Universal ReadBack Extractor for mtk feature watchphones - Other SmartWatches

Update Mar-12/2016: as long as on the market appeared a long line of new types of mtk6260 mtk6261 mtk2502C mtk2502A (etc) watches equipped with strange new PCB or flash_ID parameters, the new release <Readback Extractor mtk 2.0> now has the capacity to identify, to read, check, rebuild firmware and collect and insert in the .cfg files the flash_ID's coded inside the ROM dump for almost all types of mtk watchphones or smartwatches based on RTOS Nucleus
NOTE: being tested already for mtk6260 mtk6261 mtk2502C and mtk2502A
In short - if you intend to install in your smartwatch new firmwares, mods etc, before to initiate any flashing with the Flash Tool app (pushing that goddamn < Download > button) think twice, 'bove all better DO a backup for the original firmware, why so? because it's containing all original drivers hence you'll be able to recover 100% your watch in case of bricking.
How to:
First you have need of a full dump of your ROM. Assuming that you already got a Flash Tool 5.15.16 and drivers, and you were at the point of flashing something (already chose the download agent and scatter file)
preparations:
a. Set options/backup and restore on no action
b. load the download agent (you find this file inside the flash tool folder)
c. load a scatter firmware - for initialization flash tool needs a scatter file (.cfg) - for dz09 you get this one - for any other than mtk6260A get here and get a firmware compatible with your PCB
d. in case you have W10 - go to the start menu and click on power and hold down the shift key while clicking on restart. A screen then comes up and you need to choose troubleshooting and then startup options. It will then reboot and give you a menu. press 7 which is ignore signed drivers and then when windows comes up, you will be able to install the drivers.
for instance let's say you have a DZ09 smartwatch:
1 - press < Readback > in upper menu and so < Add > in the middle menu
2 - click twice on the item appears in the main window, set name as ROM_DZ choose in browser the path and save
3 - set as Physical start address 0x00000000 and as Length 0x01000000 or 0x00800000 or 00400000 (try them in this order) then ok
4 - turn off the watch, press < Readback > in the middle menu wait 2 seconds and connect through USB your watch
5 - wait until the upload is complete (big green ring)
Now second stage:
1 - download the app I've built attached here (Readback Extractor mtk) and unzip it
2 - create a folder where you intend to keep in safe the original firmware and name it for instance DZ09-Orig
3 - do a copy of Readback Extractor mtk 2.0.exe and place it inside the DZ09-Orig folder then click twice on it
4 - press <Load Readback file> and browse after the ROM_DZ file created before with the Flash Tool then open
5 - Wait about a minute while the app will check bit by bit the integrity of your file
6 - If everything went ok and your file is healthy then app will show " health 100% " so you can proceed to the next step
7 - Press <Rebuild Firmware> and wait about one minute (it shows a progress counter)
8 - When appears the message " - ALL DONE!!!" close app and go back in the DZ09-Orig folder, now you'll find there a set of new files which are the original firmware kit ready to be flashed back in your phone anytime you want
9 - Enjoy flashing anything you like without any fear that something bad can happen
Some tricks for writing IMEI in your watch NVRAM:
you connect to usb your watch (turned on this time) and set the com port on the watch screen, go in device manager and check the port number your watch is connected, then you open Tera Term hyperterminal (google for this app), connect it as serial com on watch com port and then give the command:
AT + EGMR = 1, 7, " imei number "
if on screen appears OK then ready, you've changed your imei
AFTERWARDS READ ME story - Anywhere you search, there is no one to tell you explicitly how to extract from your mtk smartwatch the firmware kit
All says a halfmouth: Do a full < Readback > in Flash Tool, you'll do it being confident that from now on you say goodbye to any risk because you have A BACKUP hence you start flashing new firmwares. And the Big Brick is coming , you smile and get back to your < Readback > backup discovering that, sadly, you have a binary bulk at first sight good for nothing. It cannot be so useless, isn't it? after all it contains full dump of your ROM! I was in exactly the same situation, so 'cause I didn't find any answer I've started reverse engineering . . . and it worked, first I did it manually for guys being in the same situation, 've noticed that is a common issue so I had to choose how to help, simpler but dangerous (for you) way, to create a tutorial <how to> or the hard way (hard for me), to develop an app which will do all "cooking" automatically and I choose the second because in manually way there is a quite big "chance" to mess up with your primary bootloader which could get to a real tragedy - no modem - brickest brick you saw in your entire life

Sorry man, couldn't earlier because I have mine either of two weeks or so. . . still a beginner
Look at the bright side, best lessons we learn from our own mistakes, best part is that if you buy the new one from the same seller, you'll have the firmware hence two working watches!

Are there apps in the works to change watch faces without flashing?

Unfortunately, yet, there is no way to get in contact with the watch else than through proprietary mediatek drivers so that the only ways to communicate for now are Flash Tool app and bluetooth modem proprietary commands (the most important of them being secret as well)
To do such a reverse engineering is way way way over my pay grade
Still I'm working for an app which could replace any media in the watch (backgrounds, icons) but through flashing method of course

Thanks for the info...I just think this watch have great potential

Sorry for not knowing, but what about bluetooth app transfer in the Google play store. How can they be used on dz09-?

. . . bluetooth modem AT commands, just I told this before, generally speaking, in this way all bluetooth app are working, in our case they are proprietary and most of them SECRET. For more information please check this link, it is an older tutorial posted by me on that site

I'm almost sure you found these before me, still, here link you have more than 10 versions of dz09 firmwares (others than we checked before)
It looks like they made a firmware for each phone ) very prolific guys when about dz09
Hope this time you catch the right one!

Before we start, make sure you have Java, if not download from here: http://java.com/en/download
I did the touch screen firmware update on my old S5570, i deliberately took battery out during update as i couldnt care less about the phone and wanted a challenge; and sure enough it was dead... But wait... I managed to successfully fix it.... how?
Well
1. Put a custom recovery on your phone (Preferably CWM) - On my samsung you put it into download mode and flash through odin
2. Download ANY custom ROM for your device (.zip format)
3. Open the downloaded zip on your computer, navigate using WinRAR to /system and find the file build.prop, open that file with WordPad, not Notepad but WORDPAD. Find where it says "persist", and there will be a few that start with that, go to the last line and insert:
persist.service.adb.enable=1
persist.service.debuggable=1
persist.sys.usb.config=mtp,adb
This enables USB Debugging by default, I'll explain why you need this later,
Ok save the build.prop and stick it back in the ZIP archive, now download this: https://www.mediafire.com/?omdol91672ieenr
Extract contents to Java directory C:/Program Files (x86)/Java/<Java>/bin (or C:/Program Files/Java/<Java>/bin for 32-bit)
Run cmd and type cd C:/Program Files (x86)/Java/<Java>/bin
(eg "cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin")
Place your modified .zip in the /bin folder and name as "rom.zip"
Run sign_file.bat
There should be a rom_signed.zip file in the /bin directory
Now put your phone in recovery and Mount USB storage, drag your "rom-signed.zip" in the root directory, I imagine you'd know how to flash it, but remember to wipe data and cache before hand
Now here's the fun bit
Reboot phone after ROM is installed, 1st boot may take a while
Plug USB in to your computer and download ADB: http://androidarea51.com/downloads/adb.zip
Extract to C drive, now open CMD and type cd.. and cd.. again, then type adb devices, hopefully your phone's serial should appear, if not you have either not got drivers installed or you have done something wrong
So you see your serial number beside adb devices? Great
Now download this: http://androidscreencast.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/AndroidScreencast/dist/androidscreencast.jnlp
^^ This requires USB Debugging ^^
And run it, press a button on your phone and it should appear on your pc screen, using your mouse run through the setup proccess, once done open dialer and press "*#2663#" and press Update, then after reboot your phone and...
Touchscreen fixed successfully xD
This worked for me anyway, sorry if some of the instructions are hard to follow, it's my first tutorial so sorry, but please reply if you need any help
Hi, I was trying to follow your tutorial but when I try to install the rom "signed" CWM says that there's an error, I already tried with different recoveries and in some cases it says that the MD5 doesn't exist or the file is not signed or that the rom-signed.zip file can't be opened. I'm using CWM 6.0.4.5 and twrp 2.7.1.0. but I can't install the rom.
Try to recopy

Hi. Have you tried to recopy the ROM zip file to your sdcard? This usually happens to me also. Maybe the zip was corrupted while copying it from the PC to your sd card. Try to recopy the ROM.

Hi, sorry for delayed reply, It's morning here.
Unfortunately i think the only option will be to replace your phones digitizer, this will cost around £15-£25 from eBay
Unless you can find a boot.img (kernel) that has the touchscreen firmware then that's your only choice.

At first let's begin with the ROM - download itself. There are different versions of those tablets, so choose wisely
I'll post only the Android 4.2.2 versions of the rooms, if you want, you can update them by yourself with the OTA. It is because at the moment you can root the JB - version more easily. (FRAMAROOT for 4.2.2 Jelly Bean versions only!!)
You have to register on this forum for download - permissions!!

for download click on the green button on the top right side:
1. Drivers
Click to collapse
Now, whyle you are downloading the ROM, lets look at the drivers you'll need.
At first you need Lenovo USB Driver [from this site] version 1.00.11. 9,28mb
Next step youl need some other drivers and tools:
Driver for USB "download mode" [download it, unzip and place it on your desktop.
SP Flash Tool Driver Auto Installer [9,49mb] - works only with Windows ХР SP2, Windows Vista, Windows 7.
for installing unsigned drives on Windows 8, follow the guide below:
Get access to Startup Options: HOWTO - Method 2 is the easiest way for me
Once you are there (After a restart) you have to choose number 7 (Disable driver signature enforcement)
When you install unsigned driver after it, windows is allways asking you this:
- install this driver anyway
2. Install the ROM
Click to collapse
What do you need:
At least 30% of battery
All Driver from above and unzipped driwer for "Download mode"
time
Now let's begin.
Install the USB driver.
Unzip The ROM and put it on your desktop.
Turn off your device and unplug it from USB (if its pluged in).
for Windows 7/Windows Vista/Windows XP: Install the SP Flash Tool Driver Auto Installer from above and jump to step 7.
go to "Device Manager (link for short guide)
now when you are in your device manager it'll be a little bit tricky. When you NOW plug in your device (it have to be turned off), a new "unknown" device will appear. It will be there only for a few seconds, so you habe to be quick. RIGHT-Click on this unknown device and then go to "Update driver" in preferences. Then choose the driver you had downloaded and unzippt on your desktop. Thats it!
Now start the FlashTool.exe, (I think which you'll find in your unzipped ROM in the "Upgrade tool" folder. And plug in your device (micro USB)).
Click on "Scatter loading" (like on the image above). Then go to your ROM (you know, on your desktop) and in folder "target_bin" choose this file: "MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt" (I am nbot shure if its the same name on all ROMs, but it has to be something with "scatter" in its name.
Click on "DA DL ALL WITH Cheksum" (without it, the device wont start after flashing and you have to flash all again) you'll see it on the pictures below:
The "FAC" - file will be propably not checked.
Just choose it in your ROM folder by yourself in target_bin folder:
Click on "Firmware -> Upgrade"
Then you'll see some pink lines loading. When the lines bekame yellow, you can skip the next step.
It can be, that after the pink lines the Flash Tool will stop and nothing will happen then. If it keeps for one minute you have to unplug your device for 30 seconds and than just plug in again. NOTHING ELSE!!!
When the green lines appears, just wait till its finished. You'll see it, when the green circle appears:
Unplug your device and restart. Don't panik, its multilingual and your language will be there (for shure), just click on the rigt chinese words in the first window which appears and scroll up.
After that you can easiely update your tablet to 4.4.2 with the OTA
Happy flashing =)
Easy Root your 4.4.2 KitKat ROM
HOWTO Root your 4.4.2 ROM:
At first you have to know, whats behind all the followigng steps.
It is not that easy to root this device with KitKat (at least at the moment).
At first you have to install an app, which uses a hack and pushs a file in /system.
next you start the installed app (which is in /system now) and with this app (Kinguser) you'll have Root rights
most users dont believe in chinese root apps. So you have to install an another Rootapp, the best is SuperSU (link ist below)
After you allow SuperSU the root rights, you can just uninstall the other two apps and enjoy the happiness of beeing rooted
Click to collapse
Now let's beginn:
1. Just download and install this file: Root_genious_General.apk
2. It will install a small tool, which can root your tablet. And it installs "Kinguser"
. It will ask you, to update your ROOT(1.0.23) to ROOT (1.1.33). It will be in chinese, just chose the right button and allow to update this tool.
3. A circle will appear with "ROOT" in it. "Push" the button and magic will happen (a progress bar) An yellow window will appear, in chinese, but you'll see, if it was a success then you'll see Kinguser installed on your device. (if it don't works for the first time, just try it again)
4. After that you need to reboot your device and download and install "SuperSU" from PlayStore.
5. Install SuperSU and then Kinguser will aks you, if you will allow SuperSU root rights. Chose "Yes" and now you have the rootrights. IF IT DOESN'T you have to reboot your device several times (don't know why, I needed several reboots and then it worked)
NOTE: I don't really know why, but it seems, like Kinguser do not recognize, that it has root permissions at the first time. I had to turn off the permission in Kinguser options, restart and give Kinguser the root permissions again, than restart again. Just play a little arround with whis option of Kinguser. Somehow it will work than. I had to do the game twice, and it worked both times. But really don't know why.
6. After that you need to update your binaries in SuperSU and reboot your device.
7. Then you can uninstall both chinese APPs (Kanguser can just be uninstalled with Titanium Backup) and you are rooted then

I am not really shure, but I think its the step 6, what caused the problem. The drivers have to be installed manually, when you are plug in your device. it's not enough to "put" them somewhere. try to do this step by step, like i tried to translate
You open your device manager, turn your device OFF, plug it then on USB and than watch, when they appears a new device. very quick (you have 1-3 seconds I think), rightclick on it and than go to "Propperties", or "options" (dont really know what there is in your language ). then "Update your drivers" and then choose the drivers manually. I hope it will help.

as far as i know it is always a good idea to take the same build number,as you have. it can brick your device, because it could always be, that there are differences in the hardwre and also the drivers, between the builds.

The buildnumer is B6000, and the only other important thing is the "wifi" at the end. So take just this one:
[ROM] Yoga 8 B6000_A422_000_059_131219_WW_WIFI
All the numbers between, are just patch-versions of your b6000 wifi Tablet

Lumia 1520 Starting work on custom ROM !

Hi Everyone !!
Work on the first custom rom WP8 for Huawei w1 been completed successfully .
Time for something new !
I would like to announce that I start work on Custom ROM for nokia lumia 1520. First attempt at flashing the modified file ffu done successfully .
Unfortunately, in another attempt something went wrong. I switched the phone in Download mode, QPST can repair the phone but I dont have appropriate files (currently). I have Riff Box JTAG but this programator does not support L1520 and i need ATF jtag.
I'll keep you informed about the progress !! :fingers-crossed:
I collect money for the ATF and the new phone, otherwise I can't continue to work. In the future, project will be developed for many other devices with WP8.
Interesting. First of all: Congrats on the succesfull flash,
second of all: I hope you can resurrect your Lumia 1520 how did you get the 1520 to accept the modified rom though? Though Lumias check the signature after the flashing process has completed?
Thanks for congrats
I can ressurect my lumia in 2 ways:
1. I need have repair boot files for QPST
2. I need AFT JTAG
I have methods to cheat the verification process. In the same way I did in Huawei W1. :victory:
These are my priorities:
1. Development and refinement the ability to flash the modified FFU file.
2. Ability to run the phone in mass storage mode
3. Modification software
4. Adapting WP8CRUU for Luma 1520

Getting the boot files might be the trickier method, but you could try what I described in your other post. I guess the ATF Box is your best chance. I'll look through the 1520 update cabs maybe theres something in there that'll help you build the mbn boot image, like on htcs. (which are, for the 8s encrypted, for the 8x not, as far as I know.) If you feel okay with it you can shoot me a message with tips on how you managed to do that, if not, that's not a problem

Are you reading this thread: http://www.coolxap.com/forum-199-1.html ?
I received a lot of information about huawei w1 on this site. When read about it in December 2013.
Actually if the verification bypass works (which, knowing MS's tight security on Nokias, I highly doubt), it just needs to be released as a method, and after that, anyone can make their own custom ROM.
I'd definitely make some changes to the system (clear out some default apps, add some of my own, change the accent colours, allow interop and other caps to any apps, increase custom app limit), but that would break the built-in system updater. So beware modders, DO NOT use official updates when on modded firmware!

Hi,
I have an ATF Box (lordmaxey & me interop unlocked our Lumias with it, do you remember me ) and would like to help you. Feel free to PM me
Another question, did you just modify the .ffu file via Hex Editor? I've tried it myself a long time ago, but it didn't work and I had to repair it with my ATF. Is there a bug in newer Nokia FFU files?

Flashing the custom ROM is not hard, so I would give it a try
Just be sure you don't touch boot partitions, so you will be able to boot into flashmode
On L520, I could simply flash ANY ffu using CareSuite, so flashing works, just need idea, what to change in ROM

How are you able to bypass signature checking though? Funny how on Lumias you can apparently edit the MainOS Partition but cannot touch the Boot ones, and on HTC it's exactly the reverse.
Guys ... the only barrier that separates us from the Custom ROM are 2 files that i need to create and adapt to the device. I mean MPRG8974.mbn ((hex) and msimage8974.mbn . Anyone who has knowledge on this topic, please help !!

Okay, good, Are you sure that your phone will not reject the file when it encounters an error?
How do you think why was invented HSPL ?
For Huawei just enough to crack the flash tool in PC to be able to upload an unsigned app / ffu file. Phone does not validate the data but Huawei is different story. While working on the Custom ROM I used QPST with MPRG ,MSIMAGE, xml's and other files. JTAG also be useful. Without QPST not have been possible creating Custom ROM for Huawei.
Therefore necessary there is start working on the most needed things.

Do you think it is that simple? If yes, where are the custom roms? Where these modified files? Of course there are tools to build files ffu, signing and opening them, but they are not available for "ordinary" people.
Well ... I go learn and explore the dark side of QPST

I have used HxD hex editor to find the partition headers, then used OSFMount to mount them. You can either mount a part of the ffu, or copy the partition to a separate image
As far as I know (my bricked 520 proves it) SoC's built-in ROM checks the first partition's signature using the public key in Q-Fuse, so let's crack RSA and stuff like that. SPL/HSPL was used to load CE, NT on ARM uses UEFI

Unfortunately I have no JTAG box (riff , atf and etc.)
I will look for way you provide and check it .
I have to find someone with JTAG in Mashad,Iran . Is there anyone ?
it is necessary to learn how to create MPRG / MSIMAGE and use QPST Then jtag will not be needed. These files are obtained by reading the data from the memory EMMC in this case VHD would be the best solution.
OK OK your way worked
I could create 3 Partitions from my L920 (RM-821) Rom .
I couldn't access MainOS partition in this ROM .
sounds good to find this working way but need to work on it hours and hours .

Things that might be of interest to a custom ROM developer:
* I've just made big progress in figuring out how capabilities work on the phone. Setting them via custom ROM is definitely one of the easier ways it might be done, if you can create arbitrary registry keys and set arbitrary values in them.
* One particularly valuable thing you could add to a non-Samsung ROM is the RPC driver/service/whatever that lets Samsung's RCPComponent library work. I don't know how hard it would be to hack that in, though. The binaries and the registry keys for the service shouldn't be hard to obtain, but I don't know if there will be problems with signatures or anything. Still, if you can get it working, this would mean that Samsung homebrew, and everything we can do with it (such as write arbitrary places in the registry and move files around as SYSTEM) becomes available on the 1520.
Somewhat relatedly, I find myself in need of a new phone (I think my ATIV S may be unrecoverable, and it wasn't even due to a hack I was doing!) and this piques my interest in getting a 1520...

Also (just an idea) RT certificates could be added. Maybe some(!) RT apps could run on the phones

These apps work now on WP8.1
wp8.1 supports appx and appxbundle formats so we don't have problem with running them on phones .
If you mean running apps like Multimedia 8 on phone I think we will run into resolution problem .
Not going to happen. First of all, the ported desktop apps only work when signature enforcement is off ("jailbroken") even *on RT*; until/unless we get a signature bypass for WP8 that's a complete non-starter.
The other major problem is that all the base libraries for RT are different than for WP. This extends all the way down to the really core stuff like Kernel32.DLL; RT (like normal Windows) has one, but WP8 doesn't (the functions are split into kernelbase.dll and kernel32legacy.dll). Then there's all the code (like support for the normal desktop interface) that WP8 just flat out doesn't have.
I'm not saying it's impossible to get RT code running on WP8... but it's probably easier to port the entire RT OS to the phone (which is *not* easy, but is possible) than it is to get RT software running on WP8 OS.

Ulefone GW01 runs with firmware of No.1 G3

Hi,
I got a Ulefone GW01 watch and i was unhappy that it is not possible to have custom watch faces.
So i flashed my GW01 with a NO.1 G3 firmware and now i can add own watch faces easily by creating the "clock" folder in "mass storage" mode.
Here is what i did:
1. Install Windows 10 MKT VCOM USB Drivers 32 or 64 bit:
tehnotone.com/windows-10-mtk-vcom-usb-drivers-for-32-64-bit-drivers-installation-tutorial
used file: Windows_10_MTK_VCOM_USB_Preloader_Drivers_tehnotone.com.zip
I need to use this driver, as i run WIN10 PRO and the driver included to the flash tool did not worked.
2. Get the latest No.1 G3 firmware:
en.001phone.cn/download-44.html
Download the version depending on your language needs.
I used version B: goo.gl/ixzX0j
filename: R02S-G3_NO1_PLUS_128_T5_L2_G10_B_160304.rar
Extract the archive and check the firmware update docu inside.
There are also drivers included, which did not worked for me on win 10 PRO.
FYI: Ensure not to connect the watch with USB starting the flash tool.
! Ensure that the watch is switched off when you connect it ! (long press button) !
Follow the steps and finally start "download" in the flash tool. Then connect the watch via USB. Otherwise it will not find the watch and you wait forever...
3. Start the watch again and create the folder "clock" in "mass storage" mode on your watch and place your custom watchfaces.
-->done
Some remarks:
Unfornatly I did not backed up the original firmware, so it is lost. I was to lazy to check how to do a backup.
As the NO.1 G3 has a SIM slot, you will get a IMEI error message if you check the quick settings (move finger from top to bottom, not availabe in original firmware). I guess this is not relevant.
I had a bug in the original firmware that the "height" was not stored properly in the Pedometer. This works now with the new firmware.
I only use the "Mediatek SmartDevice" app to connect to the phone.
Everything seems to work fine.
Regards,
Tornator
Yes, height does not work properly on the gw01 firmware. Thanks for sharing
Nice. Beside able to custom watch faces and fix the height issues. Any other new features compare original? Or is G3 firmware much better?
Sent from my SM-G920I using Tapatalk
Hi,
There is a "torchlight" app which only shows a white screen.
See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sma...oming-soon-t3304683/post66665260#post66665260
If you press then the button, the clock is shown as "always on".
Nice. But don't expect a long runtime.
Unfortunatly i broke the glass of my clock, so i cannot play with it anymore, but i guess with "always on" you get max 5 h runtime.

Tornator

In flashtools have program to have the risks in the options according to the image?
Then just press Download and expect to complete the cycle (100%)?
The scatter file is KCT02A_WT_11C_BB.cfg?
You spoke of the possibility of making a backup.
It is possible to Flashtools? I can do it and send you, you just have to give me the steps to do so.
Regards,
Jorge
Hi Jorge,
yes the scatter file is KCT02A_WT_11C_BB.cfg .
I have no idea how to do a backup.
I have also no idea about risks when flashing does not work properly. I guess it is bricked then.
But no risk - no fun.
When you installed the driver before, you now can switch off the watch (log press button) and do NOT connect it yet.
Then press "download", wait a second for the "try to connect" message and then you can connect the watch.
It took 1-2 minutes to see the "green ring" = ok.
FYI: My watch is not working anymore, as i tried to open it and by this the display broke.
I ordered a new one, but this will take some days.
If someone tries to open it, too: There are 4 screws on the back. Remove them and you can open it easily. Do not press !
Inside there are 2 other screws. If you remove them, you can separate the electronic from the watch body.
Good luck,
Tornator

-->done
Everything seems to work fine.

does it matter which flash tool version you use? I saw there are v3 and v5?
Hi Winderic,
Sorry, i'm not an expert. This was my first and only try to flash a smartwatch / phone. For me it worked with the mentioned tools.

Tornator
For the backup topic i found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sma.../readback-extractor-mtk6260-firmware-t3289272
I will try it, once i receive my new watch in some days.
@Tornator
A million thanks for your bravery and sharing it with us.
I've thought of it too, as both GW01 and No1 G3 have the exact same hardware but didnt have the guts to try it.
But seeing your post i did try it and it works!
Now i'm just sitting on photoshop all day designing custom watchfaces.
For anyone interested these are the first
Game of Thrones
The Walking Dead
Mickey Mouse
Available here
Very tempted to do it. Just wondering does the g3 have clock face show steps and batt life? Cause I quite like the one on gw01.

No worries. Just realised the firmware come with flash tool and that's what you guys use. I didn't see any port on watch guess you guys connect thru charging dock? Haven have time to try on pc.
Sent from my SM-G920I using Tapatalk
- you need to use the charging dock to connect with the PC.
- I remember that there were 6 watch faces. Some show steps and battery. One shows additionally the current heart rate (if enabled to run continuously, otherwise the last measure).
- Additional custom watch faces cannot show steps, battery, heartbeat. Only the time with custom clock hands and background.
- I would try to do a backup first. In case you don't like the new watch faces and you want to have the original back.
Regards, Tornator
Managed to flash the watch now to G3. Didnt like the watch face but i didn't do a backup cause i tried to follow the steps but just can't seem to work.
Anyway, beside the watch face, i quite like you can swap down for quick access on the bluetooth and volume. The firmware also fix the height issues.
Hopefully there will be updated firmware coming soon and able to customize the watch face to include steps, heartbeat and battery life...etc
anyone know how do you determine if you can flash the watch to another firmware? I was thinking if there is any other firmware we can flash it. Thanks

I think it is possible, provided the socket is the same MTK2502!
What are you thinking test?
This time I'll try to back up the current firmware!
Hi have a windows 10 enterprise 64bits and I can not install the drivers in any way.
Already'm going with this! Were you able to install the drivers and to recognize the GW01?

managed to flash to No.1 S3 firmware but unable to make selection on the screen, wonder if the S3 have a second button or turn dial to choose hence wont be able to work on GW1. Will try another firmware with MTK2502 but can't seem to find a lot manufacturer like no.1 that put the firmware online. Let me know if you guys find any.
update - flashed back to G3 as i can't set the settings on S3 firmware.
I have made a backup yesterday
I put the link for download here

S999 Smart Watch MTK-6761: Stock Firmware, Unlock Booloader, Root, GSI Roms...

Hello guys, i open this thread as an open discussion about the S999 Smart Watch device which is working great !!
S999 (MTK-6761) maybe branded as:
- Lokmat APPLP Max
- JingTider S999
- BEESCLOVER S999
-...
I was able to get latest SP fLash Tools Firmware from Lokmat Support (V9-regular S999 for all devices) that can also fix imei/device ID...
Here is the link:
4G_H19_S999_EN_V0.9_P_user_20220611
I was able to one-click unlock bootloader using mtk-client (only works for me under Linux, but Windows Version available):
MTK-Client
Also, i played with some GSI ROMS flashed with SP Flash Tools, a lot of them works! But also a lot of them get both of the internal microphone/bluetooth headset activated so this results to an horrible "echo" of my voice during calls. Please someone can fix this?! or give a workaround?
The only rom i found that 100% works (no echo in bluetooth mode, but need to use Firefox for browser video playing) is Corvus OS A12 Official (i'm not an android dev so maybe you guys can found what makes bluetooth headset working with no echo in this rom and not in the others). I don't want to use A12 Rom i would prefer A10 or A11 but with bluetooth working!!!:
GSI ROMS List
Also i tried to port recovery to TWRP with no success, again, maybe you guys can port the recovery to custom one for this device?!
Here is the stock recovery extracted from stock rom above:
S999 Stock Recovery
The Corvus OS Rom is working great on this device, altought you need to pull off the sim card ("OK" button for sim code cannot be reached) on first boot to change DPI size (around 400).
Also after some charge/discharge cycles battery drain seems to be ok (maybe better than stock), but i'm also looking for a good "overlay" file/script to get this device working as best as possible, can someone do that?! (if you need something from stock rom .zip or SP Flash Read Back partitions/files i can provide it...
Hi, i ve also been playing with the same device. Currently running android 10 via crdrom rom. Works pretty okay although i havent tried out sim card functionality.
However i do have an issue, which im thinking could be hardware or MTK decided to do it, so i wanted to ask you of that also happens to you. So basically on all the roms i have tried out including the stock one, auto rotation doesnt work. Although i see accelerometer values using a sensor test app, but there is a orientation sensor from mtk which is always showing 0 and my autorotation just doesn’t work.
Did you experience the same? Also did you manage to find a trick to use heart rate sensor running custom rom?
Little tip: if you want to have the stock watch faces, you can extract these from the stock rom or in the worst case i can send them to you and then install them on your custom rom. They are essentially just live walpapers.
My setup:
-Crdrom android 10
-Using autogyro to manually change rotation to horizontal
-Microsoft launcher for app drawer, looks great in horizontal mode also
-Installed stock watch faces and set lock mode to none so i get the same functionality as on stock

Hello, are there instructions on how to do this? I just got this watch and would like to see what it can really do. Thanks!
EDIT: Just a quick update...I've installed the MTK-Client for Windows. I now only need to understand how to use it to load an image to the smart watch.
Thanks much!

Another update...I have the USB driver, Python, SP Flash Tool and MTK Client all operational now. I just cannot figure out how to get the watch into BROM mode to be able to connect. Android Development Studio actually does recognize when the device is plugged in but none of the apps seem to be able to read the device. Any suggestions?
You can Power Off the Device and start the Application (mtk client or whatever..) and let the Application wait for the Device.
Your Watch must be powered off AND DISCONNECTED FROM PC!!!!
While your Application is waiting for the Device please connect the POWERED OFF Watch to the PC.
This is the same procedure as you are flashing with SP-Flashtool, i asume so.
A Step for Step guide would be very nice and helpfull for "HOW TO UNLOCK THE BOOTLOADER" with MTK-Client.
I do not have one!

I did get it to connect using the method you described and SP-Flashtool. Too uncertain of what to do next to make any changes. It still doesn't connect to MKT-Client.
Hmm,
the owner of this Thred might help!
He did it successfully.
I did it with a different Method long time ago....
It´s CM2MT2 and the Dongle for it.
Yes, i payed for, but i love it because it is just working perfect and very simple too.
A simple description in the attachment, but i don´t know if it will help you!?
On what maschine you are working, Windows or Linux?
If Win you like to check the Drivers for the Watch in the Devicemanager of Windows there don´t has to be anywhere a yellow triangle.
If so a Driver is not correct installed. Until the yellow trinagle persists you have to troubleshoot and solve this first!

I'm on Windows...Yeah, already ran into a bit of troubleshooting with getting the Python modules properly installed before I was able to get the to MTK GUI. I am fairly technical and just haven't done this particular thing before; so, am starting from the beginning. My world is mostly PHP/CSS/SQL with some minor dabbling in other aspects. I've loaded images into ROMs before but on routers and such.
Any help is certainly appreciated...I appreciate the information!

Maybe you should learn more... there is no "image" to "load" via MTK-client...This tool is only to unlock bootloader. Also please try harder to learn by yourself = every commands and instructions are on the github page of mtk-client.
To flash new rom:
- Unlock Bootloader
- Enable USB Debugging in developper options
- Download and install adb/fastboot drivers and program for windows
- In windows terminal type:
adb reboot bootloader
- Then your device will reboot in fastboot mode
- Type:
fastboot erase system
fastboot flash system nameofyourrom.img
fastboot -w
fastboot reboot

If you can try with a live usb linux (ubuntu or something else)
Device powered off i only type:
python mtk e metadata,userdata,md_udc (errors allowed)
and
python mtk da seccfg unlock
then connected my device...= Instant unlocking
I also experiment trouble to get this device up under windows, go Linux

Thank you for so kindly steering me in the right direction.
I clearly need to learn more - hence the questions and statements indicating that I had not done this particular thing before.
That said, I have spent many hours thus far learning and managing to get the Python install to work on Windows without throwing module not found errors.
I had not indicated that I thought the image was to be installed via one app or the other, just that I had the programs set up and was looking for the correct order to do things in.
While they may not need to be "loaded" via the MTK client, the ROMs are still system "images" that get up"loaded"/written into the device's memory.

View attachment 5828415View attachment 5828417Hi These are some of the screenshots,I actually didnt do any modifications, didnt really have time to play that much with it, initially i ve bought it to use while on work, for teams, but still havent used it, it was actually turned off for the last month or so haha
Anyway, I m using Microsoft Launcher, I find it really great since I can use it in horizontal mode, which is the only natural way of using this device since the width is too small and you re anyway gonna be using it while on wrist (for most stuff). I ve set no lock screen and instead use button to lock/unlock which makes it more similar to smartwatch. The big clock you can see is actually one of the clocks from the original image, since I ve figured out the original clock images on the original image are just live wallpapers, so you can actually use it on your custom rom also, however the multi functional clocks work partially, depending on what you click and also any clock image using heart rate monitor will fail.
If you want heart rate monitor I ve also found one app that actually works on this device, but personally I dont really use it. For the above mentioned problem of horizontal rotation, i am using autogyro app which works pretty well.
