Unofficial Android 6.0 maybe coming to Nexus One - Nexus One General

Guys, good news! It looks like Dmitry Grinberg is working on a Marshmallow port for the Nexus One! If you don't know who Dmitry Grinberg is, he is the hacker who works at Google and he ported Marshmallow to the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 7 2012. Other than these two ancient devices, he was also able to make Android M run on the Nexus S.
From his posting on his website, he is now focusing on the Nexus One!
http://dmitry.gr/index.php?r=06. Thoughts&proj=05. Android M on Nexus S

dookie23, I get the excitement over porting Android 6.0 to those "ancient devices," but that accomplishment pales in comparison to the Nexus One - the latter represents the original "smart" that was added to Android phones at the Dawn of Mankind ... (Jan 2010). Cue Also sprach Zarathustra (Strauss). . .

I have found some M and L ports for our Nexus One on google but did not have the time to try.
Has anyone tried any, if so which one?
Cheers..

Could you please share those roms, I googled and couldn't find any Marshmallow rom.

If he wants to do it he will do it , i know its possible even the htc HD2 got M working and nexus 1 and HTC HD2 have mostly the same hardware.
I OWN BOTH OF THEM

Holy wow! I came here per chance after being out of touch with android developments for so long. I cherished some hope when 4.0 came out and it was being ported. But builds were wonky and incomplete (as I remember at that time) and my hope of a stable daily driver quickly faded.
This was the last thing I expected to see here. Super exciting!

In order to be able to use these the font package and keyboard need to be updated to recognize the emoji otherwise you get a symbol in its place because it's seeing code it can't translate and you wouldn't be able to select the new emoji without the keyboard being Speed Test updated to show them as well.

Could an Optimus G Rom be ported?

Hi everyone, just a query. I've seen a past attempt at an Optimus G Rom port that booted and had some radio issues. My question is simply, could a full Rom port be possible?
While the Optimus G UI is not as good looking as AOSP, it does have some nice looking features particularly for the camera (since the AT&T Optimus G and Nexus 4 share the most similar hardware, camera should be able to work). I think this would be a great mod to have, features like Q-slide multitasking would be fun to try.
So what so the devs say? Could this happen?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
It could be. One problem is the Optimus G barely recieved a 4.1 jellybean update whereas we are on 4.2.2. By the time the Optimus G recieves 4.2.2, at the rate it took them to release 4.1, we will probably be on 5.0 KLP and as you should know 4.2 kernels won't simply boot a 4.1 ROM.
It will be hard to fully port and may not be worth the effort in the end
Hi,
Take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2175663
To give you an answer from my best judgement is yes certainly can. And as a matter of fact I was , when I get set up and the time, going to try my hand at some "Ports" as I know it will require much more work than I'm used to on S3 to another carrier S3 by long shot but knowing for a first port for me on nexus ever I figured why not try LGS G? I do understand where the other post is coming from but that will be where I would most probably stick with the 4.2.1 anyway. I'll see. Pm me if you want to collaborate and I'll try and get some time this week. Been up all night piloting these threads as I can't sleep from a hernia lol...but I'll check tomorrow or this afternoon...peace. BTW I have brand new computer but its not much of upgrade as I couldn't afford to replace the one I had and I didn't want to pay much but its stupid windows 8 and I want to go in first and disable all the crap and then DL SDK adb and kitchen utilities etc I had on old broken laptop...edit..now I see where the guy is talking about the g. Damn yes its only on 4.1 and not 4.2.1?? OK. I'll look...

Thanks everyone, seems like we need the Optimus G to get 4.2.2 for it to be easy enough to get working, till then it could work but it seems like a lot of effort for the devs. When the time comes though I pray someone gets it working, we all love to experiment, and to be honest I think the LG camera app with more features will be better..

The source code has been available on github, from the following link , this has been available for some time, but I lack the knowledge, and time to build the ROM, and kernel.
The kernel is a modified CM11 kernel, and the kickstarter file from the repository should setup the rom with all the repo dependencies (including the actual sailfish os part) that it relies on to work, providing I correctly understand what a kickstarter file does.

Is it possible to port it to galaxy s4 i9500?
If yes, can some port it? or can someone teach me how to port? or is there any tutorial for porting it?
This looks Promising ...
I want that ^^ can't weit till we can get a shot at it
yeah, I hope we will get some news soon, I'd fancy a nexus 5 sailfish-rom most of course
Anyhow, it seems the nexus 5 wasn't that of a good choice imo. Sure, it has good specs for that low price, but owning a Nexus S before I thought the N5 is a good choice also towards support for new roms (like the Nexus S was: you always got new / experimental roms for it first). Now the N5 seems to have bad hardware in the way that it is hard to implement in new roms (e.g. find suitable driver) which is a shame. Well, I'm not sure if I'd buy another Nexus phone again, thankfully there are many alternatives now (the fairphone, jolla phones etc).
Umm.. Guys? The rom has been out for over a month already.

Porting Android L

Dear Developers,
I saw a few days ago that the Nexus 5 got a Developer Preview of Android L.
I wonder if it's possible to port the Nexus 5 rom to the Galaxy Note 3. Since the phones are very simular in specs.
The Developer img can be find here: http://developer.android.com/preview/setup-sdk.html
If this would be possible, i would thank the dev a 1000 times.
Greetings, Paul
From what I understand is that Android L is still under heavy developing, I don't think we'll see a ROM for Android L in a couple of months. Besides, even if we would, it would be buggy as hell I believe.
That is more of an alpha build and it's mostly for developers to give them an early idea how the os runs, so they can port apps before the official release is out.
The final version will most likely be out with the nexus 6.

Android 9 or 10 ? Pros & cons !

Hi all,
I usually move to new version as soon as i can, waiting like a child to play with new features.
For once, i do not see really the point of moving from 9 to 10. Some roms for our lovely device seems pretty good and stable, as always made by our beloved devs with love and passion... but i still don't see the pros to upgrade.
Can you make me change my mind ?
Android 10 is the best thing happened to android eco system. Smooth and stable than any other android version available. It is gonna be a game changer when we have it for RN7 with MIUI. For now, I recommend everyone to try PE 10 Beta.
The roms with android 10 have not the customizations I need (ex. smartbar) therefore, for now, I stay without any problem on my pie superioros. Actually android 10 doesn't seem a big revolution, so I can wait.
Pixel Experience android 10 is smooth and nice.
Sadly I think google is falling behind in innovation. There really is no new features that make it any better than android 9.
I installed MIUI 11 (xiaomi.eu) and was surprised at how much better it is than googles stock android.
Can't wait for a new type of OS for our phones that is not using google, i think everyone is bored of google products and living in the past.
Very differents point of view regarding Android, stock and google : very interisting to read this.
Thanks for your replies guys ! Hope we'll have more.

SM-T510

Hi all,
Does anyone know what roms are compatible with the Tab A 10.1 2019 version? I see a lot of roms for 2016 version but not for the 2019.
Running stock Nexus, and I don't have any complaints except that you hardly can customize it yourself. I have a bought icon pack but can't use it for example.
Greetings Rick
I've actually just flashed a number of ROM's for this baby in the last few weeks - there are plenty to play with.
I settled on this as I think it was the best overall:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...rom-nexus-stock-2019-galaxy-tab-10-1-t4056233
Have fun.
Thank you for the time to respond Where are you looking for when finding a Rom. Im on Nexus stock aosp based. But there are still some things I would like to see different. As I only use the tab for 1 game. Still chrashes, issues with keyboard. So I don't mind customizing it.
Greetings from Holland
Yeah it's a good tab, for its price. So I'm kinda buffels by the fact that there is hardly one on this forum.

There are two other custom ROMs for the T510. LOS 17.1 and a Nexus version based on Android 9. I've been using the Nexus 10 one for months and have never had a crash or keyboard problem. Maybe it is the one game you play that has the problems.

Always a posibility, still i seem to have a habbit of trying stuff out.
Don't know if I should post this under OP but it's in the same line of it. Like I said love to tinker around with software for 10 years ago or something I got a budget phone that in the end would not update Android anymore so that was the moment I came to the conclusion that my model then was a better version of the original. Kinda like in this case, tab a 2016 and 2019 will differ in chipset etc. But tab a is tab a. So I started to go head in and toke a dive into the Android world, met some interesting people including the legendary Mr Carvalho. But... Im not posting this because I like to write or want you to read a book so let's cut to the case, im reading up a bit with customizing etc. Starting where I left off, installing ADB drivers again MTK drivers C++ all that good stuff. But then I kept reading, and correct me if I'm wrong but did you guys crack the code? The sometimes impossible to port source code? Or am I getting that GSI wrong. The software from the OD will be used to power the custom Rom so finding and combining code is almost a thing of the past? I tried to flash one last night to see if it really was that easy. Managed to get the tablet into a recovery bootloop. Installed the Nexus Rom again now the Los version. So I guess I did something wrong I think to know what it whas but before I make a paperweight from it, I think it's better to ask first.
So GSI, restrictions? Things to look for. Is it possible on this device?
Device is Treble ready
Supports A/B Arm
So it should right?
Off topic. This is a question for the Nexus Rom. Why are some Samsung features disabled? Like screen recording. Used multiple now all end up recording 0 or no internal audio. Other Samsung features like the camera, mail service etc. Only thing I'm searching for is the screen recording function with internal sound. Anny way to enable it or an alternative?
Thanks in advance.

Utter nonsense. The only thing "Tab A" tablets have in common is the name.

I understand that.
wHEN TO PAY
So I would like to start by saying great job, I agree with house things where set in place in the long run, I would say lets wait on future runs, just because it was future runs that caused an issuee. Either way thqanks for the recommendations but this seems like it will be a judge appointed issue., i appreciate everything but+
I use the Nexus, Android 10, AOSP-based rom from Magedanz. I works great, I tried LOS 17.1 and LOS based Nexus as well, but settled on the AOSP based due to the lack of support of the 400GB microsd I have in my T510 from LOS and the LOS based Nexus rom not able to read my microsd. The AOSP rom read it just fine and was able to format it correctly.
