6.0 will come on this phone ? - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I always had Nexus phones, I don't really like samsung.. but this time, I obtained an S6 Edge Plus for nothing, and look into the dev forum, I think this forum is empty of many knowed roms, but the S6 Edge forum is full of tons of roms
My question is WHY ? because this phone is new ? or not many devs are interrested by them ?
Will he have a great XDA support from devs for custom AOSP 6.0 roms ?
I want to know this, because with Nexus and OnePlus phones, I always love to switch and test all custom roms, if I can't make same on this S6 Edge Plus, I will sell them
Thanks a lot

especially that it is the same hardwarev specifications , except the amount of ram, am I wrong?

As far as I know, Samsung has not released the sourcecode for the edge+, making it difficult for devs to build roms for it. Its still possible, but most devs are boycotting the phone in protest against this.
That's why there arent many roms, and it'll probably stay that way. But we will be getting 6.0 sometime in January or February, depending on your carrier.

Yes, but please, STOP Quote entire posts just for that, a simple Quick Reply is Enought

He quoted you because he had one of the same questions you did, many people would have done the same.

Up-to-date ROM list

Hi,
In case it helps, I have an up-to-date Galaxy Note 2 ROM list kept here, which includes the GT-N7100, N7105 models.
Someone was asking for a list in the AT&T section, so I thought I'd post this info in each section to tell people.
It's kind of a hobby, but it's kept up-to-date pretty much every day.
Some of you might find it useful.
That's some serious consolidation done there m8! Great job, surely helps!
Thanks.
Just a quick bump in case it can help anyone out who doesn't know about it.
Super awesome. If you could just sort it base wise like touchwiz and aosp.
this is XXXDDDAAA
Hi,
It came to my attention that I'd forgotten to add a few roms from the `Original Android Development' sections for the different carriers.
Sorry about that. Those roms have now been added.
Just a quick bump. The Galaxy Note 2 ROMs list is still regularly updated.
I hope it continues to help people out. As usual most of the ROMs are here at XDA.
Thanks.
Note 2 ROMs
cool thanks
I'm still using my Note 2 (believe it or not). The Galaxy Note 2 ROMs list is still going strong, too - although it has gotten easier with less ROM development.
(This is kind of a thread bump. I'm looking to switch to a Galaxy S8 Edge in the near future, if they are any good.)

Sorry for the boring reply, but I would recommend whichever one you try and like.
MIUI is nice for a change sometimes. Here in Japan, we were limited as to which ROMs we could flash, so I eventually went back to the latest ROMs from the carrier (DoCoMo).
The Galaxy Note 2 is still a nice phone. I'm looking forward to changing devices in the coming months, after having stayed with the Note 2 since it came out.
I pay quite a bit each month here for my phone, so it makes sense to benefit from a newer device if I'm still paying quite a bit each month.
The Note 2 still does everything I need it to do. But after trying other devices in the stores, I realize that they are quicker, lighter, and it's important to freshen up life with new experiences. (I'm kind of old fashioned, so I have to remind myself to change every few years.)
(It can also be tricky getting a 24 month contract when you live abroad and rely on renewing your visa annually.)
.. Go with whichever ROM you like, and read the threads and see how much enthusiasm there is for each one.

Do you know the main ROM thread for that? (It doesn't have to be XDA.)
For example: This thread links to these files.
That ROM you posted the link to is dated as more recent, so it would be nice to know the thread it belongs to.
Thanks.
I dont think theres even a thread but therom works fine. I flashed it some days back @Grant Barker
Only the buttons backlight doesn't work. Other than that everything works fine.

Galaxy S6 Firmware

Hey all, i am thinking of buying a note 4 and in my country they sell both variants the F and the C, I dont care much about custom aosp roms and i would like to ask, the S6 firmware when it comes on what variant it can be ported more easily? If not the whole rom then maybe most of the features?
Thanks

It's possible but I wouldn't expect to see it for some time. First we need the device. Also the Source for said device/kernel. Also the source for your device your porting to. Then there has to be a developer; with both devices, has time to develop, willing to share it, has not left XDA, and is willing to support and fix any problems. Basically flip a coin. Guess heads or tails. That's your answer.
There is a posibility that we'll get the new touchwiz UI in a later update..5.1 maybe.
That is why i am asking, to me as i understand N910C is the more powerful CPU, i don't play many games so for me its my first choice, but in terms of support we all know that the exynos doesn't have any sources, so i am asking if and when the S6 comes, will i get the ported touchwiz hypotheticaly or the snapdragon version is easier way to be ported?

Question about how Android Beta's work

Hello all!
This is my first post on XDA, I was just wondering how Android Betas work... I know how iOS works because that was my main driver for a year when I thought the iOS market was superior. (Please ignore that comment when replying... xD), you just loaded a simple file.
But the Android Betas seem different...
I have a S7 Edge so:
is it possible to trick the beta into working on an S7?
Does it even work that way?
Or would it just break on loading the OS?
I'm a fairly tech-y guy, so you don't need to necessarily dumb it down for me.
Thanks !
EDIT 1:
Oops! Forgot to be specific! I meant Android Betas like Android N!

What betas are you speaking of? For apps, the betas are under "Early Access" in the play store. Other apps (if the developer chooses) have an option to opt-in to beta releases at the bottom of the app description (see screenshot).

I understand what you ask.
1st thing is we wish it was as easy as nexus!
As exynos is closed source we can't make it boot without issues. Read 1st post of CM13 thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/cyanogenmod-13-galaxy-s7-edge-t3414697
It's exactly the same as attempting to install and boot an N preview. Hopefully that may clear things a little ??

Yes, they've released the open source parts of their kernel but none of the necessary code to run on the s7 with success right out the box.
Samsung will compile N once it's fully released by Google but with touchwiz UX and Samsung bloat lol. Rumours of an N beta build for s7 is being tested internally by Samsung as some comments in the firmware thread in the guides section but no vanilla android for us S7 owners for a while.
thats one of the cons of owning a samsung device..you will never experience true stock android on a samsung device although they did have a galaxy s5 google play edition but not anymore

Its a shame they don't have galaxy google play editions anymore
I have a AOSP tablet and even had a chinese AOSP phone that had like 20 different OS's. I sold the phone cause it wasn't as awesome as my S6. I had a choice to get a nexus phone or lg g5 or xperia. But I chose S7 Edge cause it was simply better. AOSP is nice when it comes to modding it etc but after like a week or two it just gets slightly boring. I also had a lot of IPhones and an IPad but S7 Edge so far is waaay better than all of them.

developement dead?

So been floating around past few months and it seems developement for the s6 edge plus is dead..
Is anyone working on anything?
Any roms due an update?
Anyone working on anything special?
This is not a moaning post, simply a post to see if we have anyone activly working on any developements or if developement is dead
Thanks in advance
Kriss
Had the similar feeling from last couple of weeks. I wish someone please shed some light on upcoming developments particularly about ROMS. Would be much obliged.
Same feeling here...Pixel rom seems to be the only one alive.
Great phone, small development....
Yeah i stupidly bought the verizon variant, here i am stuck without a single root. Gonna sell it soon and maybe get a s7 edge
Maybe when Oreo comes the development will be active again?
Can we flash every Note 5 rom on our s6 edge+? As I have recently flashed the updated version of Dr. Ketan ROM for Note 5 on my s6 edge+ and it is working flawlessly...
yes dead

HTV HD2 didn't get Nougat but runs it. Someone will make a custom Oreo ROM for s6e+ don't worry.
Yeah, but i was talking about a stock rom

Samsung, YOU SUCK.

what is wrong with Samsung. every phone or tablet I get from them never gets updated. i have the tab a6 sm-t280
and everytime someone makes a post about this tablet, it gets ignored. i need you people to develop a custom rom for it something!! even android 6.0 would be better. Samsung is literally release a product and forget about it.
Maybe try looking at how much development there is for a device before you buy it.
I always first look here if there is at least development happening before I buy something.
All my devices got from Samsung at least 2 major upgrades and the rest thanks to all the developers here or on other forums

First of all, the T280 is an OLD tablet and NO maker upgrades one that old. Second of all, there ARE later ROMs made by these NON PAID VOLUNTEERS for the T280. If you are too dumb to find them, that's YOUR PROBLEM, not Samsung's or the people in this forum.
there are no roms. and i am not dumb
there is 1 rom and its based on the stock rom and same android os.

I see 6 roms on page 1 of the search result alone, and I didn't even check the other pages: https://forum.xda-developers.com/search/forum/5868?query=T280
They might not be NEW roms but then again that tablet isn't new either. As long as the roms still work that doesn't really matter anyway.
You have to remember that ALL rom development is done by unpaid volunteers, none of them owe you anything. If you're not happy with the available roms then why not learn to build one yourself? Or switch to a newer device - but next time check before buying one how active the development is for it.

you really need a heavy reading lesson, please, do it, for your own sake, these roms are for sm-t285. not for sm-t280. all the sm-t280 roms are the same os and based on the stock rom.
those roms are for sm-t285. not t-280
