Stock rom for XT1578? - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an engineering version of the Motorola Clark XT1578. Unfortunately, I thought it was an XT1575 and put a stock rom on it for that version. After I looked at it more closely, I noticed that it is an XT1578. I know... late night when I did it. Thankfully, it didn't brick.
I've searched the forums for XT1578, but cannot find anything. Anybody know where I can get a stock rom for the 1578 to put on this gem?

I would say if you have an engineering version why would you need the forum. None of us would have that unless you work at Motorola. They should have the image. Not sure how you even managed to get one. Sorry, can't say I've seen anything on these forums with that model. Not even on the internet other than the leak statements calling the Clark, the XT1578. Maybe others can chime in with more help. Sorry.

Didn't realize it hadn't come out yet. Guess I'll leave it as is until it does. Thanks.

Sounds top secret. Better look out for men in black suits and sunglasses to show up at your door.

[Q] Atrix Unlocked Question

Okay, so I just came back from a weeks holiday and logged in.
I'm overwhelmed, bootloader unlocked, awesome!
But, are there any roms yet, or is there a post where a rom is being developed?
Thanks
Nothing yet, still some p-roms. Be patient I'm sure things will start popping up soon. Dev forum is going nuts though, I suggest you read up on some of the developments going on there.

Official release of gb is not out yet. You can unlock your device and install a release from Asia for now.
It has bugs but there are fixes for them.
Probably no roms or kernels until official release and source code... Hang in there.... The atrix is about to get a whole lot better!

I guess I will add my question here:
I recently bought an unlocked Moto Atrix. [I'm not sure if its 4G, it doesn't say so on the box]. I got the from Rogers working on it, MMS and everything else.
its Model: MB860
System Version: Version.4.2.1.1.MB860.Retail.en.FR
Android Version: 2.2.2
Built number: OLYEM_U4_2.1.1
I love the phone, everything's cool, except this Froyo doesn't have google contact groups in it. I read on forums, that Gingerbread has the option back. (i remember using HTC Dream, it had those functions).
So, at this point, what could be my options? OTA update is not available. Neither is there any update when I connect it to PC with moto software.
any suggestions or helpful comments?
THANK
This will be a hard one seeing as you bought the phone online or from a friend. Now, I know there are plenty of threads in development about upgrading to gingerbread. Also, to answer your first question, yes the atrix is 4g. Be very careful about upgrading. Doing something wrong is a very quick way to getting a very expensive paperweight.

And to note, thank you for searching
The forums before posting.

Yea, I bought it used over kijiji. The phone is like new and was unlocked.
I guess, i'll wait some more time.. an update isn't really required.. and I love the phone as it is
Thank you for the kind response.
No problem. I've been reading about a lot of people bricking their phones because they don't do something right. If you do something, just read everything twice first. Good luck. And glad you love the phone, welcome to the atrix.

Is it true??? Root maybe coming??

So I found this on the EVO 3D channel. Looks like they found a hole they may be able to use for rooting 2.3.3!

I already have root on my EVO whats the point of this?
there is a whole evo 3d forum here on XDA which would be a better place to talk about it
deleted......
I love all the posts about just watch here and they'll be tons of posts about the new root. now that one is close.
One post
Right now, there is NO new root. I guaranty you there will be people Fighting to be the first to post when it actually drops. Plus, if you read the thread, they state that it seems to be very device specific...meaning it may not help us, we don't know yet. Unless you are a dev or a tester, we are still in wait-and-see mode.
True but I suspect the same root will work on this device as well. Just surprised to see so little chatter about it

Why get the hopes up of all of the noobs that took the OTA. The smart ones that got unlucky with a warranty swap or an insurance claim that got 2.3.3 on a new/refurb phone knows where to look and when to ask about it.
I heard unrevoked has a solution. They appear to have bootloader loop issue to resolve before they can publish a solution.
Hope this is true.

It went over your head completely. Derty-der...
Many people with unrooted phones and GB 2.3.3, S-ON, are waiting for a solution to get flipped over to s-off. So they can root.

yea i saw that too. but that doesn't really tell me anything apart from the fact that other phones like mine were also sold(which i already knew).
It would be best to just drop the subject. You have something rare, and if you want to keep it, I would keep it quiet. The guys on the Motorola forum are launching a pretty big investigation into this. I would delete your pic and edit your OP. Don't get me wrong, I DO NOT condone illegal activity, but there is a reason these are out in the open...
Regardless of the circumstances surrounding where or how he got the phone, there ought to be someplace where this guy can get answers as to its origin or what it is exactly without everybody overreacting.

It is an Engineering model device and it will have a fully unlocked bootloader Status 1 when you boot into AP Fastboot mode from the boot menu.
It will also have engineering firmware with userdebug testkeys builds unless it was flashed by prior owner to stock or a custom build.
These are very valuable devices to a developer because they can run any firmware, including the engineering bootloaders and radio images, which cannot be run even on devices with unlocked bootloaders via exploit or the official Development edition devices, all of which have a Status 3 bootloader.
The good news is you can run any firmware you like safely on them, but you must flash them manually and you can't run any OTA updates until you do so because they will fail signatures and checksums on engineering builds.
There is also usually a lot of debugging binaries and apps and monitoring components on these builds that you want to disable generally.
It's a great opportunity, but comes with some greater responsibility.
The official forum, as noted above, is an extremely poor place to get this kind of information and is basically useless, as you discovered.
More of these devices have been showing up lately and I have seen several posts by confused users like yourself regarding such phones.
Consider yourself lucky and start learning how to take advantage of your rare device!
It would seem, especially from the reaction by Motorola, that it is indeed an internal phone. I'm guessing they want the IMEI so they can take someone's head off.
I doubt Motorola would go after any end users, they didn't seem too mad at the guy who posted there. Someone inside will probably not be happy after that investigation though

uh, actually im pretty sure he is telling the truth. its sort of a Pakistani craigslist.
RSD is proprietary software, owned by Motorola. While I know it's very easy to find online, it's not intended for public use. The rules of this site forbid discussion of software installation or use unless that software is distributed by Motorola or one of its partners.
That pretty much sums it up. Had he come to xda, he'd have gotten help. He didn't seem too open to helping the Motorola guys out though, so they didn't help him. Don't see why he would lie about that, he's just a poor guy who wants his confidential Motorola property to work for him... By asking the people that someone stole it from... Yeah...

Nope. Since it's factory unlocked, you should be able to install TWRP and go about flashing whatever you want. It might be a wiser choice to buy a regular handset, since you want have Motorola property all over the front.

Looking to get the G2

Hello,
So I'm looking at getting the G2 for T-Mobile.
How is the Root and ROM scene coming along? It looks like there is a pretty simple and solid way to root, although it seems like only stock ROMs for now. Also I didn't see to seem a recovery thread for the TMO phone?
How soon does it look like we will start seeing the flagship ROMs? Like AOSPA, AOKP, PAC, etc. Also, with those ROMs, would it be possible to carry over some of the LG features like knock on?
Thank you in advance!
Just read a few threads and you'll get your answer.

Its like you didnt even try to read through the dev sections, there are already AOSPA, AOKP, CM and stock based ROMS all in the development section. You cannot miss them. Rooting method is clearly discussed in these threads too...
Knock on already works on these...read please.
This is an asinine OP thread...

I went through the threads, saw NONE of what your talking about. Went again, repeat story.
I see FOUR ROMs and ALL of them are stock rooted. Not a single other ROM.
So I go to android development, main thread there. Zero ROMs. EDIT: Found 2 modded stock in here. Both of them were in the TMO dev section already though.
Alright, original development, I see a few ROMs, none mention if they will work on tmobile.
On stuff like the CM ROM, assuming it works, no where does it say if knock on was ported/works at all, and NOTHING about the other features.
I still have no idea where you're seeing that AOSPA thread. Not in dev, original dev, or TMO dev.
Also, if you actually read what I said instead of being an assuming jerk. You'd see I said that I say the root method, and it looks pretty easy and solid. I didn't ask if it had root, or how to do it, just saying that I did find that thread, and it looked easy and like it applied to all variants of the phone.
So, why so mean? I read the forums, I found none of the answers. Then you get mad, telling me to read the forums, and again, nothing there. So apparently there is a magical forums with all these threads you are finding, and that's why I'm asking.

Excuse me you did say "ROM scene" so taking all the G2 ROMs collectively, I'm putting it out there that collectively we have all these Roms already. Check the Verizon thread as well. Those Roms I was talking about are there. You wanted an answer to your "ROM scene" you got the answer. Next time choose your words more carefully. Sorry if I misunderstood you on your question here.
He did ask about T-mobile though in his op.
I believe it's just stock roms at the moment.
Rooting is solid and easy.
Great way to get rid of bloatware.
I think we just have to give it time for "other" roms to come.

This plus a couple devs just got and or are about to get the T-Mobile G2...get the phone first. Stock is a beast anyway.
You're not going to need to do much tweaking at all because of how fast and fluid the phone comes out the box
By the time your treaty to stretch out your wings the Roms will be there waiting

Thanks. Yeah I assumed as much but was hoping for otherwise.
Yes I was talking about T-Mobile. I thought that made sense but I could see how the other guys read it as just a general question.
I already see some decent looking stock ROMs that should hold me over until a real AOSP or CM base ROM comes out. I assume we have no ETAs on that. The optimus g (on sprint) still has pretty much ONE person porting 95% of all the ROMs. He's great at it, and updates all the ROMs weekly, but still, if he fell of the face of the earth, that phone would probably almost never get an updated ROM besides the CM builds and the one official ROM, PACman.
I got the phone yesterday....and dear god. The screen, form factor, buttons on the back....all of it is amazing. At 67% battery life and it's been running since noon yesterday. My old optimus G is at 75%....and it's been running for only 3 hours. Such an insane battery, I love it.
I am waiting to hear back from Sprint, in a battle to cancel my contract and get some discount on the ETF. I actually have a decent poor service case so we'll see how that goes. Worst case I'll just cancel the TMO plan and keep the phone until I can cancel Sprint.
I'll probably wait on rooting and using a ROM for a bit. Although I can't STAND the high DPI (on any phone really, I always have most of my apps on my other phones at 240 DPI or so) or the notification bar. Is there any non root way to change that? If not I may root today just so I can at least change the DPI and look in to the notification bar. Quick settings aren't even that bad. It's that brightness and ringer slider that I can't seem to turn off. I can't imagine why they though all this, plus qslide on by default, would be a nice experience for the user.
Most of the rest of the ROM they got right though, with some pretty nice features.
Thanks for the help, all of you!

Should I have waited for the dev version note 3?

I get that it will have an unlocked bootloader and such. But does the release of this mean no one will bother with unlocking the non dev version. Because id really like me a custom rom.

As of now beanz said that only safe strap will be worked on for the non dev edition . which means only custom tw Roms. No kernels, no aosp. No one mentioned the possibility of bootloader unlock, as he mentioned time after time to wait for Dev edition.
Hope that answers your question
I could not wait for a phone that I all ready like... but that being said I wonder if Knox will be on the dev edition? A asop note??? Would be lame!
damn this sucks. the note 2's bootloader was unlocked within a few weeks of release.

But even with an unlocked bootloader on the dev edition, how many ROMs, kernels, etc. will be available? I know that Beanz and some other devs said they will get it, but the number of ROMs will still be fairly limited. Not sure if it is really worth it.

It will be limited because not as many devs will have a DE version of this phone. They might be able to port some roms but it won't be anything close to the note 2 community

Well, the note 3 just happens to have a chastity belt of a bootloader which is also guarded by bastard of a shot gun called knox.
Who's to say any tampering with the boot wont trigger knox and void us all to warranty hell.
I was looking forward to using an unlocked bootloader just to get the kernels ect, but I come from the Droid Bionic so im fairly use to using safestrap.
If I can get the bloat gone, deodexed, with a few cpu scripts ill be happy.
Well I giess id be happy with some TW kit kat roms. As long as it imprives battery life and rids the rom of all un-nessesities.

Wish I knew about how the bootloader was screwed. I Purchased 2 note 3's at full retail, and sold both of my note 2's, only to find out about the bootloader issue after it was all done. I had been so busy at work I didnt have time to research the note 3 very much. I just assumed it would be similar to the note 2 bootloader. This may be what causes me to leave vzw. I hate that they refuse to allow me to use my phones the way I want.

I bet you feel better about yourself after being rude for no reason.
The note 2 was never intended to be unlocked by Samsung. Adam outler and the xda guys just happened to find a easy way to unlock. Of course once Sammy figured out how they did that, they had to patch that hole and make it harder for devs.

At no point did I "whine", I stated my situation. I also never said I needed my exit from vzw to be noticed, or that it was anyone's fault other than my own. You just seem to have a need to be negative towards me and my situation. Which, from the beginning I said was my own fault, and that I didnt have time to research because I had been very busy at work. and you immediately began talking down. Realist or not, your still being a rude for no reason. Do we know each other in real life? have I offended you in the past? I dont understand why you have such animosity towards me.
I have been doing 80+ hour work weeks for the past month, and wanted to purchase the phones as a reward to myself, and my wife who starts a new job on monday. I had experience with the note line, and it was an excellent product. So I thought / assumed I would have a similar experience with this product. why that offends you? I have no clue. but by all means, lose as much sleep as you need to over the situation.
Just relax buddy the phone will be unlocked soon enough
