Is GPS broken? Please help! - HD2 General

For the first time wanted to make use of GPS in my HTC Leo. However it desn't seem to function at all!
Tried on many (installed as NatveSD) Android ROMs, and also on WM6.5 "Energy" which is in the NAND.
Please, any idea?
Probably a hardware problem. As I remember: few years ago changed the mainboard and maybe during this procedure forgot to connect some cables or sth simillar...
However now I hardly remember even how to open the phone's case...
Please provide with some schema, how to disassemble the HTC Leo and where to look for GPS module!
P.S. The phone's whole other functionality (except GPS) is perfect!
---------EDIT:
Video instructions from here helped me to disassemble the phone, however GPS module and its cable look well. Well, what to check next?
In general, HOW to TEST GPS module hardware from within working ROM? At home it is rather hard to catch satellite signal through the window...
HOW LONG need Leo's GPS hardware read pure sat signals (without internet support)?

Dual applications on single GPS

Hi guys,
This has been something I've been trying for a long time (since I first got my Wizard nad now my hermes), but to no avail.
I've got TomTom 5 and the 3dtracking software from http://www.3dtracking.net/home.aspx, both of which work very well on their own.
However, trying to get them to work together is a nightmare.
I've tried franson GPS gate in the past, but found it very tempremental and I'm loathed to fork out 15 quid to do something that my device should handle anyway.
I've enabled the GPS control panel, no problem whatsoever, chosen the appropriate hardware and software ports in the GPS control panel, set up an outgoing port in the bluetooth settings, told the PPC to manage my connections automatically, told TomTom to use another bluetooth GPS on the appropriate software port and told 3dtracking what software port to use and bob's yer uncle... nothing happens! (Good grief, that's a hellishly constructed sentence! Sorry!)
Anyway, has anyone successfully got this to work?
I've tried a number of combinations of ports etc., and also follwed about the only guide I could find on the net, but nothing seems to work.
Your help would be appreciated!
Adrian
Any thoughts guys?
What version of GpsGate have you tried ?
The product has developed very nicely; I am using GpsGate with 3 applications using the GPS signal at the same time without problems at all.
Martin
Hi Martin,
Thanks for that. I've not used version 3 to be honest, it's something I might give a try in the end.
I'm by no means averse to paying for a piece of software, but it wrankles me somwhat when the device is supposed to do something on its own.
Is there an inherant problem with the control panel function, or something that can be fixed do we think?
Thanks,
Adrian
Hi!
I got the same problem over here.
Trying to use Navigon MobileNavigator 5 and POIObserver via the built in GPS-panel. BT-GPS is a NaviLock BT-338
Thanks

question about using GPS with the TYTN

Hello
I own an HTC tytn, and I want to do the following:
record a video from my car, with real-time GPS coordinates being printed at the bottom of the picture.
Can a combination of some GPS receiver and tytn do this ?
Thank you
The problem won't be the GPS receiver, but the camera software. The build-in software can't do that. And a third party software would have to support the TyTN camera.
You can record the video with the phones camera (note the time you start recording), and be running a GPS message recording software. then you can use a video editor software in your PC to spuerimpose the text (gps coordinates) in to the movie.
ok thanks -- I think I may just splash out on a video camera with built-in GPS (not cheap), unless the HTC device with built-in GPS (Artemis ?) somehow does it ...
Silly question, why do you want to do this?
Depending on your answer you may find www.mp3car.com an interesting place to vist.
I am working on a large building site, with structures only partially built.
I am trying to show the status of the project to clients by taking a film of the site as it is now, with exact GPS location shown at all times
I woulf then be able to relate exactly what is shown on the film to a modelisation of the fully completed project that we already have.
A
Fair enough, I saw the Car mentioned and thought you migt be trying to have a video black box in your car, a common idea and one that is being acheived by putting a PC in your car. Hence the link to www.mp3car.com.
I wish you luck in your seach.

gps not working - solution

hi. i want to share with you my fight with xperia gps.
One day my xperia stop receiving data from satelittes. i do hard reset, reinstall rom (different types), install new radio and nothing...
i found many topics about gps - how to erase ephemeride, how to fix quickgps, etc., and nothing. so i get to suppose that this is hardware problem.
i check web for solution and i found how to reassembly xperia
http://pockethacks.com/xperia-x1-disassemble-videos/
next thing to do was to remove gps antenna and little bend back springy connections. then i reassembly all and now it works!
maybe this tread help someone. cheers!
where is gps antenna?

Can bluetooth to mobile, but not to GPS unit

Dear Group, having aquired a standalone GPS unit i decided to resurrect my HTC Wizard.
I upgraded it successfully to the WM6.1 (Manilla UI) (forgive me if the details are a bit thin, i'm new to this)
Anyways, the Wizard works perfectly, much faster than before.
But there is one odd issue, I can bluetooth music and files to any mobile phone that i choose, and visa versa, but i cannot connect to the GPS unit.
I even tried borrowing a GPS unit from a chum, but to no avail. The wizard can see the unit, i enter the password, and the bluetooth light shows for a few seconds, then i goes out again, it's very frustrating.
Can some kind soul shed any light on this please?
Many thanks
Maybe a different ROM might be the answer, what do you think chaps?
Nope, thats not it. I tried a different ROM but the effect is still the same, the GPS bluetooth light shows for a few seconds then goes out again.
It's realy frustrating as i know that it worked before i changed the ROM. I'm sure somebody must know the answer.
Maybe as I've changed the ROM it's also changed something with the Bluetooth, i wish i knew more but I've come up blank with the search facility. It's odd that i can pair with my mobile phone but not the GPS.

I try a lot and i was on the road but i see nothing. I 've tried and the "advanced configuration tool" but nothing works.
Try different GPS software. For example iGO 8 or TomTom.

I had simular problems with no sat's so I did the silver foil trick and it works perfectly every time.
I also have the extended battery and had very limited, if any sat's locking at all even if I drove 60 miles it may it may not lock any sat's during that time.

is that the genuine one you got - or just a generic extended battery. I remember reading the generic one causes GPS conflicts.
