Motorola XT1563 seems dead - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys.... I have a Motorola xt1563 dual sim. A week ago I was trying to flash my phone with this rom:
XT1563_LUX_RETCA_5.1.1_LPD23.118-10_cid14_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml
But unfortunelly doesn't boot. The display only show me a text:
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (Secure)
failed to validate system image
ERROR: Failed to pass validation, backup to fastboot
Fastboot Reason: Fall-through from charger boot mode
My phone is not unlocked and no root.
I really don't know what to do, anybody can help me? Any idea?
Thanx a lot....

Aldo.
I do it, I try to unlock this device but nothing happends.
(bootloader) Check 'Allow OEM Unlock' in Developer Options.
FAILED (remote failure)

Do you have any other idea? Thanks, man.

I assume you have a mexican or brazilian XT1563 the firmware you used is not made for it. I looked around and found a file factory page
http://www.filefactory.com/folder/dd05c058d3ff8dbe/?sort=created&order=DESC&show=100&page=1
My BLIND guess is
XT1563_LUX_RETLA-IUSMX_5.1.1_LPD23.118-6.2_cid12_subsidy-IUSMXLA_CFC.xml.zip
this based on the IUSMX (which I assume means U.S and MEX)
Again it is a blind guess so double check, then triple check and proceed with caution.
not sure if I can actually link out to another page if not mod let me know and I'd be happy to take it down. Otherwise I have previously stumbled upon some forums in Spanish and Portuguese which point to the right firmware. I'd suggest look into those as well.
As usual google is your friend.
Hope it helps.

hey Joeanca....
I read your comment and that's true I have a Mexican XT1563, I will download all the firmwares and I try it, thats interesting.
About your blind questions.
IUSMXLA means
IUSACELL (name of the cellphone Company)
MX means Mexico
LA means Latinamerica
I will do it with caution, but let me explain you. I even downloaded the original firmware from motorola's webpage and also follow the instructions but nothing happends, the phone still show me the bootloader options with this message.
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (secure)
failed to validate system image
ERROR: Failed to pass validation, backup to fastboot
Fastboot Reason: Fall-through from normal boot mode
I'm not sure what's happening. And you say it, google it's a great tool, but I have a week searching for a solution but I can't find it.
Thanks for the advice Joeanca. Have a nice day. And if you know any other idea please let me know.

Go to About Phone in Settings.
Then click build number 6-9 times until it shows 'you are now a developer'.
Then go to Settings > Developer Options and select OEM unlock.
Then unlock you bootloader.
Flash a custom recovery (TWRP).
After that root your device.
And finally flash a custom rom.

Hey Sid.X
When I turn on the phone only shows the display in recovery mode, unfortunelly I can't do it all con can say. And the phone can't load Android, so that´s the problem. I can't find the solution because my phone is not working. I try to install the original rom from motorola's web page and nothing happends.
The phone also is oem locked and never root, and I buy it 2 months ago.
Do you have any other idea? Thanks for the advice, I hope somebody can help me.
All comments will be wellcome.
Thanks anyway, have a good day.

Hi, cybergonvergalarga.
You could fix your cell phone? I have the same problem.
Thank you

how were you flashing RSD LITE or manually??? dis you flash bootloader. bin and gpt.bin ??

if you have the bootloader blocked even have guarantee of purchase go claim it...

about warranty thing...they are saying motherboard is locked...they have to change it...which cost too much...also try using RSDLite...I am having same problem but RSD Lite could not recognise my device...Try fix it through varizon wireless repair assistant...If that doesn't work too let me know which version of firmware you were using before you did this to your phone.

Can you, at least, boot in stock recovery mode? If you can already boot in fastboot mode, you can use volume up and down keys to toggle between all the options, toggle it until you see "Recovery mode" and then push power button. Your phone will reboot in recovery mode and an option to do factory reset should be there. Stock recovery is less powerful than TWRP recovery but, it if you have a hard time installing TWRP, it could be another solution.
OTA possibly flashing, pushing the sd fastboot

hello
I have the same problem but with the bootloader unlocked and when I try it, it comes out failed remote failure
i have done a month research and found this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRa97F14RKE&app=desktop
it's not in english thou u could make use of the links in the description not the video. even i had the same preflash validation failed error with an bootloader version 81.12 with bootloader status 0 on my xt1602. just flash it like u flash a stock rom. the reason for our error is we still didn't have the proper stock nougat 7.1 rom for our device. roms available in the internet are not working but this one works. be sure not to downgrade your'e phone and take an ota coz. the bootloader can't be downgraded and when it installs an older ota boom phone is bricked. make sure u flash some blank flash files of harpia before doing this. first u need to soft brick ur device from hard brick that have occured
my issue with xt1602 appears to be incorrect (I can't really properly comment on this) blankflash - I get stuck with 0x69 CID and phone suggests using verizon tools (while the phone is just RETIN originally). At this rate I can't re-hardbrick the phone into Qualcomm loader (qloader for "qboot" tool to work) so I can't even flash stock rom provided in Your, @keerthi perumal, link. So I am currently at a real loss here with non functioning device. My only hope is that someone actually helps to re-hardbrick device - No combination of fastboot commands (and different versions of adb&fastboot) to boot into "edl" (fastboot reboot edl) worked for the thus far.

Bootloader loop - unable to unlock bootloader

Dear All,
I have a Problem with my Moto X play XT 1562. I have brought it a year back.
For some strange reason, My phone stopped working all of a sudden.
when I connect it to a PC via USB I'll get a boot-loader menu which says "StartUp failed Please connect the phone to a software repair assistant on the PC". Though I have figured out the problem I am unable to do anything about it.The problem is simple yet complex at the same time,
Problem: Though I have rooted many android phones previously, I never rooted this one. So My boot-loader is locked. I have got the Unique unlock key from Motorola site But when I get to this commad
HTML:
fastboot oem unkock [MY_UNLOCK_KEY]
I get an error message saying "Check 'Allow unlock OEM' in developer options". But my phone is not booting so far so that I can check that.
The basic problem is, My phone's OS is corrupted and I am unable to boot a new OS to it, As the boot loader is locked, I am unable to unlock the boot loader because I have not checked on 'Allow OEM unlock'. I am unable to check 'Allow OEM Unlock' because I The os is corrupted. - (This looks like a riddle )
1.Is there any way I can either bypass this?
2.Is there any way I can check 'Allow unlock OEM' using fastboot or any other tool?
I have tried the following already,
1.tried to clear user data and cache with fastboot - Still remains the same
2.tried to flash a recovery image even though the boot-loader is locked - No Use.
3.contacted service centre just to realise that I have to change the PCB which will cost me a new phone!
Can anyone of you please help me out with this.
Thanks a Ton in Advance.

You can still flash the firmware that is meant for your model/carrier without unlocking bootloader. run getvar all command in fastboot to determine what firmware exatly do you need if unsure.

Connect your phone in fastboot mode and type this command:
Code:
fastboot getvar all
in output look for this:
Code:
(bootloader) ro.build.fingerprint:
It's the firmware version that you currently have on your phone. Download exactly the same one and you'll be able to flash it with bootloader locked.

You've got instructions in this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...de-how-to-flash-factory-image-return-t3261486
Mind that you'll likely have more system.img_sparsechunk files, so make sure you flash all of them (just change commands accordingly).
Guys I had no luck in doing that.
When ever I try to flash the contents of the stock os, I get a error message which says Pre Flash validation failed.
Can any one help me please

Your emmc ship is corrupt. That means your whole storage is broken and not fixable.
But i am able to flash some of the contents of the stock ROM. I get this "Pre flash validation failed" error only when I try to flash some of the files like (system.img_sparsechunk.0-9,recovery.img and gpt.bin). I even tried to reset the emmc_chip, I says that the command was succesfully executed.
Is there any other option left??
I am fighting this battle since a week now.

In my case I had. 52 version of the ROM. I had a locked bootloader boot loop. But I was able to fix it using rsdLite. Are you using the latest version of the firmware and connecting the ports at the back of the pc? Also install proper drivers
You need to use RETASIA DS, the most recent version

Same problem over here... Did you solve it?
Downloading right now the latest rom image for Moto X Play from this site.... //firmware.center/firmware/Motorola/Moto%20X%20Play/Stock/XT1563/
Hey install Fastboot files and download twrp image for Lux and place it in the Fastboot folder.
Then run :- Fastboot reboot recovery.img
It will boot to twrp.
Any update for this? I'm in a similar situation now :-/
Tried RSD, it doesn't see my device (fastboot and adb works fine)

My phone it's blocked into huawei start screen

Hello,
Yesterday when I Wanting to charge the battery of my phone, it's suddenly turned off, and since it is stuck on the startup screen..
I have traveled dozens of French forums in search of a solution, I come back to you now because I am a little desperate
As for my phone, he was never rooted, and I never change firnware, I do not have access to recovery, there is only fastboot mode that works
In the fastboot mode, i can read "ap-s-abnormal-n/a et phone locked frp lock".
If I understand correctly, I can not flash my phone because it is blocked..
Please help me
Do you have Access to the huawei E-Recovery? Try doing a factory reset there.
Or try to unlock your Bootloader with ADB, Flash TWRP and then Flash a customrom or another Firmware.
I hope I was able to help you.
Greetings from Germany.

I don't have access to the recovery mode too
I tried to unlock my bootloader but to no avail, all of the flash commands are concluded with a "Writing **** FAILED", and ADB does not recognize my phone
Thanks for the reply !

With pleasure but how ?
When I try to do this in fastboot i have this
Code:
... FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)
My only solution at this time is DC phoenix unlocker but i'm not sure about the fiability, and I don't want pay for this..

can't relock bootloader g7

Can't relock bootloader with
Code:
fastboot oem lock
fastboot says boot.img is not signed
I tried the boot img from PPO29.0114-16-5, PPO29.0114-16, and PPO29.80-61. All it says are unsigned.
Now system update says this (screenshot attached):
Head on over to https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds101291 and download the tool, after installed put your phone in bootloader/fastboot mode and go through the rescue steps up until the firmware is downloaded, do not click rescue after the firmware is fully downloaded just head on over to C:\ProgramData\LMSA\Download\RomFiles and open the downloaded firmware and take the boot image from there and copy it to your fastboot tools folder and flash that boot.img check that the firmware matches the version installed on your phone before flashing the boot.img.

Yes.
I tried this and when I flashed boot.img from LMSA I got `(bootloader) Image signed with key bad key`
And then on the last fastboot oem lock command I get `(bootloader) Still require signed boot.img`

It worked!
The trick is to run `fastboot oem lock` 3x (not 2x) before flashing boot.img, and then run `fastboot oem lock` one last time after this is done.
Who would have thought?

I will let you know Im in the same situation as you. I unlocked the bootloader to root my device. But after trying what was available couldn't root my device. Not even patching the boot.img with magisk as the tutorial says. It didn't worked for me and it soft bricked my device so I decided to go back and locked the bootloader but this is the first time that I have an issue locking back a Motorola bootloader I don't know what moto did this time but things don't work as before. Im downloading the firmware through this tools and see if its any different to the firmware available at lolinet repository. If it work with the boot.img from this zip its downloading then it meas that the latest firmware available at lolinet is not the final or not signed or anything. lets see I let you know.

So what are you doing and what actually happens when you attempt to re-lock? Keep in mind that you need to run the fastboot oem lock command multiple times.

Out of curiosity, since I am not familiar with the Lenovo/MOTO software tool, why can't you just hit recover? If the goal is to go back to full factory, from the box condition? Does it do something bad if you have an unlocked bootloader?
moto almost bricked

That little "trick" helped me a lot!
After the 3 commands, I did boot then the sparse chunks, then vendor.img and oem.img
finished with original command...
(bootloader) Lock complete! Flash signed images after reboot if needed
OKAY [ 0.099s]
finished. total time: 0.101s

*Different phone, E6. But your post here may help other models as it did for me. Thank you!*
Does anyone help how to lock the bootloader moto g7 play?
How can I lock the bootloader back, every time I try to code the '' fastboot oem lock '' several times says that the error, someone can help me undo this:
Try...
I can try and help...
Are you running stock firmware?
You can get official firmware from Lenovo assistant.
Once it is installed, the only thing left is locking.
Do a factory reset after your phone is flashed and do your dev options stuff.
What is your region... What state is your phone in?
Give as much info and steps as possible.

yes, I installed the firmware from lenovo's program, turned off the phone, plugged in the pc and opened adb, typed '' fastboot oem lock '' 3x and nothing happened, says I need a similar developer permission;(
Ok. You still need to turn on developer options and usb debugging. After going back to stock, do the dev options stuff and then plug into your computer and make sure to get the screen where you can always trust the pc... Then adb reboot bootloader from there.
Give that a go!
