Removal of "Change Keyboard" button from Nav Bar - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone seen an app or mod that removes the change keyboard button from the nav bar when typing?... or moves it to the left side?
No luck with searching but the terms are generic enough that I had so many results, maybe I missed something.

I only have three buttons, and not the extra Keyboard on. Don't remember doing anything to remove it.

Three things:
1. It only shows up when your keyboard is out, in case that's not obvious.
2. Do you have a keyboard installed aside from the stock keyboard?
3. What ROM? I'm on stock.

I never paid attention to that, thanks!

Gravitybox has this option. It's called "Remove IME Switcher" or something like that uncer Navbar options.
I got rid of mine too, since my back button is on the right and I always accidentally hit the keyboard switch button instead.
You'll need xposed framework though.

Go to Settings --> Language and input --> The under "Keyboard and input methods" click on "Current Keyboard" if you look on the right hand side you will see you have more than one language or input method selected just uncheck them until you have just one option. This should solve your problem.

You cannot turn off the stock keyboard, though I suppose I could freeze it via Titanium or something as a last resort.

You can also disable the keyboard and doesn't require root and solves your issue.

You don't need to turn off or disable the stock keyboard. Please review this screencast of what I'm referring to.

You only have the Google keyboard. If you install another, that won't work... But yeah, I guess just disabling/freezing is the solution.

Ipad-like mutlitask gestures on lg optimus one

Today I stumbled upon a cool app called GMD Gesture Control, it basically allows you to define global gestures that can be used anywhere and that can do any kind of action, kinda like the "pinch" gesture found in the ipad that closes the current app. The gestures can be defined with custom directions, actions or number of fingers. So you can for example swipe with two fingers down from the top edge of the screen for the device to go to sleep if you have an unreliable sleep button.
Here's the steps needed to be taken to use this app on lg optimus one:
1- Get the app, you can use the lite version for now which disables itself when the mobile is locked and needs to be re enabled, but it gives you a good idea of how the app works:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...dvb2Rtb29kZHJvaWQuZ2VzdHVyZWNvbnRyb2xkZW1vIl0.
2- Launch the app for the first time, it will show an error that the device is not recognized, here you have to override the default settings to support our mobile, you can do this by tapping the "advanced" tab at the far right, then you will find 2 options at the end of the list, enable both by tapping the "on" button. Then from the "Override multitouch device detection" list choose "touch_mcs6000", then choose from the "override touch events parser detection" list the option "HC_DEFAULT".
3- Restart the service from the main "General" tab, please note that I couldn't get our mobile to support more than 2 fingers gestures, keep that in mind when defining custom gestures or choose "single touch gestures" option in the default gestures tab.
Hope that you all find this useful, this app is extremely fun to use to switch between apps quickly, I use a swipe from the left-right bottom corner to switch between previous/next app. You can really create any kind of creative gesture as you like.
This app is incompatible with your MobiFone LGE LG-P500.
it needs version 3.1 and up
upgrade to ics and install

S-Pen Question

I am liking the S-Pen but I have a few questions....
I get this screen and no matter what I write or enter it never goes anywhere

I can get to this screen and it works really well except for spaces between words are not picked up unless I write out several at a time. If I pause and one word gets entered there is no space put between the next word unless I use the button at the top. Is there a S-Pen shortcut to enter a space?
Scribbled with my S-Pen
Never having a Samsung device is this what I am seeing in my first screenshot?
Also I found if I use the pen and draw a quick down line between the words where I want a space it will pop one in there.
Scribbled with my S-Pen
I found that after turning on "direct pen input" under Settings> Controls >S-Pen, that I was able to start using the keyboard pen pad.
Might want to give that a shot

There's an "Auto spacing" toggle in the Samsung Keyboard settings. Might do the trick?

New firmware, AND4

So i was dinking around on sammobile, saw the latest firmware for the p900, problem is, its only a china firmware, i said.. "What the hell..." and went ahead and installed it on my US p900.
Works like a champ! Its all in english, im not sure if thats because i didnt wipe before i odin'd it. But reguardless, im up and running with it.
I had to change the text prediction to english. Everything i was typing was english, but the prediction suggestions were all chinese. But i just changed that in the keyboard settings.
In the stock browser, if you search from address bar, it returns results from some chinese search engine. It looks like you cant change it. Oh well, i use chrome and opera anyway.
The keyboard has some new features that i really like. Options for clipboard, handwriting, mic.. Etc are right on top, can turn prediction on and off with a toggle above tab..

So the alternate symbols are gone on the new keyboard? I'm not sure if i'd like that. I guess the common ones are there but some basic math symbols and brackets are missing in addition to other punctionation marks. Guess thats what the Sym button will have to be used for (currently don't use it much with the older keyboard).

There is an xposed module to activate long press symbols if you're rooted. Fyi

Thanks, yes fully aware of that but the discussion was on the new keyboard layout being described above so I was asking relative to that discussion. Had he still been using that firmware and the option not be in there to turn it on I was going to suggest next to try xposed and that alt keyboard symbol module.

I know from messing with missing keyboard symbols, both the "language" and handwriting recognition "language" need to be "English US". If one is UK, symbols would disappear. This was reported by many when I posted looking for my symbols. Just fyi. Wonder if that rom had the mag UX that US users didn't get.

Disable Auto Hide Softkeys

I had this app installed that provided the ability to autohide the softkeys, but decided to uninstall it. After rebooting the phone it still has the softkeys autohiding, and I am not sure where to look to disable this function.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmd.hidesoftkeys
I emailed the programmer but haven't heard back as of yet, and wonder if anyone else has an idea where to look to restore softkeys to default.

Did you restore the soft keys before uninstalling the app? That would be my first step. If that does not work, you'll have to reflash your rom.

Those screens in the App Store are no where to be found, not even in the paid version.
So I reflashed:
system.img
boot.img
vendor.img
But the softkeys are still autohiding. Looks like I need a complete wipe to get rid of it. I find it disheartening that the screenshots shown on the Appstore that show a way to disable the app are not actually part of the installed app.

Unfortunately, that's on the developer to maintain and they appear to be unhelpful. Everything should go back to normal after a factory reset. I suggest using a custom rom to auto hide those keys, if you are so inclined.

New phone and I'm missing some keyboard items...

I have a second Note 3 that I just bought so I can switch back and forth as they get clogged with junk. I'll be free to wipe one clean, then start using it while I transfer all my stuff over from the old one.
Anyhow, I am coming from 4.4.2 and upgraded the new one to the latest Jasmin rom. One thing that I don't like is the new Samsung keyboard. Titanium says they are the same version, but the new keyboard doesn't have the little punctuations that show up on a long press of a key. If I want to use an apostrophe, I have to press "Sym", then select the " ' ", then switch back to "abc" to keep typing. I used to be able to just long press on "v", and an apostrophe would pop up. I think I went through every option I can think of, but did I miss something? Can I "enable" an option somewhere?
