Sprint finally rolling out Lollipop to Moto X owners - Moto X General

So I noticed this today https://community.sprint.com/baw/message/1017547#1017547
Of course, I had given up on this, and finally unlocked and rooted my phone a week ago. I gather than means I can't take an OTA update. Not sure I want it anyway, I'm happy with the stability of the native ROM. AdAway and tethering were the only things I needed and I've got those now.

Any one get this update yet? I just booted up several sprint moto x that I haven't used in a while and got an update to 4.4.4 that I should have gotten a long time ago, but, no 5.1 (the phones no longer have active service) might that be an issue in getting an OTA? Just wanted to upgrade to lollipop before I sold them...

Anyone seen this yet?

Sprint probably started rolling it out before everyone else, it's just that their network is so slow that no one received the notification until after every other carrier had pushed out the update.

Please tell me someone got the OTA
Anything yet? Anyone? 20 days since "release" and nothing?

I'm hard pressed to believe no one has got the update yet. I swear this starting going out on the 5th of Nov. A poster on Reddit said the release window was until the 7th of Dec daaaannnngggg, I'm still impatiently waiting lol

https://community.sprint.com/baw/message/1017547
Shows the 10th of Dec on the update announcement, so after the 10th, when you click system update should def be there? Maybe soon...lol

:highfive:

Just a few days away from December 10th, and I haven't gotten the update yet. Is there any way to force it to show up? Does anyone have the firmware that I could flash myself?

I think by now its safe to say, it won't be all rolled out by the 10th. It has to be a problem with the update.

Who do I contact from Sprint if the update doesn't show up by the 10th?

Sprint will just pass the buck to Motorola and we will go around in circles! Sprint and Motorola need to learn how to communicate with their customers.

If you don't have to be with unlocked bootloader or rooted can some one point me to a guide to capture the OTA update for others?

Some good news. 2 people on the Sprint Moto X message board just reported getting the update notification this afternoon. So there is hope yet.
Update - just checked and got the update notification! It has arrived! Will install when I get home.

Yes, all my phones are stock, locked bootloader and unrooted. Installing it on one of the three moto x's in the household.

I checked for updates and it was there! Finally official 5.1 lollipop!

Great news: I just got the notification for the update! Now I just need someone to upload the firmware, so I can do a "clean install" using RSD.

First post! Also got the notification, so I came on here to tell everyone! I checked here earlier today and people were being all pessimistic. I can't believe this is finally happening! Sprint just got almost all their points back. Almost... Better late than never. And at least Motorola and Sprint stuck with it till the bitter end.

It's out today!!!! Saw a couple people on Reddit post pics, so it's finally here
updated and it takes forever to finish but it does Enjoy it folks, we're the last of a dying breed

Does the Sprint update Lock the Sim again? Like the sprint 4.4.4 5mb security update did?

Have y'all received an Android 5.1.1 OTA yet? If not, could you please keep an eye out for the OTA notification, and when you get it, grab the URL to the ZIP file before you update? If you don't know how, I can help you out. I need it for my Stock OTA URL ref thread.

No, it was the build that was shipped on Nexus 6s purchased from Project Fi. It was never released as an OTA to other Nexus 6s in the wild.

5.1.1 was NOT shipped with ProFi N6. Mine came with 5.1 installed. ProFi CSR's said I would receive the update via OTA within a couple weeks of activating service. Some ppl on the G+ ProFi private page have stated that they got the update to 5.1.1 right after activating service. I did not. There was a poll done about it and out of all the votes up until this point less than 20% said they received the update.

I know. LVY47H is 5.1, not 5.1.1. That's why I'm looking for an OTA for my thread.
Gotcha! Hope I can help! U may get it quicker if u post on the G+ ProFi page.
I got a replacement phone too with
LVY47H. I sent them a tmobile phone and they sent me a phone with this build number. I did not by a project Fi it was a replacement from Motorola. I too am a little confused whether or not I'll get an update or only if I activate the service. I have already been bypassed on a t-mobile OTA and I guess I'll have to just flash my own.

Ok, so I did a little looking. I did download the update before I saw this thread. It appears that I need to run logcat BEFORE downloading the ota. So I am gonna trash the download and see what happens. If it wants to download again I will post the results.

Telus XT1097 5.1 OTA/Update

Hello All,
Today - - July 20th, according to schedule posted on Telus website, is supposed to be the start of the official 5.1 OTA roll-out for our XT1097 RETCA phones.
I am not yet seeing it pushed on my end but eagerly awaiting to test it out. I thought I would start a little thread here so people can post their results, upgrade experience, overall performance etc. [MODS: if this thread is deemed repetitive or unnecessary, please let me know]
cheers,
gs
Me too! I think initially the date was July 17th. (someone on Twitter had received a reply from TELUS stating that date).
Can't wait ! still no update
Please make sure you pull it out so we can enjoy this build ! Also curious to see if any radio improvements were made.
Will be seen here if and when !

Thanks bertiespeed! Good link to have, I was wondering how active those Moto subforums are but it seems like a reliable place. So eager for this to land on my phone. I flashed the stock brazilian 5.1. firmware just to see the overall feel of stock 5.1 compared to 5.0 >> NIGHT and DAY. Huge difference.... looking forward to the RETCA version. I will post back here as soon as I get the OTA notification, for the moment back to NX rom :good:
Update 7/20/2015: Select users on Retail Wind and Telus (22.121.11.victara_retca.retca.en.CA) and Retail China (22.31.18.victara_retcn.retcn.en.CN) can download and install Android 5.1

Hi all.
This was just posted on the Official Lollipop moto forum:
Update 7/24/2015: All users on Retail Wind and Telus (22.121.11.victara_retca.retca.en.CA) can download and install Android 5.1.
I am unfortunately on the road and cant do anything till after the weekend. If any of you here using the Telus XT1097 RETCA get the OTA please let us know here....
Update just showed up on my phone, away all wethough though
Never received the notification. did manual and it came up. installed and running fine .. So far so good
Just received the "5.1 Notification"! I'm on Telus Mobility.
I'm downloading it right now!
Will report a little later on.....
Does anyone have a link to the full firmware? I have 1095 firmware right now and would like to get 1097.
Anyone have full firmware?
I've been searching for 23.16.1.victara_retca.retca.en.CA full firmware to keep as backup, I still haven't found it. I prefer flashing full firmware using fastboot, rather than doing a system backup/restore using a custom recovery.
Full RSD XML firmware now available for RETCA XT1097

looks like a new VZW OTA is out

Well it's that time again VZW put out a new OTA anyone taken this yet what does it fix and is it worth it and I think all of us will be wondering is will it lock your bootloader Its unlocked
Me too, I got an OTA notification today, update size is 823.5 MB, don't know what build it is.
I have VZ Pixel, unlocked, stock rooted NMF260 with VZ service. Is it safe to install updates ? Please advice.
Thanks in advance.

So one of you said you are on nmf260. That is December. So i doubt this is a "new" update, you are just behind. Google only releases on the first Monday of the month. VZ uses the same exact releases. There is no special VZ version.

You'd just download them then sideload the OTA via recovery or you can flash it via fastboot/ADB but if you have TWRP installed fastboot will replace it with stock recovery
OK so with update my phone lost TWRP and root other than that bootloader is still unlocked and everything seems fine
Also build number changed after update OK then
If you are getting a new Verizon OTA, it is late. My Verizon Pixel updated to NOF26V (Feb security patch), weeks ago. NOF26V is the most current image for Verizon Pixels.
I updated. New build is NOF26V. Everything seems to be fine. But root is gone. lol

July security update?

Has anyone with the 1687 retus received the OTA containing the July security update? I am currently rooted with a custom kernel and TWRP flashed stock ROM so I know I won't see the OTA, but I don't want to go through the trouble of going back to stock and finding out it isn't even available for my device yet.
It wil take a month or so before it really comes. Moto has this thing where they post it, but in reality it takes a while before they rol the OTA.
