Swipes registered at taps more often than tolerable - Xiaomi Redmi 2 Questions & Answers

What is it about this phone that causes such crappy swipe/tap detection? Is it a low powered processor? Improper tap coding? Can this be fixed using software?

HD2 oudside in the cold.

I tested out the HD2 outside in below freezing temps, and it really had a tough time registering my finger presses. It took about 5 minutes, before it could register properly... Anyone experience these issues?
Yes, and the wind keeps pressing things which makes it almost useless. I'm hoping some of the hints here on how to make it less sensitive will help but I haven't tried it yet.
I've noticed the "ghost" pressing (the screen registered a LOT of presses when my fingers were nowhere near the screen) of the screen too. I also contacted HTC support on the issue, and they said it was not a known problem.
So, again, I'd suggest that if you're experiencing issues with the screen in cold temperatures (finger touches not registering, "ghost pressing" etc.), let HTC know about it!
i got that kind of ghost typing too. pretty funny to watch but annoying when you see its deleting mails, answering sms or calls people ... will contact htc as well to let them know.
Confirmed here too. Though I thought it was caused by constant rain/snow here in Moscow, which fell directly on the screen when the ghost tapping occured.
Yeah I get the ghost tapping but only after i've been in a call and hang up, it then starts doing all sorts of things by itself normally ending up with dialling someone!! :/
I dunno about the ghost-typing but isn't it a common fact that capacitive screens don't work well with low temperatures?
That's a capacitive touch-panel "Feature" . HTC can't do anything about it (besides lowering the screen sensitivity).
edit: Umiss beat me to it lol
you can lower the screen sensitivity either by installing the new 1.48 rom or using the cab from the hints and tweaks thread in opening couple of posts. Should help.

adjusting the touch screen sensitivity

Hi,
I played around with a Asus Transformer...I'm getting my own soon (very soon!).
Comparing it to the touch sensitivity of xoom and iPad2's, the Asus doesn't seem to be as sensitive. I'm a novice when it comes to Droid. Is there a setting to change the sensitivity? Sometimes it seems like I keep having to tap something again because it didn't take the first time.
I'm hoping it's a software adjustment, and not a hardware limitation...
I've search the forum where some people were having actual issues with the touch screen not responding or not responding in certain areas. That isn't my question - the screen responds, just not to quick/light touches on icons.
Thanks!

i dont think there is any setting to adjust sensitivity. Ive not tried the other pads but ive never had any problem with lack of sensitivity on my TF.
Maybe once the devs really get into the TF there might be some tweaks possible.

[Q] touch sensitivity too sensitive?

Hi All,
I have recently bought S4 and I'm having a small issue with it.
first of all, I turned off the "More Sensitive" feature in the setting, and "vibration on touch" is on.
However, I occasionally feel that touch is pressed before my finger actually touches the screen (the phone vibrates and types before I touch the screen when my finger is about 2~3mm apart from the screen), and it seems it's not consistent about it (some times it touches with 2~3mm gap and sometimes it doesn't).
I have even tried with the "display touch" from the developer mode and verified that it indeed touches with 2~3 gap...
The problem is...the ATT guy looked at me as if I'm overly sensitive about this...(the typical look of 'man this is just a phone')
Is anyone having this issue?

I have rarely noticed this myself, but usually only a 1mm-2mm gap for me, and maybe once every couple days. Really infrequent. On an older phone of mine, the cheaply-made car charger I was using caused my touchscreen to flip out and become super-sensitive. Might have been a static-to-ground issue or something weird.
Does it happen when you have it plugged in only, or does it happen while disconnected?
Also, speaking on static electricity, is it dry in your area? Do you have problems shocking things?
*shrug* only some suggestions. Could be a miscalibrated or otherwise defective touchscreen...
Mine also does this, whether plugged in or not it does it.
Nor do I have a problem with static in my house.
My best guess would be the air view sensor is falsly detecting the small distance away as an actual touch.

Multi touch issue s8

Hello all
I just got a UK unlocked s8 and I love it but I'm having an issue with the multi touch.
It cannot register multi touch properly. I notice the issue whilst typing on the keyboard.
I downloaded those multi touch tester and if I put my left thumb and 2 fingers from my right hand then place them on the screen at the same time, it does not always register 3 touches. If you move your fingers then it will.
Anyone have this issue?
Could it be another app that is causing the issue?
Faulty screen?
Thanks
Okay so I've worked it out. The issue occurs when I set the phone to qhd! If I use full HD then the issue goes away. How lame is that!
Edit. I've set qhd again and this time it appears to be working. I'll monitor this
I got 10 touch registered with no problem, before running out of fingers and screen is set for maximum resolution, never noticed any missing touches either. Not sure why yours would be different.
Well I guess me changing the resolution messed something up. Changing them back and forth sorted the issue out
I was having the same problem with my galaxy s8 plus. It couldn't recognize more than 2 fingers. At last I got a solution. That is, just go to your call dailer and then ty-pe *#2663# then update TSP. And you are ready to rock 10 fingers.
same problem

I have the same problem. Whenever i play a FPS game using 4 fingers it only allows me to use 2 fingers. Rebooting the phone only temporarily solves the problem before it comes back. Changing the resolution solves it temporarily as well. Is there any other solutions?

Jumpy/Shaky screen while holding finger on my new S8

Hello,
When I scroll down/left/right in my phone and hold my finger on display, the screen automatically shakes left and right or up and down (depending on how I was scrolling my device). This also occurs while charging and while moving an icon on home-screen. I had this issue previously with Asus Zenfone 3, Samsung Galaxy J7 and a HTC Desire (dont remember the exact model though) and a similar issue with iphone 6 (which was registering that my finger was moving on home button). Is this a software problem or hardware problem and how can I fix this ? I have read on web that many people are facing this issue on various phones. but couldnt find any solution yet. Is this my screen sensitivity/touch/display driver/ battery or something else ? If anyone could suggest something, would be really helpful.
Edit: Exactly the same issue as this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxysauxJ5Yk&feature=youtu.be but mine shakes a bit less, still annoys me while playing 8 ball pool and other aiming games like angry birds, etc.
Thanks
There is an app which you can use to test your touch screen by drawing on it. You'll be able to see exactly what it's registering. From what I've seen it happens on a lot of phones with bad digitizers. Try to get a warranty replacement.

Hello,
Sorry for delay. I went to service centre and they said that it is normal because of smooth and silky touch and slight movement of fingers. I explained him that it occurs more while charging and he had to take my phone for inspection.
Here is the correct video : https://youtu.be/PmQ2lra4RXU
My hand didnt have tremors. I agree that human hands are not 100 % stable, however, none of my other phones do it. And if my hand is shaking, then it should shake also while the phone is not charging. When I unplug my device, it stops shaking (almost stops), but when I replug it, it starts to behave weird again when I am holding finger stable. Also, this shaking will move your aim pointer in gaming and it really is annoying while play games with pointer moving.
Is it really normal that your pointer moves while your finger is stable on screen ?
