Can sync 8125 OTA, but not with USB cable, weird. Help!

Hi everyone,
When I sync my 8125 phone's email (corporate exchange server) it syncs fine when not connected to the usb cable, meaning wirelessly over the air OTA through the Cingular GPRS network.
When I connect it to the usb cable, it tries to sync, then a window pops up on the phone saying "Cannot connect with current connection settings, tap here to change your settings"
I'm not sure anything has really changed. I then upgraded to active sync 4.5 but message still pops up on the phone & I get an active sync error saying it couldnt connect to the server.
it used to sync fine through my pc when plugged in, now all of a sudden i get this message.
Any ideas?
Thanks a ton!
You must have installed a personal firewall or something.
That happened to me as well ( or you upgraded Activesync beyond 4.0, that's when AS is regarding your USB connection to be an ethernet port with IP on it.

Web n Walk MSN weirdness

I have 2 sim cards with data plans, each displaying different behaviour:
web n walk professional:
cannot connect to MSN via Windows Messenger on laptop
CAN connect to MSN via Messenger on Kaiser
cannot connect to MSN via Trillian on laptop
cannot connect to ICQ via Trillian on laptop
web n walk plus:
CAN connect to MSN via Windows Messenger on laptop
cannot connect to MSN via Trillian on laptop
CAN connect to ICQ via Trillian on laptop
Anyone have any idea why it's inconsistent? Surely the Windows Messenger and Trillian are both connecting to messenger.hotmail.com : 1863
Ideas?
Have you checked if your connection works through a proxyserver? I had all sorts of connection problems when I turned the proxy on...
I have had same problem with vodaphone. I mailed them that msn did not want to connect when proxy was on. They advised me to simply turn off the proxy on my phone.
Greetings from a vastloper from holland.
if you read the terms of use with the different services you will see that the different packages allow for differnt uses, ie voip & msn... also using the sim as a modem for a pc is prhibated with the lower tarriffs... you may find wifirouter as a nice work around

Email through active sync

I have a Samsung Omnia i900 on o2 uk.
I download weather data etc from internet when the phone is connected to my pc (win xp) using active sync as I haven't managed to get the wireless to work yet.
I have a yahoo and gmail account. I tried downloading my email to outlook (which is already installed on the phone) whilst connected to the internet via active sync but it doesn't recognise it and only wants to connect thru 3g etc.
As i don't have a data plan is there any way I download my email when phone is connected via active sync?
Many thanks
settings->connections->connections->advanced->select network->choose my home network or work network or whatever it's called in the dropdownbox
then it will always use activesync or wifi for network
Worked a charm
Thanks

mobile app wont connect to local web service via active sync (.netcf 3.5)

0i have written a small application that connects to a web service to transfer data. this web service is currently run on a local laptop runnin IIS. the device is connected to the laptop via the standard usb port, active sync starts up, and the mobile app is able to find the web service (//computername/applicationname/filename.asmx). However this only works if the laptop is connected to the internet. as soon as i pull the network cable out of the laptop the mobile device is unable to find the web service.
as the web service is running locally i didnt think the internet connectio nwould be necesssary, can anyone shed any light on this as networking is not really my specialism.
thanks in adnavce,
j

[Q] Samsungs SlideSnyc

Im trying to set up slide sync with my S5 and my PC. Does it require you to be on a wireless connection from your PC? Im connected to the network via Ethernet but its acting like it has to be wifi for it to work.
