm bored to install other application for simple tasks , i mean at least the p8 player should play aac ! i have to open with the video player

[Solved - sort of]
Just to add to the confusion, I have a slightly similar/different problem. My P8lite plays m4a files bought and/or ripped via iTunes stored on the SDCard, then it wouldn't find newer ones I added. File explorer apps show they are there at
SDCard/Music/NewAlbum/Track1.m4a
SDCard/Music/NewAlbum/Track2.m4a
etc, etc
I like that the P8lite native MusicPlayer will look for and play random folders, except that the ones it can't find do show up in the VideoPlayer. ??!!?? I have another 3rd party app also called MusicPlayer that worked well on a previous phone, but it too cannot "see" the missing folders. These files seem to have been grabbed by the system and tagged as video. WTF? Is there a hidden limit on the number/size of audio files? How can these files be re-assigned as audio? Fishing round the AppStore to find a player that works seems a doozy way to fix what looks like a system fault...
[Edit] Problem comes from Apple, not Android: iTunes v.12 and later tags file info as "Purchased AAC", previous versions were merely "AAC". There's no DRM 'cos they will play on Android devices that play m4A, just they don't show up in many players' menu. I'm now using RocketPlayer, works for me. I haven't got any CD handy now to rip with iTunes12 to see what it does to that...

Please help..I'm loosing it!!

I thought I fixed this by asking in previous post but obviously not.. NO MATTER HOW I ADD MUSIC to my SD card, Touch Flo Music app gives Audio Manager_eng.exe error!! Hard Reset, Soft Reset, Delete Audiomanager file, editing/resetting registry, using drag and drop, using Media Monkey..ALL no luck.
How and what do you guys do to play music via your SD card on Touch Flo music app...step by step guide most appreciated - what do I delet, what do I name folders etc...Merry Xmas
have you tried syncronising using windows media player? and if the media is on the card, you should be able to select the albums using options in the tf3d media player, if it crashes and you havent done anything that voids your warranty, try HTC support. because if a hard reset doesnt fix the problem its a problem in your rom,
what also possibly could cause it to crash is if you try to play an unsupported media file,
hope to have given you some new information or suggestions!

This is the ssimple answer.
You might want to reinstall Audio manager using a new installation file. Yours could have quite possibly become corrupt. Do a search and find an original CAB on here. I'm sure I saw it on somewhere here. Otherwise...send your phone in for the support guys to take a look. Might be worth a shot.
You were right! Now I realize it does not seem to support m4a files...removed them, still no luck...after 2 hours I found a rogue m4a file in my library...Unbelievable! I thought it would just ignore the file type rather than corrupt all??
Thank you anyway.

Nope this is not correct, all of my music (hundreds of songs) in my SD are in m4a format (AAC encoded within iTunes), they all play perfectly work perfectly, no problem whatsoever, even the artist/song/album info and cover art is working fine from m4a.
Something else is the problem here.
I just wanted to prevent missinformation, the blackstone DOES play m4a (AAC) without any problems (Main Memory or SD doesn't make a difference...)

Well, MOST of my music is in M4A files; I originally converted all my CD collection to M4A for my old Sony Walkman phone because the AAC-type format seemed to give better sound quality for a given file size compared to MP3.
And so far, it's only been one rogue file that has given me problems on the HD, although I noticed that it does tend to mess up the playing order.
Maybe there's something different in the codecs that you are using or something. I seem to recall that I used Nero to encode mine.
I'm confused then..would the fact that I use a Mac be the issue - Itunes purchases - DRM Free ( though I use Bootcamp to do all music transfers etc..).

importing/playing .M4A music files to my Touch HD

Hi Guys...
I'm struggling here, I've surfed the wiki, the FAQs and the web and these seems as though it should be simple but...
I've tried (a) dragging and dropping into the device music folder and (b)importing through syncing with my PC's WMP 11 both with equal success - none to be exact. I can see the name of the file but it won't play.
I've treid some MP3 ring tones and they work OK but I can't listen to those on the tube each morning. Mearly all my music is in iTunes as M4A's which are stated as being compatible and supported - but they don't play.
Any idea's, am I missing CODECs ??? Anyone got an idiot guide for getting music out of iTunes into my HTC ???
Thanx for your help as always...
This one puzzles me.
ALL my music on the HD is in M4A format (because it seems more space-efficient than MP3). It plays no problem with the unbuilt players.
My files weren't from iTunes though. I make them using the Nero codecs on the PC.
m4a from iTunes on touch HD do not work
Hi out there,
I am facing the same problem, I can see my m4a files on the Touch HD but they won't play. After converting them into mp3 it's fine but this is a hassle and the instructions say it can play m4a. Any news on this would be highly appreciated.
The songs are iTunes + and thus DRM free, so this cannot be the problem.
Thanks for sharing any advice,
cheers,

Hey guys,
I had this problem aswell since I copied my iTunes directory to my SD card. I decided to buy some music player software for my phone since I use it alot so.
Now I'm using Pocketplayer and I've had no problem since .

WMP 11 and m4a files
I too am having the same problem. My files are from iTunes and DRM free but they will not play. I believe the problem is that the ROM I have is using WMP 10.3 and only has a WMP 11 skin. I have not found a way to 'upgrade' WMP to any other version..

Try to create an AAC-version...
Hey... I had the same problem: My bought, DRM-free iTunes Plus files did not play on my Touch Diamond2 even though all metadata - including coverimages - showed up nicely in the TF3D Mucis app. After a little research in here, I tried to use the "Create AAC version" option in iTunes and PRESTO - all my music was playable again. I suppose this is due to some incompatibility with the wrapper Apple uses around m4a-files.
If you want to keep track of which files are "originals" and which are AAC-converted versions you can create a smart playlist in iTunes and select by type...
core player have no problems playing any m4a files I got both own conveted and itune bought mind you non drm
and even if one got drm files one can convert them to non drm without any problems using itunes now that apple drop'd drm
I use coreplayer to play both m4a and m4b files. Yes I know its not free, but its well worth it IMO.

HTC HD2 music player stop after a few seconds

Hello, my name is Fernando.
First of all, I apologize for my english, but my natural speak is Spanish.
I have a problem with the HTC HD2 music player HD2 since I bougt it 2 weeks ago.
When try to playing a song from any album with the player, I see the spinning circle in the upper left corner.
Please, seek a video of that in YouTube called "HTC HD2 music player stop after a few seconds" (I can't post it 'cause I'm a new user ...)
I assume that is seeking changes and updating the music library. After a few seconds (30 approximately) the music stops and can’t access the library. Even in landscape view, the library is empty (see video on the end part).
I searched help into this site and various others forums on the Internet, and I found many people with the same problema, but no effective solution.
The files are stored in “Storage Card \ Music \ Artist \ Album” folder structure, and they are called “01 - TrackName_AlbumName_ArtistName.mp3” structure.
My phone has the following software characteristics:
(Please see pic attached)
I have made many unsuccessful trials to solve this mistake, I will try to list all of them:
• Updating or changing ROM versions to 6.5.3 , 6.5.5 and 6.5 (actually running 1.66.405.2 (76641) WWE version from laurentius26, that is excelent by the way)
• Update Manila version
• Update Radio version
• Format memory card (8 GB) with the PC in Disk Storage mode.
• Format memory card (8 GB) since the included HTC HD2 Format SD Card app.
• Conversion of all audio files to MP3 format 192 Kb / s (no WMA files)
• Tag all files to ID3v2.4 UTF-8
• Put a file called folder.jpg in each audio folder with the correct front album cover disc (all albums are showing it correctly)
• Change the length of the audio MP3 filenames (shortest names for test)
• Change the folder of the files locations (put all in the root folder of the SD Card for test)
• Delete the file located into “Application Data \ HTC \ AudioManager_Eng” and called “AudioManager_Eng.vol” several times to be generated again when start the player for first time.
But nothing Works !!! …the software always stops after a few seconds of use.
At this moment I'm using another software called S2P v0.80 beta to play music, it has the iPhone's style and works very well, but has some mistakes handling the hearphones' HTC remote control, and the audio quality is not as good as Sense version because S2P uses WMP….
Can anyone help me please? I am desperate to fix this ... 'cause I use the phone for music player mainly and is impossible to do it with this problem.
Thanks in advance.
Can you play the media in the windows media player?
If that works then an application you have installed has caused the problem.
For me it was tomtom(the edited version that fixes bluetooth) it broke my HTC media player.
The only way to work out which one is to factory reset the phone so it works.
Then reinstall your apps 1 by 1 till it breaks again.

try refreshing using total commander.. path to the storage card, refresh a few times, soft reset.. generally works
This problem occurs when htc music tab is unable to update album art. Please check wheter there's a read-only file in the directory. Uncheck read-only box and run album art updater, you should of course have a connection to internet. I had the same problem both with my hd and hd2 but after clearing the read-only status of the files, I 'm able to play them as I love to do with my music tab....
this is how i solved it. convert everything to wma.

Yes, media can be played with the WMP. But the problem isn't caused by any installed application. I'm burned the phone with every new ROM listed above, and then inmediatally try the media tab and the problem continue.

Mmmm ... no ... no really, I have got installed SRS wow and Audio Booster and comparing sounds, the HTC Tab has better bass and clarity sound. I'm not using the original HTC hearphones, instead I'm using an AKG ones (don't remember the exact model) and the difference in sound is appreciable !

Yeah !
Now is working ... I'll testing for a few days, because in the past in one opportunity, I don't know how or why, the player works a few days with no problems with the MP3 files library and then stop working suddenly.
Cons: I have all my music library in my main HTPC in MP3 format ...
I will post again in a few days with results.
Thanks !
Well, I was testing for a few of days the HD2 tab player after convert all my library to .wma format, and everything was OK, the stopping music effect was solved.
Thanks to everyone.
same problem
what software did u use to convert all your library to wma?
,
i also have the same problem, and Im just so desperate to find an answer for it...
i think this solution works, but i have no idea how to convert my library to wma
the only that you need to do is to transfer the music to your hd2 only with windows media player via active sync, but first:erase completely the music map in you sd card, make a copy of the sd,format the sd with the phones program(you kan found under windows start>tools)put back all to the sd and make a new music map, ready!!you can start to transfer music!!I have a 16gb sandisk with more than 1600 tracks in mp3 and aac and no problems any more!I speak spanish to so, if you want you can make a private question if you need some help, saludos
I had a similar problem to this where it would stop playing a song after a few seconds then refuse to play anything else. I can't remember the exact program I used, but to fix it I ran an MP3 error checker through my music library, which fixed some corrupt files that were preventing the rest from playing. Has worked fine since I did it about a month ago.

You can use Switch Audio Converter (free on basic mode, but works fine)from http://www.nch.com.au/switch/index.html or dBpoweramp from http://www.dbpoweramp.com/ (15 days trial, but faster than the other).

Hi
I Have the same problem with Manila's Music Player...
but there is a thing and that is that I have changed all my music tags with a specific program (Mp3Tag I think...). the question is do I have to make all tags again if I convert all of my MP3's to WMA?
and I have another problem which is so annoying indeed!!!
if I hadn't have any phone calls since my last soft reset there is no problem but when I make a phone call or answer an incoming call after finishing the call when I lock the screen while listening to a track the music pauses after about 3 seconds!!! and actually it is independent from listening music with sence music tab or Windows Media Player !
both has same problem...
is there any solution???
First, try to convert all your library to WMA format, tags will not be lose. Try downloading Switch Sound File Converter from http://www.nch.com.au/switch/index.html, it is free.
Maybe, this process solve the last problem explained about shutdown music after calls.
Im sorry, converting to WMA just is not a solution, you shouldnt have to, the player can play MP3s, and so it should play them well. Mine has only recently started doing this (latest energy rom) it has never done it before

[Q] Music loaded from PC via USB won't play

As the name suggests, I'm having some issues with audio playback on my new Iconia. I transferred all my music from my HTC Evo, to my PC, then to the Iconia using Acer's downloadable drivers. If I open the folder via a market downloaded file explorer...I have no issues. It is when I try to play the files in absolutely anything else that I get errors. Just FYI, the files are a mix of .mp3 and .wma files. Any thoughts?
Chlballi
Edit: I'm using File Explorer HD, and only the .mp3 files are playing within the explorer...the .wma files prompt for an app and fail
you can use windows media player to sync music
As far as I know, the WMA format isn't supported in Honeycomb natively.
I had the same problem but its was with google music. I tried power amp from the market and all my music plays fine now. And all my files are wma.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.maxmpz.audioplayer.unlock
i ended up doing something similar with MortPlayer--still wish it would've worked with Google Music...I was realling digging the UI of that one. Oh well, at least my music plays now. If anyone ends up with a thought or a workaround for the native Iconia app, keep us posted here. I'd love to see a device where all of the stock software worked as it was intended!
Chlballi
Has anyone tried to sync music to our Acer's using Windows Media Player? If that can be used to send all the music to the device AND be able to use the default app...I'd be in good shape.

Yes. I did mention WMP above.
But I only did sync MP3 files, not WMA files. So I don't know about WMA part. MP3 is recognized and played flawlessly using stock music player.
Another note, if your music info (ID3 Tags) is not in English, make sure you have proper character encoding before syncing. Otherwise, they will be displayed as garbage. I think all ID3 Tags should be converted to UTF8, not sure, just used Foobar2000 to fix all my Japanese-title music.
After exchanging my first Iconia to BB for some other issues, I did as you mentioned with using the tablet as an external mp3 player in WMP and everything worked flawlessly! Thanks I also found a great .apk to be able to mount my NTFS HDDs to the tab without issue. So I'm in great shape now!
Chlballi
I tried an experiment with the music -- after syncing the music to my tablet using WMP, I noticed that it placed all of the files into the music folder within the root sdcard (internal memory) and google music pp worked great. I moved all the files from that folder to a folder created on the external_SD, and the app fails like before. Apparently the Music app that comes with our Iconias cannot see anything outside of its native internal memory

Google Play Music won't find my music

Hello.
For a long time now I haven't been able to listen to any music at all from my phone. This hasn't really bothered me because I rarely use it for music. Now I just discovered this again and I can't let it go, I cannot just leave this. I am irritated, frustrated and it's annoying the hell out of me.
Google Play Music (or any music app) won't find my music! I have put it in different folders and locations but nothing helps. I can't find my downloaded music either through Google Play Music. When it's downloaded the app tells me it's stored locally somewhere and it works offline, so it's on my phone somewhere (I know Play Music stores them in numeric names).
The odd thing is though, if I set a music file as my ringtone, Play Music will find the song under "Unknown artists" and "Unknown Albums". THIS is what irritates me, why can't it just find my Music folder?
I've tried a lot of things;
Formatted my phone and reinstalled it (even stock won't find it)
Cleared Cache and Dalvik
Reinstalled the app(s)
Tried different formats (.ogg, .m4a, .mp3 for example)
Used apps to "Rescan" my internal storage (media finder)
I had this issue on my old Samsung device with CM10. On my N6P I'm currently running PureNexus 6.0.1-20160803-OFFICIAL.
Whoever can help me with this will be my hero, trust me, this is so freaking annoying I'm actually considering buying an iPhone............... Alright, that was a little too extreme, I would never do that. That's just the frustration inside me talking.

I created a folder called Music that is in a location accessible when I plug my phone into the computer. I have my music organized as follows--artist folder/album folder/songs. My songs are all mp3 format, which works on Android. I use a third party music player (Black Player currently, Shuttle Music Player previously).. The music player automatically finds the albums I stored. I don't think Google's Music App works as a music player for your own music. Are you ripping your own music or downloading it or what? Do your music files have meta-tags that allow a music player to identify what the music is?

I've bought my music and ripped it to my computer. All meta-tags are present so that shouldn't be an issue. Like I said, the weird part is, if I add a song as my ringtone Google play music finds it, but I don't want to do that for each and every song I have haha.
That would irritate me too!
It's weird that it has carried over on a clean flash. When you say your formatted the phone, did you also do the data partition? May be obvious, but the folder isn't hidden, is it? So the folder would be ".Music"? Or is there a file in there called ".nomedia"?
What music player are you using? I've had phones from HTC, Samsung, Motorola and Huawei and never experienced this problem. The fact that you had the exact same issue on 2 different phones suggests that you are doing something that is causing the problem, although its hard to see what. Your files aren't DRM protected if you are ripping them yourself. Maybe if you use a good third party music player it will find your music. I would stick to MP3 format on the files since that is compatible with Android. I had some files in Apple's format and had to convert them to MP3.

I've done a total clean format on my phone now, wiped everything including data/partition/storage. I have not done anything to the folder or renamed it. It's stilled called "Music" and there are no .nomedia files inside that specific folder (only in other folders that's not related at all).

What should I try? I tried PowerAmp or what it's called to see if it can locate my files but no success. The files are not DRM protected and I'm sticking to MP3 because like you said, higher probability it will find the files somehow.
I understand I might be the cause of this, and I don't mind it as long as I can understand what I'm doing xD As long as I know what's causing it I can let it go and remain peaceful, but as long as I have no idea what is causing this I will tear my hair off.
For it to persist across clean flashes and two different devices, there must be something in the folder that's buggering it up.
I would delete everything, then try copying some completely unrelated mp3's over to the same location to see if they're visible. If so, you know the problem is with the content. You can then go through this folder by folder until it stops working and you know what the culprit is.

I've done a total clean format on my phone now, wiped everything including data/partition/storage. I have not done anything to the folder or renamed it. It's stilled called "Music" and there are no .nomedia files inside that specific folder (only in other folders that's not related at all).

I would try Black Player or Vanilla Music. Apparently you can use Google's app to play your own music but I'm not familiar with how that works. You do have a dedicated music folder called music, correct? What is the file path to your music folder? And how do you organize your music within that folder? Loose music tracks or folders for your artists and/or albums?

Then it must be the folder itself, as I've mentioned before I have already tried done a complete wipe of my internal storage to get it working but with no success. Can I change the path for android to search for my music?

Alright, so I downloaded BlackPlayer to try it out. It can't find any music files on my device at all. When I try to set a different search path (trying to select which folder the app should check for music) I can't even see my internal storage... This is really starting to worry me if my device might be faulty in some way (highly unlikely though because the device works perfectly fine with gallery and ES File explorer).
Within the Music folder I have it categorized in folders for example; /music/Children of bodom/Are you dead yet/ and then the songs from the album. I have also put some MP3 files directly into the Music folder to make sure the subfolders aren't messing with the apps.
So again, weird that BlackPlayer won't find any files at all and can't even recognize my internal storage. What can make this happen?
Edit: Just hit me, why don't I check the internal storage to see what's being used. In Settings>Storage & USB I can see that 1.08 GB worth of music is being used of my internal storage. When I click on it to see what files I have, I can only check something called "Unknown", inside that tab I have another folder called "Unknown" and inside THAT folder I can see my 3 custom ringtones..... What is going on?
You should check what the permissions are for your music folder. Root Explorer lets you check and change permissions for folders but costs 3.99. ES Explorer used to be good for this function as well but that program is a hot mess now. Do you have some kind of program on your phone that can check and change folder permissions? If Black Player can't find your music folder maybe read permissions aren't set properly for some reason.
I stopped using GPM a while ago. Such a battery hog and missing so many features. I use Sony music now. Has built in equalizer and album art finder. If u want to try it I can post the link

I want to use Google play music, I like the player and like I mentioned, it's not only Google play music that's causing this.

There's a flashable Zip that fixes file permissions on entire internal SD Card. Use the download link after the text, not the highlighted one within the text.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2239421
It might help. It sounds like the permissions on your internal storage might be screwy. I was hoping changing permissions on the single folder might fix it.
use blackplayer ex..... even i had the same issue and now since a year im useing this for music and its AMAZINGGG.......

I tried that but it didn't work... Same issue persist. I've found out though that VLC can recognize my files (through the explorer that belongs to VLC). When I play one of my songs to my car stereo through VLC the display say "fd://34" in the song title... What could this mean? The numbers change depending on the track, one is called fd://34 and the next one might be called fd://53 etc.

Blackplayer doesn't work either and I want to use Google Play Music since I've bought a couple of songs from them. Don't want to switch between different music apps. I also like Google Play Music the most out the majority of apps.

Are you sure your music tracks have proper metainformation? It sounds like VLC can't tell what any of your music is and is using a generic placeholder name. I would open some of your music on your computer with the free program Mp3tag and verify that information shows up in the title/artist/album fields. If the fields are blank then your music isn't tagged properly. You can also right click on a music file and go to the details tab but I prefer the Mp3tag program because if something is wrong it's easy to do the tags for an entire album at once. You didn't do anything unusual with the formatting of your data partition on the phone?

I've checked the metatags and it's all fine. Everything is there.
I thought so as well about the VLC thing. But yet again, with all the metatags there, how come it can't recognize anything? Seems so weird.
No, I don't think I did. I'm using TWRP right now and I do a clean wipe using the options inside that. Before TWRP I used CWM, same issue persisted though. I appreciate your help so much, I'm trying my best here to figure it out but it helps a lot with your ideas! Just like to say that so I don't seem ungrateful
