Huawei P8 Improve Charging Time / Fast Charger - Huawei P8 Questions & Answers

Hi all,
Does anyone know of any charger with improved charge time for the P8? I was looking at purchasing a quick charger such as the one below in order to improve P8 charging time, but I am aware the device is not Qualcomm quickcharge certified.
Aukey Quick Charge 2.0
Thanks,
Robin

Can a mod please move this to the Huawei P8 forum?

Hi, probably too late to reply to this, but may help others with a similar query.
I was looking for a QC myself recently for my P8, but came across 2 reviews (on Anandtech & Recombu) that said no matter which charger they used, it didn't make any difference.
Also, another review (Notebookcheck) said QC is not supported, so that should be the reason why.

The internal IC stabilizer for battery charging does not support fast charging. From the other side is good because this will conserve battery life...

[Q] Charging

Hey all, haven't been able to find an answer for this. So I'll open a new thread. Now the question. The phone seems to take a long time to charge. Is it possible for me to use my Note 4's quick charger or can anyone recomend a faster charger for this phone? Charging it with Note 4's 2a charger wont damage the battery? Thank you.
I use a 2.1 out and it charges in about an hour and a half
Charging isn't fast and it seems that if the phone gets warm, it draws less power then too - so on a warm day, it can feel like it's taking years.
Would have been nice to have had wireless charging support and/or turbo charging, but alas not.

Doesn't the phone support quick charging? But Huawei haven't bundled the appropriate charger?
Doesn't appear to. I've got a Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 adapter and it doesn't seem any faster, nor say fast charging.
There's a quirk, when the battery shows 100% it actually still keep charging for another 30 minutes. All tests showed that it took 3hours+ to fully charge it. So quick charge my ass.
So just to update, I have tried charging it with note 4's fast charger and it charges the phone from 20 to 100% in about an hour and a half. Which imo isn't that bad. With the included charger, it took me around 2 and a half hours... Huawei really should have included a charger with higher amp, 1 is way to low.

It's sadly very common for phones to ship with poor chargers (1A and even lower), but then again - some phones these days come with NO charging adapter, assuming you'll have a ton of them anyway.
I use a 2.1A 5V charger, but I've tried the faster ones (that can output 9V) and it doesn't speed things up, so while it can charge faster with a better PSU, it won't ever charge as quick as many other flagships. Mind you, has the G4 been given full support yet? Likewise, the Z3 is down as supporting Quick Charge 2.0 on Qualcomm's website, but then turns out to be only some variants. Makes me wonder if the Z3+ supports it in every guise.
Not sure what the reasoning is for devices that could support faster charging not actually allowing it, especially if the manufacturer could profit from selling faster chargers separately.

I read an article about Huawei declining fast-charge for "battery-purposes" so it can have a longer life cycle. But i think Huawei made an exception about the Huawei Honor 7.
I had an Samsung before and never had problems with fast-charging whatsoever.
My P8 was full in about 2 hours with an 2.1 A charger, while my Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 took 1,5 hours.
the screenshoot took from Huawei P8 & P8 Max Launching Event 2015 said that p8 has quick charge at min 21.30 but they didnt talk about that in the event

Here's a quick charger for the Huawei P8 : http://www.amazon.com/Adaptive-Charger-Charging-voltages-charging/dp/9713256832
I did not buy it, but it says it charges at 9V 2.1A

Quick Charge Oreo Update

Hello, i have an aukey usb quick charge 3 charger and now that i have a new xiaomi mi a1 i bought a nillkin usb type c 3.0 quick charge cable.
Even tho i have a charger and a data cable compatible with quick charge, when i charge it says "charging", not fast charging, i don't even sense a notisable decrease of charging time.
So i am doing somethong wrong? It is suppose that with oreo update quick charge is aviable on the mi a1.
tired reply , please search.
The 'fast charging' message was a bug. Congrats. U just waste money
Sad to break it to you, but the phone doesn't support Quick Charge 3.0
Who except pajeet analphabete on Indian blog said it was supposed to get QC?
I've read that one of the Oreo beta builds had quick charging enabled by mistake and Xiaomi removed it later, this is when/where rumors started. No idea if that's true though..
There is a quite big difference between "fast charge" and "quick charge" (by qualcomm). Quick Charge will not be enabled on those phones as qualcomm wants money for each device that uses it. However in oreo we have "fast charge" enabled.... also to have quick charge you'll need charger that has the qualcomm chip in it... and for the fast charge again you'll need charger that supports fast charge(basically that it is more powerful - 34W and up).
And remember it is android one device so it is as close to the aosp as possible and many of the settings are up to google to change (like the cam api 2)
I don't get the fuss around this "fast" charge "enabled" thingy. I'm using a nexus 5x charger since day 0 (back when only displayed "charging") because i've bought it as a replacement for my nexus 5x.
So, the output of the 5x charger has 3A . Now pay attention, the A1 (at least mine and i don't think i got a special edition) was charging with 2A out of the box (nougat) and also after oreo update, period.
Mi a1 does have sd625 which supports fast charging but xiaomi hasnt enabled it cause enabling that will make xiaomi pay some loyalty to snapdragon. So they didn't enable it. NO FAST CHARGING ON MI A1
This thread reminds me of countles indian videos trying to prove redmi phones support fast charging by comparing charging speeds between stock 1A chargers an qc2/3 ones. Good stuff
With custom roms and root, could you re-enable it? Yes.

Redmi note 5 has the icon of fast charging with micro usb, but Mi A1 with usb C does not, lol. My phone Mi A1 charges fully within 1 hour from 1%(would say... 40min) with an aukey QC 3.0 and a blitzwolf amp usb cable.

Don't worry about people bragging ie lying about how their phones charge up faster with quick charge. Or some sort of forced charging is going on which isn't good for the lifespan of the battery. Samsung allows users to turn off fast charging in the settings to reduce excessive heat which says something about fast charging.
So you guys are saying it doesn't support Quick Charge™. But I just downloaded CPU-Z for fun and it read the fact that the MI A1 - My unit at least runs Snapdragon 626 as opposed to what GSMArena says (625) and according to this article it is supposed to support it. I don't have a fast enough charger - Never thought I'd need one since the phone supposedly doesn't support fast charging, but if it runs 626 it might. If I can edit this post I'll add a screenshot from the phone in a moment.
Can't seem to add the screen shot, so here's the link to it:

yes. I'm using a motorola turbo power charger and a magisk module 'force fast charge'. getting ~2000mA.
The phone has the available hardware for fast charging but xiaomi disabled it, it should be coming soon in oreo or pie

Charging speed

To power up, you consume Red Bull. But your phone just needs its adaptive fast charger. Rate this thread to express how quickly the Huawei P20 Lite can charge. A higher rating indicates that it charges extremely fast.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Huawei p20 lite fast charging is very bad only 16% charge is 35min
How can I fix?
Fast Charging is useless
Fast charging is a big joke on Huawei P20 Lite. The charger that comes with the box charges the phone by 30% in one hour. Would anything like changing the adapter work? Please help
You are right, the “quick charge” works as regular charge, I use to switch on “Ultra Battery” to save some time.
Hello.
The original charger which come with the phone really chanrges at 9V.
But the problem is that I have tested this phone with 3 other QC charges (Orico QSE-5U, Tronsmart TS-WC3PC, Tronsmart WC1T) and all of them charge the phone only with 5V 1A.
That is odd.
I get my phone from 20% to 100% in around one hour, like a QC 2.0 should.
Are you using your phone while charging?
Fast charger not provided in the box?

Hi,
Does your charger mention that it is 9V/2A charger? The one which came in the box doesn't. And it is charging way too slow!

That explains it then...the ones included in the box in India (and probably the subcontinent) is only 5V/2A, we'll have to buy the fast charger additionally. I tried motorola's turbocharger but that didn't work.
Will try to find a huawei fast charger and update here.

Sorry but the charger from this phone has an output of either 5V/2A OR 9V/2A.
Lithium batteries have problems with constant current and voltage. So these chargers have different outputs from 10W to 18W.
But still, this doesn't address the problems you're having: why is your phone charging so slow?
Are you charging while using it?

That's what...so here's what's written on the charger provided in the box, verbatim: "OUTPUT:5V=2A". That's all...
So I checked the Huawei website for the charger, and there's this quick charger which says, "OUTPUT:5V=2A OR 9V=2A". This is what is needed. They've probably compromised on the charger here.
Nevertheless, I got a full charge in a little less than 2 hours with the 5V charger (keeping the phone in airplane mode), which I think is decent as it was the first time it was being charged.
I have ordered the Huawei quick charger and will let you guys know if it works!

Hi, I got the quick charger (9V=2A) and now it's charging fast! It says "Fast Charging" so that's how you will know. Getting a full charge in almost about an hour now.
I got it from the official Huawei website (https://store.hihonor.com/in/honor/huawei-quick-charger) This is for India, btw.
Cheers!

It's simple: apparently there are some regions that are recieving an official Huawei charger of only 5V/2A (10W), while other regions (like mine, Europe) are recieving a Huawei charger that goes from between 5V/2A (10W) and 9V/2A (18W). What happens is that the charger you have won't charge your phone as fast as it should.
The solution i recommend is to buy an official charger from Huawei.
for me exactly one hour charges my phone from 15% to 70% using the original QC charger (5V-2A or 9V-2A), is that good or just acceptable ?

Dash Charge Capable Power Bank

Is there any power bank that supports dash charging? I'm using a OnePlus 6T and as it uses 5V-4A i.e. 20w charging, is there any power bank capable of doing that??
Thanks in advance.. ???
Just found this via a quick search: https://www.amazon.com/Sdoutech-10000-Portable-Charge-Oneplus/dp/B078K8TZQ1 no idea if
I personally would just find the highest wattage bank from a reputable manufacturer. I think anker has an 18w with usb c input which would be close enough for me.
Some days ago, I have bought the powerbank mentioned by @tocogi73R.
I tested it for a short time, because I dont need a powerbank very often, so I cannot give that much feedback. But
- Charging the powerbank is very fast
- Charging the OnePlus with that powerbank is very fast
So, as far as I can tell, the OnePlus fast charge seems to work here. However, I cannot give any feedback about long-term use or battery life of the powerbank, yet.
The problem with anker power banks is, that they only support qualcomm quick charge. And chick charge does not work for OnePlus devices, so the charging of a OnePlus device with a qualcomm quick charge powerbank is as slow as every usual powerbank.
However, you have to be clear about the fact that the Sdoutech power bank will charge other phones quite slow, which do not support oneplus fast charge. So, if you ever will buy a phone, which is not by OnePlus, this powerbank will be quite slow. So, the Sdoutech power bank will only be the best solution as long as you use a OnePlus device. But if you do, it seems the best solution.

Wireless charging on Mi MIX 3 5G

Hello guys and owners of 5G variant of Mi MIX 3.
Can owners assure me, that this phone supports wireless charging?
And also, since it has SD 855 which supports quick charge 4+, will it charge faster with 27W charger, while in the box is 18Watts?
I'm planning to buy another wall charger, so why buy 18Watts, when i can buy 27Watts, unless it will not charger faster.
Looking forward for your answers. Thank you!

It seems to only support 18W but I'll try later with a faster charger. Also the 5G variant does not have wireless charging (lots of places online says it does, but my Europe Mi Mix 3 5G doesn't support it and the Xiaomi website doesn't mention it). I assume it's to make space for the bigger battery.
Thank you for your reply. And also, looking forward for your findings about faster charger

I had a look at the fast charger. It appears to be just 18W (With a 50W Anker charger it dosen't charge and faster). I tried to root the phone to look at the wattage the phone was receiving but I installed the wrong recovery and messed up the phone software so I'm not 100% sure about the charging  - I'll probably give it another go tomorrow.
Mi mix 3 5G has no wireless charging
Hello guys,
I own the Mi mix 3 5G and the phone has no wireless charging.
But the wired charging is very fast enough to easily stand in the night with 20% battery life in a day with all function max only stands 12 hours.
Did you manage to get a new 27w charger?
Hey.im using the black shark 2 27w charger with mine and it works very well ......very fast
