LED notification on Droid Turbo 2 - Droid Turbo 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello to all on Xda. I noticed that our Droids ( Turbo 2) has an LED on it's upper left hand corner, just between the front facing flash and the earpiece, where the sensor is at. I noticed that it is an LED notification when I drained my battery fully down to 0% , I plugged in my included turbo charger and behold a green light came on for a second. So is there any way to activate our LED as a notification tool like with older devices. Is there maybe an app that can do that, app not needing root?

No there is no way to have led notifications.

I do. In fact I'm not really a fan of the moto notification. Miss the old one I do, that's why I was asking if we can enable it some how some where in the system without having root access. Maybe one day with the help and power of root we ( me ) might have an LED notification as well. Give the people the right to choice what they want, give us more options.

I'm not saying LED is bad or should not be available. Just saying at first I was like you and missed it but once I got used to Moto notifications I liked it.

LED Color notifications

Is anyone running an app on their slide for changing the led colors when messages, calls, etc comes in( for non-rooted phones) or do you need root for this?
LED Notifications
I have tried many; all have been a epic failure showing only a green light no matter the color selected... And I'm not running root, not yet anyway...
Wonder if it has to be something like the trackball for nexus (trackball alert free) ill test that tomorrow and post back if it works

Wow that really sucks lol

After looking at the LED real close while it was charging I noticed the orange is at the top of the spot and the green is at the bottom. If you look real close while it is lit up you'll notice there 2 LEDs on the chip, so it looks like orange and green are all we'll be able to get

Notification light?

Is the LED below the screen supposed to function as a notification light? I ask because I haven't seen it light up even once for anything. Not when charging, nor when there are new emails, messages, etc. Heck, does it work at all?

I see the notification light blink white when I have a new email from Gmail. Do you have Settings->Display->Pulse notification light enabled?
I guess you should make sure you have email notifications (do you hear sounds?) on as well.
I to have yet to see this notification light. I do have Pulse notifications enabled and yet nothing happens when charging even after the device is turned off and charging. I'm unlocked, rooted, stock, with CWM recovery.
Edit: I also do hear the notifications when receiving emails just not the light notification.

Yes, my pulse notification setting is on. I get the audible tone that I have email but no light ever.

You guys are not alone. There is another thread on this issue. Seems that the LED, for some of us, works sometimes but often does not work at all. There is an app called LED tester (free) that you can use to see what the situation is with your LED. Note that installing Light Flow is not a solution - when the LEDs are not working they will not be working under Light Flow control. So far I haven't been able to spot what triggers the LEDs to start or to stop working. Restarts seems to have no effect. With mine, when they work they work for a day or two then abruptly stop and stay stopped for a day or so.
A number of people seem to be affected by this but there is no indication yet whether this is a software bug (hopefully) or a dodgy hardware batch.
Mines been working since day one... Installed light flow and kept on moving

I've never seen the LED on mine, LED tester does nada! I'm hoping it's software but ultimately not too concerned, not a feature I care too much about.

Where is the light supposed to show up?
My notification light works, alas on both the N10 and the GN it *never* blinks on the first notification it should report after a reboot. From the 2nd time onwards it works as intended.
Didn't even realize this had an led...so guess mines never lit up either

The notification light only blinks when the screen is off and a notification is received...

By default, the notification lights only show up when the screen is off... and the moment you power on and reach your lockscreen, they go off... in my custom ROM, I have an option to enabled the notifications lights when the screen is on as well...

No kidding, I had to go look in the little book to see where the led even was!
I disabled it due to constant pulsing...mine works TOO good.
Looks like mine doesn't work. Even after using light works app. This may push me to exchange this now along with light bleed problem that is pretty visible.

LED notification for charging

Coming from HTC Evo 3D, i've grown to love the LED notification showing red whenever the phone is being charge, and so far the only disappointment with my Nexus device is, that there's no idication from the LED wether the phone is being charged or if it's fully charged. I am simply wondering if it's possible to add that feature with a little application? If someone has done it before, could they please assist me.

Light Flow is great... however is there any way to enable the LED while the phone is OFF and charging? Is that a purely hardware thing or does the kernel or bootloader come into play

Mine is working but for some reason I can't use the default "messages" notification. I have to use the specific one for handcent. It was also causing some issues with my gallery and stock browser.

I didn't realize people are still using this after SIII since we DO have an LED notification light and apps like Light Flow and Light Manager to control them now.... any reason I'm not understanding? Feeling nostalgic or are more of a visual learner preferring to see the icon instead of a flashing light?

For me I like the larger, brighter, moving icon that catches my attention faster than a single LED. To each their own though.

Of course, just wondering! Thanks for your insight :good:
Can you look at the led light and tell whether an incoming message is Gmail or a text? NoLed has icon notification that lets you know what is coming vs just a blinking light.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 2
I can tell the difference. I use Handcent SMS and it allows for custom LED notifcations, also a few roms had custom led color features.

If you had searched for Light Flow or Light Manager, you'd know that those apps are designed specifically to change the notification lights to tell you what app is has a notification.... So.... Yeah, there's that.... Hmmm

Notification LED on Moto X Force?

I know this is not the correct forum, but there's no one for X Force...
Does this phone has an rgb notification LED and could it be controlled with root?
Thanks!

It can be controlled with root, but cannot be used for notifications. If we get a custom kernel, then maybe... for now its just used to indicate when the battery is charging but not charged enough to turn the phone on.

I just did and still nothing. Are we talking about XForce or DT2? Does the battery have to be at certain level? Mine was at 98%.

you need to have the battery at 0%.
If you are rooted there are some commands you can run to light it up. google moto x notification led and you should find it

Its not a notification light. It's charging indicator light. Your battery level must be near 0% if you wanna see it. Or you can use an app from post above yours if you wanna enable it as charging Iight whenever you charge your phone.

Try do discharge your battery to 0%, let it shutdown by itself and then plug the charger. See if that works.

It uses front flash light for notifications. Not very useful for me, but you may like it.

FlashAlert 2 does use front flash. You can choose which flash to use in settings. But its only for incoming calls and sms. And you're right ,it's way too strong.

Unfortunately this "hidden" LED light is in fact only used by the stock OS to show you that the battery needs to be charged when the phone doesn't have enough power to light the screen.
If you ask me a pretty dumb way of using this beautiful LED light... I hope someone writes a custom rom for the dt2 and moto x force that allowed this once we are able to achieve root and bl unlock.. Good luck guys
Hi, any news on this?
