Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo/New root? - Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo Questions & Answers

Hi,
I'm the proud owner of a Samsung Galaxy S5 New G903F, and I wanna root it, I searched a lot but I didn't found any working method. I just want to know if someone already found a working method. Thanks for answering!

Hi brother... I've just rooted mine sm-g903m using chainfire tool with Odin. Take a look at chainfire website.

Hi mate! So you say root is already rolled out for G903F and G903M? I have an G903F edition and I've taken a look onto chainfire's website and it shows up a zip archive containing an md5 file, odin 3.10.exe and some other files. Is that the rooting method or just the unlocked bootloader? and if it's root, is it stable? can I go back to stock firmware through Odin so I can get my warranty back at anytime?
Thanks in advance!

Hi mate, it was the method I used to get my device rooted and it didn´t give me any strange behavior. I´m affraid to say, that unfortunately I guess that there is no warranty back since you will modify the system, and it should be noticeable by the manufacturer or service provider, I´ve just did, because I don´t care about warranty.

Canadian Variant 928W8 stock firmware

Any one knows when it will be available? My phone has been FRP locked, so need it urgently to unbrick my phone... Thanks!!
Sam mobile usually has all the firmwares available to download as Odin packages. If not I could probably do a factory reset, make a twrp backup and upload it for you? You'll of course need to root/install twrp following all the guides here for that to work though.
I don't know if you're looking for a stock ROM or not. Honestly haven't read much about the FRP lock, haven't even bothered flashing my Edge+ yet (also W8 variant, which is weird for me, first android I haven't flashed.. ). Anyway, there is THIS in the T-Mobile section (rooted+deodexed though).
Hmm... the problem is that I cannot even boot into recovery mode as this stupid FRP is blocking every custom recovery/kernel/ROM.... Only the stock firmware would help to unbrick the phone...

Thanks for the link, but it is not the stock firmware so that it won't help in my case. FRP basically blocks any recovery/kernel/ROM other than stock version. Please please please always keep in mind to check"OEM unlock" in developer option before doing factory reset on a custom ROM, in particular we are using W8 variant, that Samsung hasn't released the stock firmware... In other words, there is no way to unbrick the phone once it is FRP locked.
Anybody manage to find this? I need the stock firmware now too :\
Is it true that the battery doesn't charge after it's FRP locked? So the missing W8 firmware even if it comes eventually when the battery is dead the phone is dead? How in the hell are we supposed to fix this with no firmware available on sammobile?! Is there really no other way? Who has the firmware? Do the carriers have it?
Samsung Firmware has stock firmware for the W8 variant (full ODIN tar files), both OGD and the new OK5. I've been checking sammobile daily, and nothing (even at the time of this post).. Just thought I'd post in case some were not aware..

You're welcome! Since I made that post, sammobile has 2 versions of OK5 firmware now. IIRC, they have a free download method (ableit, it's slow). Should be able to change CSC, but I could be wrong..
Anyone know how to fix it yet?
Canadian variants are on sammobile now.

Yes, you can downgrade APG1 to APD8!!!!!

First, flash ENG boot in the AP. Then, go back immediately and flash the CSC CP and AP of the ROM of your choice. Simple, easy, DOWNGRADE COMPLETE!!!

Wait, so if I'm on bootloader v3, will this let me flash U firmware which is on bootloader v2? Can someone confirm?

when some one tests this can they please do a video to prove if it works, also can we flash CSC that does not factory wipe the phone. also I don't remember for sure but isn't the U firmware bootloader 2 the international version with the unlocked bootloader?
I wanted to know you you could wip up a quick tutorial or steps for us . I can tell its really simple and easy. but once we unzip the firmware wont it then lose the md5 has and signature. of are the 5 files inside also signed.

Yep, if this works then the OP is a genius who's name will live on in the T-Mobile s7 edge forum. People will be able to flash the U firmware again. Can someone also verify that knox doesn't get tripped?

Since they are all official and signed files I would assume that this would not trip knox. But I can not verify for sure. Also I thought knox checks to see if the boot loader is unlocked.
I have another question. with an unlocked boot loader don't we still have the problem of dm-verity being enabled that would stop use form flashing mods and roms.

The main thing that *most* people want is the U firmware. Also, I'm not really sure exactly what knox does other than to not trip it.

If this works, this would be amazing. I don't want root, I don't want to even unlock my bootloader, I just want to put the U firmware on my T-Mobile S7.
Not to get off topic but what's the big deal about the u firmware is it Universal or is it unbranded with a lot less bloat. Or additional features?

It is unbranded, let's you uninstall bloat apps completely, and unlocks most us bands.

Have you successfully done this and does that not mean that downgraded bootloader is also unlocked. Or that we could flash another models bootloader to to the s7 edge

"Yes, you can downgrade APG1 to APD8!!!!!" pd8 i guess is bootloader v3. if he downgrade to bp8,this thread thread will be on fire!!!
I'm pretty sure pd8 is v3 bootloader also. Shouldn't be any issues downgrading pg1 to pd8 regularly, both same version bl.

This tread here says we cant do it http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-s7-edge/help/downgrade-apg1-to-pd8-t3429642
but maybe op in our tread found a way @lincolnsxda
So guys, I've goy APD8 and have downloaded the update but haven't installed. Is there any way I can delete the update file, it's taking up space. Also why is the new updste so bad?

I'll be happy to try on the next couple days, but I'm having a hard time finding a good link to the U firmware that doesn't require payment. Anyone have a link?

It is not bad, but comes with a later bootloader which can limit some options.

OTA updates with root

Hey all, as a new galaxy user I wonder if anyone has a solution to my current problem. I have a rooted S8 with the stock rom installed.. However it won't let me update at all including OTA. I wonder if anyone had a solution or workaround they could direct me to?
Thanks in advance!
there is no workaround... to make long story short, - just download latest firmware for your device and flash via Odin, re-root.

How to Root Galaxy S7 G930PVPS5BRA1 ?

Hi @Creative18, could you post that file on some location I can access it G930PVPS5BRA1?
I was trying to root my phone and broke my system. I have tried with older firmwares but didn't work. I think I need to try with an updated firmware like this: G930PVPS5BRA1.
I will really appreciate your help.
I'm in a bad moment about this.
Thanks in advance.
There has been a partial root obtained in this thread for the edge version:

It is possible it could be used on the flat version.
If anyone does manage to root the RA1 version, please contact me. I need a rooted version of this phone with RA1 to extract the bootloader and revive a bricked version of this bad boy. You would be doing a great service to other owners of this phone with the same problem as me..
What I need:

Thanks in advance to anyone that is able to do this! I will gladly buy you a beer if it is soon enough (if not I will probably just have to replace the motherboard).

Yeah. But they said they needed a bootloader extracted from a device? Idk what that would help them with. Besides you can extract specific partitions from the firmware file.

I also searched weeks and i have it . a simple fast root for our sm930P Sprint and other versions S7 on a locked bootloader . i have done two S7s one on ra1 and the other on BD2 a 5 and 6 . it rooted the first time on both and the speps are simple . no bootlooping apps to install no confusion .simple install.. it runs very very fast and i see no difference from a stock nugget phone other than samsung pay and a few samsung apps dont like root. it even has an over cloke if you want. Flash at your own risk but now i have my titanium backup and other root apps running flawless . on TING . simple two steps involved and no bootloops . i used the system root option and did not wipe data and used the leave safestrap on it or no safestrap installed option . the rest is EASY PEASY https://www.androidsage.com/2017/03...gat-firmware-usa-att-t-mobile-verizon-sprint/

Hi. My question to you is, what do you want root for.. do you just want to root your device with stock rom or you want to use some custom roms?
I just want to root it so i can fully control my device.. delete some bloatwares and can download app with root supported like titanium backups and etc. Its either stock rom or custom rom can do..as long as it is safe and never affects my device performance..and dont make my device a laggy issues or something like that. Thank you for the response..

Hi. Sorry for the late reply.
If it says 935f. It's probably compatible with roms and recoveries for 935f.
If I'll have to do something like this.. I'd definitely try myself first. Just use odin method to root 935f. Since it's just flashing recovery and installation of super su. There's not much at risk. You can try odin method. If anything does wrong you can still flash it back using odin too....
And if it's about custom rom. I'd highly recommend checking your phones box for the type of chip inside your device. Download recovery and flash via odin. Copy rom to sd card and flash it. But do remember to check oem unlock. Plus you need to download the exact rom for 935 model and exynos/snapdragon version.
