Sorry but i'm pretty sure it will be impossible

Another $ 100 here.

The root request is for untethered? Or tethered ?

PRIV aka privacy (no r00t, ever)
let's see how long it'll take to root this PRIV, proof Mr. Chen wrong... :silly:

I'll pledge $5. Sorry, I'm cheap

As long as I can install AdAway, block everything, and the changes to the host file remain after reboot, I'm fine with that, I'll still give my $ 100 to anyone that can make that happen, I don't need a Custom ROM, Bootloader Unlock or anything like, I would like to see them happen, but I'm not holding my breath for them, I just want to block ads, nothing more.

and for backup apps in android

100 here too. You better tally up

Is there an actual place we can pledge money to, or is this thread just a lot of hot air?

If you find something, let me know. I have actual money I'll put forth.
Edit: Changed my mind. I'm no longer interested in the Priv

From my experiences, usually these threads come to fruition and people deliver the payments once the bounty is hunted. Definitely does rely on the honour system, though. Maybe someone could set up one of those crowd-funding things? Heh.

I want root for Tasker, Xposed, & Titanium Backup. I have been using these apps for so long now that the inability to use them effect my purchasing choices
I even switched to T-Mobile because they were not locking down their phones as much as Verizon & AT&T.
I just hope we can find a nice middle ground to balance the security & privacy BlackBerry offers with the flexibility Android users embrace.

pledge $50.

Somebody contact Rebellos. He works with Linux on a binary level.
I'll only buy this device if it can be rooted. IF it can be achieved, I'll plunk in $50 and buy the carrier-unlocked version.

No shiza. I'll bet every, single carrier went "Ouch" when that hit. Better gear up the call centers fellas.
It doesn't inform them how to publish the apps to the market.
For all the negatives there are a lot of positives that can come of this.
I agree with jcase this might not be a good thing
Is everyone ready, because here comes malicious applications lol

this is what happens when you sign up its bogus i think.

Well we'll get flooded with crap... but frankly so is the iPhone lol 500 apps to simulate farts...
we will also get some people who use this tool and we can get some decent apps out of it.

It wont be malicious. I'm sure they're just rolling this thing out slowly like they did with Google Voice. It took me two weeks to get an invite from Voice. I bet it would take the same amount of time for this.

It's actually a google application, so I don't think so.
There is a $25 fee to register as a dev to be able to submit apps, hopefully that deters most of the crapware
Think they are really using this to get ideas from other peoples crap LOL. Then make it better. Love the royalty free part. If you come up with gold they get to put it out there and only pay you small amount of what you should get.

right now they are only opening the beta to pretty much teachers of some sort (for some reason its what i have read don't remember if it was on lifehacker or some other site) ... so basically when you filled out the app for the beta you should have put on there somewhere that you were a teacher... or just wait until its released to the public.
My nephew is really interested in app development, but he's 10 so teaching him how to build an app the good old fashioned way won't hold his interest. This on the other hand will. I signed up last night. We'll see.
I singed up as well,
hope it doesn't take to long to get this out to people
I don't think the market could ever be as bad as when i was on 1.5
it was all soundboards, and the $25 fee will probably help as well
Building a research tool.
I'm gonna experiment with making apps for my own use - mainly data-mining. For instance, I'm going to build an app to automatically gather general econ data GDP, unemployment rates, Fed Funds rate, crude oil prices, etc.) so I can have them at my fingertips during class.
I'll probably do the world a favor & NOT put them on the market since no one would download it, unless I name it EconFart
Carry on my XDAers!
Son of a gun. From the looks of the Cat add this will encourage even more soundboards

Just To Be Clear:
Jamezelle did the work on phone, and it was rooted using known exploits.
*Most credit goes to the researchers that found and developed the exploits. We will name the exploits closer to release. *
Now I just need to get my thunderbolt.
ToDo:
Test on release thunderbolt
Fix recovery
Get one for myself
Thank TheEndGame7, jamezelle, koush, and andrew8806.

*evil grin*.... nice job guys.... Team AndIRC FTW!
Thanks to TheEndGame for being the biggest help. Couldn't have done it without you! I'm glad you PM'd me, lol... Thanks Jamezelle for being the guy to step up and help us get this man.
I love yall
since someone has the thunderbolt obviously.... one question, is the screen glass or plastic?

This phone was the official non production HTC Mecha (codename). It may vary from the one released (HTC Thunderbolt). Things to note:
*The phone in the pictures came with Ship S-OFF
*No temp root but perm root with recovery
However, us over at AndIRC are very confident the same methods will still apply but we are keeping that information confidential at this time. Definitely get excited but remember things can always change.
This has just raised the value of this device, I expect alot more people to want it now, after all that Incredible rooting last year that took almost 5 months especially.
I was already planning on getting a T-bolt, now all we need is a release date and when we can pre-order the phone.
and its the best for everyone to keep the info confidential until the phone is released that way we don't give up the method to root and they patch it before release. Great Job guys!
Thanks to all the guys on: http://webirc.fossnet.info:9090/?channels=thunderbolt
Thanks! andrew8806, jamezelle, and jcase! Lets not forget Koush!
Don't thank me for anything.

Ok, it just wasn't clear if you had performed any procedures relating to s-off.
TeamAndi is back, too cool for school fool.
Thanks everyone who helped accomplish this. Looking forward to this phone even more now
Congrats guys on all your work! Now we just need a good step by step silimiar to understand as toast did for the evo?!!! I know I can't wait to get mine and full root and have s-off nanflash for custom Roms and kernels to come with it. Keep the excellent work up and you have my full support!!!
I already put my pre-order in on Monday and hopefully BB still sells it on next Monday. Either way I am glad to hear the ease of your success, and the sound of confidence in your posts. Onward to GB ROM's.

Update: thread opened for anyone that wants to contribute more to the bounty!
Update 2: bounty is now over $2,000. See here

I'm in for donation! I know some already put up the prize. I know a lot of "new" HP touchpad owners like me willing to chip in a dollar or more to put some more prizes and hopefully speed up the porting
Where can I donate to???
I never managed to get one of the hp touchpads when they were going cheap in the UK.
a few places are showing as in stock, but at the full price still.
If i manage to get my hands on one I will be donating to the bounty.
Gonna try my luck tomorrow morning, hope i can't get a 16G one.
I want one for 99 Bucks!
Where do I get it?
Does somebody know of any online store that sells it? Maybe in europa?

Get devs a G4 gofundme

I started a gofundme account to get the proper devs a couple G4s to help with unlocking the bootloader and attaining root. If you have a few bucks, throw it in the pot and I will get the money to whichever devs think they can get the work done!
The donations made will be split 50/50 between @autoprime and @thecubed to purchase 2 devices of their choosing, anything extra will go directly to them for any necessary supplies.
MOD EDIT by @gregbradley
Thread closed link
If you have any issues with money already donated please PM the OP, this has nothing to do with XDA, this is why we do not condone crowd funding.
Where's the link?
MOD EDIT by @gregbradley Link removed.
That would probably be beneficial, lol

Well people like YOU are awesome who take the time of out your already busy schedules and develop for us! When I get paid Thursday, I'll be making a donation. My first non-Sammy phone in 3+ years and first one with unlocked BL in over a year so I will be "making it rain" to all the devs I can so I can have some development on this phone! Thanks again! (to all devs as well)
When I get paid on Friday I'll drop a few duckets in the bucket.
Same here. Been in-between jobs at the moment and don't start new one till June 8th, but I think I get my severance from my last job this friday.
How does this work? Which devs would get a phone? And for 1500 you can only buy 2,5 phones. Obviously the international version should be purchased as well right?

You donate, money goes towards the devs. One already commented on here ( @thecubed ) and not sure of the others. Phone is only like $550, but I'm sure a few extra bucks will be fine. Pfft international version? 'Murica!
I set the goal at $1500, but it can very easily go over. The money will be split 50/50 between @autoprime and @thecubed. If the device only costs $550-600, the rest goes into their pockets for any other supplies necessary and as a thank you for their time.

[BOUNTY]Working AOSP source code for Galaxy S6/ Note5(N920/G920/G925/G928)

We all know that if someone makes a source code for our device (F/I/S/K/T/L/W8/FD) It will be easier to port it to non-international variants.
And I think that porting from one device to another will be easier too.
Ex:-Note5 to S6 to S6e to S6e+
You have to pay after we get a working source code. Now, you just have to post how much you can pay to the respective developer.
I have seen many pledge threads(almost every thread i have seen about bounty) making a big breakthrough in porting in XDA.
MODERATOR NOTE: Bounties are not encouraged on XDA, however some have resulted in needed breakthroughs.
A legitimate bounty should be started by someone other than the recipient, preferably an established member of the community. The recipient should be aware of and endorse the bounty and agree to its purpose. A set goal should be announced and totals kept current. No money should be collected up front but pledged to be sent to the recipient's donation link once goal is reached. Please also note bounties should be for significant critical development projects, not to get your favorite developers a new toy....that is what their DONATE link is for.
Please stay within these guidelines.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

By making this bounty I mean no disrespect for free-time developers but I think this will speed up the porting of AOSP based roms for our Galaxy S6 devices.
Some of the many examples available, if you still doubt this you can google for yourself.

Ridiculous thread.
If it was possible believe me it was done. All devs here do this for fun. Xda is the forum where everything is possible. If gold can be made out of plastic you would see it here. That's how committed most devs are. Offering money is a insult. They all work there butts of. And you insult them by offering money. That's not the way xda works.
You have to pay after we get a working source code. Now, you just have to post how much you can pay to the respective developer.
I hate this sentence. If you don't pay you won't able the flash it? Again, ridiculous thread and it should be closed.
O one thing I forgot to say, if there is a dev that wants to do this only for money than I say to him.

Totally agree with you, this is ridiculous, people work on XDA and they get donated thanks to the button.
It's never been "PAY AND WE GIVE YOU" but "DEVELOP AND WE MAY OR MAY NOT DONATE".
