Factory Reset From Stock Recovery - Zenfone 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys. Does factory reset using stock recovery wipe internal memory partition?
Had been googling and asking around but it make me more confuse.
My phone: zenfone 5 1.6ghz 2 gb
Os: 4.4.2
Firmware build: the one before lollipop, ww sku
Stock rom, unrooted, usb debugging off.

[Q] 32gb nexus7 now only 8gb after flashing kernel

UPDATE : FIXED MY PROBLEM.
My 32gb nexus7 is now only 8gb!k Anyone know how to fix this?
I recently upgraded my nexus7 to kitkat and had problems with restoring my user data.
I decided to downgrade back to 4.3 and had a problem that left me without recovery, only bootloader.
I used NRT 1.8.2 to fix it, but had to enable "FORCE FLASH" for it to work.
Now it thinks its an 8gb tablet, which is really only 6gb. HELP! I really need my other 24 gb back!
Any ideas would be really appreciated.
THE SOLUTION :
I had to use the -w option to flash the system.
ex. fastboot -w flash system system.img
it recognized the size mismatch and reformatted during flashing.
NOTE : wipe in TWRP recovery did not help, maybe if i had restored the stock recovery.
I just had the problem with my 16GB showing only 8GB for me all i did was to a factory reset in recovery and fixed the problem with me.

Factory reset

I've upgraded to 5.02, so now if I do a factory reset, will the phone load the kitkat it came with or lollipop?
Lollipop.
Thanks

when you flash a custom recovery the phone deletes the old recovery and applies the new one, the only way to change that is to reflash the recovery with another rom or the stock rom

another brick in the wall

Hi, another post about a brick I'm afraid. This brick holds a question though. I'll get to it
Friends new s5 failed an ota root (towelroot, reset then kingroot.. both fail) he didn't want custom rom just root access.
Then when trying official ota update from 4.2.2 to 6 it looped. Installation was around 10 min then the reboot stalled and just sits until it's warm.
It runs download mode and is recognised in odin.. but no recovery - it goes to update screen (android w cog in chest) and then bootloops
This softbrick 'is' fixable.. but i dont have the csc
It is a 4.4.2 telstr austrailia model.. I think it might be build that ends with an_1
BUT did it update? do I flash 4.4.2 or 6
If partition was affected before official update then it will still be 4.4.2
But if it was simply files that were damaged then it may be a corrupt 6
hmm
Much appreciated
Andy
install twrp>advanced wipe> wipe data, cache, dalvik, system.
reflash any fw version via odin

Click to collapse
Yeah recovery then wipe worked, I had doubted flashing since it was stuck on official update.. Thanks
For ref - loop was just from sys files being modified (prob towelroot ota)
Once wiped it would still sit on boot but now it wouldn't loop or heat up
From there I flashed og firmware w odin and wiped

Mi A1 64 GB only showing 32GB after coming back from custom rom.

My phone doesn't recognize the full capacity of storage after installing Resurrection v6 and coming back to April's Oreo Stock rom.
Tried flashing rom again and flashing nougat rom.
You might have to factory flash in EDL mode to restore partition layout. Do note that this will wipe IMEI and I think MAC's in persist, so make an emmcdl backup first. If you don't know how to do that, Google it - there's a toolkit for it somewhere on XDA.
