Moto Display Issue - Droid Turbo 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys!
Just wondering what your guys with Moto display are? For me moto display comes on with any small nudges or vibrations, if I'm sleeping at night and I move an inch it'll come on showing the time. I suppose it's not a huge issue considering it doesn't use much battery but just seems a bit strange that it's so sensitive especially when I'm not actually doing the gesture where I'm reaching for my phone or anything. Has anyone had similar experiences?

Yep. =) I guess it's a very sensitive display?

LG G2 Display Issue

Hello dear Xda Forum Members,
two days ago i noticed a annoying Issue about my LG G2, im very worried and sad because the LG G2 is a fantastic Smartphone with a Monster Battery Power. Every time i tap on display it looks like i would tap on a TFT screen. I dont know how to explain it, the display do waves like i would press my finger on a led screen while its on, it look a bit like waves.
I asked in many forums now but no one noticed that kind of this problem yet. Its the second LG G2 where i noticed that problem.
Mostly i noticed it on darker background or some games and 100 percent screen brightness.
Sorry but my english isnt that good, i hope you guys can help me.
Thanks in advance

Yeah I'm not getting any ripples at all, on any background or brightness. There's something wrong with your phone if it ripples that easily. Maybe there's something in this thread that can help you
Ok thank you for your answer, the link helped me. I will RMA it tomorow.
My screen ha flickering issue, but it happens only sometimes. If I swype on the screen, or touch it it goes away, or it gets better. It is a bit random. Do you have any idea what can couse this? It is really annoying

Turbo issues problems complaints

Figured I would start a thread so we can share any issues we might have with the Turbo. Any defects or software issues etc etc... If your having a problem - post it!
Thanks guys!
Right off the bat I've noticed that my wifi reception is weaker than with my G2...
Yeah the WiFi reception on the Kevlar version is quite poor. Need to use it longer to see if this is a deal breaker.
I, too, have the kevlar version.

One of the most brilliant apps ever made is Moto Assist, particularly the "Driving" portion. You can talk or text back and forth without your phone ever leaving your pocket... all by voice. Very safe, both eyes on the road, both hands on the steering wheel.
I was in the Verizon store today looking at the Turbo and couldn't find Moto Assist preloaded on the phone. And furthermore, when I went to the Google Playstore to download it it wasn't available. Can anyone here confirm that Moto Assist IS NOT available on the Turbo?

I get my Turbo tomorrow but I played with it in the store today and noticed the 32GB ballistic was extremely touchy. I could barely scroll without launching an app or setting. They also had the red and black kevlars. Those 2 didn't have the same issue. I don't know if it was just me or what.
Anybody having extremely oversensitive screens issues?
Just got my Droid Turbo Ballistic Nylon today
I have not had any problems with scrolling sensitivity. Its been working great as far as that goes. I have used about 20% battery in 7 hours since it.
Only issue I have had with it is once when making a call it showed 1x when it should have been 4g in the city I was in and the person on the other end did not sound as loud and clear.
It did switch to 4g after I hung up. I cant wait till Lollipop comes out and hopefully will fix KitKat issues.
So far I really like the phone.
My ballistics screen seems to work better than my previous s5.no over sensitivity here.
My one issue is it seems like the display is always flashing the time. While I like that feature, seems like a battery killer always having the time flashed.
Having lagging issues with the front camera. Worked fine when I got it, now a few hours later it lags like hell.
Edit: Works fine now, hopefully it doesn't screw up again
Apparently no data and voice simultaneously. Didn't know but I'm OK. WiFi and voice fine. Love this phone.
Not a complaint but being mindful of large battery, i plugged in phone at 17% at 8:40. 10:27 and now at 96%. Im coming from LG G2 which is one of the quickest charging phones ive owned
Having previously owned a Droid Maxx thought slight heating would be an issue but it hasnt thus far which pleases me.
Great phone!

Comparing my Droid Maxx and Droid turbo, the Maxx is a huge winner in terms max brightness, min brightness, and ability to consistently illuminate the entire display. My maxx display color temp is warm; Turbo color temp is cool.
@ 100% brightness & a white jpg:
Turbo 420lumens-->517 lumens 23% variation darkest at the top to brightest at the bottom
Maxx 585lumens-->597 lumens 2% variation
*note: this was done with the identical Droid Maxx Red Pepper (ebay) tempered glass screen protector on each unit, so a small % of light was lost due to this but the % is consistent across all tests.
@0% brightness & a white jpg:
Turbo: 22-26 lumens
Maxx: 15-17 lumens
So it has the overly warm color temperature that some poor amoleds have? I can't stand the yellowish whites and was worried this phone would have that...
Very low volume on speaker and when making calls

It is warm but not overly. IMHO a Sammy phone is overly cool/blue.

I agree - coming from a Samsung this speaker is quiet!

That's something that I have a question about as well. I think it has to do with the Motion because if you wave your hand over the screen, it will turn on as it's supposed to. But it also flashes on when the phone moves a bit. I'm considering turning this option off.

Unfortunately, I have the same issue with the flashing. It happens continuously, all night long with the phone on the nightstand or sitting on a desk not in use. Seems like a bug.

Bought used X Force and have some questions

Hi everybody. Yesterday I bought a used Moto X Force and have some concerns about it. (Yes, noticed them before paying, but the price was appealing )
First of all, I think there is a missing top screen layer (or some kind of a factory screen protector) because there is a hole where the front flash is sitting. Can you confirm that it must be absolutely flat screen there? And if yes, can you recommend some nice thin screen protector (I am in Europe and will not have the patience to wait for it to come from China...)
The second concern for now is the screen colours. I have Moto X Play and the screen is much more bright than that on Moto X Force. When in Settings menu, the basic colour on Play is much more bright. Same is when I look same picture on the two devices. That is very, very strange for me. Plus, there is no COLOR MODE menu in Display Settings, that I have on X Play. Any thoughts about this difference in display performance?
Third - WiFi make some battery drain - it is on top of the list with 10% for the night. On X Play it even is not on the list (same settings).
Well that is what I have found for now. Will be glad to see your opinions here.
I confirm you that the screen should completely flat. If the last layer of the screen is missing you can buy a new one directly from Motorola.fr, .uk or .de (about 30€)
Screens colors of the moto x are not correctly calibrated, it's a known issue when compared to the moto x play/style
Wi-Fi drain is a also known bug of Android 6, battery settings shows it drains a lot but in reality it's the contrary, you can install app like BetterBatteryStats to confirm it
Send it back. You are missing a screen layer!!

Moto display and AMOLED

I'm coming from a '13 Moto X. Moto Display is one of my favorite features. With the play, it looks terrible when the clock comes on, and the whole background is grey.
Is there any way to only show when there is a notification?
Does it fade to black when you pick it up for anyone else? Like the loss of gyroscope means it doesn't know I picked it up to look, and if I'm too slow I can't get it to come back on without using the power button.
This and a couple other things that bother me make me want to go back to my '13.

1. Your Moto X used AMOLED screen. X Play, X Pure use IPS LCD. With LCD whole screen lights up, AMOLED only lights up pixels accordingly. The clock is the main interface for Moto Display, I would say it is not possible to adjust it to show only when getting notifications. You'll probably could turn off Moto Display and use an app called AcDisplay instead.
2. On Lollipop the timeout is too short and I always missed to touch it and ended up using the power button. With MM the timeout has been increased probably an extra second, it is better now.

Thanks. I know its IPS and I personally think it looks terrible with Active display.
I still think the time out is to short, and it doesn't seem to ever know that its actually in my hand. I'm going back to my 2013 model.

Horizontal Lines on Moto g5 Plus Display.

There horizontal lines on moto g5 plus display which can be seen in at perticular angle in direct sun light or artificial lighting conditon.
Some users have this issue and some not.
So is this normal or should i replace my phone.
And what is the reason behind this?
PLEASE HELP!!!!

This is not an issue bud. Your screen isn't defective at all. This is the limitation of ips panel. Some/very few users who aren't able to notice(including me) might have not good eyes like ur's
So don't panic. Just relax and enjoy this device

It's is not a issue with the device. It is some kind of sensors for Moto display.Turn Moto display off and it vanishes. This issue has been raised in one of the forums in lenovo , to which they replied that it is a sensor and not a display defect. So chill!
The horizontal lines are available in each and every device. The one who tells that they haven't noticed it, they might have not seen it properly. To see it you have to revise your geometry and have to see it at different angle under sunlight with hawk eyes.
I have noticed this on my G5 plus and it is normal (as in it doesn't hamper the functionality or doesn't imply malfunction).
See the photo
They are the touch sensor patterns. However, I also came across another G5 plus(one of my friend's) which has a different patterns (grids instead of horizontal lines) and they are barely visible even in bright outdoors.
The kind of sensor pattern you're talking about(only horizontal lines) are however, have more visibility, which kind of disappointing, and are hard to be unnoticed once you see them . So, there are two types of displays on G5 plus, and those who have the grid sensor patterns are the lucky few.
Thank you all for your kind reply.
I have the same issue... I dont like it but i want to keep the phone... Don't know if i want to return it beacause of this.
I was concerned about the horizontal faint white lines in my display. Thanks @williamj949 for explaining it's part of Moto Display. Confirmed that they go away if you turn it off. Good to know the display isn't faulty.
It's the digitizer's (touch sensing layer beneath the glass) grid.
Actually its been awhile since I've seen it on a phone (last one I saw was on Nexus 5s), guessing it's just the side effect of buying a medium-tier priced phone.
I'm. totally cool with it though, you don't notice it after a while.

It has nothing to do with Moto display, it will still be visible as it's a hardware thing
