huawei p8 lite ALE-L04 Lollipop 5.1 root - P8lite Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried to root huawei p8 lite ALE-L04 Lollipop 5.1 . The bootloader has been unlocked successfully. I followed these :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/step-step-guide-to-unlock-bootloader-t3150616
http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/development/testing-twrp-2-8-7-x-huawei-p8lite-qcom-t3187758
http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/video-bootloader-unlock-root-custom-t3213616
But I cannot get into recovery mode., either by ADB command or volumn + power. Whenever I tried it, I get into the fastboot screen. I did flash the TWRP, but I cannot get into recovery , so I cannot flash supersu zip. Please help me.

If I downgrade to kitkat, do I need to unlock the bootloader again?

yes, if u go back to kk you need to unlock it again
type adb reboot recovery, it should reboot into twrp

I tried adb reboot recovery, it still goes to fadtboot screen (saying connect usb, and connect to PC with hisuite). If I unlock bootloader after downgrade to kk, is it the same unlock code that I used before ? Thanks

yep same code

Can you provide the link that you used to download? I have downloaded and flashed twice successfully, but can't get TWRP to respond to the touch screen.

Thanks, that screen touches were very erratic, but enough persistence enabled me to flash Super SU and achieve root.

touching screen doesn't respond at all... anyway, I'm able to adb shell as root, and therfore gain full filesystem access...

Strange. I flashed the same twrp.img, installed Supersu.zip from the internal storage, and rooted the phone. The twrp touch screen is responsive for me. So I am keeping this twrp recovery instead of re-installing the stock recovery.
The only thing I have to get used to is the keys to boot into twrp recovery are "vol up" and power buttons.

Is it the same as the unofficial method for bootloader unlock? also is there a way to relock bootloader like flashing it again over MM Beta?

According to @shakalaca, the restore process get back to 6.0 ifwi. After the unlock, the droidboot stay at .184 alright.
What is the status of your device before unlock, rooted or unrooted? Can you flash the twrp provided by him ?

flashed back stock recovery and factory reset for another attempt...lets see
Works good to me. Miss that step where I supposed to pressed vol up button and phone stuck on white splash screen. Force off and then go to bootloader, then execute restore.bat and done. After that root and exposed and then I mess up some another stuff so need to flash 6.0.1 MOFD_SDUPDATE manually from stock recovery. Everything pass smoothly but root and exposed framework disappeared obviously. Root and exposed again no problems
cannot flash custom roms???
Hi everyone,
I successfully unlocked my bootloader from MM beta, I successfully flashed the recommended twrp recovery, I successfully flashed rom and gapps but when I reboot the phone goes back to twrp recovery. Anyone else facing the same issue? Or is it impossible to flash custom roms?

how can i flash a stock 5.0 rom from the recommended twrp? I tried to do that but it doesn't work. Do I have to flash a stock 6.0.1 beta rom?
It worked perfectly!Thanx a mill!
Can't flash TWRP although the splash screen became white after unlock.bat -> unlocked
After restore.bat the splash screen went black as usual. Then I flash the recommended TWRP. But when I choose recovery mode in fastboot, it reboot to fastboot. When I adb reboot recovery in Android OS, it reboot to stock recovery. Can anyone help me to solve this problem?
I'm running .69 MM beta, I replaced the .54 fastboot image in the package with .69 one. Does this effect the unlock state?

Now, if we can unlock stock 6.0, can anyone confirm me if we can directly flash custom roms without downgrading to 5.0
after running restore it worked, however when running unlock.bat, I get permission denied and the device goes tinto bootloader bootloop, and I had the device rooted and bootunlocked already in lollipop, I wonder why that happens?

Request for information: Update rooted Honor 7 on 5.0.2 TWRP recovery to 6.0.1

Hi. My phone status:
PLK-L01
PLK-L01C432B180
EMUI version 3.1
5.0.2
rooted with TWRP boot recovery.
I'm looking for steps to update to android version 6.0.1 without losing all of my data, and keeping phone rooted and same recovery.
Is this something which is possible?
The only steps I have found is to how to replace stock recovery to update OTA.
I expect I would then need to root phone again afterwards.
Is this the recommended way of updating, or can I manually perform the update safely, and are there tried and tested instructions for this?
Many Thanks in advance for any responses.

Completely unroot from settings menu in SuperSU app, Download latest firmware that is B380, use Huawei update extractor to extract stock recovery from update.app which you will get by extracting firmware, flash it in bootloader mode.
Copy update.app to dload folder in SD card, turn off your phone. Press and hold power, Vol up, vol down until a reboot. Let go of power after booting but keep other two pressed for five, six sec more.

Hi. Many thanks for the prompt response.
That all seems straight forward, I just have one step I'd like you to confirm, if you would, and an additional question:
"flash it in bootloader mode"
So, after unrooting the phone, I will still have TWRP recovery available to use?
And, once I am at latest 6 firmware, do I need to use something like SRK Tools to reroot, or will SuperSU app still be installed and able to perform the re-root?
Thanks,
M.

After the unroot, the twrp recovery will still be there. You need to replace it with stock recovery by flashing it in bootloader mode, only then you can upgrade.
After upgrading to 6.0 you need to flash twrp again (in bootloader mode) and then flash SuperSU 2.62 (in twrp, for a root). Don't flash any other version.

Thanks for the support.
OK, I'm going to leave it for today, and try again tomorrow.
Basically, I go through the steps to flash the stock recovery but can't complete this first step ;
By the way, there are 2 files in the update.app - recovery.img and recovery2.img. Does it matter which one I use?
And does the header file need to be in the same location, or can that be ignored for this step?
Anyhoo, after flashing via command line, and then do the final 'fastboot reboot' the phone just goes into a continuous boot loop until I interrupt by holding down all of the buttons.
Am I doing something wrong here?
I seem to remember I had this same issue when I first got the phone and was trying to get TWRP recovery installed using this method, and can't for the life of me remember how I got through it
@hoodoo_mc
you have to use recovery.img for the system recovery partition! >>> fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
recovery2.img is for the e-recovery partition only!
the header files could be ignored!
But you should flash the boot.img also! >>> fastboot flash boot boot.img >>> because SuperSU has made some changes to your boot partition!!!
to be absolutely save, you should flash the system.img to prevent other problems at last! >>> fastboot flash system system.img
If you use the B380 file to update, you will not loose your data! But it could be clever to backup your personal data and your files with the HUAWEI Backup app!
Good Luck!

I can no longer boot into EMUI on my Huawei Honor Note 8

I unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP. Everything was fine. I put SuperSU.zip into the phone, booted into TWRP, installed SuperSU.zip, and then selected wipe cahe/dalvik before exiting. Now I only get the erecovery. I then did a factory reset within TWRP and now I just get the Chines erecovery. Is there anything I can do?
Thank you
edit: I can see about 2GB of data in my system folder as well as others. It looks like the EMUI is there. My phone just doesn't know how to boot to it.
edit 2: I was able to sideload KangVIP but I'd rather have the stock ROM. Does anybody know where one is available?

How did you install TWRP if you only see the erecovery?
My adb was working earlier today, but now, when I "adb reboot bootloader", it just says "error: device '(null)' not found"
EMUI isn't loading now.
That last thing I did was run "flash_all.bat" in "EDI-AL10-C233B027_6.0" from https://mega.nz/#!VRN2AICD!HqTY2ai1XAl-bOoCFW_YfBoyhOr6GhoiWXL68l7QNhg

Yes I unlocked the bootloader. I think when I went back into TWRP, ran the SuperSU.zip file and then wiped the cache/dalvik, that's what did it. Before I did that, after I unlocked my bootloader, I was able to reboot and boot back into EMUI no problem.

Thanks, i tried method 3 first but it failed (i have an unlocked bootloader though), so then i tried method 1 (i had twrp from meticulus already installed) first went to install only the update.zip in twrp, it failed, but when i rebooted, the phone is now updated to emui 5. Also my build number is now the test keys nonsense, but that happened to me before and i know how to fix that.
Thanks, your guide worked.

I installed an update.zip from a video about downgrading to Emui 4.1 with the hold down all buttons method, and the test keys thing disappeared, but it wiped my whole phone and installled a version of Emui from a different country I think because everything was just different.

Install TWRP for Nougat, e.g. this one:
3.1.0.2
Install it over eRecovery with command
fastboot flash recovery2 xxxxxxx.img
Copy to the SD card the second file - hw_eu.zip from B370.
Boot into TWRP, click WIPE, then FORMAT DATA , after REBOOT SYSTEM.
The smartphone will start rebooting: as soon as the technical menu appears on the screen (yellow warning) press and hold Volume Up up to 3 sec, and here you are in TWRP again.
Click INSTALL and flash update_data_full_VNS-L21_hw_eu.zip.
Reboot into stock Recovery and do factory reset.

Does that mean I'm missing the second (smaller) file? Okay, I'll try it. Thank you!
