Convert APK to Windows 10 Mobile App
While there isn't a straight forward method to convert the .apk, I suggest that you try to decompile the .apk into its source code (try decompileandroid.com). Then import the source files into the project astoria development tools and try compiling the app and verifying whether it works.

Reason for that is that this program (ALP) nearly only supports IMEI´s changes for Mediatek phones. And the S2 does not have a mediatek chipset. See the developers manual:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B8L36-jO45mmN0ZwOGNBOWpqcWs/edit
page 5: IMEI
IMEI number of only Mediatek phones can be changed with ALP. According to feedbacks
received, the result cannot be achieved with all types of phones but is worth trying.

Get APK installed on unsupported devices with SD Card support

AOW ends in 10549. Sad news.
NOTE: This is for Windows 10 Mobile not Android.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: I have confirmed that there will be still no AOW files if you are upgrading from 10166 without AOW files EVEN IF you have changed your device model in the registry. But those who have got AOW files in 10166 could upgrade to 10152 with full AOW without bothering to change the device model again.
Update: Thanks to @augustinionut. Many people are saying that what matters is actually the developer enhancement update. However my Lumia 1320 didn't get that update before I try this stuff. And some people reported that their devices which are excluded in the support list didn't get that update either. So I am now wondering if there's a way to change registry in Windows 10 Mobile using the same way in order to get the update.
It's really fantastic to see Microsoft allowing developers to deploy apks directly to their phones. However, the existence of the supported device list really upsets me for I've got a Lumia 1320 which is not included in the list. I checked my AOW folder and there were only two files. But just at yesterday, I suddenly had an idea that we might be able to get full AOW by modifying the device model in the registry just like how we did when we were trying to update to build 9941. And after a whole night's experiment, I made it.
Before we start, let's take another view at the supported device list:
•Lumia 920
•Lumia 925
•Lumia Icon
•Lumia 830
•Lumia 930
•Lumia 1520
•Lumia 635
•Lumia 730
•Lumia 820
•Lumia 435
•Lumia 928
•Lumia 640 / 640XL with build 10240
•Lumia 1020
//NOTES: The support list above doesn't seem to be official and it seems to be incomplete. To check whether your device is really supported, just see if there are about 100MB size of files in C:\Windows\System32\AOW. To access C: on phone, see this post.
So generally speaking what we need to do is to change our device's model into one of those listed device. For me, I chose Lumia 1520.
NOTE: SD CARD IS NEEDED.
Steps:
1. Roll back to Windows Phone 8.1.
2. Change device model:
2.1 Unlock your Windows Phone 8.1 device using Windows Phone 8.1 SDK.
2.2 Deploy CustomWPSystem in to your unlocked phone using Windows Phone 8.1 SDK. Install "Preview for Developers" from Store.
2.3 Copy CustomPFD into your SD card.
2.4 Launch CustomWPSystem and install CustomPFD as how it is described in that post.
2.5 Now launch your modified "Preview for Developers", locate to HKLM\SYSTEM\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo:
I changed these values:
PhoneSOCVersion 8974 (I suppose that the availability of AOW might be related to CPU model so I changed this. Dunno if it is really needed,)
PhoneMobileOperatorName 000-GB (For I'm using an UK 1520 model name.)
PhoneManufactorModelName RM-937_eu_euro1_231
PhoneModelName Lumia 1520
NOTE: IF YOU CHANGE YOUR DEVICE MODEL INTO 1520 ON SMALL SCREEN DEVICES, TEXTS WOULD BE EXTREMELY SMALL. SO HERE I ALSO PROVIDE DATA FROM LUMIA 830. I HAVEN'T TRIED MYSELF BUT SOME PEOPLE SAYS IT WOULD WORK:
PhoneSOCVersion 8926
PhoneMobileOperatorName 000-HK
PhoneManufactorModelName RM-984_1000
PhoneModelName Lumia 830
YOUR ORIGINAL INFO WOULD COME BACK AFTER RESETTING.
SO NO WORRIES.
Now, all you need to do is get into Windows Insider Fast channel and update to Windows 10 Mobile.
I have confirmed that those AOW files won't lose after resetting and updating. So feel free to reset your phone and your original model name would come back automatically.
Feel free to ask questions. It's the first time for me to post such long thread and my mother language isn't English.

I personally suggest to wait for the next build since it's probably coming in a few hours .
Try this if full AOW is still not included in it.
I have un interopunlocked lumia 640 xl, wm10 build 10166.... I changed using pfd custom registry editor 005 variant( vcfan dlls) those registry from above, updated from store the windows insider application...and updated the system from setttings-update phone.
I have dummped aow.win with including GAPPS, but, how to put back to System32/aow/ ?? any possibility access??
P.S: I think C:\ directory also have read-write access, not read-only access. Because we can make New Folder at there and edit some png images (directly using photo viewer) then save again in same folder.

[Q] Somethings to know about windows 10

Hello, i would buy lumia 640 ( i always use android) but before i buy it i would know somethings :
1) can someone explane me better about how to install android/ios apps on lumia 640 wp 10 ? I had already surf on the net but i don't understand if i can install apk or i need to change something.
2) I had read that instagram is a beta version on microsoft store, so can i install the android app (apk) on it ? if yes, how i can do ?
3)can i directly install app from play.google.com ?
1) http://forum.xda-developers.com/win...w-to-install-android-apps-windows-10-t3174629
here you will find everything too know about installing A-app's on a lumia.
2) installing yes, i am not 100% sure if it will work for the 100%, howto: read 1.
3) nope, only manual installation/sideloading for the A-app's
Thanks for the reply.
In the link that you posted lumia 640 is not present on the list of supported device, then i can't use it. Do you know if it will support 640 ?
the developer of the tool says that it can damage the phone but it doesn't be 100% safe considering that it's implemented by windows 10 ? Or we will wait an official tool by microsoft ?

Doubts with Using Xamarin to develop Android App

Hi All,
We are developing Android App using C# with Xamarin.
I have task to integrate existing C source with App developed. This done by loading corresponding *.so.
Sorry in advance if these questions are naive....
Questions:
1 > I am using Windows. To generate the *.so what is the suitable IDE? Can the windows be used to generate *.so(static object)?
2> If I were to go with Eclipse , Do I need to install the plugins like SDK ,NDK etc...?
3> Do I need to care for processor architecture's , If need to compile the source?....I mean cross compilation
Thanks

I'm not sure if I understand you question but I assume you want to extend an existing app -build in C# using Xamarin- with native android Java?
I'm not sure that's even possible. Xamarin is utilizing mono for android to create android (Linux) executable files. When decompiling my own Xamarin build apk with APK Studio I did see the mono .so libraries, but my own code was compiled. Referenced .Net (Windows!) dll's where added to the apk. I assume the mono libraries deal with how they are used in the compiled C# code.
Since there's no quick conversion I see a few options:
A - Change the Xamarin/C# android project to a library project (dll). Compile it using Xamarin and find out (google) how to utilize this dll using mono for android in your Java development environment (eclipse). There are mono .so files...
B - Convert the Xamarin/C# source to java source code. There are some commercial tools which claim to be able to convert C# to Java. Go java all the way.
C - Stick to Xamarin/C#
I think option A will lead to lots of headache assuming you referenced some .Net assemblies in your C# source. However it might be worth a try. Though keep in mind that if you keep using the Xamarin/C# part, you keep needing the Xamarin license to upgrade/update code in the future.
I would go for either B or C depending on the codebase. If it's a lot of code a Xamarin license renewal might be cheaper then a rewrite (conversion). In my experience code converters are reasonable tools, but I've never saw a one-click conversion happen. There's always extra work to make the converted code even compile.
In conclusion: Mixing Xamarin/C# and native Java code might be technically possible, I would rather make a choice for either one of them.
I can't answer your questions about eclipse and required libraries, but I hope my answer is of some use.
Regards,
Alex

Something close is possible, You can install Appx File.... It's the Universal Apps : there might be some that have be converted from android to Windows phone.. Just google Appx Downloads and see if you can find something he wanted. If so, that is what is possible. The previous : A Older version of Windows on the phone had a special file/command, whatever you wish to call it. """Bash""". It allowed Linux to run on windows. Sadly they removed this, it would give programmers to do things Microsoft did not want to happen.

I think what you meant was sideloading apk using adb in W10 build 10149 . The Exploit which allowed more or less sandboxing of Android app. It Ran the basic Android Apps which didnt have much dependency on Google Play services and more in use by Project Astoria. That means if an android app that required the GMaps plug-in would crash in W10M. Well that's basically not possible now as they removed the Linux Subsytem. You cant install Android Apps now on Windows 10 (btw Nowadays which dev is spending time on Lumia devices? ) I dont think there would be more development of Windows 10 mobile in future as they have shown that Full blown Windows 10 would soon run on ARM devices which has SD835 or more( Just think SD835+6GB RAM+LQS)That would be amazing. But Microsoft Doesnt have the Required no. of Apps in store (Admitting, UWP was not a great success) and enough market share. But dev's like @feherneoh and @banmeifyouwant have done great thing in porting Android to SG Lumias. :cyclops:
feherneoh said:

Atleast if the perfomence if fine on SD835 soc , I Mean more than 2.5Ghz and enough page memory, I Think running or emulating Android apps would be smooth. Moreover if its full fledged Win10 the bootloader stuff Etc. would be easier to unlock and build Android for that. Yeah as you said we have to wait and see.
Yeah, Connectivity is major barrier on L52X Android Ports. If you guys could solve that, L52X Android port would the topic of debate and hopefully open the doors for future development. Good luck with connectivity though. Anyway you guys have done a great work on dead Lumias
