Do you use a case on your Nexus 6P? - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As the title says. It absolutely ruins the beauty of this device for me.

I use a verus high pro shield (I think) most of the time. But when I am at home I use the phone without a casw

I use a Nillkin nature tpu case, which is clear and ultra thin. It won't do much against drops I presume but it does prevent the aluminium back getting scratched, which is what I use it for. I like it and don't think it ruins the beauty seeing as it's see through and adds virtually no bulk.
Verstuurd vanaf mijn Nexus 6P met Tapatalk

I use rinke fusion just cause I can add a lanyard to it. been like this since HTC one M8

Orzly TGSP and a dbrand skin on back. Purchased the official Google case but got tired of it because it added bulk.

Nope. I'm always very careful with my phones and purchased Nexus Protect in case of emergencies.

I use spigen rugged armor. Its slim and looks great.

I'm using a Supremery cover on long drives so I can stick my phone on the magnetic mount in my car.
Usually I hate covers because they destroy the beauty of a 700€ phone but yesterday I noticed that probably shouldn't have kept the phone in the same pocket as my comb as I now got scratches allover the upper edge. Small but visible.
I'll try to live with that...

Always wrap your thing!

Yes.
Currently on Moko Halo series Hybrid cover and rotate it with Poetic Affinity (courtesy of Poetic) and Adopted TPU from Google play store. I can't stand having a single scratch or scuff mark on my phone or screen.

Supcase Slim Hybrid for me when out, naked at home. What an amazing case, so much protection, so little bulk and a truly unique design.

This is my first smartphone without a case, but I did invest in a glass screen protector. Going strong with no problems for three months now.

Spigen Ultra Hybrid clear case.... I actually dropped my phone the day before it arrived, so it's staying put!
(Luckily no damage from the drop, but my heart skipped a beat when it fell)

I have the supcase unicorn beetle. I like it pretty well. I have ordered a Evolutive labs Crash guard bumper with rhino shield. They have some pretty impressive test videos to check out if you haven't heard of them. Just an outer edge bumper so it still shows off most of the beauty of the n6p.

That might be an advice for at least one more thing in life. ?

Yes, I agree with you it can ruin the design of this phone but I bought a transparent ultra thin hard case and a 9H glass screen protector both for € 3,00 so I won't mind throwing the case away one day although there are already scratches on the case so I'm happy with it for now.

I used the Spigen Neo Hybrid EX the first couple of weeks, but I took it off once my dbrand skin got here. Pretty happy so far

Got the adopted case. Immediatly lost all love for the Nexus. Only using the case when alcohol is involved now.

I also use the Nillkin Nature with the Nillkin tempered glass. Is the thinnest case out there IMO.

Using Adopted Frost for now just to have some protection and still see the Aluminum through it...

I REALLY love how the N4 looks without anything on, so sleek and sexy, but as we all know that back glass panel will break eventually with no case :crying: SO my question is this, what are your guys suggestions on protection without hindering the awesome design. I was thinking bumber case but idk, what do you guys think?
I love showing off the beauty of the N4 so I use a bumper and make sure I'm very careful with it :]

Full transparent plastic(like a screen protector) film would b better, Even iPhone 4s has the same issue, but plastic film solved it very carefully without degrading its beauty

I'm using a front and back screen protector. As well as being very careful of course
Using both bestskinsever full body armor and official bumper. And I think it's the best way to go.

Front and back BSE protector. No bumper, no case. The BSE gives my phone a tackier grip which is what I want.
I suggest a pouch. Protects against scratches, looks classy and the phone will remain in its naked glory ^^
Naked but I'm very careful. My house has carpet through out.

Indeed, the nexus 4 is very beautiful if naked, but it is very possible scrached by the hard objects, so i see many people use the crystal case or leather case to protect them.

Against scratches, film protectors are enough. Against drops ... not so much.
mofi pouch
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Screen protector in front and a crystal clear case behind.
Ive done the same for my past 2 phones and have never had an issue. The only problem I can see is when sticking the nexus in my pocket as its loose in the pocket untill I sit down then it obviously tightens up. so any coins or what not in there will press nicely against the glass.
When the glasses are readily available and cheap enough I ditch the shocksock but for now it stays.
I use:;
BestSkinsEver front and back protector
Diztronic hard case
Shocksock pouch.
The pouch is perfect for going out and about and will absorb some impact as its like the neoprene laptop sleeves.
Gorilla Glass 2 I believe is decent against scratches. At least v1 on my HTC Incredible S was good so I'm hoping v2 is decent too. Still have the stock scratch guards on the front and back. See no reason to remove them. The one on the back has a lip which was coming out because of my finger so I cut off a small portion. Scratches should be taken care of.
For drops, I ordered a soft gel case off Amazon but I couldn't get it due to delivery issues and friend returned to India. Got a refund but am looking at an Amzer case in a few days. I want the bumper people are raving about on xda.. Will ask my UK friend to pick one up soon.
Other than that, super careful with the phone because it is hot.

A best skins ever for the front and back, and an official bumper for the sides is the best you can do.
Currently naked but I haven't taken it out of the house yet. I'll probably end up leaving it naked and just taking extra care of it.
When I think about how often my Galaxy 2 hit the floor, I shudder. Amazingly, for the amount of times it fell it was in an amazing condition - slightly bruised corners but apart from that just perfect. What I did notice, though, was that when it fell the back case popped off, so I imagine the shock it received upon contact had less of an impact than it would otherwise have had, had the back been unmovable - as is the case with the Nexus.
I started with a front and back Zagg invisible shield but opted to add a ringke slim to make the thing less likely to slip out of my hand.

my White Ringke Slim does just the opposite. It feels like it can just slide out of my hand. I think the phone in its naked form has better grip than with the ringke slim case because of the "rubber" feeling around it
My nexus 4 has been naked for a month now and it feels and looks so great. In some ways I have been thinking about using a case after the inevitable dings and scratches. I guess resale condition makes wrapping up a new phone a necessity but it seems like kind of a shame. I may just do things opposite this time and wrap up after u have enjoyed my naked phone for a while. I do have a case on the way for travel and other times when protection seems obvious.
Anyone else think this way or am I crazy?

Naked so far with no problems.
Just reserve one pocket for the Nexus exclusively to avoid coins or keys scratching the glass.
However, given the anemic ring volume the speaker produces, I'm missing calls, so I'll probably have to switch to a holster once a decent one becomes available.

I have the Navy case and while not rubberised, the matte finish is definitely not slippery. I have heard that complaint about the white one else where though.

how to choose between TPU vs Hard case

Hi
My nexus 4 was finally delivered in UK and my friend is bringing it to India for me today
I have no previous experience in using mobile cases (was using a Nokia before :angel ).
I am unable to choose which of these provide better protection in case of a fall ...a TPU one or Hard shell (only Amzer available in India)
http://www.flipkart.com/amzer-95222-tpu-hybrid-case-google-nexus-4-e960/p/itmdfzz7hedkzern
http://www.flipkart.com/amzer-95266-snap-hard-case-lg-nexus-4-e960/p/itmdg5exxhsgzr3y
IMO TPU is soft so it should provide better shock protection ...but then I am a noob :silly:
ask your friend to get a SGP or Ringke rearth case. Personally wud suggest the rearth case tho

thanks but he is flying today so there isnt much time foe him to grab one of these ....my main question was wrt to fall protection ...wgich one is better hard coves or tpu one wich are soft
Tpu is better for falls. But they cover up the sides which in turn messes with the design of the phone screen
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
TPU is better, lined plastic shell with silicone/rubber/tpu cover is even better.
I went screen protector on the back and a bumper, I'm just playing the odds that the phone won't land on something pointy.
I personally use a TPU case because it sucks up more shock in falls than a regular hard case. Hard cases usually look more clean and nicer, but overall for protection I use a case made of TPU material just in case for that fall one day.

Ebay.in has a few transparent/smoked grey TPU cases. They are better looking than the white and black ones.

Anybody using the phone without a case ?

Hello Everybody
I have installed a transparent but not so slim case to my LG G6.
I wanted to know whether this phone be maintained in mint condition without case easily ?
Please let me know your thoughts.
Hi, I Didn't thought about not using a case, currently using voia slim case that came with the unit free that i bought with some local store here in the Philippines. I am not sure if i would use it without a case, it seems fragile to me
The class back necessitates done protection, using Spigen ultra hybrid slim case.

Using Spigen Thin fit case with SF matt finish.
Sent from my LG-H870 using Tapatalk
I use it without any protection ... The problem is the rear glass camera .. it's very very very easy to scratch poor quality
I don't use cases, I hate them. I frankly hate that today phones are presented without cases, companies present how they look nice without case etc. But they are made in a way that you have to use some ugly case anyway (camera bump, slippery back etc.) .
So I am using G6 without case (one of the few phones without camera bump and it is easy to hold) and so far it is ok, but I am afraid about the rear camera glasses of course...
I wasn't using a case, then as I took the phone out of my pocket it slipped and smashed on the floor. Got it repaired and now using a Spigen Thin Fit case on it (this one in fact https://www.amazon.co.uk/Spigen-Coated-Surface-Excellent-Compatible/dp/B01N6T3N9T )
I don't find it gets in the way at all, or adds too much weight to the phone, but as long as manufacturers keep insisting that "premium build" equals "making it out of fragile materials like glass" I'll will be using a case on all phones from now on.
Previously had a G4 and loved that the back was just a removable piece of plastic that would stand up to pretty much everything. I don't understand why phones have moved away from this kind of build over the last few years, and gone to slippy, delicate glass!
i hate cases .. they kill the design
i prefer Skins from Dbrand
I am using the UAG Ash case, still case see the case and gives it protection.

Oooh, some of those are very nice!
I do love the design of the phone, but it's way too slippery for me not to use a case. I went for a Snakehive leather flip case and tempered glass on the screen.
Dbrand skin on the back, and insurance I love the feel of the naked phone.
Thanks to everyone for your participation and thoughts.
I am also considering skins instead of cases, but the problem with the skin is it is getting dirt especially in the edges after some time and they are turning yellowish as well.
The cases are cheap at least what I am using, but skins neither cheap not easy to apply again and again.
The skin I tried previously was Invisible Shield.
My phone colour is blue, so. the case/skin options are again getting limited, only transparent cases/skins are looking good.
Let me know your thoughts.
I use it without a case and got a skin for the back and camera lens. Keeps it from getting scratched to hell. I have dinged up against something while it was in my pocket and chipped the top but other than that nothing major at all. It was my fault those pesky basketball shorts let the pockets swing to much
I don't use case and i can tell lens protection is really really bad.
Ringke air crystal view ! (Y)
I am currently caseless. Sometimes I put a case on my phone but after a while, when I take it out to clean out the dust, I remember how nice it was with no case and leave it out for a few months. I have a thin TPU one which is nice, and a real wood one which looks amazingly good even though it is kind of a brick.
I am not a big fan of skins (had a clear one on an old phone and after a while it yellowed and peeled), but I do like the idea of the real wood ones (not the dbrand ones which are vinyl even if they look like wood). Might try one of those when my wood case breaks (which I'm sure it will).
As for the camera glass scratches - look through the forums here; consensus is that the glass is not scratching but it has a soft coating that scratches. This coating can be polished off and then no more scratches. And it doesn't seem that a case is any protection from whatever (temperature? air pressure?) is causing a few mysterious camera glass shatterings.

i don't use a case on this phone yet. going for a skin whenever i get around to it with my list of things to buy. first time i went longer then a few days without a case. i went without a case since march. I use a holster on my pants or shorts. I am so careful with my phone so it doesn't get scratched or dinged up.
I was gonna go with a skin like Dbrand but I got this really thin case instead. Been extremely happy with it

Maybe $30-40. I bought a cheap clear thin case and glass screen protector. Hated big. Tried a couple other glass protectors and hated them too. Ran it bare for a couple months, but the micro scratches started showing up so bought a $10 skin and love it!

So far I only bought one case for my S8, it's a cheap but trusted Ringke Onyx case. It already saved my S8 when it bounced from my bed to the ceramic floor.
Currently, I'm in the middle of review process for my next case, a few expensive case models that caught my attention are:
- X Doria Defense Lux Case
- UAG Pathfinder
Paid $20 for my Otterbox Defender, wouldn't ever pay much more than that for a case. Love these cases. Had the Commuter on my S4 and it saved it more times than I can count. They got rid of the screen protector parts of the defender for the S8 so it's no where near as bulky as the old models but still seems to protect as well.
About $61 for me which got me a genuine Alcantara case, Dbrand Dragon Skin and a generic screen protector that came with front and back carbon fiber design and does a perfect job. I think that's all I'll ever spend extra on protecting this phone.
Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
I have one case, the spigen tough armour, only cost 14 pounds and it's a pretty sturdy case to protect my s8+, screen protectors have been a right headache urgh
1$ front, back and camera PET skin
I don't want to change the beautiful style of the phone with cases.

McLaren included case durability

I haven't seen any reviews on the included case with T-Mobile's McLaren edition. Waiting on my McLaren to ship, and I was wondering if I should order a heavier duty case for it. I work in fire/EMS and construction, and I also tend to drop my phone a lot. I currently have a a cheap 2 piece Incipio case on my V30, the one with the soft rubber covered with a hard plastic shell, and I've beat the tar out of it. I've even forgotten it on the bumper of one of our trucks (apx. 2.5ft high), and it fell off in an area we'd have been doing about 45mph through. When we found it using Google's "Find My Phone" thing a couple hours later, it had tread marks across the case and the TGSP was totally shattered. However, my V30 still looks brand new inside the case. I suspect I got incredibly lucky with that though, and wouldn't bet on any case to reliably hold up to something like that. So, barring something catastrophic like that event, will the included case stand up to my rough lifestyle, or should I get a more "rugged" case? Also, semi-related, I've ordered one of the Alinsea almost-full-coverage TGSPs from Amazon. Has anyone tried that one with the included case, and if so, do they play nice together?
The quality of the included case is very good. I work in EMS as well but rarely drop my phone. With the way you describe your work day I would probably get a tougher case. I'm sure the included case would withstand normal falls but I doubt it would do well with significant falls. Hope this helps.
The case is nice, but made for show not toughness. And I've read a post where the user claims the metal from the McLaren logo started to come off and punctured his hand. I think it only offers minimal drop protection.
Got my McLaren, and I'll definitely be getting a different case. It's a shame, considering how slick this included one looks. Also, for anyone interested in the Alinsea TGSP, it's a perfect fit with this case if you line it up perfectly. It's almost entirely invisible, have to look closely to realize there's a screen protector at all. Feels like the unprotected screen too. Any recommendations for a rugged case that looks as nice as the included one?
I'm using the stock case until I find something worth buying on Amazon. Id like a good kickstand case that's 360 protected. The wifeproof case on my pixel XL was awesome.
But even with the stock case, I threw a plate behind it on the back, and I have no issues with the magnetic mount in my car.
Correction, the plate is sitting between the phone and case, with just a piece of tape holding it in place, nothing is seen from the outside.

What brand is your magnetic mount? I tried the same thing with mine, but it barely sticks. Looking for something stronger so I don't have to worry about potholes knocking it off.
