Very faint vibration when charging. - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just noticed last night. If I brush my fingertips over the top of the phone near the camera there's a very faint vibration when on charge.
To be fair its very hard to detect. Just wondered if anyone else could feel the same thing???

Maybe it is because of the metal?
My laptop has the same when charging, when I brush over it, it feels like a vibration.

Yeah, it's the metal. Static electricity or something gives you a small vibration or buzz at your fingertips.

So its not just mine then?

Oil-like stain reflection on screen

After owning the Touch HD for a full month I just noticed that down the middle of the screen there is something which I can best describe as an oil stain. It looks as if there is a liquid in between the glass/plastic screen and the resistive layer that lays on top of it.
The screen works normally and this "stain" can only be observed if I look at how the light reflects of it.
Any idea what happened?
Hi,
I have a small idear. The TFT-Monitor ist touching your Touchscreen. Probeply you pressed something on your HD, that the two Monitor touch each other, that is why it looks like a Water or Oil spot.
This can happen for example, if you are carrying your HD in your trouser pocket.
If you want to try to remove this spot, you have to turn with your both hand the hd, like the right hand turn with the clock and the left hand turn to the other way.
Sorry, my english is not very good for such a discribing. What I mean is like "to contort" or "to skew (up)". But you have to be very carefully. Before you start, remove the Battery
(I'll be incorporating a clearer explanation along the lines of what Dude10 was trying to say)
The effect you're seeing is IDENTICAL to what causes the colours to appear on an oil film actually!
The way the Touch HD screen works is to have the hard glass (polycarbonate plastic actually as far as I'm aware, but that's not important here!) with a squashy resistive sensor layer on the top.
This resistive layer detects touch as an increase in resistance at the spot that's compressed - be that by a finger or a stylus. Because the upper layer can be compressed, it can also be malformed by stronger than normal pressure, such as an object in a pocket. The effect can be more pronounced if your body heat warms up the screen surface making the screen "set" in position rather than spring back as it should do...
The "oil" effect is cause by the reflections of light from the outermost plastic layer and the outermost surface of the hard screen. When the gap is small enough, these reflections can interfere with each other, cancelling and re-inforcing different wavelengths depending on the thickness - hence the tapering of the screen from thinnest to thickest results in a "rainbow"
Now, why explain all this you may ask? Partly because I like science and it fascinated me in school to learn what caused that effect so wanted to share this! (And this also explains why it only presents itself when you look at the light reflections)
Anyway, more importantly, the solution to your problem is to restore the thickness of that part of the touch layer to it's original uncompressed state.
I'd firstly start trying to hold your finger flat against the top of the phone screen (on flat surface, portraint orientation, finger "left to right") then pressing resonably hard (the hard screen should protect the device - if not you're pressing too hard!) slide your finger down the screen from top to bottom trying to keep an even pressure. This should hopefully even out the surface.
Failing this, as Dude10 suggests, take the battery out and use your thumbs (holding with fingers in the battery well) to press and "smear" around the problem area.
Unfortunately, other than this I don't think there's a particular way to remove the effect totally if it doesn't work...
Obviously it's speculation given that you didn't mention how it happened in the first place, but it does sound like it got knocked or pressed by something either in bag or pocket - maybe even a fold in the pouch
Hope you manage to smooth it out!

Just a long shot, but:
Sometimes a similar effect can be caused when some moisture has got between the layers of a display.
Have you used the phone anywhere damp or very humid ?
Keeping it somewhere warm and dry might be worth a try?

Thanks for all the tips. The issue happened when I had the Touch HD in the pouch and in my pocket - so the idea that it was a fold in the pouch holds water.
The funny thing however is that before I saw all of your replies I was already out the door (with the Touch HD back in the pouch and pocket). 5 minutes later when I pulled it out the issue was gone. I am guessing that I reapplied the exact amount of pressure needed or something like that.
Thanks again for the tips and especially to chaosdefinesorder for the nice explanation.
Thx for helping explanation

no, i don't think it was gone. check again under a fluorescent light....
i have this on my diamond. my HD is flawless (till now...)
i phoned to a technician and explain the phenomena and he invited me to replace the screen. when i got there, to my complete amazement and embarrassment the stain was gone. only later i discovered that the stain is visible under fluorescent light only.

thanks m8, already tried this (on my diamond) and tried now again with both yr methods. no results. the stain is still there...i think only a replacement can solve it.
here u have the paralel thread in diamond forum:

you can not do it yourself. the best way will be to go to your seller or straight to HTC, because I think you HD still have warranty.
I repaired ones an Diamond and I can tell you, it wasn´t an easy way.

Notification Light Leakage?

Hi,
When charging, the amber light comes on and just above that where the top of the screen meets the metal frame there appears to be a leakage of light giving the impression the phone is not sealed properly or i cant work out if its a reflection of the amber lite hitting the metal frame, i pulled out the plug and had a close look under sunlight and i could not see any miniscule gap but it is a bit weird, just wondered if anyone else identifies, if not then there must be a tiny gap and the top of the phone cant be sealed properly, i have only had it 2 days and its BNIB.
Feedback appreciated
Thanks

Strange feel on dock when charging

I just noticed a strange anomaly on my dock only when its plugged in to charge. If I run my finger over the flat areas to the left and right of the touchpad it ever-so-slightly vibrates as you move your finger. It almost feels like how your finger would vibrate or hum when circling a wet glass rim. When you unplug the dock the vibration feeling will go away. I'm not noticing any other issues with the dock or pad and it only will do it when the dock is plugged in (with or without the pad). Battery usage is very good and I'm running the 3.1 updated firmware on the tablet and the EP101-0209 for the dock.
Anyone else have this issue? Anything I should be worried about? I'm not planning on returning it unless i see it gets worse.
Update: it happens on any of the flat top area of the dock (but not the keyboard part) but not on the sides or back (due to the plastic I'm assuming).
someone else posted about that. apparently, it's low voltage electricity. not enough to electrocute you though. someone suggested that depending on the way you plug the +/- prongs of the plug into your wall socket, you won't get it. so based on what you have right now, just flip it.
Sorry, I missed that post..but as to flipping the adapter I did just that and what do you know!! It worked, its not having any of that issue anymore. Strange coming from AC current but I'm happy now.
Thanks!!
Are you sure it really goes away when it's not charging? Try it again. I noticed the very same thing but very quickly determined that it was simply the texture of the material causing a vibration as a moved my hand over it. If you keep your hand still it disappears. There is no low voltage electricity, for you to be able to feel it like that it would have to be a fairly high voltage.

Back plate vibrates when loud sounds come from the speaker

I just bought an S5 today and I have noticed something that kinda annoys me (I'm upgrading from an S3, and I didn't notice this on that model).
So, what happens is that if I have Touch Sounds [Play sound when making screen selection] enabled, and I have a finger on the back of the phone, somewhere between the speaker and the SAMSUNG logo, every time I make a selection on the screen, the case vibrates and I feel it slightly vibrating under my finger that holds the back of the phone (by the way, I have disabled the haptic feedback, so it's purely due to the sound from the speaker).
My question is: is this a general issue? Does it happen to you?
Sounds like improperly locked cover. Try pressing firmly around the edges of the cover and around the camera area.
It happens to me too. Nothing to worry about.

It's because waterproof and seals....
The vibration is due to the camera auto focus mechanism. It is completely normal.

I have the S5 Active and when I play music the metal back plate vibrates and (lacking a better way to describe it) makes my finger tips hurt when Im holding it.
I somewhat fixed it by puting a couple apropriately sized pieces of paper inside the back, but this is far from ideal. My idea was to ground the middle of the back plate to the phone. Anyone have any other ideas that might not create a bulge.

Blue/Red Blemish On Screen

Hey, so I was just wondering, does anyone else have a small blue/red light visible on their screen over dark backgrounds? I'm not sure when it could've happened, but apparently too much pressure was applied and now my screen is slightly damaged. Depending on the angle I look at it, the light is either red or blue.
Is there any fix to this? Will replacing the screen work, or will I need to start saving up for a replacement device? I'm not entirely averse to doing that; the magnetic lock/wake sensor is on the wrong side of the phone, the bottom speaker grille is loose, and now this issue is present (I probably caused this one, but still). I just thought this phone would last a couple more years tbh.
