"SaFF" - Clock today plugin for XIAMultiTheme - Orientation Aware!

== Small and Finger Friendly ==
This is a clock area today plugin I made to compliment UltimateLaunch. Originally it was an rlToday plugin, but I have moved on to XIAMultiTheme (XMT).
It is an ongoing work, there will be improvements, probably VGA versions etc, but it is certainly ready for use now, so I am releasing it.
Current version: 0.9
You will need:
XIAMultiTheme (version GREATER than 0.06 - the nightly builds are later than 0.0.6 if 0.0.7 is not out yet)
MortScript must be installed if you want to hear beeps when you press the BT / WiFi buttons
That's it!!
Installation:
1) Install XMT and Mortscript.
2) Extract SaFF zip to PC, upload the SaFF folder inside to the XMT themes folder on your PPC (Extras is source images etc, you dont need that on PPC)
3) Copy all .ttf files from the extras folder to the \Windows folder on your PPC
4) Select SaFF as active in the XMT config app
5) (Optional) Set the registry type of the SaFF plugin to Type 5 to make always on top (see readme.txt in zip)
Planned improvements and changes:
===========================
Different colour icons as well as the blue.
Clock font as PNGs with transparency
Prefraction of backgrounds behind the rounded buttons / backgrounds
Removing reliance on mortscript to make beeps
I AM NOT AN ARTIST SO IF YOU ARE AND WANT TO CONTRIBUTE IMAGE SETS THEN LET ME KNOW !!

I am currently working on a new version for VGA.
I am also looking to improve the graphics somewhat - all graphics are just PNG files so any artist wanting to try and skin SaFF, let me know - it is very easy. BlueMetalAxe supplied me with a button template which helped, maybe I can persuade to do me a complete skin job
Here is a preview:
I have no new version of the landscape VGA skin yet, I am toying with how to do it as the larger BT / WiFi buttons in portrait mean I would need seperate images for the landscape buttons or standardise on size. I am thinking the former.
I have decided on layout, so all I need do is gussy up the graphics. I re-did the clock font, and am pretty happy with that now.
Here is the new layout (For both Portrait and Landscape) with slightly improved graphics. Has been mangled somewhat by the screenshot utility but you get the idea...
[Edit] I dunno why, in the SS, the counter for mail in the portrait layout has a couple of numbers stacked on top of each other (The top one is a 4) - this does not happen in normal usage, I think it only happens just after you switch orientation.
Clock font as PNGs with transparency
looking forward to this feature, then i can make a nixie clock on my home screen!!

[Updated] backgroundCreator

I've made an application that will replace the theme's background with a background of your choice.
The advantages of using my program:
- unlike on your device itself, you can zoom in and out of pictures and get just the part YOU want on your devices today screen.
- you get a seperate part of the picture for both portrait and landscape mode, not the same one like windows does (either cropped or tiled).
It's an application specifically designed for the XPERIA but it can be used with other devices with the same resolution (or if I make small modifications which consist in users being able to select the preferred resolution).
You can load a picture, modify it to your wishes and then either save it directly onto your device or make a backup which you can use for later on your desktop computer.
Update: You can now change the fontcolor of your todayscreen and start menu, as well as changing your devices base color.
For example the color for your menu's and background colors for standard windows applications like messaging, etc...
If there are things you dislike or would like to see changed; functionality you would like me to add, please tell me.
Note:
- All 3 files are needed to run the application.

I have no experience with manilla, I don't even know what it is ^_^!
If manilla uses the files windows provides to use as a background, it will (like stwater_800_480), otherwise it won't.
wow, glad to see a nifty little program like this. can't wait to try it out, thanks for the development!
I've added some features which now makes it a basic theme editing program as well.
Also I have bad news..
my x1 fell in my cup of soup a few days ago T_T so I turned it in for repairs. I got lucky after like 20 times I could flash my old ROM and SPL back so they can't complain about that..
Will it change the background only of the Today Screen?
No changes in the screen of the Sony Ericsson Panel?
(I'd like a program to change the Sony Ericsson Panel Background, doing it manually is a little tedious)
will this creator also run with windows mobile 6.5?
great thanks for development!!

Clock is truly missing (how about this in Chrome?)!

Hi,
I do not know how about you but I am missing simple/constant/bulit in clock in Modern UI mode.
In desktop mode (unless you hide taskbar) clock is always there for you in the right bottom corner...
In Modern UI we can add Clock Tile but it is not the same. As soon as you start an app it is gone .
I know there are many apps (like games) that (as in full screen desktop) will not display and should not display such an information. However apps like Mail, browser, etc. , let say all productivity ones should.
Any chances to get extension (perhaps one of you can write it?? ) that will display clock in Chrome when fired up in Modern UI mode as show on the picture:

This space in Chrome is not used for anything so it could nice display time What do you think?
I fully agree...!
If you bring up the charms bar the time is displayed
I know - but there is (in most cases) so much unused space on the screen that it should be there all the time.
Space on the tiles themselves could be used better as well
>I know - but there is (in most cases) so much unused space on the screen that it should be there all the time.
It's Metro's design language--having an ascetic interface with as little "chrome" as possible for a clean look. Having an on-screen clock would go against that.
There are a number of issues with Metro--one is the lack of visual hints that impedes discoverability, thereby decreasing user-friendliness. Constant-updating Live Tiles also run counter to the clean UI that ostensibly was for minimizing distractions.
One major complaint with Metro of course is that it's incomplete, and needs to invoke the desktop for many functions. The other biggie is the "business decision" of forcing Metro on users, and not allowing boot-to-desktop.
My personal beef against the Metro design is its use of horizontal scrolling for the main UI elements, notably the Start Screen and many of the Bing apps. Ergonomically, horizontal scroll is less efficient than vertical scroll, especially for text. Secondly, it limits the tablet to landscape mode, which is probably the intent, as all (16:9) Windows tablets work poorly in portrait. Fine for media, poor for readers or web surfing, or any use that involves long text.
Getting back to your point, Metro is as mentioned an incomplete implementation, and hopefully the next rev will expand on its functionality. I don't think a clock on the start screen is in the cards, however.
More intriguing is the possibility of a 3rd-party shell that can replace Metro at some point down the road. Assuming this touch UI thing doesn't flop completely on Win, I think that'll happen.

[More screens in google play's page]
Hi all
This is my first "real" application. I done only CyanogenMod themes until now. For learning something about Android programming, I developed a small app, Commands Launcher.
It is very simple: you can define commands (only shortcuts actually) that you can use in a widget (homescreen and lockscreen).
I hope to add more features in the future, but as I'm an university student at the last year, I won't have much free time.
WIDGETS:
-Homescreen widget with a list of the commands defined (better than folders, it has an unlimited capacity and helps in saving space)
-Lockscreen widget [only from Android 4.2] that allows you to run commands directly from the lockscreen, without unlocking the device (note that this obviously won't work if you have a pin /password security for the lockscreen)
-1x1 minimum size
APP FEATURES:
-homescreen and lockscreen widgets
-three different text sizes for widgets (small, medium, big)
-side scrolling menù for helping app's navigation
-view of commands defined in a list
-backup and restore your commands in and from sd card
-three themes: light, dark, black (black is useful for amoled users, it will displays better and will save battery)
-four different transitions types between app's page
CHANGELOG
-1.5: now items of the list in the widget are centred
minimum widget size decreased from 2x2 to 1x1 (you may need to replace widgets)
-1.3: possibility to change widgets text size (small, medium, big)
small fixes
-1.2: other little fixes after first release
-1.1: little fixes after first releare
-1.0: initial release
DOWNLOAD:
Google Play
(if you like the app, rate it )
Enjoy
I love the concept of this widget. I've been looking for something like this. As a next step, I'd love to be able to create multiple different widgets that I can place on different homescreens. Also, font and size customization and the ability to link apps and not just shortcuts.
Great start!

Choose "Layout" in Zooper Widget Pro from the menu, and set for the elements - AppStart oben/unten/Mitte/links/rechts - under setting "Module OnTap" the appropriate app / activity. The grid corresponds to the full width of the widget with 3 rows and 3 columns per line. Standard settings are to call the battery info in the top right area and the configuration menu of Zooper Widget Pro in the upper left area
Zooper widget PRO is required * Full version of this template at Google Play
