RMA? Screen / Screen Temp - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I feel like maybe I am just too picky but I wont be able to be at ease unless I RMA. What do you guys think?
I have two devices one 32gb (ordered while waiting for my frost 64gb) and my frost that just came today.
Right off the bat I could tell the frost's screen was dull... not bad by any means still vary usable just dull when compared to the other device. The colors didn't "wow" me like the silver 32gb device does.
I feel bad for even worrying about such a little thing. The device works great and if i didn't have the two in hand I probably would have never known the difference.
After comparing the two It is a pretty noticeable difference the colors don't pop on the frost as they do on the other. I have messed with all the brightness/and display settings with no changes.
Ill post pics once I find my camera cord... (shortly) however I am afraid they dont show the differences between the two as well as in person.
EDIT: The one on the left is the Frost and is dull compared to the right

RMA it. I had a similar problem and the replacement had noticeably better contrast.

Thanks I think I will... the picture doesn't do it justice! I cant seem to capture how much difference it truly is in person but it will drive me nuts if I just settle. :good:
Wife is going to be so mad haha 3rd phone ... Return the first one (silver 32gb temp phone purchased to hold me over while waiting for my frost) and now have to RMA my frost that just arrived for a replacement.... plus I bought the Moto X pure when it first came out. I pawned that off to her when the nexus 6p came... She will never let me live this one down...

Same here. I just got my 128 GB Frost and the colors seem weak and don't seem to pop for an AMOLED. It looks washed out next to my Note 3 and shouldn't it look more, or at least as saturated/colorful as the Note 3? I even put the 6P into sRGB mode and there's little to no difference. Should I RMA? I just got it, how long does it usually take to get another one from Google?

Did Verizon sell me a refurbished Droid 2?

Hey guys.. Last Monday I decided to buy the D2, and being that I came from an Eris, it's probably the best phone I've come across. But the port for the charger was quite loose and I didn't want to risk anything, so I exchanged it for another one. Now, I noticed that the battery cover for this D2 is a slightly different shade of navy blue than the rest of the back of the phone. I compared my phone to my friends D2, and his is all the same exact navy blue color. I was thinking that maybe they sold me a refurbished one?? I also noticed that all 7 screens were filled with widgets and shortcuts that my first D2 didn't have occupied. So it seems as though someone else customized the home screens. I just wanted to know if I was the only one that had this problem and whether or not I should return the damn thing while I'm still within my 30-day return period. I mean, I did pay the whole $600 for it, so I don't want a refurbished $600 phone. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks ;]
Did you get this from the Verizon store? I picked mine up from Best Buy on August 27th, and it was brand new. There is a very slight difference in the color of my batter cover to the small portion with the Google logo on it. The Google side having slightly more blue to it according to my eyes. As far as the screens being filled with widgets, when I bought the phone it was pretty bare, over the weekend I got an update and with the update all 7 screens were filled. That said, I don't think you got a refurbished phone, but if you did, then so did I
If you had a new phone and returned it for a replacement it will most likely be used. Verizon takes the problem phone fixes it up and uses it as a replacement phone. Unless you were lucky enough for them to be out of used phones at that moment. Which then they would have probably just shipped you a used one.
If they have you a used phone inside your 30 day window take out back and get another one you should have gotten a brand new one out of the box.

If you got a refurbished phone, it would be labeled Certified Pre-Owned Device with a sticker somewhere on the box that looks like the little "sticker" on this picture

Also, if your phone were a refurbished one it would not have had the screen protectors with blue tabs on it when you bought it.

Re-branded (androidsticker)

Well, I unbranded my atrix using the penny method and have now "re-branded" it with an android sticker. I actually ordered 2 because I wasn't sure of fitment for one. I tried the larger one first and it probably would have fit, had I not been stupid:

}
I already had it on very well before I realized it overlapped the camera section... So, I removed that and replaced it with this:
It's hard to capture the color accurately in a picture, but the first one seems to be a bit closer to me. I think I liked the first one better, had I not messed it up. I may end up ordering another offset version, but going to wait to see what more protective (sticker type) covers come out for the atrix first. Considering how cheap it was, I don't really care too much that the first one didn't work out or that I might end up taking the second one off soon anyways.
For anyone interested, these stickers, as well as other designs and colors, can be found here: http://www.androidstickers.com/

I might try that if I decide to order another.... kind of a waste of money to keep ordering them, but they're cheap enough that I might as well give it a try and it'll be easier to switch if I find myself dissatisfied with the look. Can always stick the extra on something else if I want.
Woof... I'll stick with the sexy, slim, soft-touch, black plastic of the incipio feather...
I'm probably going to end up going with something different... just waiting till there are more options. Not really interested in a case though. Pretty much waiting for the "skins" type options to come out. They offer basic scratch protection but that's about it, it seems.
Emailed them with an idea and they're looking into it... might have something a bit cooler if it pans out.

[Q] Display problem

Hey guys,
I'm having a problem with the display on my G2. I spotted a grey spot on my display. It's not very big and can only be seen if your in a dark room and the display is black. Sounds really like a minor issue, but now that I know it's there, it just bugs me.
Any of you guys have an idea what this is, or having the same problem? (Just test it out)
I'm not sure if this is reason enough to get it replaced

You can't see it very well, because I just don't have a better way of taking a picture from it than my Nexus 7

I won't look on mine... because if it's something common I will have it for sure.. and I know myself it will bug me till the end ...
Anyway looks like glue residue or something in that matter, in case you do not have a screen protector.
If you can prove it to the store, get it replaced... This is a flagship device. Prestige one... Even minor appearance problems shouldn't be there.
Personally if I had it there and as you say, you can see it, get it replaced, and you never know if this i snot a beginning of something bigger? What if your screen falls off? (bit paranoid, but you know what to say in the store if they gonna give you hardtime )
Get it replaced! A $500 phone should not have that.
Sent from my JEE TWO
yeah, get it replaced if you want to. But i have a dead pixel on my G2, it bugged me for about a week, but ive forgotten its even there now haha

Dust under back of frosted glass - Yet another QC error.

After being happy for a few days with my second Z5 (First one had backlight uneveness, changed out next day), I stumbled upon yet another QC error by Sony. This time around there is dust stuck beneath the frosted glass. Now you might say "Oh it's just a scratch!" I looked at it from multiple angles, under bright light and also with an electronic microscope. There are no indentations to the surface, which leaves me just as baffled as most of you on how this happened . This is a REV4 model, everything else works wonderfully though, barely any camera fringing and no uneven backlight, haven't tested water proofness yet, but that wasn't important to me. Needless to say I'll be exchanging it tomorrow because the shops that have it in stock have closed for the night.
So just a warning on another thing to look out after buying your new Xperia Z5!
Why do you do this to us Sony, we only want your products :crying:.
PS: Here's the unresized images if you want to peep: Image 1, Image 2.
You bought it that way for sure. This ''thing'' can not go almost to the middle of the phone by itself.Just one more thing that we need to look closer before buying. And Sony is not doing this intentionally, bro. ( : Just bad luck.
No disrespect intended but the absolute last thing I am worried about is a piece of dust under the back glass. In my opinion, trivial.
return it. if you're spending $400+ usd on a phone it should be pretty darn near perfect.

See I fully agree it is trivial. But the fact that is there will drive me crazy. Considering cheaper phone manufacturers can deliver better QC, I expect cream of the crop from Sony. Call me picky or pedantic, but for a price of the phone there is no excuse.

Color convergence issues

Hi all,
I've had my 6p for almost two weeks and tomorrow is my last day to return it. They will not extend buyer's remorse to a replacement unit so before tomorrow I need to decide if the issue I have is specific to my unit (get a replacement) or related to the AMOLED panel used on this phone (cancel).
The issue is that colors seem not to converge correctly, just like old CRT screens would. This is most noticeable on high contrast borders such as black text on light backgrounds, which my brain interprets as embossed text rather than nice flat text. Below is a zoomed in example showing this issue, upper borders are reddish/darker and lower ones are greenish/bright.

Anyone else seeing this? my friend's S5 has a similar thing but way less noticeable and i could probably live with it, whereas my 6p is probably too much. Yes this is my first AMOLED.
Thoughts? thanks!

You are joking? Right?
That image is blown up how much??
400%. Otherwise you wouldn't see it on a forum, but real life you can see it with no need to zoom
