Marshmallow H815520A available on LG Bridge for TWN - G4 General

checked devtester http://devtester.ro/projects/lg-firmwares/country.php?country=Taiwan
and sure enough there's a new firmware when I checked LG Bridge.
No OTA notification for me yet though

if only we could root

Absolutely no interest in Marshmallow unless we finally get a bootloader unlock for the TWN variant.
Absolutely love my G4, but I have no respect for their decision to simply ignore the wishes of developers/people who want to use their phone how THEY want.
Poor form LG, poor form indeed.

Weirdly it was there Last night on my netbook but it refused to Work as it didn't have enough ram available. Today on Work computer it said no update available! Looks like they pulled it again
And when I tried again just there now again it's gone! Update withdrawn: AGAIN!

is there any KDZ available that we could flash using LGUP?

Same! I absolutely love my G4 but bcoz of this ridiculous decision of theirs I will never buy another one and will steer everyone I know away from them. The way they are carrying on you would think they were worried everyone in the world wants to unlock their bootloaders but it's only enthusiasts and devs, the very people they should be making happy as it's us that spreads word of mouth recommendations. Which is the best form of marketing. I updated to MM bcoz I've totally lost faith in LG and got sick of waiting for either them to have a change of heart or devs to come up with a solution (which LG will probably try and thwart). I'm joining the Nexus army!

i see the update available in mac versions of lg bridge but not the pc version. it goes through the whole download process and then the update fails on two separate macs. pretty frustrating.

Yep, it was available for me last night, but now it says no update available. They pulled it.
I wanted to have a play before I sell my G4.

Man don't even bother flashing marshmallow onto your phone. It's not what you think it is. I did flash using LGUP and what a mistake it was too flash the marshmallow kdz. You only get half the screen on time compared to lollipop. So hold of until they sort the issues out

Thank you for your advice.

It's much more smoother and no bugs that I encounter so far, a few days needed for doze mode to kick in. I highly recommend it, you won't regret.

I do think if they pulled it (or aren't ready to release and someone accidentally pushed it out prematurely) then it's for a reason. If they have it ready then why would they hold it back? I'll let them continue to bug test and i'll get it when ready. Lollipop is still fairly new and without better battery life I don't see the point of marshmallow at this point.

Ota 1.47.651.1 pulled

OTA 1.47.651.1 has been pulled as it is bricking some phones. Sprint has a internal notice floating around but I just figured that I should post this incase anyone was wondering.
Thank you for posting this. I was following the forums all day to see how the OTA was affecting rooted and non-rooted. It's ironic (and very unfortunate) that most stock users are getting bricked. Sprint not off to a good start with the EVO.
LOL much like the Hero.
I updated after monitoring, having only previously ran unrEVOked for wifi tether. Lucky for me, all is well.
Sprint is honestly not just off to a bad start with this phone, they're pretty much off to an awful start with it. Can't keep stock, can't replenish stock, bricked stock phones after OTA updates.
Not good problems to have.
I would bet it was a very small percentage that was having issues. From what I saw it was the fantom second update that was causing the problems. Anyway, some of the folks who know what to do with it, have it to take apart and use for the good of the rest of us.
Yippi!
-Roger
most non rooted getting bricked. prove it
I'm pretty glad I got mine. Helped my 4g strength somehow. I was dropping and switching back and forth (3g to 4g) and now I have full bars and drops to two bars every now and then. Also, phone works just as perfectly as before. I haven't rooted and won't until all of the kinks are worked out.

Not keeping stock is not really a bad thing for Sprint. They're just selling a ton of Evo's. And I don't think it's Sprint's fault for not getting new devices in (more likely HTC or the manufacturers) and the OTA is from HTC. Sprint would be fine if HTC could get their act together, although most of the problems are few and far between.
Is the update file available somewhere? It's still legit. I had the option to update today at work but signal was bad so I waited until I got home. By then the update got pulled and I no longer had the update option. I'd like to get the new update on my phone since I heard it improves battery life considerably.
My money is that the phone bricking was a result of non-patient users who didn't let the update finish and/or those who blindly hit "accept" without doing the slightest amount of reading (like checking the version number vs. what they already have on the phone).... ie. Those who ran the update twice.
No root, no problems. I updated when it first came out. Haven't noticed anything different.

Not being able to keep your product in stock because the demand is so high I would say is a pretty good problem to have.
It would be great if they posted a link for a download. Palm would always put their updates on they website for download. Can any body get it from their build who downloaded it?

Considering iPhone 4s are sold out for the next few weeks (lines outside local AT&T / Apple stores for the second round of preorders this morning)...
And I imagine the same will be true for Verizon when it drops the Droid X...
All the "hot" phones are pretty much currently sold out.

While I honestly don't care for official updates, I would be gladly surprised if LG did give this device a 5.1 (hopefully 5.1.1) update.
On the other hand, the website seems like a clickbait site, so see if you can find a more reliable source.
Why shouldn't lg give 5.1? 5.1 falls in 2 year support cycle

This phone was born with JB, we got KK and now LP
I think we wont get nothing else from official stock lg.
But Cyanogen,Paranoid,Aosp,Resurretion remix,Aicp,Slim,blisspop... And all stock modded and ports still under develop for years
In my opinion, the Lollipop 5.0.2 update brings some issues (like memory leaks, call problems) that can't be solved until the 5.1.1 update, so LG will probably be forced to push the 5.1.1 at some point in time. They can't leave their smartphones in a bad state for a last update.

We need somebody here to report they in fact received this update.
LG needs to push a new set of code for us to look at.
This probably isn't true, otherwise the forums would be buzzing right now.

outdated firmware

i'm still relatively new to this "having a non modded phone that gets official updates" thing, so the questions i bring up might be stupid
i've been talking to a friend that has the exact same phone that i have (galaxy s7 edge g-935F), his phone is on G935FXXU1APDH whereas mine is still on G935FXXU1APCD
phones aren't carrier locked/branded, exact same model, only difference being he lives in the UK while i live in germany
my firmware is months old too and even worse, according to this site ( http://www.sammobile.com/2016/04/26...-s7-galaxy-tab-3-lite-galaxy-note-5-and-more/ ) i'm supposed to be on a far newer firmware already, yet my phone brings up nothing whenever i manually check for updates (look for Germany (O2)(VIA))
does anyone know what is causing this because if i'll be stuck with the months old firmware, i'd rather root this thing and throw a custom rom on it
update: got sick of waiting and manually ODIN'd a much newer version on it, am now on G935FXXU1APEQ
by the way my battery life is a bit better now
Honestly, we went back to older firmwares for the battery life. Maybe your phone is telling you that might be a good thing for now [emoji23]

You could always just download the latest firmware and update the phone yourself via odin.

nope, still as stuck on APCD as ever
honestly by this point, if you're feeling lucky, you might as well just look into ODINing an update onto your phone by yourself
I am sticking to the APCD version now for 9 months or so. Did any of you with the same problem get an update in the meantime? If not, what would be the correct rom to be flashed?
I'm still on g935fxxu1bpjg UK unbranded!
Samsung is busy with S8 so please wait for one year...

Jeez. Luckly im in WETA Rom 10k update i dont think im planning to restore to factory just to move to 10p. I have the feeling LG will becoming like Samsung and the Knox system. Given the fact that they are already making the LG V30 to be more like the other flagships (no removable battery and all that) or we dont have to go that far, we can already see it on the g6. They are practically doing the same thing that samsung did. From Samsung galaxy s1 to s5 it was removable battery and there were some features that are not present anymore from the s6 to the present s version. Same thing with the Note series. Now if we take a look at LG, from LG G1 to G5 it was removable battery among other features that are not found any more from the g6 to probably the possible g version. Same thing happens with the V series. From V10 to V20 it is removable battery among other features that wont be found anymore on the V30. Rumors are there wont be a second screen on the V30 (and i thought that's one of the things that made the phone different from other flagships). But well... If they are making changes to external and some internal things to make it look like other flagships, why wouldnt they apply somethig like knox too new updates or for the brand new LG V30 about to come? . Lets see when the V30 actually comes out,
got the kdz for 10p update will upload in a bit

I might have the solution for root. But I need someone who can test it out for me.
If you are on "H91810p" and have your bootloader unlocked (if not I can tell you how to do it), let me know so that I can walk you through the steps. It going to be bit involved so not for first timers.

H910 to H915 OREO Easiest way...?

Hey guys... long time since i posted here. I still have my V20 H910 and i want to upgrade it to Oreo. ATT sim in phone will not show or allow any updates (says up to date) So i been trying to see what would the easiest way to flash H915 (All that ATT bloat gone) while still being able to use LTE? (Phone is now unlocked so i wont be on ATT)
I have been looking at all these guides but i seem to be getting mixed answers...
Can anyone point me down the right path? I saw somewhere that the H915 OREO KDZ is all you need while others say you need to root and patch the modem... So confused...
Appreciate it!
The only way is to install the 915 kdz with lgup and then root the phone with dirty Santa method. (install twrp, somewhere here in the forum) then you can flash the AT&T oreo.zip (also here in the forum somewhere) with twrp. You have to go with these two steps because there is no official oreo kdz provided by AT&T. Then your phone is absolutely 100% stock h910 oreo with no root and no failure message while booting . That the only way I know. I also did it. Goodluck mate! It's worth it. My LG V20 is the only phone I would say it was absolutely Worth it to upgrade to a newer android OS. I usually dont install updates on smartphones. My s9+ for example is still running with oreo thank God.

Thanks for the post - I was wondering, what would you say were the main benefits of moving up to Oreo? Up until I bought a few Li-Po batteries I figured I might as well give it a go as the battery life was SHOCKING anyway and I'd most likely end up selling the phone so I had nothing to lose, but now I've gone from 2-3.5 hrs SOT to 5.5-7.5 hrs and I'm really happy with the phone.
Like you I'm generally reluctant to upgrade phones as there do tend to be bugs that crop up and battery life can take a hit which, for me, negates the minimal gains I'd receive with the features of the new OS (in this case, the option for some camera mods in GCAM).
I've also started using a couple of App-only bank accounts so leaving my phone rooted isn't an option (I use them for travelling so I don't get charged for international exchange rates etc).

Speedier? Is it noticeable in general use?
I just looked up LDAC - I tend to go for quantity over quality when it comes to listening to music on the move (I travel for 4-8 months a year so I try and download as much as I can to my device to negate the impact of poor wifi).
Yes, I have GCam on mine but it's the later stuff, the "night sight" that I'm interested in and it seems that only works on Oreo

Ah right, so night sight isn't working very well for you? Combine that with the speed increase not being overly dramatic and I think my decision is made - thanks for your input, much appreciated.
But no, it's not because "I'm not a big tech guy" - I've been using xda for years - my first smart phone was a used HTC HD2 that I switched from window to Android and then had it running natively from the sd card I've had 3 Samsung's that have all had a decent level of work done on them, the reason I'm reluctant to root the V20 is as I mentioned, I don't want to risk the banking apps being screwed up or the battery life taking a hit .
For once I might just resist the urge to tinker to possibly make a phone that works well, work a little better and then running into all kinds of annoying issues!

Yes, I understood that, but there really isn't any reason for me to do that and upset how the V20 is working at the moment - I've NEVER had a process involving rooting a device go without a hitch (I must be super unlucky!) so I'll just leave well alone. If I had a second device I'd most definitely give it a go.

Hi, im thinking of doing this on my v20 that currently has LOS16 on it but the camera is not working and the battery life is horrendous. can you tell me if the hotspot works using this method, thats the main reason i changed from stock.
This is rather extreme to get a phone updated. If you are in the US, you just have to borrow or order an AT&T SIM to get your phone updated. This might even work outside US, but I don't know.
