Root test - Xperia Z4/Z3+ General

I was looking for a way to Root my Xperia Z3+ and come across this page-http://www.allindiachannel.com/how-to-root-xperia-z3-plus/
Is there anyone that will look at this page and test for me?
Thanks
RJK

Enjoy trying it yourself... and see it fail.
What's described on that site is the way one can root a Z3/Z3 Compact, not Z3+ (aka Z4).

TimeShift video for Xperia Z1 Compact

Hi!
Should I TimeShift video !
Can be solved somehow?
My device: Sony Xperia Z1 Compact (firmware: 14.3.A.0.757)
Bootloader: Locked
Fully factory phone.
Thank you in advance for your help!
You can try this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2667341 or this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2697095
You will need a deodexed firmware but only works @45 fps so IMHO it's not really worth the effort yet.
Alternatively just use the movie editor if you just want to slowdown certain part of the video. Maybe not as good, but way easier to install.

[BOOTANIMATION] Xperia Z3C Bootanimation in LIME [06/11/14]

Hello everybody,
i would share with you my Bootanimationmod. It's based form original Xperia Z3 and i mod it to the Compact (720x1280) and into lime.
Perfect match to the Xperia Z1 Compact lime Version but also a good way to change original color to another.
wish you a nice day

Marshmallow test build

Sony has started rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow test build (almost a clean AOSP build) for the Xperia Z3 and the Z5 series. The rollout is limited for users who have participated in the Concept for Android program and is only available to select European countries.
See also the thread in de Z3 forum post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63381257&postcount=98
I've tried to flash the image to my Phone with the concept installer but it keeps rejecting it with the message "No device ID". I've also tried to flash the default image (5.1.1.) and this is working fine. So I think the program is checking your Device ID based on country...
Is it possible to extract the Android 6.0 Marshmallow from the Concept Installer and flash it with Xperifirm?
I dont find any information this 6.0 should work with z5 series

They only rolled out Android Concept for the Z3 series..
So I'm pretty sure the Z5 series won't just work with the installer
Which is too bad, and I've been tweeting Sony about supporting the Z5 Compact specifically! I really want to have a cleaner version of Android, and even better, 6.0!
I know reading txt might be hard for some because this is just for the z3 line and not the z5 line so before you start a topic i would recomment that you do some research before opening a topic.
Installing it on my Z5c now.. It works for me. (UK)

Ah, failed for me as well, took ages.
The Concept Installer shows a test build available, but is it the Marshmellow update? And yes, I did my research, but there's no official document the concept software doesn't work on the Z5 compact.
This is 5.1.1. dude.
Maybe it coming , but just not yet

with the same argumentation there is also no official document which says the concept doesn't work with iphone. [emoji19]
the concept test is official for z3 and z3 compact. why are you thinking it could work with any other smartphone?

Brilliant and so true haha
The Z5 is correctly detected by the applicication and also flashing the original software is working perfectly (tested) So for me there is no argumentation that the software shouldn't work with a (whitelisted) Z5 Compact.
Yes, only argumentation is that sony does not tell anywhere that it should work. My guess is that if it should work they would mention it.

What do you use for flashing back to original rom?
Flashtool with a firmware taken from Xperifirm

X Compact Oreo : can i root my device without losing the Sony camera app ?

Hello,
My smartphone has no carrier customization.
I recently upgraded my X Compact to Oreo. It's the official Sony update.
I'd like to test Xposed framework. I understood I have to root the device. But I understood that i might lose the Sony camera app, which works better with xperia devices than any other camera app..
Could you tell me if it's possible, without losing the camera quality ? And which are the main steps ?
I ll be able to look for the detail of each steps by myself.
Thanks for your help

You won't lose the camera app, but to root, you need to unlock bl, which wipes ta partition, where certain camera functions are stored, so camera is slightly worse. You can backup that partition to be restored after root, or you can use 'drm fix' which restores the functions that you lost when wiping ta.

Hello,
Thanks for your detailed answer.
I'll check that
If you follow the guide carefully, you won't have any problems. I used this one: https://forum.xda-developers.com/x-compact/how-to/stock-8-0-root-recovery-t3747479

Discord Link expired
Hey @Thomgeek, that Discord link you sent seems to have expired. Any chance you can post a new one (and set it to never expire)? Would like to get onboard as tester/bugreporter, can probably try a bit with the code as well, but no expert in ROM dev right now.
any news?
