VoLTE support for MOTO X Play - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
Please let me know if VoLTE supported on Moto X Play, for Indian 2300mhz band.
Or any Custom ROM/IMS apk available for Volte support

One user asked this on Motorola forums.
And the answer was "VoLTE is carrier specific. I would doubt the phone*will support this. The phone will probably need a software update to support this after the carrier finishes its VoLTE roll out."

hi, Thanks for quick reply, some of the Mobile vendors are already pushing VoLTE updates in India, hope Moto also starts rolling out OTA soon

I'm with Three in the UK and VoLTE is only supported via Three carrier updates pushed to phones supplied by them.

Hi, I am using X play with jio sim and am able to make VOLTE calls apart from data usage. I would like to clarify your doubts. VOLTE is Voice over LTE. It does not need special hardware. If your fone supports LTE, then with a software patch or an app, it can make VOLTE calls. As for me, I am using Jio join app to make calls. Also using VOLTE you can place calls for other operators that donot support VOLTE. You can even call on landline numbers. This is achieved by using IMS systems which act as an interface between our VOLTE operator and the traditional circuit switch network of any other operator. I hope that brings in some clarity.

T-Mobile VoLTE, Voice Calls with OTA MM ?

Last I saw, it appeared that OTA Marshmallow 6.0 on Moto X Pure Edition had voice call problems with VoLTE enabled, on T-Mobile.
The workaround was to disable VoLTE (Disable "Enhanced LTE"), to maintain good voice calls quality.
Can anyone offer info on whether this is still a problem with OTA MM, T-Mobile, and VoLTE?
I'm staying with 5.1.1 until I see this resolved, either on T-Mobile end, MM, or maybe with a fix to some offending component or app.
TIA...
Please everyone let Motorola know about this bug so that they will fix it.
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Moto-X...l-audio-after-MM-upgrade-w-VoLTE/td-p/3239629
I read that thread a while back. My conclusion was there was insufficient resources when the screen off when on VoLTE. I'd think using a kernel manager with a custom kernel would let you set a higher cpu speed with the screen off, or maybe enable more cores to be available.
There still no fix for VolTE voice calls bug on this phone?
No fix. Motorola/Lenovo is basically ignoring us. You can see this in the long running Motorola support forum thread. Kernel change does not help as it has been tried already. Moto sucks.
That's a bummer. I think I'm going to return it before I loose the window. My last phone was an LG G2 and the VoltE worked flawlessly. It is sad that a newer/better specs phone is worse in that area than a 2013 phone.

If I downgrade to KitKat the bug will still be there? Or maybe use another modem/radio?

KitKat does not exist for this device. Lollipop does not have the VOLTE bug. But you will loose band 12 LTE.
I don't think this is a Lenovo issue. I'm on AT&T and pretty much they only support VoLTE on their branded phones. Blame your carrier, not the phone. VOLTE does work on Verizon as I know two other people with this phone on VZ and once they got MM update, it worked.

I don't want to jinx myself but I have had my XT1575 (US) since October but recently switched to T-Mobile from VZ. Although my bootloader is still unlocked, I am running stock 6.0 (24.201.3 - Feb Security Update) and have had zero VoLTE issues (even on VZ it worked fine once enabled on my account)... Still no Wifi-Calling (on either carrier) with my XT1575, but HD Voice works great when calling another T-Mobile VoLTE phone (HD icon appears and voice quality/audio range is noticeably improved).
Not to state the obvious, but have those of you with VoLTE issues go into the hidden "testing" menu and made sure the VoLTE Provisioning Flag was set to "ON"? Access the Testing menu by entering these keys from the dialpad: *#*#4636#*#* and go under Phone Information then scroll down...
Also, make sure you have the T-Mobile LTE APN (Access Point Name) configured and enabled (should be auto-provisioned as "T-Mobile US 260 LTE" but if not the APN is "fast.t-mobile.com" and there are instructions for manually configuring their APN on their website).
Hope this helps.

It really doesn't matter if you upgrade the phone from Lollipop because VoLTE didn't exist on the phone until the Marshmallow upgrade. If you have problems with calls you can turn VoLTE off which is what you have now.

It does if we want to make calls on LTE band 12 as this band only supports VOLTE for voice.

I think you misunderstood what I said. VoLTE was not added to the phone until the Marshmallow upgrade. If you are still using Lollipop VoLTE doesn't exist.

Your move from VZ to T-Mobile may support it is a carrier thing. Perhaps because your phone was already provisioned to with VOLTE on VZ, it carried over. I know the phone supports it, but let's face it, U.S. Carriers seem to hate not having control (especially AT&T). Any means to keep features limited unless you use their branded devices is one more control they have.

I understood what you said. But band 12 opens up a larger coverage area. Without VOLTE calls do not work on band 12.
One thing to note is that if the screen is kept on the jitter goes away. So it may also be a power management issue. We have already tried disabling power management on call services. But it did not help.

I am not disputing the fact that you need VoLTE to make calls over Band 12. Fortunately where I live in the Boston area T-Mobile pretty much operates exclusively on Band 4. So if I start having call problems with VoLTE enabled I can just turn it off. However, if I was still on Lollipop and in areas of the Country that use Band 12 exclusively I would not be able to make any cell calls using T-Mobile, since VoLTE was not enabled on the phone until the Marshmallow upgrade.
I would like to be able to blame T-Mobile for the problem but unfortunately this doesn't seem to be the case. Other third party phones like the recent Nexus phones, the Axon Pro, and the iPhone 6s and 6s plus all seem to have no problems making voice calls with VoLTE enabled. In my case I have noticed that the static problem does not occur with every call. It seems to come and go on an intermittent basis.

I think we all agree that Moto ignoring the issue is the worst part of the situation. I don't think they have even acknowledged it as a problem yet. There are a lot of things about the phone I like. However, at this point I would never buy another phone from Motorola. All phones have minor bugs. However, this is a major problem.

Reliance Jio Sim getting no Network on OP2

Hey Guys, I just got a reliance jio sim from the Samsung Preview offer as my brother have a Samsung phone. The problem is I tried putting the Jio sim in OP2 but it's not showing up any network. Is there anyone else facing the issue with Jio sim in India? I am on 21/07 Cm13 nightly with Boeffla Kernel.
Edit : Issue resolved. Please close this thread.

No Idea mate, it's really frustrating that OP2 doesn't support VoLTE. You can use JioJoin for now for VoLTE for Reliance Jio.
any solution to "No signal" for relaince jio

The promotional offers are devices locked, if you use Lyf, Samsung, LG, SONY, etc. Well the Reliance JIO demo card works completely with all features on my OnePlus without any issues.

Well all our phone support ONLY 1 Sim 4G data enabled at one instance, Whilst Reliance works on only 3rd LTE Band on 4G Network (so it can't access to no 2G, EDGE or 3G Network). Hence when you enable 4G data on Vodafone or AirTel, they used the same. Hence you lose Reliance JIO Network on the phone. But when using the non promotional sim cards, they work just fine. So its just something to with promotional sims.
Cheers'
So basically the promotion lock means I can't use 4g data on my OnePlus 2 ? I just want to download stuff man ! Is there no way to bypass that crap ? perhaps a using a editor for build prop? make the card think its a different phone ?

That's the reason they have also released an app called 'JioJoin' in PlayStore.
For devices without VoLTE support, calls are placed using Mobile Data by JioJoin.
what about CM 13?

Wait for some time or use JioJoin app.
Apparently there's a quite long and therefore expensive procedure to certify a phone for VoLTE, and most probably Oneplus won't do that for the OP2 now when the OP3 is out and certified for it. So I would keep my hopes out, either switch to OP3 or show your displeasure by buying a phone from other maker.
Well, there is a new app on the playstore but the Jio team, which would activate all services on the phone, but I guess this uses data services to route the voice calls. I'm yet not to sure about it, how it works. But I can come back to you on the same, if you wish to know more about it.

Myth buster- Lenovo A6000 plus supports VoLTE or not?

Hi Guys,
I am bit confused that Lenovo A6000 plus supports VOLTE or not. As per below mentioned official link our phone's chipset support VOLTE feature.
https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon/processors/410
So can anyone tell me that if there is any particular solution to enable VOLTE feature in any LL based ROM (Since LL officially supports VOLTE)?
Or is there any particular is ROM is there which have VOLTE feature?
The best to find out that if our beloved A6000 supports VoLTE is that you put a R-Jio sim in slot 1
Then turn on LTE data connection
Wait for it to connect to LTE
Make a voice call
If the call is happening then A6000 supports VoLTE or else not.
This is the best and fool proof way of finding out whether a device supports VoLte or not.
afaik, our SoC supports the VoLTE feature but not the hardware that is responsible for connecting to networks. I could be completely wrong but that's what I read somewhere.
In other case, our most deserving devs would've surely commented on including this feature in their new updates, roms.
im using a jio sim in my a6000 1GB version on ED300 CM13 and everything is working fine.Used the jio4voice app to do both voice and video call.
Without jio4voice will you be able to call?
VoLte doesn't work even after enabling it in the settings.
Screenshot
volte needs ims enabled tree xD we have trees that belong to parohs on Egypt
Without the app nothing happens.

Many carrier function like volte won't work without that carriers firmware installed. On top of that , if the carrier doesn't have an imei number associated to your account that has these functions it won't work either.

Airtel Volte

Hey guys, I hope you are all doing well, I just noticed one thing particularly regarding with Volte, we all know our device is not received any Volte update from Airtel/lenovo, but I think, I fixed the problem simply using jio sim as first sim and now when I call or receive any calls from jio/Airtel I am getting crisp sound, which infact just average before putting jio sim. My question is, Is I am just hallucinating or it does work I need confirmation, maybe some one try and update me
No Airtel volte in Moto g5 plus
Moto g5 plus does not have airtel volte. If you are using internet (4g) through airtel and during this if you receive a call then your 4g network will be automatically switched to 2g. Only during calls due to absence of volte update from lenovo. They patched this issue in the lower E series with a security update but nothing for the so called mid range Moto g5 plus.
