Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 acts weird - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I have a Galaxy S4 GT-I9500, Not rooted but custom recovery installed, and sometimes I get the SDCard Menu (UP Key - Normal Booting, Down Key - Download Mode) and sometimes it takes me to the CWM recovery mode and Now I was able to remove the cwm recovery mode completely but at random times there are weird black lines on my screen (just like when the tube of a TV bursts) and then my phone turns off. {I am adding the URL of the SDCARD MENU picture and the weird black lines Picture}

[GUIDE] How to get into RECOVERY & Download Mode

I couldn't find any information about how to get into download mode using any method other than using ADB and thougth to myself, "There has to be a key combination" so I had a play around and there is.
DOWNLOAD MODE:
1) Power down the camera.
2) Whilst holding down the Shutter Button press an hold the power button.
You will then see the following screen.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Then just follow the on screen instructions.
In fact, you can do it using the zoom rocker too.
Now, I have been trying to find a combo to get into recovery, I have got it to flash up, but not stay, so it has to be in there, just a case of figuring it out.
UPDATE:
I've figured it out!
To get into RECOVERY MODE:
Make sure the camera is off first.
1) Press the shutter button HALF WAY IN and keep it held in that position.
2) Press the power button until you see it turn on then let it go, but keep the shutter button in the half way position.
You will then enter Recovery.
I keep doing this accidentally, so it wasn't hard for me to find . Must be something about the way I'm holding the camera sometimes when powering up.
I've figured out the combination to get into recovery, first post updated.

nice.. have been trying to figure this out myself,,,
Thanks for this! I'm trying to help someone recover from a bad stock update and we could find the info anywhere on how to get to recovery mode.
Ok guys. I tried all your suggestions and none work. I will tell you which one does. Download quickboot from play store and it allows you to tap on option to go into recovery. Works like a charm. none of this other nonsense.

You actually need to hold longer and it will enter the mode you want.

I was loading CF-Root and it did not help.

WTF?? Stock LG G2 randomly rested now stuck looping on animation screen

So I was just laying down and watching a youtube video and all of a sudden it just rebooted by itself
Now it's stuck on the white animation reboot screen where the white screen and the verizon sign and logo come in......it just loops on that animation over and over and over
what do I do?
It's a completely stock LG G2
it's this animation screen (the phone in the below pic is not mine)

Try this, it will factory reset your phone though.
Hold Volume Down and Power button at the same time until the LG logo shows up, then release them and press them down again.
If that doesn't work,
Hold Volume Down and Power button until the LG logo shows up, then release ONLY the Power button while still holding the Volume Down button, then press the Power button again.
Since it's stock, someone else probably had the same issue as you, just do some searching because I am not absolutely sure this method will work for you. I think this only works on the Verizon variant which you have.
Best of luck,
Stephen

Stuck on "Powered by Android" Screen? Try this

This is for people stuck on the "Powered by Android" Screen after problems while flashing the new firmware. If you notice, you will not be able to restart or even power off the phone. No worries. Do the following
1. On the Powered by Android screen, keep the Volume Up button and Power button pressed till the phone restarts (you will also feel it vibrate once)
2. Let go of the buttons and wait for a few seconds, the phone will boot in recovery mode
3. You will have options to power off the device on this screen You can use the volume buttons to navigate and power button to select the required option.
You can always power off and go back to download mode by pressing the Volume down button and power button together. Now you are good to go for another round of firmware flashing.
Hope this helps

Nexus 10 Forgotten Pattern

Hi All,
I've got an old nexus 10 which I have forgotten the pattern to.
Originally it had 2 users set up (The Administrator (me) and a Music user for my uni house). Over the holidays I have forgotten the pattern used to sercure the admin account. As the tablet is only used for music now (Google Music) i'm not bothered about resetting it or losing its content etc but was unable to trigger a factory reset from the Music user account.
I've since tried forcing a reset from Android Device Manager but received an error as the Admin account wasn't active and multiple users had been created. To try and rectify this I deleted the Music user and Android DM still didn't work (I also now have a device which I can't use at all as the user without a password has been removed).
I've attempted putting it into recovery to reset it from there but receive a "No Command" error and attempts at using ADB have failed as it is classed as "Unauthorised".
Any ideas on how to reset/remove the pattern. I don't mind erasing all content or attempting to flash a new rom etc but just a tad stuck at the moment.
My google account is active on the device (I can locate it but haven't been able to trigger a ring or reset).
Regards
Since you do not mind losing all data I suggest reset via recovery.
Hold volume up and down and press the power button. Keep all three buttons pressed until you feel a vibration.
You should now boot to bootloader.
Press volume up until the top left of the screen says recovery mode. Press power button to enter recovery mode.
The tablet should now reboot to recovery mode.
Depending on what recovery you have installed, the reset process is different.
On stock recovery (that is id you have not changed) scroll down to factory reset using the volume buttons, select using the power button.
Hope this helps.

**Not actually my picture**
Once I'm in recovery I can easily select the wipe option, but I don't know how to move to the recovery from this error screen?
Was able to fix the "No Command" error by repeatidly pressing the power button and the volume down key.
This got me into recovery properly where I was able to reset the device successfully.
Regards
Lovely. ☺

Been stuck on this screen for the last 6/7 hours. Pressing power plus volume down restarts the phone then rapidly goes into this screen and starts loading the update. After 100% it stays, nothing happens. The recovery menu never comes. Mine is SM-A205U Full Stock ROM

Restart the phone using volume down and the power button.
After the screen turns off but before it turns back on, let go of volume down and hold volume up instead along with your power button.
Either wipe your phone or format data from there. (Either option will leave you factory fresh in this case)
Unless you wanna use odin to push the update instead of relying on the inbuilt updater.
In which case you hold volume up and down along with the power button before using a computer to do your update.

So it should revert back to its original firmware?
Always wondered about this situation on unrooted phones. It can happen too easily with auto flashing.
