Decrease in performance when using microsd as internal storage with Marshmallow? - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm wondering if anyone has noticed a decrease in performance after using microsd cards as internal storage with Marshmallow on their Moto X Pure Editions. Any feedback would be appreciated.
I bought a 32gb Moto X Pure Edition during the recent Amazon sale. I also bought a "SanDisk Extreme PRO 64GB UHS-I/U3 Micro SDXC Memory Card Speeds Up To 95MB/s With 4K Ultra HD Ready-SDSDQXP-064G-G46A" from Amazon. I'd like to use it as internal storage but am concerned about potential decreases in performance when using apps stored on the microsd card.
Thanks.

Hi,
Just redid my sd card to internal the other day.
Actually I see no difference in speed.
I have the Samsung 64gb EVO card.
Ken

I'm using an SD card that was used on my Droid X (yep still kicking), and no speed decrease on system.

Who uses a microSD card in their note 4?

I am looking to get a microSD for storing my music and photos to use on my note 4. I heard that microSD cards can slow down the phone's performance, can you share your experiences with the microSD and note 4 lag? Thanks
I'm using a 64gb microSD on my N4. I'm not sure on the lagging issue coming from the use of microSD or what since been using the microSD at beginning of ownership. N4 upgraded to lollipop

i have been using it since i bought the device and havent had any problem about it.. it doesnt effect your general usage but it can make pics showing slower in gallery if you buy a slow card.
I am using 32GB class10 MicroSD card from beginning and never have issues.

I did experience few delays when I used a class 6 microSD that I found in my old phone. Make sure you use at least class 10.
I'm using a Samsung 64Gb PRO - haven't noticed any impact on phone performance. I store all my photos and media on it, and even large 16MP images load instantly in QuickPic.
128 gb SanDisk class 10 here. No lag what so ever...
/CK
I've been using mine with a 32GB MicroSDHC Class 10 without a single problem.
Samsung 64gb card. No slowdowns due to it.

This is a bit of a loaded question.
Firstly, The speed and size of the memory card can impact the performance of the card. I use a 64GB Class 10 card and its around 90% full, i find that this does impact performance i do have lag when accessing certain folders.
The lag in my instance is caused with the fact i have over 3000 image files in folders/ subfolders and my app i use for gallery loves to thumbnail them all.
Games, and call recording etc result in next to no impact.
Scandisk 64gb class 10. Almost full, with a lot of music, pictures and documents. No lag at all.
i use a 32GB MicroSDHC Class 10 from transcend
It doesn't cause any lag but i'm testing the phone without it, suspecting it may cause overheating, even though probability is very weak
I have a 32gb Sony high speed I got on Amazon for ten bucks. Works great!
128gig here. Sandisk.
32GB class 10 since day one. Never had any lag.
I've been using a 32GB Sandisk MicroSDCard in my N910C for over 2 weeks now and I haven't noticed any lag at all. I mainly use my microSDCard for media, documents and photo storage. That way I don't have to worry about my N910C's internal memory running out.
128Gb Samsung Card
I'm using a 64GB class 10 Sandisk ExtremePro that I bought on sale and had used in my previous phone- I've tried the phone without the card and the lag is still there so I'm assuming the card isn't the factor. I'm on lollipop btw.
128 gb Samsung class 10 here...
im using a Viking Man 64 GB Class10 UHS1 U3 microsd card

Moto x Style(pure) Maximum external storage question.

I currently am debating on getting a high capacity micro SD card for my moto. I was wondering what the maximum capacity is, I know they sell up to 512 GB micro SD cards but am wondering if the phone would even support it. If not what is the maximum capacity? Thanks!!
I think the max capacity supported is 128 GB.

I too have a 200GB Sandisk and it works fine.
No way!! That's awesome! Thanks for the reply. anyone have any luck with the 512 or another nock off brand 512?
I don't believe that anybody has more than a 200GB card running in their phone for two reasons.
Firstly, there is some kind of filesystem or standards issue which is limiting the cards to 200GB of addressable space. I'm sure Wiki has more info. Secondly, the only mention of a 512GB MicroSD is this (http://www.cnet.com/au/news/microdia-will-sell-a-1000-ish-512gb-microsd-come-july/), which as it turns out, is nowhere to be found, 9 months later.
Having said that, 200GB for $70-something USD is incredible bang for buck. Add to that 32GB or 64GB of onboard storage and that should cover everybody.
200GB is the max supported size so buying larger is a waste.

I'm using Sandisk's 200GB SD card as well.
No issues whatsoever.
I have it set up as portable storage though.
No interested in that other mode added with MM.

External SD card painfully slow speeds?

Hi All,
I was wondering if I'm doing something wrong or if it's just to be expected. I have an S7 edge that I'm attempting to move apps to the SD card and they are just painfully slow, if they transfer at all. I'm using a Samsung Evo 128gb class 10 micro sd card. I've also tried a SanDisk 128gb Ultra class 10 card and it was really really slow. Is there some trick to speed this up? Am I using too beefy of a card? Any help is greatly appreciated!!
move the apps always has been slow even in class 10 sd cards, or at least thats what I remember.... but every other thing is just right

The speed of the external microsd card fully depends on the quality and the specs of the microsd card
itself. That's why some microsd cards are slow or super slow.
I have two 128GB microsd cards, one of them is Sandisk Extreme $80 model and it reads and writes
almost 5 times faster than my other off-brand $28 128GB microsdcard. Both microsd cards are class 10.
I am not talking about speed benchmarks, I am talking about real life transfer speeds under heavy usage..
I also have a 64GB off-brand $17 microsd card which is just as slow as my 128GB $28 off-brand microsd.
All 3 of my microsdcards were purchased at Amazon.com
Good luck,
Have a great day!
I have same problem here I have : https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00V62XBQQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And I go 13Mb/S Write and 60 MB/S Read
((((((
same here...
Just got my S7 and transferring speed from PC to external SD is extremely slow (I tried 64GB and 128GB sandisk class 10 which worked great on my last LG-G3...)
I also tried transferring from internal memory to external SD and it was still extremely slow..
Can it be HW problem (I can send it back for refund - but if it SW issue which can be fixed it would be a better)?

Micro SD as internal adoptable storage?

I bought a 128 GB Samsung EVO microSDXC Memory Card U3, Grade 3, Class 10, from Amazon and was wondering if it is a good idea to use it as internal adoptable storage. Will it affect performance so bad? I just have one week with my Mi A1 and it is working great, 64 GB is plenty for what I need for now, but I guess it will be great not to worry about data space for apps, movies or photos. So, what do you think?
+1 question
I have the 32gb A1 and use a Samsun 64gb SD as internal storage for a total of 96gb (around 90 usable) and it works a treat. I have around 30gb of apps already so the SD is being used a little and I couldn't tell which apps use it at all. They all feel equally quick.
No issues to report, highly recommend

ZTE Blade Spark (Z971), Can internal storage be extended with a SD Card for apps?

I'm debating on getting a AT&T ZTE Blade Spark or Moto E4 Plus. The Specs are pretty much same, the only thing that is different is storage size. ZTE Comes with 16GB while the E4 Plus has 32GB. I would much rather save 50% and go with the Spark but 16gb isn't much storage for apps, So can I extend the storage space using a SD Card? 16GB isn't enough space for all my apps.
you can use an sd card as internal storage since it's running nougat, so yes, you can expand it

This is the card that I use. Granted it's on the heavy side both price and capacity but so long as it's a class 10 card you should be good. Going lower just increases your chances (by a hair but still) of random failures which can muck up and afternoon.
