Here u go.. it's the full system dump for Straight Talk's.
SM-S920L~ SAMSUNG GALAXY GRAND PRIME~ All 1.71 gb of it.. I have been messing with it here & there reading + studying the methods trying to port a functional custom recovery of whichever type I can.. So far I have manged to unpack the boot.I'm & recovery.img partitions using android kitchen with cygwin.. Been trying this & that copying files from stock ramdisk and using them to replace files from an unpacked custom recovery ramdisk folder... I picked a custom recovery of a similar device to make it easier.. So far each late night attempt has ended with "SEANDROID ENFORCING" & or Odin mode as recovery.. Hopefully by putting this out there I will further development & speed up the process somewhat as the chances of me succeeding in a successful port are looking slim.. If more files are needed Im more than willing to provide whatever & also have no issue with doing the testing if the developer won't have this particular device in hand at the time.. Thank you in advance and good luck...

Change enforcing to permissive

I have been trying to do that with this phone using same techniques that have been successful on my other devices but to no avail.. I've used adb commands, terminal emulator, int.d scripts at boot + several other methods but when I run getenforce I'm still getting enforcing as a result. Can't even get it temporarily permissive.. I have the t-mobile version of this phone as well (SM-G530T) which I had no problem achieving permanent permissive with.. Although during rooting it I used sunshines kernel flash which might be where I acomplished this.. If there's anot her method I'm overlooking please let me kno how to do so

Does Odin Method for CWM Recovery Work on I/O Tab?

Hi folks. I have tried the Odin process three times to try to get CWM functioning on my I/O tab with no luck.
The actual Odin process seems to work fine; however, when I reboot the tab to enter recovery mode; I never get the recovery option. I only have the USB symbol and the downloading option. Also, in the upper left corner, I have:
Fastboot USB download protocol
bootloader version unknown
baseband version %s
serial number:
lock state unlocked
What am i missing? Can the I/O tab use CWM?
Thanks!!
I had the same thing, but when I am trying to root the device it just lock on boot screen. I am not a dummy but something is wrong where several users have diffrent symptoms. I would wait until further development is done. This is still a little shaky.
Odin CWM doesn't work for some reasons ..
Use this post to get rooted
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15735928&postcount=2
Follow the instructions carefully !!
Download CWM and do an Install on CWM (it will install 4.0.0.4)
copy the required files to the root directory /sdcard/ (main directory if you don't know)
-Get the roms from HERE
-Get the su_busybox_misc-sam_tab_10.1-051511 HERE
Flash in the ROM 1st .. the apply the SU update (in RECOVERYMOD BEFORE you reboot)
Data / wipe
THEN REBOOT
I missed that 2nd update zip .. and trust me its a pain to get it rooted after that ..
The same procedure will not work again once you're on TW3.1 rom .. you will need an image of the system files and NVflash now..
BTW if you can do NVflash .. then I can send you the image files for 3.1TW rooted ..

Ha .. I have 3 IO to play with (from friends)..
1st one is rooted out of the box ..
2nd one cannot communicate on FASTBOOT
3rd one does everything nicely (thats the one I had the image extracted with NVFlash)
I'll say it nicely before someone comes to say it rudely, this probably belongs in a general section rather than the development section (that is, until you develop a method to get around the restriction you've found )
Workaround method

Plus I have the images to go with in case you brick yours

If you have fastboot working, then rooting is as simply as 'fastboot boot [cwm recovery filename].img'
I spent a long time getting fastboot to work, but the only fix was to finally download PDANET software to my PC and install it while it was connected to my tab. After that I got fastboot working.
Fastboot made the rooting process 100% easier. You can root any stock ROM with it and not have to reflash to 3.0.1.

Moving to General
I had the same problem with my I/O. I finally got a recovery option. What I did was flash the Euro version of TW located in the development section (which is buggy as ****).. After that I Installed CWM and flashed pershoot's root tools. Then I flashed the latest TW Rom. Everything is running smoothly, despite the samsung apps fc. Be weary of the disclaimers located on all the sections I have suggested. All of these steps are at your own risk...
Odin worked on my I/O tab after i put TW on it. I had to boot the tab into CWM via fastboot from a mac

(Guide) GALAXY S2, rooting sgs2 in a very easy way

Hey friendzz, this guide is for all the people who want to know most of
the things on tweaking their phone without doing much research on internet
I am putting up this guide because I was cheated buy someone while I tried to sell it on eBay and I have covered almost all the things which you can do in sgs2
1.rooting
2.custom ROMs (thanks to developers bcs they gave me lollipop on sgs2 before official on moto x2)
3.Overclocking
4.unbricking
1,ROOTING- We all know about rooting very well , in some phones it will be very easy like my ex, sgs2 ,or very difficult like my new moto series(g2 and x) .you can root galaxy s2 in two methods
A) using odin- just flash jaboos kernel or philz kernel using Odin 1.85 and you will be having you will be having a custom recovery+custom kernel+ you will be rooted
B) thanks to Samsung guys bcs they have preinstalled a recovery which does a good function like we can flash some zips (unless Sony which doesn't has a usable recovery itself)
OK in short just download SUPER-SU.zip and reboot your phone to recovery pressing volume down +home +power simultaneously .after rebooting armrest m select apply update from SD card > choose zip from SD card and select SuperSU zip and flash and reboot your phone will be rooted
Custom recovery
A) Odin- for Odin I have already mentioned the method in rooting section under Odin, when you root using that method you will be already having a custom recovery
B) recovery- find a compatible recovery and place it in your SD card>reboot to recovery>flash it like the rooting file
Custom ROM- this is the easiest part which is made difficult by many by the way they say, after flashing custom recovery you have to just download a custom ROM file and place it in SD card and reboot to recovery>select zip and flash it, hurray you are on a custom run now
This guide is just the skeleton of my guide and I have not put any links for the things because I am having exams tomorrow and I will be upgrading this guide every day
Please hit thanks for my dedication because even though I was exam I wrote this guide and if you encourage me here I will write guides on other phones also

[SOLVED][REQ] Stock RAMDISK or BOOT image for A3(2016) - SM-A310F

Hello,
I am just new with Samsung smartphones, previously I was on some other devices such Nexus which are easier to mod.
I would like to tweak the kernel( I already got the sources) to add few things but I need for that eventually the ramdisk and the kernel image to make a boot image.
I wanted to download the latest firmware, hoping a default boot image was integrated in it and that I could unpack but I got issue and connection loss so I can't even take a look at it.
I think I will be able to get the boot image with the dd command but to do so I need to be in a mod recovery(such twrp) and currently I can't.
Thx u
Firstly you've created a voting thread. If this is a standard question I suggest in future you leave the options at default.
Why can't you use TWRP?
My build also supports raw image backup of the boot partition.
Sorry about creating wrong thread type
I have extended this feature to include BOOT

Woot Yeah I didn't know about that!
So I can just get the current boot image, unpack it, replace with my kernel image, repack and done.
And then flash the boot image throw a zip install or your extended function.
Btw, I am was looking over the net but couldn't find an exact answer to this extra Q, is there any fastboot mode ? So I can just boot in a custom kernel image before flashing it.
Yep, just backup the boot partition using twrp.
Locate the boot image backup in the twrp backup folder.
Unpack it, make your mods, rename it boot.img, copy it to internal or external storage and flash it with TWRP using the INSTALL button.
Samsung devices dont have a fastboot mode.
@ashyx answered my questions, thx to him!
>Samsung devices dont have a fastboot mode.
My latest Samsung Tablet has a fastboot mode but it was manufactured around the end of 2012 ... So it is not quite recent
I've never known a Samsung device to use FASTBOOT, so that's news to me.
Samsung uses its own proprietary ODIN mode.
Which device is this?
Ahhah you gonna say I am half of a lier.
It was my nexus 10. Built by Samsung and running the 5250 exynos chip

New to SM-T280. What's the status of bootloader, root and TWRP?

I recently picked up a Samsung SM-T280. The first thing I did was to come to XDA and see what modifications are possible. I haven't read everything but I've read a LOT trying to learn what the situation currently is as regards this device. A forum that tracks several different devices together (SM-T580, SM-T350, etc) makes this process a bit harder.
Ideally I'd like to unlock the bootloader, root the device, install TWRP then install a custom ROM. From what I've been able to gather:
- It appears to not be possible to unlock the bootloader of the SM-T280
- There are several methods to root the SM-T280 and then install TWRP
- There seem to be a couple of custom ROMs for the SM-T280, although I may be misreading this as I thought you couldn't install a custom ROM on a device with a locked bootloader.
Could someone who's followed the development of the SM-T280 far more closely than I give me a general sense of what's currently available for this device? I AM reading the threads in the forum and I AM trying to look these things up for myself. I just can't be sure that what I'm reading constitutes the best and most undated information.

It is a complicated and sad story. Lol. No there is root for device but it is Samsung and do not use bootloader to root. Little different with Sammy. There is an app for PC called Odin that directly flashes you rom if it's in tar format. . Md5 also works. Or you can use heimadal but I have no experience with this. @ashyx has a guide to rooting device and it worked perfect for me. I actually am without a PC at the moment and have had to flash. Img files to get back to kinda stock recently. Rom development is almost moot for our device although the 285 had a crap ton of stuff and our s had all the same insides from what I can tell even the ril files. They and phone. Sec have been blocked but if you expierement you may be able to get a working rom with the 285 files. I could be wrong though. I would just stick with the one available for 280 if you are not familiar with rom making (like myself). It is called tinker edition and is rooted with Xposed installed all beit a old version. But I thank that man everyday for that rom. Really makes a huge difference in usability. If I can help in any other way let me know good luck
That was incredibly helpful! Thanks for taking the time. I've used Odin many times so I'll likely start with Odin for root and TWRP. No unlocked bootloader is a shame but root is the thing I need most, as I imagine is true for most people. Thanks again.
Thanks. I was gathering info for rooting my device and most one-click roots don't work. I have the same model, the SM-T280. So Odin would work even with a locked bootloader? And will it wipe any data?

Sorry, I hope this isn't too late. Yes, odin will flash directly to the device. First you will get the .tar for twrp and flash it using the ap slot in odin. Make sure to be ready to hit the keys to go into recovery.(power vol+ and home) you have to get in to the twrp recovery to format data the very first boot otherwise the stock system will overwrite recovery and you have to flash it again.

Has there been any significant updates to this? It's hard to understand if custom rom was created or not since SM-T280 shows up in search along with SM-T285 and other A tablets.
So far I've been able to flash TWRP and install SuperSu, but I don't understand what to do from there. There is Tinker Edition out for the SM-T280 but I cannot for the life of me find out what that is and what it can do.
I'm on the fence whether to return this tablet after buying it on black friday for a more rootable tablet, or even a 7th Gen fire.

I managed to root it using the many guides on the site. Unfortunately I did return the tablet because there are no custom ROMs for the T280, and likely there won't be any.

Sorry to revive a dead thread, but you just have to hard reset so get out of download mode. I had the same problem. Just hold volume down and power button.

Please Help With MY SM-T380 (Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 2017)...I'm STUCK. :(

I can boot into Samsung recovery and can boot into Download mode. I have tried factory resetting the tablet. I have tried reflashing the stock image with Odin 3.09 in Download but everything I try just fails. It comes up with a message in stock Samsung Recovery that says:
#REboot Recovery Cause is [[check_boot_mode]RebootRecoveryWith Key]
#

E: unknown volume for path [/vendor]

Could someone please help me figure out what I need to do. I am familiar with Odin for the most part. I would be FOREVER GRATEFUL! Thank you! :victory:
TWRP to save the day!
obtain stock rom and after flashing with Odin 3b patched also flash twrp and then and using either an external storage sd card or USB otg cable and a flash drive restore them twrp backup available elsewhere on the site , try use samfirm or whatever and go to android file host and search t380 and sort thru it but everything you need is there

mine also has the same problem, another problem is my OEM is locked. So I cannot install twrp.
Hello there, I`ve bought a vietnamese Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 2019.
Can I flash the european Rom on it?
Is there maybe twrp to flash and perhaps Custom Rom's?
I wanna use it as a german model.
I am not an informed authority whatsoever but I did have quite a few close calls with my same device and I repeatedly managed to get it going. That must hurt to hear without a clear step by step specific with links instructions I know but let me not mislead you either. What good is that?! Well I can refer you to some of the resources I had luck with , it’s been a few years since too so I will go look and see if I have anything concrete , off the top of my head I want to say thanks to magisk the bootloader never did get unlocked , and I only ran the boot.img thru the app and then had my tarp ready to flash right after, be persistent I must have mangled and recovered over two dozen times here and there and again ambiguous encouragement empty as it is I can say from my experience that more than a few things that worked ended up being very simple but minor factors such as unchecking the auto reboot and flashing the twrp right after , another saving grace came in the form of a few die hard twrp flushable zips that enabled simple functions while in twrp bc I remember I would get as far as twrp and then loose the bootable os until I had reflashed the correct boot from inside twrp and I recall dmverity can be mitigated with a zip flashed inside twrp , now that sounds great but only just the right twrp would allow for this flashing feature at all so again hit and miss , I’ll go look at some of those files and review before I make any specific suggestions which would drive me nuts but if your lucky I was actually just noticing I still had an old custom rom that I had cooked up with one of those command line rom kitchens, so standby for real info but for now off hand …
Androidfilehost.com was a killer source of roms and where I found the working twrp
Back then samfirm was already depreciated but still worked and it was the fastest around but

Jonny boy , again knowing I don’t really know I want to say your good to go as I flashed all manner of rom from all over but I do remember something about I think the us version that seemed XAR less appealing I think bc it was a little more locked down but you would do well of course to refer to that list of the country codes for the roms obv, and as far as twrp I found mine on that android file host but on that same site was an identical looking version that once inside couldn’t flash or mount things properly , see what the trick was , was once armed with a twrp flashable zip i would wipe everything and include the dmverity disabled and whatever else , the patched boot.img And so if your careful even if you flash the wrong twrp first you can inside still flash that other one and reboot to it , my custom rom is nothing to get interested in all it were was a trimmed down stock , tho I did manage later to get some neat custom boot animations , I’ll check out my old files and return sooner this time
