Lenovo a6000 - Lollipop or KitKat ? - Lenovo A6000/Plus Questions & Answers

Hello, im with Lenovo a6000 (not plus) and now im with Kraft S040. Before few days my Lenovo search new upgrade - Kraft S058 KK2L. I want to know who OTA is better S040 or S058_KK2L. I want to know what problems has the latest version (S058) And what is better than S040 ?

Lollipop is better than Kitkat. I have tested using antutu, kitkat's score about 20K, lollipop's score about 23 K.
BUT, we have problem with battery in lollipop. I think it's because of the kernel. in lollipop, when we are using our phone, all cores always reach middle until high frequencies. that's why I'm still using kitkat. Now, I'm using MIUI 7 ROM using custom kernel (MoStock by chhapil).

Stay with kitkat. It's fast and stable. My Lenovo a6000 is very slow and lags a lot since the update to the damn lollipop.

Can you share your kernel.
As the mostock kernel doesnt work with miui without changing ramdisk.
I have a6000 plus.

This kernel use MoStock kernel version 1.25.
I use MIUI 7 from MIUI website for Lenovo K3 K30-T.
For reminder, this is not flashable zip file, don't flash using custom recovery. Use fastboot or 3rd App like Flashify. Important!

Yup, My device is Lenovo A6000 Plus.
The performance is great. Not too smooth, I think it's because of the ROM.
Battery life is great too, I get about 1 Day 3 hours on normal use.
The charging speed also good, I just need about 3-4 hours.
You must change kernel settings using Kernel Adiutor.
This setting from chhapil:
CPU: Min freq 200Mhz Max 1200Mhz Alucard Governor with default tunables
Hotplug : Alucard Hotplug
Battery: Fast Charging ON
IO Scheduler: FIOPS on both Storage with read ahead of 1024Kb
Misc: Congestion Control: Westwood

After installing mostock kernel some text on ui is not visible.
I mean there are glitches everywhere. Like clock and battery percent stopped showing.

I have tried MoStock Kernel (I forget which version I used) on CM11 based, but it has a bug, you can't use WiFi.
I'm not sure if this bug still exists on latest MoStock Kernel. But if you want to try, please send me boot.img file from cm11 that you'll use.

Please share boot.img from cm 11 first because I need the ramdisk (not all cusrom has same ramdisk). So, for safety you must send me your boot.img.
Or you can do it by yourselft, just googling about "porting kernel". It's not complicated at all.

[TRICK] DualBoot GB ROM and ICS/JB ROM

Hello...
well i dont know if this may be useful for anyone or not but if u want to run both GB and ICS/JB in ur phone, this is for you..
not actually a dualboot but its slight modification
all you need is
1.a kernel supporting dualboot ( siyah/dorimanx for ICS/JB)
2.a kernel which runs GINGERBREAD rom
3.obviously ur GB and ICS/JB rom
NOW
flash dual boot kernel in recovery mod
install ur ICS/JB rom as second rom and
GINGERBREAD rom as first rom(skip if already installed).
now for running ICS/JB , reboot and select second rom
for running GINGERBREAD reboot in recovery flash kernel supporting GB rom.. boot.. it will boot to GB..
again for running ICS/JB reboot in recovery flash dualboot kernel and boot second rom.. it will boot to ICS/JB
i know its quite complicated but may be useful till someone discovers something better and more useful..
if this seems crap mods/devs can delete this thread

What's the point flashing a kernel 3-4 times a day, and why.. WHY would you want to stick with GB? Move on. CM9 and CM10 are stable as f***. If you got problems with them, then you're doing it wrong.

Sorry bro.. this thread is not for u.. i do have installed ics/jb.. they r good but still some apps and games run well on gb as compared to ics or jb plus gb has better ram management plus better battery i know siyah gives more than 1 day battery usage with ICS but its more than 2 days for Gb.. miui gb is more stable than miui ics or jb which get updated weekly .. i cant flash weekly with updates then again create restore backup apps messages contacts call logs etc etc..
And flashing kernel 2-3 times is lot easier and takes less time than flashing gb and ics roms over each other..
Btw i dont think many of us dual boot rom more than one time a day..
Thanks a lot for this information.. I've been searching for this information..
But I've a question..
Your Steps :-
1. flash dual boot kernel in recovery mod
2. install ur ICS/JB rom as second rom and
3. GINGERBREAD rom as first rom(skip if already installed).
4. now for running ICS/JB , reboot and select second rom
5. for running GINGERBREAD reboot in recovery flash kernel supporting GB rom.. boot.. it will boot to GB..
6. again for running ICS/JB reboot in recovery flash dualboot kernel and boot second rom.. it will boot to ICS/JB {Now, Do I have to flash both ICS and GB ROMs again.?? Will the information of kernel about 2 ROMs not be lost..???}

So this should work with any jb rom that works with siyha or dorimax such as pacman or jellybam? I've got remoras last 4.7 gb rom and love it but I want to try jb but it looks like it reformat the file structure and you can't easily flash back a gingerbread rom once you flash jellybean. So if this works it would be an easy way for me to try jb. Thanks in advance.
you should flash uboot to the kernel partition (search on xda for uboot for the true multiboot) on the i9100 forums and configure it to ask you what kernel to boot
(i would do that)

The solution would be to repack the boot.img with the updated ramdisk from CM... To get a new boot.img and flash it and see what it does..
Just a FYI
Kernel + ramdisk = boot.img
If you get me this kernel you are flashing I could make you a new boot.img...
Let me know

Want to unleash my s4 capabilities

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum, but I followed you without being registered for a long time. My name is Joseph and I currently own a Galaxy S4 I-9505. This phone served me very well in these 2 years, but now, with the decayed warranty, I want to unleash the full potential of my phone. Profiling my phone I found that frequency drops to 0.92 Ghz on the CPU and 200 mhz or sometimes slower on the GPU. Obviously with that thermal throttling, games and apps starts to lag, and this is upsetting... I want to flash a new recovery and kernel, but since my last flash experience was 3 years ago on my Galaxy S2, I most likely lost my touch
I need a recovery (wanna make a nandroid) and a kernel for my version of Android. I read around on the forum that TWRP or Philz should be the best option, is it right? And which kernel compatible with TW should I go with? I need it to support overclocking, voltage control, and thermal limits control.
But my biggest concern is: I am currently running a previous version of stock TW Android 5.0.1, rooted without flagging Knox (counter 0x0 but I don't care anymore), but in the .tar file I flashed was lacking bootloader file, so I am stuck on older bootloader. Should I upgrade the bootloader to my rom version before I flash recovery and kernel? Anyway here are some screenshots of my system:

if you want to overclock you'll need to leave touchwiz and go AOSP 5.0 with ktkernel. performance is better without tw anyway and it's better to be without knox !!!
TWRP is more user friendly and compatible for flashing. you should be OK with your bootloader and baseband for now.
Updating bootloader isn't a necessity.
TWRP is the recommended recovery.
There are 2 kernels that support overclocking: Hulk kernel and KT kernel. Both haven't been updated for a long time. KT kernel is actually discontinued because the dev switched to the S5.
My personal recommendation for android 5.0 roms is KT kernel. Download the KT gaming profile from within the app and you're good to go.

As @3mel said, you better leave Touchwhiz if you want more performance. I haven't had any Touchwhiz roms on my phone since the stock rom it came with.
If you want Android 6, go for JDCTeam AOSP 6.0 rom. It comes with alucard kernel. It doesn't have overclocking but it's the best 5.1 and 6.0 kernel so far.

I currently don't have enough time to follow a rom installation... So I just wanted to try a different kernel on my current rom, to upgrade later to a custom rom. So I just wanted to modify at least thermal limit now, to game more smoothly. And still looking for a kernel which allows me to do it, with currently TW obviously.

I never used the kernel cleaning script. Wipe dalvik and cache before flashing the kernel.
Most kernels come with their own app. If not, install one manually.
the kernels I've looked at have all suggested wiping cache and dalvik after flashing. other users here have suggested using hawkerscore script bundle for it's kernel wipe when switching between kernels so that's been my habit of recent...

i think that the kernel cleaning script in the imperium kernel post work in the same way, when do you launch the script? before or after the kernel flash?
Run the script BEFORE flashing the kernel.
Gesendet von meinem SM-T705 mit Tapatalk
Kernel cleaning scripts only delete files that other kernels left behind.
Meaning it is only useful if you changed a lot of kernels.
I don't think there is any point in using the script if you come from a stock kernel.
But I didn't develop the kernel. So if the dev says it is mandatory, who am I to second guess him.
I've finally flashed the kernel, but I have some problems with intelli thermal control. In fact even if I set the thermal throttling start temperature to 80 degrees, the thermal throttling starts at 60 degrees... Here is a screenshot of Stweaks

Best rom customization for lenovo a6000 users!

Hey guys,
I'm confused for ROM selection.
Suggest me best ROM and kernal which will gives me long battery backup & performance too
Which is based on MM OR LOLLIPOP.
NOW, I installed BEANSTALK ROM based on MM,with GOD KERNAL R2. which is good for performance but high battery draining problem.
Give battery saving kernal for this ROM or " SUGGEST "
THANX IN ADVANCED
SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH
kitkat
I think stock kitkat v4.4.4 is better for battery backup
But im on lollipop
How to go back on kk
Give me tutorial.
Or suggest another rom
Thanx
Try CM13 XOSP this is best rom for me, best xperia design, best smooth performance and good battery backup i recommend for anyone
I would recommend you to use telo mokee ROM with phantom r7 kernel. It has great battery backup of 1.5 day on general use. Also fast charging helps to charge phone from 1-100% in 2 hrs. No bugs or lags noticed....

You can avail the max. battery backup along with very good performance on CM11 (by techolaty and thread by sourav_8434 heron xda) which is based on KK. To flash that, first you'll have to flash stock KK.

Yeah, you can try that. But, if that doesn't work, try TWRP 2.8.6.0 and CWM recovery.

try to change the fonts in the system folder.
copy the fonts file of any lollipop rom located in system/
and replace it in the mokee rom
Try Resurrection Remix v5.7.4 (Marshmallow) or v5.8.0 (Nougat). Battery backup is awesome on both, so there is no real need for custom kernel.
what about camera

camera work properly or any noise
Resurrection remix 5.7.1

Settings not opening in miui v8 6.6.23

After flashing miui v8 I flashed gods kernel simultaneously. Everything seems to work fine but settings does not opens. After clicking it just closes....it does not even shows up in recents.....plz help
do the clean install
in twrp wipe data, system, dalvik, cache - then reboot again in twrp after this wipe
then do zip install
Probably because of gods kernel,it overclocks the cpu and changes the frequency, usually in settings it says quadcore 1.2 ghz and now it just forcecloses because of the different frequency.
Had a similar problem with the vibe ui 2.9 rom.

If you dont care about the android version,go with cm11 or carbon kitkat.
Anyway, with phantom kernel the battery life is the same on cm12.1 and xosp 6.0.1 .Cm12.1 is bugless right now, when on the xosp there are minimal bugs.MIUI 8 is also really good. You can try Resurrection remix M 5.7.0,too.

Look at the section for roms and kernels, they are easy to find. For all lollipop/marshmallow roms use phantom,if you choose miui better stay on stock kernel or go with telo. For cm11 and carbon kitkat,I believe there was a kitkat version of phantom, google it,its somewhere in xda.

Rom doesnt matter, but just a clue, kernels dont work well with miui and other non-aosp/cyanogenmod based roms.
