[Q] Charging battery for the first time

Hi, I got my Defy today. I put the mobile for charging 2 hours ago. I'd like to know for what period should I put it for charging as it is the first time for optimum performance of the battery..
I tried searching the forum for a similar question but didn't find any. Please delete this post if it is a an already answered question.
Doesn't matter. May be charge it for some 2 hours more. You can't overcharge the battery - it has protection. For optimum performance, just don't drain the battery to 0%, although it has protection for this too.
Ok, thanks, its already been 2 hours since the battery reached 100% mark. Will stop charging now.

Although it is generally said that a new battery should be charged for at least 8 hours before use, it may not be necessary. Just fully charge it. However, the capacity may be lower and unstable at first. If charged too quickly, just take it out and reinsert it, and connect the charger, again.
What I normally do is charge it till 100% and disconnect.
Then every month, I'll use up the battery till it shuts itself down, turn phone off, charge it till full.
Any other time, will plug into mobile charger whenever I'm in the office till it's 100% and use it thereon.
Both answeres after mine, are for the old nicd batteries. For liion batteries it is bad to overcharge and discharge to min. Anyway, as i said, there is soft and hard protection for this, so n.p.

Under NO CIRCUMSTANCE!!! I MEAN NONE! that you allow ur batt to goto 0% or you will be effed royally by Defy. I and many others faced this. If your battery is like 15% you either charge it instantly by USB or if you have no means then just turn it off and charge in wall charger when you go home. Just don't ever let your defy goto 0% battery because if it does, you like me and many others will be stuck to M logo or white LED ****.

your lucky bro! don't do that, i was like you all naive and my defy was fine until one day, that happened to me. It didn't turn back on when i tried to recharge it only White LED or M logo.
I didn't even do any flashing or rooting of any kind on my defy then, heck i was on 2.1 eclair. So, be careful and heed my advice or one day you will regret it like I am now.

Use juice defender for added improvements from first day.. i get 2x boost , to save those extra bits when most nedded .. as for ur question , you need to calibrate your battery in order for it last longer
I advice u to charge 100% + 2hrs , and then discharge it to 10% or lower Without charging it in between !,

Replacement Battery - Capacity Problems

Hello guys,
After more than 1 year I thought about buying a new battery for better battery life. I just did it and here is the problem: the capacity which my phone shows is totally wrong. The battery percentage jumps from 70 to 85 and from 85 to 100% during charging in some minutes. And it drops from 100% after plugging it off the charger to 88 or 85%. It is really curious. So I thought maybe the new battery is damaged and I ordered a new one. But I have the same problem with this new one. OK, I thought maybe it is just a displaying a wrong value but this new battery is lasting less than my old battery. Is there a way to calibrate the new battery to get a real full charge and right values?
Thanks and regards

Usually you want to condition a new battery by charging it all the way up to 100% and wait about an hour with it still on the charger. Then completely discharge the batter until the phone shuts off. Perform these steps two or three times and you should be good to go.

NO. There is no need for this. Evidence and experiences from other N4 users has shown that discharging till it shuts off will cause a red light of death brick. I advise not to follow such a method.

This is also not entirely true.
I have let many times to discharge totally till turned off and only once I have experienced the red light, which disappeared after charging.

Are you kidding me! So you're telling everyone using a Nexus 4 that they should never take their phone off the charger for fear of getting the red light if their phone goes dead? My phone goes dead all the time and I don't have this issue. Sure the phone won't turn on right away after putting it on the charger from being totally dead, but after it gets some juice back in the battery it works fine again.

[Q] Defy going mad

I had bricked my defy MB525 and bought a new battery since the old one was inflated. After installing the battery I managed to flash the Eclair T-Mobile SBF but after that the bootloader read "Low Battery Cannot Program". When i plugged it into the charger I got a screen with a battery and a ? in it. When i connect it to my PC it charges, switches on and then dies after 10 mins. The cycle keeps repeating. The bootloader and stock recovery don't work. When i pushed battery calibrator it read 5% and 3119 mV just before it dies every time. At first it was at 3254 mV. My question is how to get the phone to charge to 100% so i can calibrate the battery since it keeps discharging after bootup.

I think your new battery has a problem and can't charge (i'm not sure), you should ask for a new one where you have bought it .

i thought new batteries, genuine or not, don't come fully charged? you were lucky to even able to flash the sbf with the little charges it had. a better idea would be to buy an external battery charger in my opinion.

New Alcatel IDOL 3 (4.7) with a fully drained battery

Recently i bought Alcatel Onetouch Idol 3 the 4.7 version from Germany in which its battery was completely drained right out of the box.
Is it OK ?
The battery will work properly after a full recharge ?
Why not charge it and find out? Batteries do discharge slowly when not in use over the course of time, so its very possible.

I too noticed it today. I kept my device in charge but it charged slowly. I just unplugged my charger and rebooted my phone. After that my phone charged 31-40℅ in 5 mins.
I hope it's a software issue and can be fixed with an update.

It's get affected by ambient display temperature. If the atmosphere around ur phone is hot. It'll take more time to charge to control heat on device. And vise a versa when ur in cooler place it'll work normally.

Once reboot your phone and give it in charge. If still it does not charges quickly then factory reset(if you are willing to do so) your phone and check it.
If still the problem remains just replace the product.
Yesterday I changed my phone from 14-100% in 1hr40mins.

No absolutely not. We are paying for that feature(fast charging). The reason is that if you use fast charger the device tends to heat(every device). To control excessive heat (45-50°C) the device stops fast charging and charges normally.
And due to surrounding temp the charge rate might differ by 10-15 mins. But in case of Moto G5+ the device temp remains around 40°C so device must charge quickly. I think their might be some software issue. I have check my device more and confirm it.

Yes for sure. Here in Kolkata its around 32-33°C and last night I charged my device it took me 1hrs40min.
Do a factory reset and check whether you are experiencing the same problem else just click that return button ?

Really its too fast. Even OnePlus 3 charges in 80mins with it dash charger. I think Lenovo(moto) did claimed that the phone charges in 90mins.
Have to do more research.
