I cannot get ANY of my WIRED headphones/earbuds to equalize - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Interesting thing I noticed today and that is when playing music I cannot get any of my wired headphones/earbuds to equalize, i.e. , not noticing any difference no matter what settings, yet with ALL of my bluetooth earbuds there is no problem at all. Very strange as I would have expected the opposite. I am using Music Equalizer app but I really do not know if that is a factor ..

I just uninstalled the Music Volume Equalizer and just using the Rhapsody equalizer and I am having no problems with any of my wired earbuds now.. interesting..

There isn't any built in eq?

Streaming music through Bluetooth earpiece

Is there any way of streaming music through a BT earpiece on the Vibrant?

If your BT headset supports A2DP, yes. Personally, I like stereo music so I got a Sony MW600. Definitely recommend it--you can use your own headphones, it's got a good mic, FM radio, amazing range and battery life, and you can pair it with up to three devices. It's tiny and light too.

yes... You have to get a "media" type BT. I got a Samsung one at T-Mobile for a discount. I think it's like 60 bucks though. It is pretty good as far as quality. I'm not a music freak so as long as it plays I'm good.
You can also use it to watch video. It's great because there are no cords tying you down. It also has headphones so I can have my phone in my pocket, the BT cliped to my shirt and still use headphones. The other thing I like about this one is that It has an output jack so I can plug it into my car's audio auxillary.
One great benefit of a BT headset for music is that it will actually save you battery if you listen to music a lot. Mine allows me to control volume and pause/ff/rev tracks without turning on the screen, which is a much bigger battery drain than the BT. I used to get crappy battery life because every time I adjusted volume, the screen would come on, and changing tracks also required waking the screen.

[Q] Mono (downmix from Stereo) Audio?

Does anyone how I can get a mono audio option for sound? I use spotify at work and would like to be able to use only one earphone...but then I miss out on half the sound. I have no issues with PowerAmp, since you can downmix to mono but have trouble everywhere else (TuneIn, Spotify, etc). So anyone know of system wide APK or function that allows for mono audio?
I do this every single day at work with podcasts.
Option 1
A2dp Bluetooth
Option 2
Super mono froyo or BT mono in play store
These "hack" your audio to a non a2dp bluetooth
Edit: I re-read your post and it seems you want better quality rather than the wireless capability. Nevertheless a2dp may still be the easier way to go.

Thanks for the response. I actually got a stereo -> mono 3.5 plug but it doesn't like to fit in the N4...works on just about everything but the N4. I think I'll just look for another stereo -> mono adapter that actually fits as BT wasn't the solution I was looking for.

Music skips and changes speed/pitch using Google Play Music through Bluetooth speaker

Hi guys. I am wondering if anyone else is having the same issue I am.
In no certain frequency, when I'm playing music through my Bose SoundLink Mini Bluetooth speaker from the Google Play Music app, it will sometimes skip and speed up/change pitch. It seems to happen on both WiFi and LTE. Haven't noticed it through plugged-in headphones.
I also noticed it when I had an AT&T Galaxy S4 through a Logitech Bluetooth stereo adapter and a Creative D100 Bluetooth speaker using the same app - Google Play Music.
I had both a Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 and never noticed it with either device.
All my devices have had the stock roms (non-rooted), and were always up to date. My Galaxy S5 is on Verizon. I haven't tried any music through the native music player app (such an mp3 or flac) but will update when I do.
Very annoying issue, especially for a musically sensitive person such as myself! I have sent multiple bug reports through the Google reporting process, and I guess I need to figure out how to send some to Samsung. Just wanted to see if anyone else had the same issues. Didn't see any other mentions of it on XDA. My apologies if there are similar posts on here and I didn't see them. Thanks!

I would root the device & keep the stock rom and install Viper4Android, It's the best sound app/mod that I have ever used and It will let you adjust all of your bluetooth sounds.

For me It's worth rooting just so I can use Viper4Android..
I think it's the Bose device. I have the same issue with the Bose SoundLink Mini. Completely different phone than you. Droid Turbo. Never happens with any other Bluetooth headphones or with my car. It's very annoying. Any slight interruption in the audio stream to the Bose, and the music's pitch goes up like a quarter step. No it doesn't happen on any other Bluetooth device I have nor does it do it on the phones speaker or plugged headphones.
Apparently many people are having this issue with Bose SoundLink and similar devices. https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=69397
I got a Bose Color SoundLink for Christmas, playing a station on TuneIn...after a little while there's a slight pause and the music starts up again at a faster speed! I was wondering if anyone else was hearing this and now I see its other Bose owners. Same thing happened with YouTube.
I have a rooted Note 3 running KitKat. Not upgrading to Lollipop.
Never happens if I use my LG BT earbuds or BT to my other little portable speakers.

Bluetooth Music Quality

How the does bluetooth sound for you guys? Mine seems to be worse after the B29 update (not for certain that's when it degraded). I have a decent car stereo setup, but bluetooth distorts and crackles in the mids and highs. It's not unlistenable, but I thought my stereo was on the fritz until I used my 3.5mm input from the headphone jack, which sounds just fine. It can't be that the DAC is that much better, as my other phones sounds fine and this used to.
Do you have any thoughts or experience with something besides a small bluetooth speaker?
And I have tried playing with the Dolby settings. They make no difference with the distortion.
After some perfunctory tests I have noted that Bluetooth audio seems to introduce a significant amount of extra noise at high volumes. Aside from the additional background noise I have not noticed distortions with Bluetooth yet. I have only checked this on B29.

Just something to try...I have a BT device hooked to my AVR, and when I stream through that, if I have the volume on my phone up it sounds horrible. If I stream through it with the volume up just 1 click of the volume button, it sounds good. I increase volume at the AVR instead of the phone.
Through Bluetooth hands free working flawlessly to my.(A2017G version)
I'm having 2 LG 1100/2 Sony SBH 80 and 2 SBH 20.
Haven't try it with external speakers(since I don't own any kind) and on my car I'm using the handsfree and not connected to the car audio system.

I have a A2017G on B05 and a somewhat cheap aukey BT headset: it seems to sound fine for me, no crackling or hissing. Have you tried it on different devices to compare?
A2017U on B29, using Jaybirds Bluebuds X, the sound its great, no distortion or cracking.
I use the Bluetooth on my car stereo too and the sound is excellent. No dolby, but the equalizer works fine.
Did you verify that all your bluetooth devices supports aptx? if not then you will lose sound quality :S
idk, i dont like bluetooth audio streaming... even with aptx. Its not bad but if you want to steam flac music it will still limit the quality. Somehow if i stream the music via bluetooths aptx it sound flat not dynmic and
voluminous.
I haven't tried it with the volume just below full. I'll give it a shot in the morning on my commute.
Other devices (S5 and 6P) sound just fine when paired to my headed unit, so it's likely something with my Axon 7.

Quick test with the volume just under full seemed better. I'll know more after a drive tomorrow. Thanks everyone.

EQ on on your car stereo or phone? I don't know of an EQ on the phone (maybe I've overlooked something).

On the phone. I meant to say that it's not using the HiFi audio, but the Dolby eq it's fine on Bluetooth. Sorry for the confusion.
I think it sounds about 95% better just one click below full volume. I never would have thought that digital Bluetooth volume would have been the problem, having always set it to 100% with every other device. Thankfully, Tasker makes for a quick fix.
Thanks for the tips and feedback, everyone.

Best Music Player for regular flac files, not high res?

What do people think is the best music player for the V20 for regular flac files, not high res? And do you use special settings?
PowerAmp

Any particular settings you prefer on PowerAmp? Like DVC, resampler etc?
So I compared Poweramp (With SoX resampler enabled) with the LG Music App, playing Dire Straits "The man's too strong" and the music sounded clearer and fuller with the LG App (44 KHz 1469 KBPS). I ended up enabling Direct Volume Control on PowerAmp and that improved it.
I do have DVC selected for headphone and BT. Crossfade @ 3000ms and gapless. The equalizer and preamp settings work great. I also save preset equalizer settings for use depending on what vehicle I am driving. I only use wired connections as I can't stand the sound quality of ANY audio player using BT.
If your download and store your music locally from Amazon it will find it(No player can access cloud to my knowledge.). It does not work with downloaded Google Play music in my experience due to the unconventional file naming Google uses(I havent tried lately though.)
I've been using the paid version of PowerAmp since my HTC Evo. Its worth every penny. I have yet to find a better app for music.
Neutron is good it processes the music at 64 bit if you enable it.
Also if you have the v10 dac fix on Google play the dac will work with all apps not just lg

I just thought I'd mention it but I personally like the layout of PlayerPro a little better than PowerAmp, I bought them both years ago and I think it's well worth having both of them but I'm not an audiophile by any stretch though either.
I have a question about the v10 dac fix if you wouldn't mind because I'm still confused about it, I was under the impression that if you have a higher end set of headphones or earphones it should kick in the dac no matter what music player you use, so I guess that's incorrect then? Also are there any visual clues that the dac is working? And what exactly is causing the volume controls to switch where it says "HI-FI"? I thought that meant dac was enabled and if so that happens whenever I plug in my headphones no matter what music player I'm using even though I've never installed the v10 dac fix?
