[Q] apps that use fingerprint scanner - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just got my 6P and was wondering what real apps use it. I am a last pass user but surely there are more. Searching is a pain with all the fake ones.

what do u wanna do with it?
some applications use it for login for instance
:good:

I wouldn't mind locking down a few apps. I have yet to run across any apps that let you log in. Care to give a few examples?

I use the fingerprint scanner to log into last pass. Works great, and I love not having to put in a password so it can fill in other apps' login info.

Authenticator Plus lets you login with a fingerprint instead of a PIN, but unfortunately, it doesn't work when rooted.

I just switched from keeper to dashlane for passwords. Dashlane uses the fingerprint scanner. I was surprised.

Focus gallery has fingerprint security to lock down pictures in the vault.

Another vote for Authenticator plus. It is a much better 2 factor authentication program than the google offering. I am stock and rooted and able to use it without difficulty. What error do you get? Could it be a Chroma issue?

I'm not sure where the issue lies. I never tried it on the stock ROM since I installed Chroma almost immediately after getting the phone. In the app's security settings, it says "Your device is rooted" on top and the fingerprint option is grayed out, I can only use the PIN lock.

Are you having any issues with Chrome's scrolling performance? I found that Lastpass was causing this issue for me and I had to uninstall it... but damn that fill-in feature was great for the day I used it

Chrome seems to scroll fine to me. Was the issue you were having that it scrolled slowly, or not at all?

I was using that for a while too but the random soft reboots forced me to uninstall xposed. Did you find a way around this?

[Q] NFC Task Launcher not disabling Lock screen?

I am using NFC Task Launcher so the NFC tag in my car disables the Lock screen (at least I'm trying to)
It doesn't seem to unlock the phone at all. I'm running the Stock ROM, but am rooted.

It's using the Keyguard API to temporarily hide the lock screen. The lock is released if the app is killed by the system or manually. Any chance this is occurring or you're running anything else memory intensive that may be pushing it out of memory?

I think I found the solution. I think I was sometimes closing the app in the pull down.
Same problem here. I'd be interested to learn your "fix". Thx!

The dismissal of the lock screen is going to be released if the app is killed either by the system or by the user for resources. There's nothing that can be changed right now since it's using the Keyguard API. I'm looking in to alternative solutions to get rid of this but Android isn't especially interested in letting apps get rid of lock screens without a bit of a fight.

I'm exactly with the same problem. I think the best workaround is using llama, that can disable/enable the pin lock in the lockscreen, but not the patter, and it doesn't disable the lockscreen, it switches the security to "slide"
Does anyone know if this can be reached with Tasker? I don't have it and won't buy it just to try it out

Major security issue

Ok, lock you device, use hey Google to set an alarm when it's done tap home, wala! No login patten code fingerprint needed. I tested this on the fingerprint enabled so I suppose it works on the rest. This is bad, very bad

LOL, try ok google and say anything. It till open up a browser and voila. All my important things require a finger print though.
The only fix would be to turn off the Okay Google detection from any screen option.
Hahahaha
We've been over this before (use search). You have trusted voice enabled. Have a buddy try it. It won't work.

So I guess that the only way is to disable trusted voice if one cared enough. Personally, I didn't search as I didn't really care but my brother opened my phone on the first attempt. This is definitely not secured.
I will keep it on as I like asking my phone questions while it sits on my computer desk.

Facial Recognition (and "OK Google")

While watching this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWLsspDeQpU) on youtube I noticed a setting for Facial Recognition. The actual setting is called "Trusted Face". It wasn't mentioned during the video but it was a setting I noticed while something else was being shown. The setting is under security/smartlock. I set it up and it works great. No fancy animations or anything, it just works. Anyway, just wanted to point out that the Axon 7 has this feature.
There is also a setting called "Trusted Voice" in the smartlock tab. This sets up the "OK Google" command, which also works really well!
I am using the A2017U Axon 7 which has been updated to 7.1.1. (I also use it on Verizon with no issues whatsoever).
Feel free to delete this thread if everyone was already aware of these features. I was not aware of them so I figured there may be a few more people out there who didn't know about them either.....
Cannot find this option, where is it?
Trusted voice has been about for ages, and also face unlock.
If you look for the google app in the app draw, open it and its in the settings of that app.

I have a month old axon 7. I had the facial recognition set up, if worked fine, now all of a sudden it doesn't work and for the life of me I can't find the settings for it. I swear it was there and it worked (yes, after the 7.1.1 upgrade).

Absolutely no sign of trusted face. Must not be an option on A2017.
Not sure why it's not there for you?

Not sure either...it's just gone from the menu.
EDIT: NM, problem solved. I have a credit card app set up as Device Admin. As soon as I removed it as an admin, Facial recognition came back.

Good anti theft app for OnePlus 6T

Just as any of my previous devices, I tried to install Cerberus on the OnePlus 6T. The simple fact you can't block the status bar without root is a bummer itself but it was to be expected, what wasn't expected is the fact even if you tap the option to hide the power menu from the lock screen, it is still visible for a fraction of a second and there is enough time to press the power or restart buttons before it hides.
So that makes me wonder, is there a better alternative to Cerberus that works well with the OnePlus 6T? Android native "find my device" is a joke because anyone can just turn off the Internet toggles from the lock screen and there goes the app coverage, was thinking about Prey but haven't tried it just yet. Any advice or recommendation is highly appreciated.
Thanks
I've been looking for an alternative as well. I've always rooted and used Cerberus. But I haven't rooted this device.
I've been using an app that used to be called locker by Aegis Dynamics; it's now called test, it may be what you're looking for.
I use renovate rom my lockscreen is set to have nothing on it at all and it works fine. No notification panel no quick settings no power menu or quick launch. Also pin number position is random.
Lockscreen config for the rom.

The link works for me with Chrome on my linux desktop but it doesn't work on my OP6T, no idea why. Here's a screenshot of the play store entry.

Best app in Playstore for anti theft and antivirus, that is customizable and have a lot of useful features is by far Bitdefender. Try it.
I use Cerberus app. Of course I got mine years ago when it was a one time payment then life license for $7 or something. Works awesome

I don't get it. It shows you can install this app, but it already shows up in the device admin tab??
I think it's preinstalled on Android
I've always used Cerberus and never really looked for alternatives. I think it's been removed from the store now as updates come direct from the Cerberus site.
Cerberus user here... Simply the best.

My problem with Cerberus is the one I stated in the first post, and from what I've read FP doesn't work with custom ROMs, so I'm a bit out of options. :silly:

Password manager that supports face unlock?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a password manager that supports face unlock?
Thanks
You could always use Tasker and Termux to make any login use the face unlock. I'm sure a lot of apps will support the feature soon, as well.
LastPass has support for it.

Is there a way to temporarily suspend face unlocking when driving coz my phone keeps randomly unlocking. Day time it's not that big of a deal but at night, you get this sudden bright screen right at the corner of your eyes.
