Huawei Honor 4C Index and Troubleshooting Thread - Honor 4C Guides, News, & Discussion

Due to the fact that all guides, rooting threads about the Huawei Honor 4C are scattered all over the XDA and hence are difficult to be searched for when needed, I decided to create an index thread to keep all ROM updates, rooting and unlocking guides in one neat clean thread.
I’ll try my best to keep this thread updated as soon as new information is released from trusted sources or whenever new mods, ROMs, etc. are released.
You can also post your queries here and I'll try my level best to answer them.

Upgrading from Kitkat to Lollipop
Always try to take OTA updates whenever possible as user data isn't wiped. However, if you want to start anew, just use the below listed methods. Backup all important data on internal storage before performing upgrade. Internal Storage will be completely wiped after upgrade. Ensure battery is fully charged or at least 30%. Do not press any button nor attach your phone to charger after the upgrade process is initiated.Normal Upgrade (Upgrade using the Software Updater)
Download the Lollipop Stock ROM according to your region. See Stock and Custom ROMs > Download Links section for download links.
Ensure your SD card has atleast 3.0 GB of free space.
Extract the downloaded *.zip or *.rar and copy the dload folder (with the UPDATE.APP in it) to the root of your SD card. (In some update packages, there might be multiple UPDATE.APP. Hence copy the UPDATE.APP with has the largest file size)
Insert the SD card (if not already) and navigate to Settings > Update > Menu > Local Update > Full Package:UPDATE.APP . Now finally press Install.
Your phone will reboot to recovery. Wait for the progress bar to finish. When it does you phone will switch off. Hold the power button to switch it back on.
First boot might take some time due to app optimization hence be patient.
Forced Upgrade
Download the Lollipop Stock ROM according to your region. See above section for download links.
Insert the SD card (if not already) and Power Off your device.
Now while holding Volume Up and Volume Down buttons, hold the Power button to power on the device and boot straight to Software Upgrade Mode.
Wait for the process bar to finish. Device will automatically reboot after the upgrade has completed successfully.
First boot might take some time due to app optimization.
Downgrading from Lollipop to Kitkat
Method 1
Download your current Lollipop ROM (see the first section for download links) and the Kitkat ROM you want to downgrade to.
From Lollipop Stock ROM: First copy UPDATE.APP located in 0_CUSTOM_PACKAGE\MiddlePackage\dload to dload directory in the root of your SD card.
Use any of the method posted in Stock and Custom ROM > Upgrading from Kitkat to Lollipop section to flash the Middle Package UPDATE.APP. Skip the copying stuff in those sections.
After the flash has completed, delete the existing UPDATE.APP.
From Kitkat Stock ROM: Copy the Main UPDATE.APP (one with the larger size) to the dload directory in the root of your SD card..
Use any of the method posted in Stock and Custom ROM > Upgrading from Kitkat to Lollipop section to flash the Main Kitkat UPDATE.APP. Skip the copying stuff in those sections.
Method 2
This method requires ROOT SU privileges on your device. Also please make a backup before proceeding.
Make a TWRP or CWM backup. If something goes wrong, you must have something to restore from.
Download and install Terminal Emulator from Play Store. Open the app and execute the following commands (grant SU privileges when prompted):
Code:
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
Open your favorite File Manager which supports browsing / partition and obviously Root permissions , and navigate to /system.
Search for build.prop and open it.
Find ro.product.model and change it's value to balong.
Save the file and make sure permissions are set to -rw-r--r--.
Reboot you device, flash Stock Recovery and any Kitkat ROM you want. See Unlocking Bootloader, Rooting and Custom Recoveries > Restore Stock Recovery for flashing Stock Recovery instructions and Stock and Custom ROM > Upgrading from Kitkat to Lollipop for Stock ROM flashing methods and instructions (You have to use the FORCED METHOD to flash).
Flashing Stock ROM in cases of bootloop or otherwise
If you are stuck in a bootloop, device keeps on restarting follow this guide.
Before you follow this guide, perform a FACTORY RESET on your device. If this doesn't work, then continue.
Download the ROM version currently on your device or any newer one. See Stock and Custom ROM > Download Link section for download links.
Ensure that you are on Stock Recovery. If not see Unlocking Bootloader, Rooting and Custom Recovery > Flashing Stock Reovery section to flash Stock Recovery.
Use the Forced Upgrade method in Stock and Custom ROM > Upgrading from Kitkat to Lollipop section to re-flash the Stock ROM.
Flashing Stock ROM when device unable to boot to recovery or update mode
Alright! So your phone is completely messed up and you can't boot to recovery or anything. Well this guide is for you! Resurrect that device!Always use original data cable that came with your device for flashing stuff. It is not necessary but recommended.Installing ADB / Fastboot and Necessary Drivers
Download 15 Seconds ADB and Fastboot Drivers. Visit the official XDA forum for download and installation instructions.
Install Fastboot drivers by downloading and installing Huawei HiSuite via this link.
Flashing the ROM through Fastboot
First download and install Huawei Update Extractor. Visit the official XDA Forum for download, installation instructions and usage.
Extract boot.img, recovery.img and system.img from UPDATE.APP and copy it to any directory on your computer. See Miscellaneous Guides > Extracting Update.APP section for instructions.
Open Command Prompt in the directory where you have extracted the files by holding Shift and Right Mouse Button and finally click Open Command Prompt window here in the context menu.
Completely power off your device.
While holding Volume Down button, connect your device to PC via USB cable to boot to Fastboot Mode.
Execute these commands one at a time using the command prompt.
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot reboot
Now hold Volume Up button and Power button simultaneously. As soon as you see the Honor logo, release the power button. Your device will now boot into recovery.
Perform a Factory Reset through recovery.
Availability of Stock based Custom ROMs and AOSP based Custom ROMs
Unfortunately, light is pretty dim here. There are no Custom ROMs available for this device. However KangVIP Custom Stock Based ROM is available for the Chinese Variants but I couldn't get the links because they want you to register first. Also, because Huawei hasn't published the chipset source code, so no CM or AOSP based ROM has been developed for this device.

ROM Addons and Miscellaneous GuidesXposed Framework on EMUI 3.0 and EMUI 3.1
On Kitkat EMUI 3.0, Xposed works only when Use System Hooks is disabled in Xposed Settings. This means that modules such as Gravity Box, Minminguard won't work! However, modules that don't modify the UI work without problems.
On Lollipop EMUI 3.1, Xposed works flawlessly and great! See my thread here for instructions and details: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/guide-workaround-running-xposed-t3338765
Viper4Android Sound Mod
Unfortunately, Viper4Android is a no go on EMUI 3.0 and EMUI 3.1. There is partial support i.e. the mod will only work when it is running in background and will not work on stock EMUI apps such as Music. Also be sure that after installing, DTS Sound Engine will be disabled (or won't work in most cases)!
L Speed Mod for Android Lollipop EMUI 3.1
This mod works flawlessly and I'm loving it! Visit the XDA thread for all information.
Changing Region
This is some really risky stuff. If anything goes wrong you'll end up with a bricked device. I have personally tested this and have successfully changed my region from Pakistan to Malaysia. Nothing will go wrong if you carefully follow the instructions!Prerequisites
Your device must be rooted.
ES File Explorer installed (no other Root Explorer should be used).
Backup of your stock ROM.
OEM Info File Download Link
Instructions
Dial *#*#2846579#*#* from your device to pop up Engineering Menu. Go to Network Information > Country / Vendor Info. I have listed some of the vendors below:
1. hw/spcseas – Malaysia
2. unicomelectric/cn – China
3. hw/meafnaf – Pakistan
4. mts/by – Belarus
Open ES File Explorer, switch to Root Mode and navigate to /data/. Open custom.bin using ES Note Editor. Clear the Vendor Information text in it and enter the text corresponding to the region you want to switch to. In my case as I switched from Pakistan to Malaysia, I cleared hw/meafnaf and inserted hw/spcseas. Save the file and make sure it's permissions are set to rw-rw-rw
Extract the OEM File Info and copy the oeminfo file of the country you are switching to. Using ES File Explorer, navigate to /dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/ and paste it there. Replace the file currently present. Don't delete it! Now set it's permissions to rwx-rwx-rwx.
Finally reboot your device and enter Engineering Mode to verify Country/Vendor.
Download the latest ROM of the Vendor you switched to and flash it using Forced Flash Method. See Stock and Custom ROM > Upgrading from Kitkat to Lollipop for details.
Extracting Update.APP
This is a simple and straightforward guide! Follow and follow...
We'll start by downloading Huawei Update Extractor. Visit the XDA thread and scroll down for links.
Extract the downloaded file in a safe folder and launch HuaweiUpdateExtracter.exe
Make sure Profile is set to Unknown (worstenbrood).
Switch to Extract tab and locate the Update.APP. (Well you must have downloaded the Stock ROM. No! No problem! See Stock and Custom ROM > Download Links section for links).
Hold down Ctrl Button and select the partitions (such as System, Recovery, Boot, etc.) you wish to extract. Then right click on any one of the selections and click Extract Selected.
Browse for a location where you wish to extract the partitions (or images).
Tada! It's done!

The problem is, Germany is not on the country list during sign up.. So you can't create a phone account using a Germany phone. Huawei has made it an obligation to use a phone account for unlocking.

Alright... Then try this method (it does the same thing as region change does). You must be ROOTED.
1. Open build.prop located in /system/.
2. Change ro.product.model value to Balong.
3. Restart your device.
4. Now flash away any Kitkat ROM of any region.

No manufacturer wants the end user to downgrade to a lower version. You have to be rooted and bootloader unlocked in the first place to downgrade. The middle package is in B330 Lollipop ROM. You may try flashing it but I doubt it will work on B360.

No, you don't need to be rooted. Also this is completely safe. Huawei Recovery won't flash the file it is not compatible so feel completely safe to try it!
I was on B330 Lollipop ROM and I did downgraded mine to Kitkat just for Xposed!

im using b360 lollipop. now i will try to flash the middle package of b330 to downgrade mine to kitkat. im hoping it will work.

@mfbcool If you're challenging my info , Our Phone Support 4G LTE Network!! one thing and 2nd thing, we have Sources for chipset of Our devices but thats are for Arm only not Arm64, so they are less used for us,,, we only need a developer,,, and third and last one, we can never change region as mentioned above and in carbontesla.com, i already read it, but thats not the way!! we needed vendor files which are available only for Pakistani one Rom (B120) and Indian (B390) only,,, not present for chinese or any other region,,, so we cant change region!!

My turn!
1. So my desktop computer supports WiFi cards but it hasn't one installed so it neither can't search Hotspot networks nor can't create one. Same case here! The Kirin 620 SoC has SUPPORT for 4G networks but the radio module required to make it available is not installed ON THE HARDWARE on our 4C (it's installed on P8 lite though) or IS DISABLED ON THE HARDWARE SIDE.
2. There are more things required to build Custom ROM other than kernel sources (which you are of course mentioning about). You need open source drivers for CPU Management, GPU, WiFi, Bluetooth, Dual SIM card, Graphics Stack, Radio Bands support, NFC, etc. Unfortunately, those aren't included or open-sourced in the source. That's why the only custom ROM ever made for Kirin SoC, the Cyannogen Mod 11 for Honor 6 has no support for Bluetooth, NFC, USSD Execution, etc. The developer for that ROM made seriously tons of patches and spent countless weeks to make it happen. That's also the reason why there is no CM (or any AOSP) ROM for even high end Huawei devices such as Mate 7, etc. These devices however do have KangVIP ROM which is Stock Based Chinese mockoff.
3. I did changed my region from Pakistan to Malaysia successfully. If that didn't worked for you, I'll upload flashable zips probably in few days that will automatically change the region for you
I wish you ever had a Motorola phone which will hard brick on downgrade (yup a dead phone RIP). Unfortunately no manufacturer wants the end user to downgrade because of security patches, exploits, etc. You can always try flashing system.img of a lower version together with boot and recovery to see whether your phone has downgraded.
That 'balong' method I posted is actually an exploit or more preferably a cheat. The phone loses it's identity, model and version and thus any version either higher or lower can be flashed. However it does require root.

Great great!! You should know one thing too.... You didnot mention CM12.1 of 4X ?? You know, thats made from our Kernel Sources!! Nd dev made all drivers etc for it.... So just sources enough for it...right...
And i once also changed region to malysia/india, but it got balong build,,, then i flashed vendor file of specified rom,,, it changes to its real build!! Then my region was really changed!! And about 4G,,, our hardware support 4G but software didnot!! See in indian Rom, 3 options 2G,3G,4G available in preferred mode!!

Newbie guide for installing a Custom ROM in SGP312 Sony Xperia Tablet Z

The objective of this post is to explain how to currently install a custom ROM in our device. (for total newbies like me, you can also refer -among others- to my previous post). I give the general procedure which wipes everything in your device, but you can check various precious posts in xda that variate this procedure.
The codename for our device is "pollux_windy", which is the Wifi-only version. The LTE version (I should probably get the LTE!) is "pollux" and I suppose the general procedure (with the corresponding firmwares to your specific device) will work for any Xperia device. You can also get the general idea from this post.
As a general rule of thumb do not forget after/before every firmware flashing to:
Enable developer mode (explained here)
Enable the USB Debugging mode (explained here)
Trust installation from unknown sources (explained here)
Steps.
A. Unlock the bootloader.
You can refer here and then check that it is successfully unlocked with these steps (taken from here ):
Open the Contacts app.
Click the menu button.
Click Settings.
Long press (for about 5 seconds) somewhere in the empty space just above status bar, as indicated by the red frame in the screenshot below, and then release your finger. A button named Enter service code will then appear in the same area (this may take a few tries).
Click Enter service code. A dialler will appear.
Dial *#*#7378423#*#* . Then go to -> "Service Info" -> "Configuration". If there is:
Bootloader unlock allowed - Yes << this means that your Bootloader is Locked
Bootloader Unlocked - Yes << this means that your bootloader is unlocked
B. Flash a firmware in which you will root the device
Download/install FlashTool.
Download and place to the FlashTool's folder "firmwares" the firmware "SGP312_10.5.A.0.230_VMo UK_IE.ftf". More information here . In sort, download and extract http://d-h.st/MrI and http://d-h.st/ULc
Open FlashTool and connect the powered-off device (USB cable) in Flashmode, holding the Volume Down button while you plugin the usb cable. The FlashTool should say that it is connected in Flashmode. Then flash the 10.5.A.0.230 firmware in it.
C. Gain root to the new firmware
Open the device, complete the setup wizard and connect to a wireless network. You do not have to setup the Google Account since you can download every application googling the respective APK files, but Google Play is easier to use.
Get (click λ) the towelroot APK, install it and run it (click "make it rain"). You should have root, which you can check with a Root Cheker like this one.
Download/Install SuperSU APK (this is actively developed, while SuperUser is abandoned at the moment) as described here.
D. Install a Recovery to easily flash new ROMs
NUT has done excellent work with XZDualRecovery.Follow the instructions for installing it in his thread. In short:
Download the installer, run it and follow its instructions.
Select SuperSU and of course grant access to your computer from your tablet (watch the tablet screen).
E. Download a Custom ROM and Google Apps
I had problems with Cyanogenmod (versions 11 and 12) that I cannot explain. I had no GPS and no media sound from the speakers, but I did have "notifications" sound! I could listen to "media" sounds using headphones, though. So I tried the nightly OmniROM which seems very stable and fast at the moment, with no sound problems and also has a working GPS! You can get it directly from their site (the NIGHTLY I downloaded is omni-4.4.4-20150223-pollux_windy-NIGHTLY.zip which runs just fine). Somewhere I read that PacMan ROM - also works perfectly but I have not tested it yet.
I had device recognition problems from the Recoveries ("Status 7 Error") that I think dear NUT will solve promptly. What I did to solve them is
Upack the ROM zip.
Remove the first line (from assert(...); till the column) of META_INF/com/google/android/updater-script and save the file.
repack the ROM to a zip.
Then copy this zip to your external SD card. If you need google apps (you probably do, to use Google Play instead of other applications like Aptoide), you will also need to download and place to your external SD card the corresponding google apps from here - (I found it in this post - which also explains the different gapps versions)
F. Install the Custom ROM
So now that both the ROM and (optionally) gapps are in the device's SD card:
Enter the Recovery while repeatedly pressing Volume Up or Down while the device boots.
Wipe everything (except the external SD card, obviously --- if you delete the zip files by mistake you must begin again from step B. using the FlashTool to flash the *.230* ftf).
Reboot and setup/enjoy your new ROM.
It seemed that with OmniROM I had lost root access so I had to reinstall SuperSU. I did this by downloading the flashable/installable zip - and flashing/installing it through the recovery.
In the end a did a full backup with the TWRP recovery and one with Titanium backup

The objective of this post is to explain how to currently install a custom ROM in our device. (for total newbies like me, you can also refer -among others- to my previous post). I give the general procedure which wipes everything in your device, but you can check various precious posts in xda that variate this procedure.

For installing customs (CM/AOSP/GPe based ROM's), you don't need to install .230 firmware, furthermore you don't need root (except for backup TA procedure), furthermore you don't need XZDualRecovery (cause it works only for Stock and Custom STOCK based rom's - see this post).
So you you only need to flash kernel via fastboot, and then enter recovery (integrated in kernel), and install .zip with custom, SuperSU and Gapps from there.
hello i was following this guide but im stuck on status 7 error, i tried deleting assert but the twrp recovery dont get any answer to "getprop ro.product.device" and it just doesnt proceed...
and Rootk1t i cant find any kernels flashable via fastboot or flashtool can you point one to me? all of the kernels i see are in '.zip's .... i want to have android 6.0 so i think i should have black kernel but how?

Hello guys,
I finally succeeded to have lollipop rom ,this was possible due to developer Inshaalmirza for his rooting, unlocking and flashing recovery tutorial and finally developer Worstenbrood for huawei update extractor tool and tutorial.
Guys if any of you have problems regarding flashing manually or your system saying check version failed you can do the following steps...(note your phone must be unlocked)
1)Download the stock roms(kitkat or lollipop) extract update.app ,now install the huawei update extractor app and extract the update.app as per tutorial explained by Worsternbrood ,you will have every partition with file names.
2)After extracting you will have 2 recoveries ( file named recovery & recovery2) extract recovery.
3) Create a dload folder in SD card and add the appropriate update.app either lollipop or kitkat whichever you have to flash in it.
4)Now factory reset the phone and flash the extracted recovery as per tutorial explained by Inshaalmirza.
5) Now press the volume up ,down and power key together and viola the update.app gets fashed.(Note for kitkat flash kitkat recovery and for lollipop flash lollipop recovery)
Working and tested for versions C636B070 & C636B160.
Request to developer Inshaalmirza to add or make changes if he wishes in the above tutorial and add in OP.
Thankyou

Hi bro, Is there way to enable 4g on chm-u01 model?
For example by editing /data/property/persist.radio.lte_enabled
I tried to change this file from flase to true but after reboot it revert back to false
@ashripat in your post,,,, mention that no need to extract stock recovery using update extractor!! Bcoz the stock recoveries for kitkat and lollipop Roms are already present in my other threads of custom recoveries for kk nd L,,,
Is that working on chc-u01 or not ?
@inshaalmirza
Plz help
I got a new honor 4c (Indian) yesterday. Downloaded the official lollipop from honor site and the installation failed ( was on C636B070 version).
I tried again with the middle_update update package and this time it succeeded.
After that I cannot apply any update or even boot into recovery for factory reset.
Please suggest any workaround as I don't want to root and void my warranty
Thanks
Guys I updated my Honor 4C CHC-U01 to Lollipop 5.1.1. If you want to know how I I'll tell you.
This is the newest verson in China.
@hp5942 bro flash the B390 build rom indian, and then flash the vendor file pkg..... Your build id will become real which is installed!!..

[Solved 100% work] Huawei Mate 7 MT7-TL10 Downgrade to Kitkat 4.4.2 EMU 3.0

Huawei Mate 7 MT7-TL10 Rollback to Kitkat 4.4.2 EMU 3.0
Huawei is well known Chinese manufacturer for his well designed & well performing smartphones.
Mate 7 is one of the most powerful smartphones , but software updates have been always problematic for huawei phones, as you can read on many sites & forums their support is really poor.
After lollipop 5.1.1 upgrade to Mate 7 some users started to experience issues with this model. and find it unstable on mate 7 they wanted to roll back to official kitkat 4.4.2 version of android. but they can't as it was not possible technically.
i also read on some blogs we can't roll back. but while browsing huawei website i came up with the solution. They have official tool to downgrade this phone to your official stock ROM kitkat 4.4.2.
Important:carefully chose between TL10 & TL09 downgrade packs
Procedure
1. You need original stock ROM for your model which you can easily find from official huawei website.
2. Download roll back software from this link http://depositfiles.com/files/mcqxdmk1nn (You can also find it on official huawei site) For MT7-TL09 Single Sim
3. Extract roll back software zip file
4. Brows extracted folder and copy dload folder to your SD card.
5. Insert sd card in mate 7 & go to , Settings->Updater->Menu->Local update
6. Please don't touch phone during update process
7. After update finished phone will turn off. turn it on and check to confirm if current version is MT7-TL10C900B000.
8. Now you are ready to downgrade, Download your kitkat 4.4.2 installation package which match best with your phone from huawei website.
according to huawei installation guide MT7-TL10V100R001B125SP02 is most build version.
9. Repeat to the procedure , copy dload folder from kitkat 4.4.2 firmware file & update same way as you did before by going "Settings->Updater->Menu->Local update"
if everything goes well you will be running kitkat 4.4.2 after this process. i will be happy to assist you if need any help in downgrade process.
Credit for this guide goes to huawei developer who shared this procedure. and ministryofsolutions website and MR Mutahhar Bashir (copied to help)
I currently have KK MT7-TL10V100R001CHNC00B133 will this work for me as well? Seems this version of KK has some bugs in it with themes.
Be careful while trying this. i was on b326 and tried this and failed at 5 or 10 or something, then after reboot it didn't boot. repetitively restarting, rapidly restarting. as soon as u see "huawei powered by android" screen after 2 seconds, it restarts. not ariving to the booting animation. so couldn't boot into recovery, or fastboot. it was hardbricked until after many minutes trying key combinations which no one was effective until one retart it started booting. ithink the effective key combination that made this happen might be Volume DOWN (no power). hold volume down for 5- 10 repetitive restarts (dont remove your finger from volume down).
after restart make sure to allow usb debugging and connect usb to computer and type:
adb devices
if found then type:
adb reboot bootloader
it loaded into bootloader for me. you should have unlocked bootloader. now extract recovery.img from the rom you currently had (for me 326), copy it to platform_tools folder and type:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
if okay then:
fastboot reboot
this fixed for me. and never ever try this downgrade pack again. instead upgrade to marshmallow and the downgrade to 4.4 using this thread:
Huawei Mt7-L09/TL10 Stock firmware, Ota update and Twrp Backup all in one place
Hi all. Now i create topic with firmware for Huawei Ascend Mate7. I download and upload to mega cloud for you. First and Last firmware for Europe & otchers...
forum.xda-developers.com
however i believe i one time downgraded from another thread as most links are now obsolete after 6 years at the top thread.

A few questions to help me clear my confusion ?
4.After flashing it will load you into the Rom = .184 stock rom from raw .184 ?
6.After that, our Full Rom, rename to update and sideload = .184 stock rom
Any particular reason why we would need to sideload stock .184 rom -- when we are in .184 stock before putting FOTA 6.0 to internal ?
is it patched the 2nd .184 ?
@Russiamen did you make modifications in the 'full rom' zip file, or is it the same zip file that we can download from Asus site?
And I have the same doubts that @timbernot 's ones.
There is an newer MM build (V4.21.40.78_20160624_7972). Could I flash it instead the provided FOTA?
do you have a download link for 78?
after this steps the rom will rooted or have to root it?
Thank you for your guide
but raw rom link has not any file for z00a
i found this
https://mega.nz/#!KsAmkYwD!Aci3fETLz0NwdIOqcr1Bf6pAi_MPQkolc15kuM50hAo
Trying to flash raw image didnt worked. Error attached
For Z008-https://yadi.sk/d/Y51bbCIZsVaMf this link not working plz fix this link there showing "nothing found"
The Raw link for Z00A says "nothing found," and the FOTA for the Z00A says it needs a decryption key.
So this guide is to update your bootloader to the marshmallow firmware. So you can install Marshmallow based ROMS?
The reason I'm asking is because i've Unlocked my bootloader and installed the latest version of TWRP 3.02.0 Z00A and I was on android 5.0 on stock ZenUI. I'm getting Error 7 everytime I try to install a ROM. I'm certain i'm installing the correct ROM for the device. I've also wiped the device, cleared the cache, ect. And still nothing. Any suggestions? Thanks for the help.
hello,my zenfone ze551ml might be going to upgrade to mm 6.0, please tell me is it marshmallow stock rom camera better than 5.0? is it 6.0 have setting sd card become internal storage? is it 6.0 have mass big storage not just mtp when connected to pc ?

How to unroot and get locked bootloader again

Hi, I rooted my tablet about 2 months ago - Now I have root and TWRP. Now I need to remove root and put a stock image with locked bootloader.
Do you think I can do it by my own? (for example, with fastboot?)
Many thanks

Hi,
You can achieve this by following methods.
Method 1
Since you have TWRP
you can flash the stock firmware from TWRP and it should lock the bootloader, unroot and then overwrite the twrp with stock recovery.
What you need?
For this method you need the stock firmware zip files and firmware finder app from google store.
Method 2 (risky, not recommended)
Download SRK tools by somboons
From here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66627615&postcount=2
Unzip the file
Open the application
Then on the main screen, you will have plenty of options to type 1, 2, 3, etc..
Just type 000 to enter the command prompt here.
Once you are in that command prompt you can type the adb commands.
to lock the bootloader you need to type
fastboot oem relock xxxxxxx (just check this command. I think
xxxxx is your bootloader unlock code (yes you have to use the unlock code here again)
this will relock the bootloader.
now to unroot
you can just flash stock firmware using dload method.
How?
download the stock firmware
extract the update.app
put this update.app in a dload folder in sdcard.
you have to create this folder on sdcard and name it as dload.
then you can use the code from dialer pad
*#*#2846579#*#*
from there select SDcard upgrade.
It will reboot and flash the stock firmware. You no longer have root. It will also overwrite the twrp recovery with stock recovery.
I would recommend the method 1. It is safe, easy and should complete the desired tasks within no time.
Method 2 has lot of steps and there is risk involved so I cannot recommend this procedure as confidently as the first one.
I have the Huawei Mediapad M3 LTE version and also Huawei Mate 8. There are few similar functions in Huawei devices.
So now the question is where you will find the stock firmware?
You can find the stock firmwares using firmware finder app in google store.
From here -> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teammt.gmanrainy.huaweifirmwarefinder&hl=en
Install the app.
Open the app
It will automatically find the right firmware's by detecting your tablet model.
All links might not work
So check the one that is working and download that firmware - preferably full firmware.
You will get the zip files if there are two or just one.
then you can follow the method 1.
Hope this works out for you. Hope you find this information useful. :good::good::good:
Hi and many thanks for your kind response!! I tried as you adviced, the problem is that now i have a custom rom and this is the reason, I suppose, for which, every firmware i try to flash, it says "this version is not compatible with the one installed". For what you know, is there a way to flash the firmware without it to check the one already installed?

Hi,
Can you give me more details about your tablet ? It will be in settings - > about device
like
tablet version - is it BTV-DL09 or BTV-DW09?
DL09 is the LTE version
W - is the wifi version
which OS are you running currently?
TWRP version ?
How did you try to flash ? When method did you follow?
I don't know if there is a way to check what you are asking. But we can certainly resolve your issue.
When I was flashing and experimenting on my Huawei Mate 8 last week I came across similar errors. That time I had to dload rollback package from SDcard and then I flashed the EMUI4.1 OS to get back to stock. Now I feel that is the case with your tablet too.
Process is same for both devices. But the files used to flash are different (naturally). That is why I am confident that we can try to come up with a solution.
Point to note
to flash stock rom, the following play a key role.
1) bootlocker - locked
2) recovery - stock
3) Rollback package ( this was really file for Huawei Mate 8, but is it important for Huawei Mediapad M3? I will try to find out).
At the moment, you have custom OS and custom recovery.
so best thing to do is flash the Stock ROM zip files from TWRP. I explained why it is better to do it this way.
Were you able to get the stock rom zip files?
Also please answer all the questions in this post so that I can help you better. :good::good::good::good::good:
Hi Sama, below in bold my answers.

Android 6.0, EMUI 4,1, Greatslon mod B030
TWRP version ?
Twrp doesn't start anymore and so did root. This happens since yesterday, after installing the custom rom.
How did you try to flash ? When method did you follow?
I installed firmware finder and tried the following firmwares :
BTV-DL09C233B332, 1273 MB, OTA
BTV-DL09C233B035, 173 MB, OTA
BTV-DL09C233B030, 1801 MB, FULL
and always I get the same response : your firmware version is not compatible - upgrade failed.

I'm not sure that I still have custom recovery, cause I cannot go into it anymore...
Were you able to get the stock rom zip files?
Also please answer all the questions in this post so that I can help you better. :good::good::good::good::good:

ok
so your root doesn't seem to work
you don't know if you have custom recovery
you are using EMUI 4.1
1) do the factor reset from the settings > go to -> Settings -> Advanced settings - > backup & reset - > factory data reset
do this - it should take few minutes
2) then -> developer options - > turn on "oem unlock" and " usb debugging " - on
3) please download the srk tools - I think I gave you the link to that software in my previous posts - > please download - extract keep it ready.
4) open the SRK tools - > type 000 in the place where it asks you to type 1 or 2 or 3 .. - you should get command prompt
5) Now press volume down button and hold .. and then connect your tablet to computer ( you have to enter bootloader mode)
6) now we need to lock the bootloader - so run the adb command ( for this you need to put the tablet in bootloader mode )
fastboot oem relock xxxxxxx or fastboot oem lock xxxxxxx
yes you will need the unlock code and in the above command replace the xxxxxx with your unlock code.
lock your bootloader.
7) it will do factory reset - and then your bootloader is locked.
Now at this point you have bootloader locked and you have normal firmware but since you want to go back to stock rom
I am still not clear about the build number. Can you give me the build number ? its in settings - > about tablet - > mine is BTV-DL09C100B006
Model number you and I have the same version. BTV-DL09. But it is the build number which matters.
I checked the firmware finder - unfortunately it is not giving the full firmware - only ota updates.
so the factory reset in the first step above is very very crucial.
The other safe way to get the firmware is through Hisuite
for this you need Hisuite software - you can either go forward to B009 or if it is giving you that option to switch to earlier version then you can go back. But I highly doubt it will give anything. So just try to go forward with B009 ROM.
try all these steps... see if you can succeed to any extent. In the mean time I will try to search for full firmware and if I do I will update this reply or give a new reply.
My name is Sam Hope this works out for you. Don't worry if this doesn't work then we will think about alternatives. But these are very important steps. Good luck. :good::good::good::good::good:

Update: After going through some of the threads on xda I came across one russian website
http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=780572&st=0#entry54523165
you can check the firmwares. They are all custom firmwares. But I am not sure if the version is compatible. check if your tablet buildnumber is BTV-DL09C100B006 or BTV-DL09C233XXX . that is something you need to be careful.
update2 :- http://hwmt.ru/oth/HWFF/info/view.php
this link contains all stock firmwares - but they are all OTA and not Full package.
I have the US version (I believe it is distinguished as BTV-W09C128Bxxx). Using the firmware finder, it appears the only old firmware available for my build is B001_demo and it's only an OTA. If my goal is restore stock recovery, will downloading this and flashing this do anything? I currently have greatslon's TWRP rooted running stock firmware version BTV-W09C128B002. Thanks!

if you check this Russian site
http://hwmt.ru/oth/HWFF/info/view.php
you will find 8 matches for your model.
unfortunately, all are OTA and not full firmware. OTA is good for updating from lower version to higher version. But for downgrading or returning to stock I am not sure. In my experience, I always used the FULL package.
your current situation
1) you have TWRP
2) Rooted ( so bootloader unlocked)
your options
1) Returning to stock seems to be difficult. Only possible way is Hisuite but it won't recognize your device as your tablet is rooted and bootloader unlocked.
To return to stock
a) you need stock recovery ( you will get this once you flash Stock rom in twrp or through erecovery - download stock rom)
b) bootloader locked (this is possible by adb commands using SRK tools )
c) Stock rom (this is the problem - I couldn't find a single site which is hosting FULL stock rom )
d) rollback package ( If there is one, Huawei had it for Huawei mate 8 but for mediapad m3, does it have? I don't know) - I hope this is not mandatory. We should be able to get the job done using a,b,c . previous points.
From my experience, I found that if you have a, b, c you can go back to stock easily.
I saw another Russian site where they have custom roms. But you have to be careful. Check if the version they put out is compatible with yours. You mentioned that your tablet version is BTV-W09C128Bxxx. It looks they have custom roms for BTV-W09C233xxx Can you flash this firmware on your tablet? that is tricky and can be risky too. If any one has done it, then it would be nice if they can share their experience.

The OTA in the firmware finder is not enough to go back to stock. You can try but I am not hopeful because it is not complete firmware and it might get stuck in between or fail.
For now. you can do factory reset from TWRP. That is the only thing that seems possible. Without stock rom or rollback package, it is very difficult to go back to stock. But if you manage to get stock rom for your device. Then flash it in TWRP. Once it completes you will have stock rom installed on your device.
Hope you find this information useful :good::good::good::good:

Thanks for the reply and the useful information. It seems as though I'm out of luck unless I can find a FULL stock firmware package. However, you did mention that I can use Hisuite? Even though I am unlocked, TWRPed, and rooted, Hisuite still does recognize my device (I think it's because I'm on stock rom). When I click on System Recovery it just says "Your device system is running properly and does not need to be recovered." Is there another method I can go through using Hisuite to restore stock recovery?

That's great news.
Good that your tablet was recognized by Hisuite.
For system recovery to work. You have to press volume down and then connect the tablet.
Did you do it this way? I think you did.
Do you have "update" or "restore" option in Hisuite?
If yes when you click on "update" did you get "switch to earlier version" If it gives that then yes you can try but even then we have to keep fingers crossed until it completes the process successfully.
One more thing you can try is using HiCare. But this is for updating to nougat or for OS early adopters.
All the options are coming down to stock rom. If you have one stock rom. Then you can flash it in TWRP or extract the update.app and dload it using 3 finger rule.
Full stock rom - that is the key here. Is it possible for you to get the stock rom for your device? So far I found only OTA's from those Russian sites or custom roms for different models. It will be great if can find all stock firmware's for all the models. It will help many people. Since my tablet was working very well, I didn't think about rooting at all. Mine is BTV-DL09C100B006.
One last option is Unroot your tablet using Supersu app. And then flash boot.img (it is recovery.img not boot.img) from one of the OTA firmwares. that way you can get back to stock firmware. But this is tricky. You have to be very careful about this. If anything goes wrong here then you won't be able to boot into tablet. That is why I cannot recommend this option.
Sorry I made a mistake in this post. It is recovery.img not boot.img. Please be aware.
You can try - Factory reset - from inside the OS or from TWRP. :good::good::good::good:

1) When you say pressing volume down and connecting the tablet, I'm not quite sure what you mean. Do you mean from power off? Anyways, from a power on state, I tried using the Update process within Hisuite and it downloads the B003 firmware, then boots into recovery (TWRP), attempts to flash it, fails, and then I manually have to hit restart system within TWRP.
2) I downloaded an OTA update.zip and could not find a boot.img.
3) Also, what does factory reset from inside the OS or from TWRP do exactly?
Thanks again!

I am sorry. I should have explained it better.
Pressing volume down and holding it for few seconds and then connecting to computer will take you to bootloader mode.
Then you can do the system recovery.
Yes, if you have stock recovery it will go smoothly. You have BTV-W09C128B002. So you need boot.img of the stock firmware belonging to this OS. then you have to flash that using the below adb command
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
this should get back the stock recovery. Once you have this. You can try the Hisuite again, this time hopefully it should complete the process.
- you have the update.zip - > extract the update.app -> use Huawei update extractor (software in the attachment) -> extract this zip - > run Huawei UpdateExtractor - now open the update.app - > you will be able to see the recovery.img extract it. Flash it using the adb command in SRK tools.
you can download SRK tool from here -> https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66627615&postcount=2
Open this tool - > type 000 where it is giving you an option to type 1, 2, or 3 etc.. you will get command prompt . there you have to type the fastboot command to flash the boot.img.
But once again. Just want you to know this process is risky. Wrong file or if anything goes wrong you won't be able to boot into your device. So please be careful. It is risky. Please do not proceed with these steps. Flashing the stock rom is the right way. Or Hisuite. Those are safe methods. But not this.
Factory reset from inside the OS means - > go to settings - > advanced systems -> backup & reset -> factory data reset
that will do the factory reset on your device.
or
since you have TWRP. you can boot into TWRP - go to wipe - > there you will have factory reset. you can do it that way too.
I apologize for not explaining properly. I am sorry I made a mistake. It is recovery.img not boot.img.
Hope you found this information useful. :good::good::good::good::good:

Yes, I continue to find your information very useful!
I have downloaded the Huawei Extractor and was able to use it to extract boot.img, fastboot.img, and recovery.img. However, this is for B003 and I am currently on B002. B002 does not appear to be available through the links you previously provided (neither OTA nor Full). Using B003 extracted files, what would be the proper sequence of flashing? Should I install the B003 boot.img first, hope that it boots into fastboot, and then flash B003 recovery.img in fastboot mode? How do I even go about installing B003 boot.img? Through SRK tools or adb? Or is this all too risky, and I should not even bother with B003 OTA files while I am still on B002?
Thanks again!
Hi Sam!!
I recovered my huawei unlock code and tried to relock the tablet, after having resetted it to factory (remember I still have custom rom).
After putting the tablet in bootloader mode and typing the following command on sk tools:
fastboot oem relock xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (my unlock code)
I get:
....
FAILED (remote: stat not match)
finished. total time: 0.00 secs
I also tried "fastboot oem lock xxxxx" but it says "command not allowed".
Do you have ideas? I am blocked there...
Thanks!!

Hi,
You can achieve this by following methods.
From here -> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teammt.gmanrainy.huaweifirmwarefinder&hl=en

Yes it is very risky. Please proceed with caution or don't do it at all as these steps are risky and can turn your tablet into brick. I say this because we are not getting the right set of files to test properly. We don't have the rollback package or stock ROM so the situation is precarious. If anything goes wrong, it would only increase your problems. For going back to Stock all you need is Stock Recovery & Stock ROM and unroot.
You are in stock rom but rooted. You just need to flash the right recovery.img file using SRK tools. Please check my previous posts on how to run adb commands using SRK tools. You have to do this in bootloader mode. Fastboot or bootloader mode are one the same. You need only recovery.img and that should be flashed in fastboot or bootloader mode. Check the Russian site http://hwmt.ru/oth/HWFF/info/view.php this has B003 firmware
For the moment it appears like there is only one way forward if nothing else work for you. I hope you have seen the Greatslon ROM files in the other threads. You can download his EMUI 5.0 it looks gr8 and seems to be stable from what I read. He has uploaded all the required files for his ROM. Have a look and see if it interests you.

You and I have same tablet version. I bought my tablet on Amazon.de. Please make a note of your steps and how your tablet responded. Based on that we can see how to move forward. It will be really helpful to know your experience.
To both of you @danibyte27 and @asianpianoman
Please be careful while handling these .img files or any system files. Flashing wrong files or any mistakes or errors during flashing can be detrimental for your tablets. There is huge amount of risk. So please proceed with extreme caution. Do not proceed if you have doubts. Please do not hesitate to ask if you are in doubt.
It appears that Greatslon - Android Nougat ROM seems to be the best way forward. As you have seen FULL Rom is not available anywhere. So that complicates things. Going back to stock ROM seems to be very tricky for now until we get the right Stock ROM and other important files.

Did you put the oem unlocking - ON & usb debugging on ?
1) check the bootloader - take a photo and see if it is showing phone locked or unlocked
hold volume down on your tablet for 3 seconds and then connect to computer
update : Can you check if your unlock code is correct?. it says "stat not matched" please check the unlock code.
risky steps
[[[try fastboot oem unlock xxxxxxx even if it says your phone is unlocked. ]]]
[[[then fastboot oem relock xxxxxxxx]]]
if this doesn't work
then flash the recovery of your current firmware using
use SRK tools - go to command prompt - type the below command ( this recovery.img should be in SRK folder )
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
I would suggest you not to go back to stock. Please try to move forward to greatslon EMUI 5.0 ROM.

Please check this link https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=125388 he has uploaded all the files.
Hi Sam,
I think I'll follow your advice and don't try to install stock image until I find a clean and reliable solution
Could you please link me the address to download Greatslon nougat rom? I can only find 6.0 greatslon rom here:

It appears he didn't upload the EMUI 5 ROM for BTV-DL09C100 in that link.
However, he uploaded EMUI 5.0 on this Russian forum
http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=780572
But those seem to be for C233 and other versions.
So I think it is better to check with him on the other thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/mediapad-m3/development/twrp-greatslon-mod-t3489232 and see if it is ok to install C233 on C100. It is his work so I feel he is in best position to answer this question . :good::good::good::good::good:
Good news!!! Stock ROM link

Hi,
Hope you remember me.
Finally I have some good news for you.
Some wonderful person found the link to download the Stock ROM & Rollback package in another thread.
here is the link
http://consumer.huawei.com/it/support/search/index.htm?keywords=btv-dl09&t=SupportSearch
Go to this link and download the Rollback package and then do the dload method. You will come back to Stock ROM and your bootloader will be locked again. Download both files. Site is in Italian, you can translate it to English. This is the file I was talking about in my previous posts. It was uploaded by Huawei only on March 30th.
This is straight from Huawei so no risk at all and very safe.
They also have the B009 firmware so you can use dload method again and update it to that firmware. After that you can do whatever you want
I hope this is useful for you.
Cheers!

Thank you for this! Been fighting trying to restore my tablet to default settings and apply the latest update. Sitting at B006 right now.

I am glad you found it useful. Please have a look at all my posts in other threads as well. I have explained the steps in detail.
There is Android nougat available too. B006 -> B009 -> B010 - > B301 - > this is the path you need to take to get to nougat if your tablet model is C100BXXX. And all these firmwares starting from B010 are available on firmware finder app.
