Umi Zero no sound - UMi ZERO Questions & Answers

As I am a new member I could not post on the Umi page.
I bought the Zero for my daughter last year. It had problems from the outset with soft keys, reboots and microphone not working. UMI would not refund or replace. OTA updates did not help. It was running Kitkat at the time. Installing Rootjoy and ROM R.50 V4 did work. I got soft keys back by editing the System/Build.prop file adding qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
A few weeks ago the keys disappeared and all sound: notifications, ring, music, Youtube. The headphone jack stopped working. Bluetooth for music does work. The phone rebooted at random.
I installed TWRP recovery and the ROM CM 12.1: no sound or keys.
I flashed individual partitions via Fastboot but could not change System or Recovery. I didn't try erasing first. ADB does not recognise the device.
On the assumption the sound drivers were included on the earlier UMI ROM's I tried ROM's from NeedRom and SPFlash but could not get it to work. Presumably because I had the wrong USB drivers. My pc runs Windows 7.
Back to RootJoy and I installed V3.10: no sound. Then one at a time the OTA updates 3.03 3.05 and 3.06 still no sound.
I then reinstalled the ROM R.50 V4. No sound. I added soft keys by editing Build.prop.
I tried changing the audio settings in Engineering Mode: nothing.
I tried the Soundabout app, ignoring in/out detection for the headset: nothing.
I tried canned air and a pick in the headphone socket: no fluff, no sound from the speaker.
I compared the Build.prop file with a reference I found on the web. They were almost identical apart from the name of the engineer, date and where the name of the device was recorded.
When I used TWRP to wipe and install the Cyanogen mod I used advanced wipe and also erased the internal storage. Was that a mistake?
Does anyone have any ideas, please?

Solved
It was a hardware problem.
I replaced the lower pcb and connector ribbon.

Where do you buy the pcb? In every store is out of stock

[HELP] Samsung S5 [SM-G900M] Sound issues after latest Marshamallow 6.0.1 update

Hi!
After the latest Marshmallow Update 6.0.1 I'm facing some sound related problems. My phone doesn't recognize the headphone/earphones when connected.
During calls, when I plug the conector, the icon of headphone doesn't appear in the upper side and the sound still being release from speakers.
After some google research, several users of several phone brands reported the same issue. I installed SoundAbout app to test and worked fine, except for the calls.
I'm using official stock ROM and tried to several reboots, wipe cache, factory reset and nothing happened.
Could someone please help me?
Thanks and regards!
And the saga continues...
UPDATE:
- Rolled back to firmware 5.0 and the issue continues.
- Forced new update through OTA, issue still happening.
I have a guess that this new firmware update changed the headphone/earphone hardware driver, so even with several actions the problem wasn't fixed.

Thanks for the reply!
I've already done it.
Factory reset; wipe data; wipe cache partition.
I don't know what else I can do...
Any news?
Hey guys... Any news?
Even in safe mode, Android doesnt recognize the earphone/headphone connected...
I downgraded version, updated through OTA... updated all security patches and nothing...
Your hardware is probably broken, you should try replacing connector in the phone,
I've had similar issues. headphones work but the wired remote controls don't and the sound is like its under water. Music is all messed up like it's being really heavily processed. through the speaker it's fine. Calls and music are all the same through headphones. Tried different headphones!
Stock Marshmallow firmware, tried re-flash and factory default.

I tested with different earphones/headphones... and the same problem happened. At first, I thought it could be an hardware problem... but with SoundAbout I could use the phones to listen music... now the problem is only with the mic.
Change the audio connector is not an option, since its too risky opening the board and it will make me lose the "water protection" not talking about the costs...
I'm still thinking it's a software problem, Today I'll try to perform a clean re-flash the marshmallow firmware factory dfault and see what happens...

[ROM] LineageOS 14.1 w/ SonyLOS 7.1 binaries, AOSP Kernel, Viper4Android, Apollo

Hi,
in my spare free time I compiled a new unofficial LineageOS 14.1 ROM on my beloved Phenom II system with ECC RAM and made it available to you for 90 days from
https://www.filefactory.com/file/5fqmz223n9gx/lineage-14.1-20170403-UNOFFICIAL-SonyLOS-kugo.zip
https://www.filefactory.com/file/121p40o8v8gb/lineage-14.1-20170403-UNOFFICIAL-SonyLOS-kugo.zip.md5sum
The ROM can be installed through a recovery like TWRP. I also applied some modifications, in particular:
- the SonyLOS kernel has been replaced with the Sony AOSP version which seemed to be more up to date
- using some 7.1 binaries of Sony AOSP instead of the 7.0 binaries used earlier enabling some more features (?)
- replaced the LineageOS camera with the Simple Camera app
- integrated Total Commander, Apollo music player v2, SELinux permission changer and Viper4Android apps since I need them
Consequently,
- patchlevel now is March 5th, 2017
- the fingerprint sensor now seems to be usable to unlock your device
- the FM radio works (however, you have to manually scan through the stations once because automatically finding the stations initially still does not seem to work completely)
- the selfie camera image no longer will be upside down (seemed to be an issue with the LineageOS camera app, also will work correctly with i.e. Focal if you prefer a sophisticated app instead of Simple Camera)
- I can now use Apollo again as I did on the Z1 compact with CM 12
- the bass boost and equalizer are back with Viper, you just need to invoke the SELinux changer on the rooted device and install the drivers initially through Viper itself
Thanks fly out to Sony AOSP, SonyLOS and the app providers. Feedback is also very welcome.
Regards,
jtk_de
@admin: Could we please move this thread and my previous one to the ROM section ? I'm still not allowed to post something there
Great to see you're still updating your ROM. Don't understand why you upload at filefactory (sloooow download) instead of androidfilehost for example. Will flash your ROM tomorrow.
- should I flash a stock ROM first or does it not matter which version I'm coming from
- what do I need the .md5sum file for?
- gapps are not included, right?
I tried to use androidfilehost but my uploads got interrupted so I had to stick with filefactory for now. You don't need to flash the stock ROM first, just wipe the system, cache etc. partitions in your recovery and flash the .zip.
The md5sum checksum file is there to ensure the ROM integrity and is not needed for the flash, however, TWRP optionally can read it and veryify that the ROM has been correctly downloaded and copied to your phone's storage. Gapps is not included since I use alternative apps, hence it must be installed separately.
Root access is integrated already and can be controlled via the developer settings. The only issue I experienced so far is that the volume cannot be altered yet during phone calls
I don't get viper4android to work. I install the drivers, reboot my device and then viper4android prompts me to install the drivers again. Am I doing something wrong?

You need to enable root first and start the SELinuxModeChanger installed with the ROM and set SELinux to "Permissive". Then the Viper drivers can be installed which can take quite long (a minute or so). If an Android dialog pops up because of this confirm that you would like to wait longer. Then reboot as indicated and enjoy the bass
That worked for me thank you
Hey,
many thanks for that ROM. Unfortunately i end up in a never ending boot animation. If i get in recovery (TWRP) and tell him to reboot, it tells me that no OS is installed. Any hints how this can be solved?
Thanks for any advice!

Hi!
I think there aren't any os on your device, thats wha twrp sad that... because, your systems encrypted. You could remove it. Try to flash again twrp from fastboot, than clear cache ( fastboot format cache ) and userdata ( fastboot format userdata ) from flashtools too. After that boot to twrp, than you could mount system, than flash the whole cm rom again. After that, i think it will boot correctly.

Thanks for the hint. Did what you said, but i cant mount system in recovery. It cant be selected in the list. Any other suggestions? Ok solved it. had to flash stock rom and boot.img before the steps you asked me to try. Thank you!
Thank you for putting this ROM together! There are the following problems on the OmniROM:
1. Incall speaker volume is not controllable
2. Slight incall echo on receiving side
3. Double tap to wake doesn't work
Is this still the case for your Lineage ROM?

2. Didn't notice any echos so far

minimum Brightness
Hey!
i was just wondering if its possible to lower the minimal brightness a bit more. because minimal brightness is quite bright still. Im using this ROM for a few days now. Everything works pretty fine, but the battery life is a bit short for what i was expecting. If i dont use extreme battery saving mode its always around 24 hours. i barely do phone calls and i use it not very intensively... Highest Consumer is standby with 5%, which i think is wierd, isn´t it?
:good: Kudos. Everything seems to work well aside from the Bluetooth Audio cutting out after a few minutes. Overall I am really happy with it - happy enough that it's my daily driver.
Hi!
ROM will be better and better. Thanks.
Battery charging speed a bit slow, and if I'm using a mobil net, it's draining a little fast, plus in the evening, with wifi on, it goes down nearly 5%>. Camera is good. But, im using open cam software from google play. Fingerprint sensor working good, just a little hard to configure it. I'm using substratum theme engine, and i can theme most of the base and google apps. ( Except fingerprint sensor, with themed settings, the fingerprint setup screen cracked... but inthinknits theme problem ) And about bluethooth.. yes, it's dropping the connection after a few secs. But, if you left it, then reconnect automatically and just after that, it goes good. Until you turn it off. I used a sony sbh70 wireless headset with power amp.
And echo sound in calling. I can't hear echo, but other peoples in line, they sad it. They hear onselfs twice.. :/
If you would like it, maybe i can upload a logfile ( with matlog ) about the bluethooth problem.
Anyway, thanks foe thiese rom for our x compact.
It's good to see some other people are using the ROM and testing things that I can't test
According to my own experience battery lifetime is around 2-3 days when surfing via wi-fi, listening to music and calling from time to time. Battery charging with the Sony AC adapter coming with the phone is quite quick compared to the Z1C although the battery capacity is higher.
If I make another build I'll upload it to some faster provider though.
hello all,
give it some news there? Last entry April 2017.....
Hi all, are there some updates? I love Lineage OS
I'm wondering why there isn't an official build for the Xperia X Compact yet ? If I google "kugo lineageos" I get a hit for a stats page:
https://stats.lineageos.org/model/kugo
Which just says the page isn't rendered yet, but obviously someone has been devoting his/her time to the kugo. What could be the hold up? Same goes for the lack of other roms btw. It seems Sony is quite open towards the community but somehow this hasn't resulted in the overwhelming amount of roms I was hoping for ... It's quite underwhelming in fact. Could it be not enough (knowledgable) people own an Xperia X Compact ?

Sony gives us a sliver of what is needed for AOSP to run, camera, bluetooth, wifi, and radio band stuff all has to be manually made to work. The z3 line was the ONLY xperia line to ever get mainstream AOSP support from devs. If you bought your xperia thinking Sony's AOSP program was good you were sadly mistaken.

Can anybody help me

will be that you can support me on something about this device, a while ago I wanted to install a rom lineage 15.1 and had many bugs, one of them was that Dolby stopped audio did not want to open, so I decided to change it to stock again using minimal adb, and all good, I start the cel, but the problem continued, and restart it I get a message like 10 times in a row that says "daxUser stopped" after that, I skip another window where it says the "internal system is damaged and may be unstable to restore the cell phone factory "and I do not know what to do because I have already installed the rom allegedly stock several times and it does not take off in fact does not sound at all, the speaker is dead, I can not make calls, if the resiven but nothing is heard, it no longer connects to wifi, it leaves the few applications without any reason. ect etc, I hope you can support me with that, and if there is any solution it would be great.
Unroot, lock and take it back for repairs? Sorry, not very XDA-style answer.
Edit: are you completely sure that you flashed the right stock ROM for your device?
Try again

Redmi K20 Audio Completely Broken

One day my phone suddenly started crashing upon opening any app and it restart on its own. Then I tried to flash my default ROM (MIUI10 on Android 9) using Mi flash tool from my PC (Note: My phone was on MIUI 12 on Android 10 when it happened).
Now My Phone works normally except its Audio doesn't work (Eg : Apps like Youtube, Music player doesn't work). Later I updated my phone using system updater now It went back to the first case (Restarting abnormally).
After this I gave my phone to an Authorized Service Centre but they couldn't fix it and told me to replace its motherboard (which I feel like its unnecessary). I was told that they tried to install the default ROM.
Later I brought it back and rooted it and installed PixelExperience on Android 11. Now it went back to the second case (Only Audio not working).
I also went through another forum where I saw that Installing Audio Compatibility Patch, Viper4Android, Audio Modification Library (Using Magisk Manager) would solve the issue, but it didn't work either. Upon opening Viper4Android app and checking its status It shows a lot of errors (Which are attached to this thread).
Please Help Me Guys.................
I see you are from India. Recently there was a bug in official MIUI for India, so check if it was resolved. A lot of people were complaining and they removed update

Sound issue after wiping "data" from custom recovery

Hello, I'm having sound quality issue after wiping "data" from my custom recovery (Orange Fox)
So basically i disabled a lot of "system" app so it doesn't run in the background and waste my battery, but I think I might disable something important that make my phone become so laggy and restarted it self to recovery. I read the log and it say “Android Rescue Party trigger! Wipe data and caches and/or clean-flash you ROM!" So I wiped the data and caches and it basically didn't work, after entering the system my phone restarted back to recovery. So I decided to rename the "package-restrictions.xml" to "package-restrictions1.xml" just in case I make things worse. And it's worked, I booted to system. I need to Setup my phone again and lost all my installed app but it's not a big deal since the internal storage data is untouched. I decided to install ViPER4AndroidFX as before and downloaded Fiio music app and take a listen to some track and it's sound odd. The sound it's completely different from the sound before I wiped my "data". Even with the exact same audio settings in viper it's sound way more quiet and less punchy.
I'm thinking to downgrading from the current MiUi 12.5.1 to MiUi 12 so I can adjust the sound from Mi Sound Enhancer since they removed it from MiUi 12.5.1 due to performance issue.
But im worried to brick my phone If I tried to downgrade the MiUi since I don't have a pc to check my device rollback index.
Can anyone give me a suggestion to fix these sound issue? Or maybe you could tell me is it safe to downgrade my device to MiUi 12.
Thank you.
Heres my device info.
Look YouTube "Redmi Note 7 rollback". No problem
