Built in video calling not working? - Droid Turbo 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone have any idea why my video calls don't work? Every time that I try to start a video call, it tells me that I don't have strong enough signal (even though I can do anything else and have 30+Mbps download speed at the time)
I have tried with and without wifi, and I get the same thing.
Is this a setting issue?

I've never been able to get it to work either. I know whoever you're calling also has to have a video calling enabled device and your cell signal has to be absolutely perfect

Enable calls while on EVDO

Question for you guys,
I never noticed until my girlfriend tried to call me. I was streaming videos on youtube on my touch from Telus mobility and my line was just ringing, not going to my phone. Is there anyone that knows how to enable this? I tried looking online but codes for other phones like the apache dont work.
Thanks,
e
I was trying it out on my Bell HTC touch and it works fine (was on IE browsing and called my cell and it came through)
How exactly are you viewing the YT videos? Could be the application your using.
Im using TCPMP and flash media bundle. Found it on PPCGeeks
I don't think that the CDMA Touch can handle concurrent voice & data radios.
Meaning - it is either one or the other.
If you are browsing the internet, and a call comes through, it will drop the data radio and enable voice. Your example of the browsing and a call coming through is an example of this.
Try talking on the phone and then surfing to a new site in PIE. You can't.

100% true, it can do 1 or the other not both
definetly not true...my bell htc touch works while surfing the net, it just switches from the EVDO network to the 1X, and it doesnt just keep ringing...so im not sure about sprint but the bell service allows for them to b working at the same time...
good luck

NOT TRUE AT ALL! I confirmed (as you can see in my post above) that it receives calls even if your in between a data session.
I know on regular 1x phones they are not able to do this but this is a feature of EV-DO where it allows a phone call to come in even while surfing or using data.
To the OP, are you in 1x data mode or ev-do?
K so ive been testing it, while surfing and actually going through links and receiving a call they dont go through as well as streaming. But if Im on a page and not doing anything but reading whats on the page the call comes through. And I am on Ev-DO
From what I understand, if and when Sprint/Bell/Telus upgrades the rom to support EVDO Rev.A, then you can have voice and data concurrently. I find when I am surfing, it really depends on the timing of the call on whether it rings or not. If you are actively downloading data (streaming, accessing a page), then the phone will not ring. If you are just reading/viewing a page after it has fully downloaded, then your phone will ring.
Hi Guys,
I got the Telus HTC Touch about a week ago, and I went through the same thing. I called Telus's tech support as well as HTC's, I kept getting the run around; Telus was telling me it's an HTC issue, and HTC telling me it's Telus's issue, until I finally spoke to an admin in Telus' tech dept and he told me it's a know issue that will not be fixed anytime soon.
The only time this happens is when the data connection is "active" i.e. it's downloading something, so if you are streaming, the call will never go through to the phone, it will go the voice mail and your won't get a missed call notice on the phone. If browsing the net, and IE has finished loading the page, the data connection is "idle" and the call will go through.
I have read on a forum that there is a way to fix this by accessing the Data Programming screen using ##8323# and chaging the priority to voice from the default data priority, but I was not ableto access that with my phone.
I am still hoping to find a hack for this; for now I call-forward my HTC to my Blackberry when I know I will be using the internet heavily so I won't miss any calls.
TRY ##DDTM# thats how its done on my sprint touch

Ludester - can you try this again?
I know that if you are surfing and a call comes through - you can get the call and answer it. That's what I said in my reply. That's because the phone drops the data connection and enteres the voice connection. If you jump back to PIE - then your previous cached page pops up.
But, try calling your handset from your home phone. Answer it. Leave the line open. (you may want to stand a few feet away from your landline to avoid feeback).
Now, while you have an active voice connectoin from home phone to cell phone, Open PIE and try and start browsing to a new page not cached.
Does it give you a message?
My understanding is that Rev0 doesnt do simultaneous voice and data. Actually i dont think RevA will either, although capable by technology, Sprint's implimentation wont allow it. Only way to get voice and data simultaneous right now is use HSDPA on GSM it does both at the same time currently.
I would love to have concurrent voice and data. I just don't think Rev0 has that feature and don't believ ewe will see Sprint's implementation of this feature through the RevA update either. I surely hope to be proven wrong on this - because that is indeed a desired state for me.
just yesterday i tried going to the other way... while on a call, i tried to access live search to map an address. the call was disconnected.
today i tried to launch internet explorer while on a call and i get a message to 'end the current call... blah, blah'
I'm on Bell and I was streaming music to my phone today and a call rang through no problem.

Same here on Bell.
I was streaming music on EVDO network. When I called my Touch, it started to ring. At that moment music streaming stopped and Touch switched to 1X network. When I ended this conversation, Touch switched back to EVDO and music streaming resumed automatically.
Cheers,
Romek

For voice as priority should it be enabled or disabled? Sprint Touch.
i believe that all issues with cellphone internet blocking or being disabled when one recieve a call is purely an issue
with old and poor quality equipment of the cellphone operator in the area

You have to call, on a telus touch, ##778 and you gotta have your MSL code to edit things... But I haven't found anywhere that priority you're talking about...
I thought EVDO Rev 0 (like the one Telus is using for now) cannot handle data and voice connection at the same time... It is different for EVDO Rev.A, I've seen that on wiki I think
I had this problem until I realized I had changed my settings to "Force HDR" mode which only took advantage of EVDO.
I changed it back to Automatic switching (at the expense of battery life, however) and tested it out by running Sprint TV and having another phone call and it worked.
I checked the ##DDTM# and it was already disabled.
I've had the same issues... including the girlfriend being pissed off because her calls always went to VM. The problem is related to what network you're using.
The link below explains in details what networks allow both data and voice at the same time:

Touch HD calls dropping

Just got my new HD, and I have to say very good phone, apart from a coupld of issues.
1) When out and about driving my phone calls cut out, I beleiev it's when the phone is switching between 3G and GSM. I phoned orange and they have asked me to select GSM only under the Settings>Phone>Band Thats all good and well but I can;t then use my 3G connection
Wondered if anyone has any tips or suggestions or has the same problem?
2) Can't lock my device by pressing the End call key when I have auto password timer set. There must be a way to enable both these options at the same time?
Thanks for reading, please help if poss, or at least let me know I'm not alone with these issues.
Logicalstep
I dont know if it's exactly the same issue but I've noticed that mine (Orange UK) occasionally misses calls even though there appears to be some coverage. it hasnt cut out on me, though.
It seems to be something to do with the 3g functionality and I was wondering... is there an easy way to switch it on and off? i rarely use it on dataconnection so I dont mind keeping it on gsm/gprs but want to retain the ability to connect to hspda or other when necessary.
Is there an easy fix?
Doesn't sound like the same issue, but you can disable 3G by going to Start>Settings>Phone>Band and selecting GSM in select network type.
This will disable your 3G connection. If you wish to use it again you'll have to reset it to auto.
Logicalstep
Anyone know if there is a way to stop the phone from switching between 3G ans GSm while in the middle of a call?
I know this should be an obvious thing for the phone not to do, but mine seems to be doing it.

BUMP* Anyone?

Can't receive calls while listening to internet radio?

I searched around and was unable to find an answer to this.
When listening to streaming radio either through Last.fm or streamfurious I can not receive phone calls? If anyone calls me it goes directly to voice mail. As soon as I stop internet radio calls come through again.
Does anyone know of a way to fix this?
Thanks in advance.
Doug
If your not on 3G then it is because you are using all of your 2G service. If you use 3G then you can use it for data and internet and 2G for texts and calls.
Someone correct me if I am wrong.
Bleh, wrong thread. Delete plz!

Not knowing exactly how our phones carry the signal for internet and voice calls that seems like a logical answer to me. Huge drag for me though I love turning on internet radio in the car and piping it through my system. Even on 2g it sounds and streams great. But the lack of not receiving calls I suppose I will have to stop that habit lol. Who knows when 3g will roll out in my area...
oh well. Thanks for the info.
Doug
It's true that it's impossible to use data and voice at the same time on 2g, but it's the app that should pauze itself for an incoming call. Or Android should have been able to do this! Atleast that was the case with my last phone. While checking something on internet, call display appeared on incoming calls and browser disappeared. Call ends, browser reappears.

Well maybe it is something that just has to be change with the current internet music streaming software. I have tried three different ones and they all do this so it doesn't look good for a pause feature when a call comes through.
I have no idea how hard that would be to add to the current software. I suppose if you had 3g you wouldn't worry about this but as we all know, T-Mobiles 3g coverage is lacking.

Sim card disappears after 2-4 minutes when making calls with VoLTE enabled

My v20 drops all calls between 2 and 4 minutes in, and usually around the 3 minute mark. The call drops, signal goes to zero, and a moment later I get a toast message saying "Loading SIM card contacts..." and then I can immediately dial back in.
WiFi calling is disabled, though the setting being on or off doesn't seem to make a difference. I've cleaned the SIM card and added tape to the back to ensure good connectivity - no change. I also went to T-Mobile and they replaced my SIM on the spot but it immediately happened again in the store and in front of the clerk when we tried a call. They've suggested a warranty exchange.
One interesting thing I've found though is that disabling VoLTE calling fixes it entirely - it no longer drops calls, but of course there's no HD voice and I can't use band 12 and they're already cutting back on HSPA coverage.
Haven't found anything else useful via Google or XDA. Even with VoLTE enabled there are no data drops, VOIP calling via hangouts works fine. Anyone have any ideas short of a full exchange? Not rooted and while the LG backup app is pretty good, I really don't want to go through the day-long process of restoring everything if I can avoid it.
Hey there! I had the same issue, exchanged the phone for a new one, and STILL have the same isssue! Did you ever find another fix? This is so annoying and I cant believe a bigger deal isn't being made of it.
Something wrong with ur
operator

Been owning V20 for about 5 weeks now. The first 3 weeks were pleasant until I started seeing dropped calls. Disabling VoLTE did not help. Changing sim card wouldn't help either.
I'm having similar issues H915 Freedom Mobile.
Was roaming on AT&T in the US when I first did the update. And everything was fine till I was home and on Freedom.
When Wi-Fi calling is enabled. It makes no difference if mobile preferred or VoWIFI preferred is selected. It enables either way after reboot or turning Wi-Fi adapter off and on again.
Incomming calls frequently don't come through regardless of whether vo wifi is on or off. Texts same problem. And persists sometimes on cellular and sometimes on VoWifi.
Get SIM errors, signal drop constantly. And have tried everything I can think of to rectify the issues with zero success.
Anyone with Freedom having similar issues? Or any suggestions I might not have thought of that may be the the cause?

Wifi calling - inconsistent with 8.1 Oreo - T-Mobile

I'm finding that WiFi calling stops working randomly. A reboot gets it to work properly again. I have my advanced call settings on Global and Wifi Preferred as my option.
Anyone else having this issue with Oreo 8.1 and T-Mobile?

I've had this issue since I upgraded to 8.1. I've been planning on doing a factory reset to see if it fixes the problem, but I really don't want to go through the hassle of setting everything up again.
I have no cell signal at my desk at work, so I use the WiFi calling often. However, I have noticed something rather strange. If I try to make a call or send a text, it will sometimes say something like "No WiFi network available". There have been a few times after it has done this that I have received a call on WiFi, and then it will work fine for a while. Otherwise, a restart fixes it.

Another thing that I noticed is that when on Wi-Fi calling, sometimes the phone will only ring once before a call goes to voicemail. Seems like there may be a delay in the call coming through. I generally have a good Wi-Fi connection, but like any Wi-Fi connection, it can come in and out occasionally.
I want to avoid a factory data reset as well.
I have the same problem Essential on Sprint
I am also experiencing this since the 8.1 upgrade, 8n T-mobile. Multiple networks that had WiFi calling pre-update are no longer functioning on either of our phones(wife and I both have them). I often work in a basement, so this is an important function for me.
