Make the phone run in immersive mode - Xperia Z5 Premium General

In adb shell, issue the following command:
adb shell settings put global policy_control immersive.full=*
Screen is much nicer & bigger without the status & navigation bars!

Thanks man
I usually do this with all my xperia phones using gmd auto hide soft keys app and the gmd gesture controls.
But I need root for these two do you know of any other gesture apps that don't require root?

Here you have some other options for immersive mode:
· Status Bar: adb shell settings put global policy_control immersive.status=*
· Navigation Bar: adb shell settings put global policy_control immersive.navigation=*
· Both Bars: adb shell settings put global policy_control immersive.full=*
· Back to normal: adb shell settings put global policy_control null*

thnx for this mod!!! Would it be possible to remove the bars permanenty, so when i swipe from bottom, the navi bar doesnt appear?

I'm use this app, no root and able to long press power button to show the option of immersive mode
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.phoenixstudios.aiogestures
But it got the common problem that can't show the keyboard, and it's able to fixed by following command
adb shell pm grant com.phoenixstudios.aiogestures android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS; pm grant com.phoenixstudios.aiogestures android.permission.SET_ANIMATION_SCALE

Awesome! I have been looking for a similar solution for years now. I really appreciate you sharing that with everyone.
By chance, is it possible to make only say one app non-immersive or possibly only have the home screen with a status bar and all of the other apps hidden?

I tried running the command with the GMD immersive app and got this error: "adb shell pm grant com.gmd.immersive android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS; pm grant com.gmd.immersive android.permission.SET_ANIMATION_SCALE
Operation not allowed: java.lang.SecurityException: Package com.gmd.immersive has not requested permission android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS

-c,--cycle targets Power cycle targets

-Q,--query targets Query power state of specific targets"
Do you have any idea how to fix it? I'm basically just trying to get it to work to allow the home screen only to have an immersive status bar and have all of the other apps immersive. If you know a command that could do that I wouldn't need GMD at all anyway.
Thank you all for all of this valuable info!

Verizon version missing options

So I've noticed that the Verizon model is missing a couple of options, anyone find any others?
Ability to change Font styles, it's missing
Battery saver mode is missing
It seems like they've messed with the Quick Settings bar
The first two on your list are not missing. I changed my fonts already, and there is a battery saver mode.
Fonts: settings> personalize> change theme> menu button on top left, scroll down to Fonts and pick the one you want, then apply it (you can change icons, sounds, wallpapers, etc in here too)
Battery Saver is called Extreme Saver and is in the Quick Settings bar.
Customizing the Quick Settings is not available, as HTC has disabled our access to the System UI Tuner.
Thanks man, I swear I did look for those, but this just goes to show that I'm not very smart. LOL
Is there a way to use a font that I purchased? I can't seem to find how to select it.

Thanks for the info, I looked at the Extreme power mode and that's not the same as the normal Battery Saver. It doesn't appear like you can add fonts that you purchased.
Yeah, I don't use the battery saver mode, so I don't know the difference between them. If you got the font from the HTC theme store, I would think you could apply it the same way as free ones. If you bought it from the Play store, I don't know how to apply that.
I figured out how to add purchased fonts, Settings/personalize/edit current theme/scroll down & select "font" , click the v arrow, next to fonts in the top left. Select "others", & if you've already purchased fonts then they should show up.

I am having the same issue on my Verizon HTC 10. There is an "Extreme Power Saver" mode, but no regular "Power Saver" mode - Why is this not on Verizon's HTC 10? The "Extreme Power Saver" is not what I ever want to use as it makes the phone pretty much useless. Why would a feature like "Power Saver" mode be removed?
There is no "PowerSaver" mode on stock Verizon handsets. The carrier claims that it interferes with the 911 requirements. Rooted Verizon handsets can reactivate the option through mods (I believe it's a SQLlite edit of a database; that's how it was on the M9). I had PowerSaver always running on my M9 once it was rooted.
For the powersaver mode, try this from a computer with working ADB
Code:
adb shell "settings list secure | grep power"
If it returns something that looks like this
Code:
hide_ui_user_powersaver=1
Then try
Code:
adb shell "settings put secure hide_ui_user_powersaver 0"
This does not require root if done from a computer. It will require root if done from a terminal on the device. This is what works on an M9 running Marshmallow. It may or may not work on the 10. You can also try
Code:
adb shell "settings list secure"
To get a list of all the settings.

So I just tried this and "Power Saver" mode is now present and I can turn it on and off, but when I try to go into it to change the settings I get a fault that says "Power has stopped unexpectedly". Could there be another setting that needs changed? I'll be looking through the list to see if there is, but thought I'd ask also.
I went through the list and the setting is showing "hide_ui_user_powersaver=0" , but it won't let me change the when the Power Saver starts.
Son of a gun, works here, too. Thanks!

Hiding the home button on the LG G6

You were able to hide the home touch button at the bottom in apps on previous versions but not this one...plz tell me there is a way or if the option changed...the only reason I changed to this phone is because I thought I could hide the home touch button...
the screen looks like a damn iphone now...so small, I'm coming from a note 5 and this looks horrible.
I had a v20 but returned it and got this instead, now I regret it.

well if you mean by the navigation keys these: ▲ ◼ ⏺ buttons at the bottom then it defeats the purpose if it cant hide them with nova
Like I said in other versions of LG you could hide these in the apps you want, you would just scroll up from the bottom of the screen to have them show up.
Unless what you meant is that it doesnt hide them once only its on the home screen.

The navigation keys do not have an option to be hidden with certain apps like you could do with other phones. Not sure why they removed that functionality, maybe it will be put back in with future updates.

Much of the time that they aren't hidden, it's because the app you're using is in 16:9 mode. Go into the adaptive display settings and switch it to 18:9.

No, no matter what ratio mode I use, the navigation touch buttons cannot be hidden unless you go full screen on youtube or the camera, any other app you use the navigation is always there, besides, its a known option that existed before in the home touch button option menu but now its removed in the LG G6.

Would it be possible to hide them through ADB?
Theres no longer an option to hide home touch buttons per app..
You can do this with adb and chose wich app you want to hide the navigation buttons for, i was missing this on my s8 cause i had a g5 before. Look for immersive mode in the s8 section you should find it

adb shell settings put global policy_control immersive.full=com.sfr.android.mobiletv,com.sfr.android.moncompte,com.instagram.android,com.google.android.youtube,com.nbaimd.gametime.nba2011
Just an exemple; but full immersive mode remove the nav buttons AND the notification bar, but you can replace full immersive with something else to hide the nav bar only.

ADB immersive problem

So, I've been using full immersive mode for a few days, but i made it full immersive, this includes the launcher, when trying to make only the launcher not immersive, using settings put global policy_control immersive.navigation=apps,- com.sec.android.app.launcher (yes, i'm using the stock launcher), i get the following error:
Too many arguments usage: settings [--user | current] get namespace key settings [--user | current] put namespace key value settings [--user | current] delete namespace key settings [--user | current] list namespace.
In short, the argument "com.sec.android.app.laucher" is over the limit.
How can i run this command without getting the error?
I've tried googling it, didn't find an answer.
I can deactivate immersive mode, but i prefer this way.
Thank you.

System ui crash with build prop edit

Just got my essential phone today. Rooted and did my normal phone setup which includes gmd gesture control. Everything was fine until I did a build prop edit I do on all my other phones adding "qemu.hw.mainkeys = 1" to the end to disable the navigation buttons. Every time I reboot, I get a system ui force close 2 or 3 time then everything seems normal. I'm not sure how to find the log file. If anyone knows what's causing this or might be able to send me in the right direction, it would be appreciated. Btw, loving this phone so far. Coming from the nexus 6 which is still awesome as well ?
All I know is because of the a/b partition, any change made to a system file, even if you just add a file and then remove it, will result in flagging the safety net. I didn't have any issues with my phone not passing safety net (still running stock Nougat, rooted with Magisk, Xposed, and substratum themes), but that's gotta have something to do with it. Did u get it figured out?

Will this keep it in immersive mode through reboots? And by excluding gapps, will that cause it to pop up when using those apps? I've never had an issue with the build prop edit until now. And I'm hoping when a good custom Rom comes out, I'll be good to go again.

OREO Permanently HIDE Navigation bar WITHOUT ROOT and use gestures to navigate

This is for QHD resolution! and make screen zoom from settings ''medium''!
Here is step by step guide
FIRST MAKE SURE YOU HAVE DOWNLOADED AN ALTERNATIVE NAVIGATION APPLICATION, I use Edge Gestures but All in one gestures is fine also.
1. Install ADB from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
2. Enable developer settings and enable usb debugging
3. Connect phone to PC
4. Put this command to adb: adb shell settings put global policy_control immersive.navigation=*
5. Put this command after the first one: adb shell wm overscan 0,0,0,-168
6. Enjoy:
BUGS!
Lockscreen shortcut icons will be shown half.
Google photos delete confirmation diolog wil not be fully shown but you can rotate for deleting or you can just tap to the bottom right part of the screen and it deletes it.
credit: @xdeepS for the adb command
Just tried it and it works like a charm for now!
Just a question: what are the abd commands if I would like to be back to the stock navbar?
EDIT: found!
adb shell wm overscan reset
Thanks anyway!
Happy to hear I could help!
Amazing, you could keep screen zoom to small just reconfiguring the gestures app to repositionate the navbars. Done this on mine S9 and working like a charm, no more navigations bars !!! Thank U very very much

So, had to reset the overscan because other apps r not working correctly like games and whatsapp bcause you wont be abble to return to home screen, even that gestures are enabled. What I did was still in immersive mode, return all values to 0 nd keep the gestures on. When I do the gestures all work ok and the navbar appear and disappear within seconds. But remember im using oreo 8.1 launcher, the stock launcher wont hide navbar on home page.:good: trust me, even more better than default, cant use stock anymore
Sorry my english
Been using this for a while, and while Navbar is completely hidden (I was using like ~130 pixels) it was not working properly in some apps (I had buttons that were opened under the screen, unable to press them, or only partly visible). Now I just use XDA Navigation gestures which hides the navbar AND also has gestures all in one....
For Redmi S2
adb shell wm overscan 0,0,0,-82
